ORA-00904 -- Export Problem
Hi,
While trying to export with oracle 9.2.0.7.0 in XP I am able to export the tables with the below error
EXP-00056: ORACLE error 904 encountered
ORA-00904: "SYS"."DBMS_EXPORT_EXTENSION"."FUNC_INDEX_DEFAULT": invalid identifier
. . exporting table emp_jan 4 rows exported
Please help me in this regard.
What is the output of the following:
SQL> desc sys.DBMS_EXPORT_EXTENSION

EA1 - Export result of query to clipboard gives ORA-00904 error
I ran the following SQL in a SQL Developer worksheet:
create table EXTCHAR_TEST (TEST_COL VARCHAR2(2000));
insert into EXTCHAR_TEST(TEST_COL) values ('(ASCII) ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ');
insert into EXTCHAR_TEST(TEST_COL) values ('(UTF-8) ŁłŃńŅņŇňʼnŊŋŌōŎŏŐőŒœŔŕŖŗŘřŚ');
insert into EXTCHAR_TEST(TEST_COL) values ('(UTF-8) ŗňŅŒŅ ňŁœ ōř ňʼnŇň łřŔŅ ŇŏŎŅ?');
select TEST_COL, DUMP(TEST_COL,1016) from EXTCHAR_TEST;
I then tried to right-click on the results and export them as CSV to the clipboard. Whenever I try this (possibly other ways too, I haven't tried) I get this error:
An error was encountered performing the requested operation:

Edited by: gclough on Sep 28, 2009 4:03 PMHi Barry,
I think I'm using the latest "EA1" version, which I downloaded from here:
[http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/sql/index21_EA1.html]
I have just confirmed using the sample script, that the problem still exists. I was connected to a v9.2.0.5.0 database... if that makes any difference.
* Run SQL
* Right-Click on results
* Export Data -> csv...
* Clipboard
* Click "Apply"
* Error... :-(

Oracle 8i full export fails (ORA-00904)
Hello Guru's.
I encounter this problem when i try a full export.
Database version is 8.1.7.4 and the export utility is also 8.1.7.4
When i try exporting it generates a ORA-00904 error. I traced on this error and see the following:
*** SESSION ID:(8.57) 2007-03-21 10:33:53.738
*** 2007-03-21 10:33:53.738
ksedmp: internal or fatal error
ORA-00904: invalid column name
Current SQL statement for this session:
SELECT GRANTOR, GRANTORID, GRANTEE, PRIV, WGO, ISDIR, TYPE FROM SYS.EXU8GRN WHERE OBJID = :1 ORDER BY WGO DESC, SEQUENCE
I checked the compatible parameter:
(compatible string 8.1.7)
Any reply greatly appreciated.Yeah, well, maybe running catexp.sql will solve that .....
And it did.
But more stuff is coming up, proberly when i try to import this thingie into Oracle 10g.
Thanks, and reply! -
"ORA-00904: "POLTYP": invalid identifier" in export
First I got errors when I did the export with an export tool of Release 11.1.0.7.0 and there were lot of ORA-00904 and ORA-01003 like the following:
XP-00008: ORACLE error 904 encountered
ORA-00904: "MAXSIZE": invalid identifier
. . exporting table XRATE_INFO
EXP-00008: ORACLE error 1003 encountered
ORA-01003: no statement parsed
Then I tried to do export with another version of export tool (Release 10.2.0.4.0) The errors changed to the following:
.about to export FM's tables via Direct Path...
EXP-00008: ORACLE error 904 encountered
ORA-00904: "POLTYP": invalid identifier
EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully
The export tool I used is of Release 10.2.0.4.0
Has anyone had similar problems before?

ORA-00904 when exporting job queues
Hi!
I have a 8.1.6.3.7 database (although you only see 8.1.6.3.0) when you log in) which I'm trying to export.
Everything is fine until the time comes to export job queues. I then get the following error messages:
EXP-00008: ORACLE error 904 encountered
ORA-00904: invalid column name
EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully
Now, I've just spent my morning looking through the discussion forums to see if anyone else had this error, but no luck.
What I've done:
- Rerun catexp: no change
- ensured that I'm running the same version of the RDBMS and export (v8.1.6.3(.7) and 8.1.6.3.0): ok?
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks,
KevinHi Prathmesh,
in fact I saw this very thread before and I made sure that both solutions were applied. Moreover as I said patch 6991626 had already been applied earlier, precisley to fix this problem, and I've had been able to successfully export other albeit somewhat smaller schemas (500M instead of 3GB) in the last few months. This is why I was so puzzled to see that exact bug raise its ugly head again. As far as I can tell I didn't do any modification to the DB since that last patch in nov. 2009. In fact the DB has been running pretty much untouched since then.
I even tried yestereday to reinstalled the patch again; opatch does the operation gracefully, first rolling back the patch then reapplying it again, with only a warning about the patch being already present. However the pb does not get fixed any better.
Thanks a lot for your help,
Chris -

balaIt might be that you have not ran the exp script to build the correct views.
Some applications build tables with double quotes around them to force the table or view names to lower case. exp doesn't play well with that. You may have to go through and rename all the objects that were creates case specific. -

You have a 10.1.0.2.0 DB but the version of the imp/exp utilities supplied along with Designer 10.1.2.0.2 is 10.1.0.4. You could use 9i imp/exp utilities and export. Another possible method would be to export all workareas in the repository from the RON.

I am trying to run the export utility (NT machine) to export specified tables to a dmp file. The export starts but does not complete successfully due to the ORA-00904 error for having an invalid column name. I looked at the tables I've tried to export and the column names are valid (less than or equal to 30 characters and alphanumeric).
This is the params file I am using:
TABLES=(EMP)
LOG=bob.log
INDEXES=Y
ROWS=Y
COMPRESS=Y
FEEDBACK=10
FILESIZE=100K
FILE=bob.dmp
any information is much appreciated
ThanksMarco,
I was trying to run the export on an 8.1.7 client machine on an 8.1.6 database. I ran the export on the database server machine locally and it worked fine. It looks like I need to get the versions on the clients to match the database. Thanks for your help. -

ImranCheck for synonyms named DBMS_JAVA and DBMS_JAVA_TEST. If there is a synonym by either of these names, but there is not a corresponding DBMS_JAVA or DBMS_JAVA_TEST package, drop the synonym and rerun the export.

Repository Backup - Export problem
Hi all,
trying to backing up a repository for exporting purpose, the process begins but then I always get the same error for all tables.
Attached is the first section of the log file, showing the errors.
I've checked the requirements and the EXP executable is the right one (817 bin directory)

ORA-00904 while reading from Excel with ODI
Hi all
I'm trying to read data from some simple Excel files and to write the data into a 10g DB, but I get errors that don't make sense to me.
Hope someone can give me an idea how I could get around them.
For some files the transfer works as expected. For another one I get a ORA-00904 (invalid identifier) Message
My Excel file that makes problems looks like that:
__A___ __B___
String1 String3
String2 String4
Through "ODI Reverse" I get a Datastore with one table containing the 2 columns F1 and F2 (both of type VARCHAR).
Then I export this table and import it into my target datastore and set the adequate datatype (VARCHAR2).
The next step is to create an interface and to use the two tables there (not to forget to define one column as key).
As LKM I'm using SQL-to-SQL and as IKM I use Oracle-Incremental-Update.
This process works fine for most of my Excel files but for the simple one described above ODI fails with ORA-00904.
I tried to run the generated SQL directly on the DB with JDeveloper and the error occurs this way as well. The generated SQL is:
/* DETECTION_STRATEGY = NOT_EXISTS */
insert /*+ APPEND */ into TEST_TARGET.I$_FEASIBILITY
F1,
F2,
IND_UPDATE
select
C1_F1 F1,
C2_F2 F2,
'I' IND_UPDATE
from TEST_TARGET.C$_0FEASIBILITY
where (1=1)
and not exists (
select 'X'
from TEST_TARGET.FEASIBILITY T
where T.F1 = F1
and ((C2_F2 = T.F2) or (C2_F2 IS NULL and T.F2 IS NULL))
Error Message:
Error at Command Line:26 Column:44
Error report:
SQL Error: ORA-00904: "T"."F2": invalid identifier
00904. 00000 - "%s: invalid identifier"
*Cause:
*Action:
Line 26 is the last but one and Column 44 is after the "or".
In the beginning I used column headings, but I deleted them all after I had run into issues ORA-00904.
Meanwhile I think that the root cause must be s.th. different as I'm only using the generic names and I can't believe that T.F2 is a reserved word.
Any ideas? It would help me a lot to get this issue fixed.
Thanks
RobHi ,
Try to use Double Quote (") in the mapping field of target datastore.
Hope this help
Thanks. -
Getting ora:00904 invalid indentifier error while running i query
Hi,
I have a remote database and local database both are oracle 10gR2.Now i have written the below mentioned query in my local database and is working fine,but in case remote database it is throughing error ora:00904 invalid indentifier.
I had export the dump from remote db and import it on my local db and i tried the same and it is working fine on local after that also.
As i believe that this error usually come for column name not exist or column name or it's length or for any special character in column name of the table.But as i said it is working fine on local db but not in remote db though i am using the same dump for local and remote.
Though when i am querying the table i can able to fetch data for the any record but when i am using the below mentioned query for the same i am getting the error.As i am doing this to fecth the data for child parent related relationship.
Can any one suggest is there anything related to configaration or something else.
Please do let me know if you do want some more information on the query what i am doing inside of it.
Rgds,
Anit

I have a PL/SQL script processing information between Oracle database and MySQL database. My script ran perfectly with DG4ODBC 11.1.0.7. Then we upgraded Oracle to 10.2.0 and DG4ODBC 11.2.0.2. Now if I run my script from Solaris command line like ./myscript.shl, I get the following errors:
PL/SQL: ORA-00904: "cmswhit_moodle1"."mdl_grade_grades"."finalgrade": invalid identifier
PL/SQL: ORA-00904: "cmswhit_moodle1"."mdl_question_states"."attempt": invalid identifier
The strange thing is if I run the same query by cut and paste into sqlplus from command line, the query works perfectly without any problems.
What is the cause of this problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
JeffreyHi Klaus,
The problem was solved after I updated MySQL ODBC to a new version from 5.1.8 to 5.1.13.
Summary of the problem and its solution:
The Problem: It appears that dg4odbc 11.2.0.2 requires a newer version of MyODBC. Previously I used MyODBC 5.1.8 which ran into problems with dg4odbc 11.20.0.2.
The Solution: After I updated MyODBC to 5.1.13, my PL/SQL scripts all work.
I need to point out that with MyODBC 5.1.8, I can run queries and updates from SQL*Plus console, but now PL/SQL scripts.
I'll close this thread.
Once again, thank you and happy holidays.

ORA-00904 invalid identifier error
Here are the steps to reproduce this. My DB version is 9i R2.
1) create table xmlsun1 of xmltype;
2) create table xmlsun2 as select * from xmlsun1;
Two Tables of XML Type created successfully
3) insert into xmlsun1 values(xmltype('<employees><employee id="35"><FirstName>Tom</FirstName><LastName>Kyte</LastName></employee></employees>'));
4) insert into xmlsun2 values(xmltype('<employees><employee id="35"><FirstName>Tom</FirstName><LastName>Kyte</LastName></employee></employees>'));
Now when i query, i can see one record in each tables.
The problem is only when updation.
5) update xmlsun1 x
set value(x) = updatexml(value(x),'/employees/employee/@id','37')
where existsnode(value(x),'/employees/employee[FirstName = "Tom"]') = 1;
1 row updated
6) update xmlsun2 x
set value(x) = updatexml(value(x),'/employees/employee/@id','37')
where existsnode(value(x),'/employees/employee[FirstName = "Tom"]') = 1;
This updation fails with the error : ORA-01775: looping chain of synonyms
I tried to change alias of xmlsun2 to y
update xmlsun2 y
set value(y) = updatexml(value(y),'/employees/employee/@id','37')
where existsnode(value(y),'/employees/employee[FirstName = "Tom"]') = 1;
I get an error saying that Y is an invalid identifier. Now, how can i update the table xmlsun2? I can't use the alias x nor any other alias.
Thanks,
SundarI've filed bug 5560960 for this behavoir, which is still not what you are describing.. Do you have SYNONYMS defined somewhere in your example ?
