ORA-01026 error in TOAD
HI,
We are running Oracle Applications 11.5.10.2, database 9.2.0.6.0
A developer using TOAD (ver 7.4.0.3) got the following error when he executed a query for table description ( desc emp; )
ORA-01026: multiple buffers of size > 4000 in the bind list
I got the following solution from other oracle forum
Cause: More than one long buffer in the bind list.
Action: Change the buffer size to be less than 4000 for the bind variable bound to a normal column.
forum - error ORA-01026 :Multiple buffers of size > 4000 in the bind list
Can anyone tell me how this Action is done?
Thanks in advance
Bipin
In that case upgrade your TOAD. It could have to do with not being able to access a very large data dictonary. It could also be some different default setting sin the different toad versions.
Consider switching of the
Toad Options>>Editor>>Load Table names from database at time of Login for each connection
Toad Options>>Editor>>Load View names from database at time of first editor window

hai everybody,
iam getting error in while iam running the query..the following is the error in toad:-ORA-01026: multiple buffers of size > 4000 in the bind list ,so can anyone can help out to fix the problem
with regards
srinivasSrinivas,
You'll probably have more luck asking for help in a TOAD support forum such as
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/toad
or at the Quest site.
You also didn't tell us which version of TOAD and Oracle (something you should probably always provide).
I found the following the for example:
http://support.quest.com/eSupport/Search.asp?lstProductFamily=1283&lstProduct=268435520&Keywords=ORA-01026&optMatch=all&InitialSearchInd=y&lstResults=10&lstSummaries=With&searchMode=Solutions&searchOK=1&SortDir=total&NavDir=&CurrentPage=1&startingRecord=1&productName=Toad+for+Oracle

ORA-2002 : error while writing to audit trail
Hi all ,
I am oracle 11g and on SPARC OS.
I enabled audit in my database by setting the parameter audit_trail=DB and then i restarted my instance.
On doing so the database started but whenever i am trying to connect using pl/sql developer , i am getting the following list of errors :
ORA-00604 : error occured at recursive SQL level 1
ora-00904 : "DBID" invalid identifier
Ora-02002 : error while writing to audit trail
ORA-00604 : error occured at recursive SQL level 1
ora-00904 : "DBID" invalid identifier
I checked on the net for ora-02002 and increased the size of the system tablespace from 750 M to 1000M.
My system tablespace is dictionary managed.
bounced the database also , but still getting the same errors.
please help

ORA-04052: error occurred when looking up remote obj in mapping execution
Hi,
While executing an OWB mapping, I am getting the following error:

ORA-04052: error occurred when looking up remote object [email protected]

Actually, here UII_ODS_OWNER itself is the target schema and <<UIIVS.DEVENV1.BT.CO.UK>> is the database in which this schema exists. And the mapping "UII_D_MAP_SPC_INSTALLATION_SIT" is being executed in the same target schema UII_ODS_OWNER.
I am not sure why this above error is coming because such a dblink 'UIIVS.DEVENV1.BT.CO.UK' does not exist in the OWB generated package code. And the 2nd dblink 'BIP2S@BIPDRACONN' does not exist in the code, intead it exists as "BIP2S.DEVENV1.BT.CO.UK@BIPDRACONN" in the package code which is correct (as per OWB configuration & database).
Same error also comes when I try to execute the same mapping from the OWB DEPLOYMENT MANAGER.
Thanks & Regards,
leninGood morning Lenin,
Have you checked the implementation of the connectors and are your locations well registered?
Has a similar setup ever worked well?
Can you access the source table using SQL (e.g. with SQL*Plus or TOAD)?

Why am I getting an ORA-04052 error when I try to compile a Procedure?
Hi,
The following procedure I'm getting an ORA-04052 error when I try to compile the following procedure.
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE APPS.Find_String (
pin_referenced_name IN dba_dependencies.referenced_name%TYPE)
IS
cursor cur_get_dependancy
is
SELECT distinct owner, name, type
FROM [email protected] -- prod.world
WHERE lower(referenced_name) = lower(pin_referenced_name) --'ftbv_salesrep_all_1d'
AND referenced_type <> 'SYNONYM'
AND owner <> 'SYS'
order by name;
v_owner varchar2(40);
v_name varchar2(50);
v_type varchar2(40);
BEGIN
dbms_output.put_line(upper(pin_referenced_name)||' is found in the following objects.');
dbms_output.put_line(' ');
dbms_output.put_line(RPAD('OWNER', 30, ' ')||RPAD('NAME', 60, ' ')||RPAD('OBJECT TYPE', 30, ' '));
dbms_output.put_line('-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------');
FOR i IN cur_get_dependancy
LOOP
v_owner := RPAD(i.owner, 30, ' ');
v_name := RPAD(i.name, 45, ' ');
v_type := RPAD(i.type, 30, ' ');
dbms_output.put_line(v_owner ||v_name|| v_type);
END LOOP;
END find_string;I'm using the link [email protected]. The procedure compiles for other database links used in the cursor including the one commented to the right of the code 'prod.world'.
What's even stranger is that I took the SELECT statement
SELECT distinct owner, name, type
FROM [email protected] -- prod.world
WHERE lower(referenced_name) = lower(pin_referenced_name) --'ftbv_salesrep_all_1d'
AND referenced_type <> 'SYNONYM'
AND owner <> 'SYS'
order by name;out of the procedure and ran it on the command line using the @pinp.world link, the SQL statement ran just fine. But when I tried to compile the above procedure with that exact same SQL statement with the exact same link I get the following string of errors.
ORA-04052: error occurred when looking up remote object [email protected]
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-02068: following severe error from PINP
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channelHow can the link work just fine in a regular SQL statement but then cause an error when its compiled in code that otherwise compile just fine when using any other link or even just a plain database. Does anyone have any suggestions?OK Justin,
Here's the query by itself run in another database using the @pinp.world link and querying the dba_dependencies table in the pinp.world database. As you can see the query using this link works just fine returning the requested rows. I can't figure out why the compiler is having an issue with essentially this same query when I try to compile it in a cursor in TOAD. Also this is the database (dev1.world) that I'm trying to compile this Procedure in.
By the way I'm in an Oracle 9.2.0.6 database and TOAD v9.2.

Hi everybody,
I have installed on my laptop Oracle 8.1.6.0.0 Enterprise Edition, and after that Oracle 10.2.0.1 Enterprise Edition, and the two versions of Oracle are installed under the same operating system (which is XP SP2). When I use TOAD, I can connect to Oracle 8.1.6.0.0 database and to Oracle 10.2.0.1 database also. But when I use PowerBuilder 9.0 Enterprise Version to connect to Oracle 8.1.6.0.0 database , I have the error ORA-03134 "Connections to this server version are no longer supported". I "googled" for this ORA-03134 error , and the articles I saw say that this error is due to the fact that the 10g client can not connect to the 8i server. My question is the following: how to do so that when I use PowerBuilder 9.0 it's the 8i client -and not the 10g client- which connects to
the 8i server (because it seems like the error I have when I want to connect to Oracle 8.1.6.0.0 from PowerBuilder 9.0 is due to the fact that in this case it's 10g client which tries to connect to the 8i database).
Thanks in advance for your answers.What do you want with 8.1.6? It's desupported and was NEVER supported on XP. Even if the actual problem disappears,I would expect other problems still to arise.

ORA-12154 Error After Install of Enterprise Manager
I have a new new laptop with minimal software installed. Everything was fine and I was able to connect to 4 different Oracle 9i databases.
This morning I installed Oracle Enterprise Manager (10g) and now I get the dreaded ORA-12154 error.
I now find a copy of TNSNAMES.ORA in three places. I have copied the correct version to the two new 10G locations and I have verified that all three copies of TNSNAMES.ORA and SQLNET.ORA are correct and identical.
Do anybody have any idea what else could be wrong?I am certain the TNSNAMES.ORA file is fine as it is "pushed" from a central IT department. I have compared it to the one on a second computer (which has only 9i installed) in my office and they are identical.
I examined the Oracle 9i directories and there was no LISTENER.ORA anywhere. On the 9i only computer the command - C:\>dir listener.ora /s /p executed in a DOS window returned no files.
Everything was working fine until I installed Enterprise Manager 10g (10.2.0.2.1).
I have TOAD installed and it connects to both of the 9i development and production databases, so I know the TNSNAMES.ORA is okay.
It woudl seem that there is a conflict between 10g and 9i Developer/2000. -
ORA-01017 error and re-create password file? seek advices.
I used TOAD 9.5 to log in one Oracle 10g database with sys/password as sysdba. It worked fine always. However, today I tried to log in again and come across the ORA-01017 error. Invalid username/password. Then I went to windows server command line to log in as conn / as sysdba and also log in conn sys/password@sid as sysdba, I all logged in successfully. I checked the password file is in $oracle_home\database\. I logged in as normal user successfully.
My question is: what caused this ORA-error? how to fix it? Is it necessary for me to re-create password file to fix this? Or there is other options? Thanks.First though is double check make sure you have no typo when inputting username/password,
ORA-01017 is very specific error about wrong password, if you have problem with passwordfile you would likely to get ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
You can change your sys password using alter user statement, Oracle will sync the password file. -

Ora-01008 error with bind variable
Hi,
We have a test program which have one bind variable on a column which is varchar2(20), in the test program we've passed a 20 character string to the variable. The program returns error in one of the databases but all others are successful. We've checked the column is same in all of them.
Exception in thread "main" java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1

Could you please advise how to troubleshoot this issue?

And now we need the Java code that is constructing the query that you are using.
Your error is saying there is a second variable that you are not providing a value for.
And you said
