Hello,
I'm trying to do a full export of my DB,I have installed Oracle 9i dataserver(configured in shared mode) on Windows 2k, and the following error appears me:
. exportando acciones y objetos de procedimiento pre-esquema
EXP-00008: se ha encontrado un error 3113 de ORACLE
ORA-03113: fin de archivo en el canal de comunicación
EXP-00008: se ha encontrado un error 1041 de ORACLE
ORA-01041: error interno. No existe la extensión hostdef
EXP-00000: La exportación no ha terminado correctamente
I don't understand it, because I have 2 other DB instances created in the same data server and their exportation have finished correctly.
Any idea?¿
Thanks a lot,

Hi Rajesh , in my opinion you lost the communication with your
server . The server could be shutdown an restart again while
your aplication is running or waiting for any execution. With
Oracle Forms this happen an the forms loose the conection with
the server , but seems that this aplication was already running.
You only get close the forms , in NT , with the Task Manager
and End the Task . In the Sql Plus ocuurs the same but you can
close the section or make another conection with your database.
I hope help you ,

ORA-01041 hostdef extension doesnt exist during Oracle 9.0.1.1.1 install
Installing Oracle 9.0.1.1.1 with all default values on Windows 2000 Server SP2 gets the following errors during "Creating and Starting Oracle instance" in the Database Configuration Assistant:
ORA-01041 internal error: hostdef extension doesn't exist
ORA-24324 service handle not initialized
These errors are displayed numerous times. When the Assistant finally exits, the install finishes and reports everything was successfully installed. I cannot, however, connect with SQL plus as I get "ORA-03113 end of file on cummunication channel" errors.
I suppose the original problem reported "hostdef extension doesn't exist" is the main issue here. How do I rectify this situation?
Thanks for your help,
JoeHmm. I resolved the problem nonetheless. (I don't know how to "fix" a package spec.)
What I did: in a previous reply to someone else's question I found the solution. Don't ask me why it works nor why it is this way, because I don't know, but at least it now works.
ANSWER: Remove the Windows 2000 server from the Windows domain.
That's it. (Even logging in locally does not solve the problem if the server is still in the domain.) Then I reran the Database Configuration Assistant (which lo and behold ran successfully), and was able to connect from the server to itself via SQLPlus as well as from other clients with no more "ORA-03113 end of file on communication channel" errors.
I know this is not elegant, but I don't have the time to make Oracle work the way it is supposed to. I just need a DB installed so I can do my real work. Hopefully in a soon to be released version this will be corrected so a server on the Windows domain can install and run Oracle.
Joe
I had exactly the same problem today morning with a 8.1.7 DB. The cause was that a function was defined twice in a package spec...

SarithUse a 'Try and Error' strategy, remove the manual channel allocations from the script, these are not mandatory. Let RMAN automatically allocate channels.

Dear Friends,
In my workspace we have a application which is running on Forms 6 & backend oracle database is 9.2.0.1.0. My database was running fine till yesterday but then all of a sudden i have started getting this error of ORA-01041 HOST DEF. All clients get this error after 4-5 mins of starting their session. If connected on SQL, I get the error of ORA-03113 EOF Comm. Error after 4-5 mins of connection. I have checked the alert log file and user dump files but I have not seen any anomaly in these. The database is running perfectly well, the export/import runs fine. If I login as sysdba on the server, then I do not face any problem. I'm facing the problem only at the clients.
Any clues?Additionally:
1). upgrade your 9.2 from the base release to the latest patchset.
2). confirm the compatibility of 9.2 with Forms 6?
3). contact Oracle support.

ORA-01041: internal error. hostdef
Hi
I install oracle 9i
I selected the options to install
the Enterprise version with a General Purpose started database.
The installation went through smoothly until it reached the final step of using
the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant. The following are the 4 steps for
this phase :
1. Copying database files
2. Initializing database
3. Creating and Staring Oracle instance
4. Completing Database Creation
The installation completed the first 2 steps successfully. During the 3rd step, it
gives the error message :
ORA-01041: internal error. hostdef extension doesn't exist
Any ideas on what could be causing this ?
what should i do to resolve this error?
