    Hi,
    Cause: An attempt was done to do an OPEN RESETLOGS with a file that will be
    lost because it is offline.
    The file was not taken offline with the DROP option.
    Action: Either bring the file online and recover it, or take it offline with
    the DROP option.
    Tell me first, what is the reason that dat file 5 is offline. ?? Do you remember any thing at the time of restore point before_alter -> does the data file is online or offline. Make suer changes are persistent with respect to flashback.

  • Error in Recover Database -  ORA-01547 , ORA-01194 and ORA-01110

    Hello folks,
    I am facing a problem when recovering a database..
    I made each tablespace in backup mode, then copied the datafile. I revert back the tablespace status to normal status.Once all datafiles are copied to target location, i created the control file from the source db.
    I started the target db by
    sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
    then i executed the control file
    SQL>@ctrlfile.sql
    Control file got created.
    SQL>recover database until cancel using backup controlfile;
    it asked for archives. I gave the path one by one until everything was done.Now i gave 'cancel' as below.
    Specify log: {<RET>=suggested | filename | AUTO | CANCEL}
    cancel
    ORA-01547: warning: RECOVER succeeded but OPEN RESETLOGS would get error below
    ORA-01194: file 377 needs more recovery to be consistent
    ORA-01110: data file 377: '<path>/xxfndx01.dbf'
    ORA-01112: media recovery not started
    Could anyone please tell me where I went wrong and how can I move ahead from this stage???
    Later on, when I gave open resetlogs, it gave the same error(as below)
    SQL> alter database open resetlogs;
    alter database open resetlogs
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-01194: file 377 needs more recovery to be consistent
    ORA-01110: data file 377: '<path>/xxfndx01.dbf'
    Please let me know the mistake I made, how to avoid that and how to proceed now ???
    Thanks,

    Hello Cherrish,
    A very good question you have asked. I hope you realize that you're doing an incomplete recovery. There is some amount of information that is still there in the online redo-log, that would not be applied on your target db. Moreover when you're using backup controlfile, you do not know till which point you need to apply archive logs.
    For incomplete recovery, Oracle for some reason has been very strict about the recover database command. i.e.
    recover database using backup controlfile
    recover database using backup controlfile until cancel
    Is not same. It also applies to the command that you had given. By giving the command 'recover database using backup controlfile until cancel', you're telling Oracle that incomplete recovery is in process, and you would do resetelogs, to make sure all files are in sync. This is required when you have lost the redo-logs
    In case you have just lost the control file. All latest redo-logs, archive-logs and datafiles are okay (or have been restored), then recover database using backup controlfile; would work perfectly okay. and resetlogs would not be required.. and that would be a complete recovery
    I hope this all makes sense to you
    Regards
    Sudhanshu

  • Recover database until cancel using backup controlfile Fails with ORA-01547

    Hi
    First of all, I'm sorry for posting in this community as my issue doesn't have any thing to do with Rman, but I couldn't find any more relative Community to post in
    our System is Oracle EBS 11i and the OS on the production is AIX 5.2 / and the DR is 5.3 / DB version is 9i
    we have our Oracle ERP scheduled using crontab to take a database COLD backup daily using gtar -cvzf .
    yesterday I needed to clone the database only, so I used my usual method witch is
    1) on the source SQL> alter database backup controlfile to trace as '<dest>/makecntrlfil.sql'
    then you can delete the Commented header and change the first command from
    "CREATE CONTROLFILE REUSE DATABASE <SOURCE> NORESETLOGS ..."
    TO
    CREATE CONTROLFILE SET DATABASE <TARGET> RESETLOGS <NO>ARCHIVELOG
    2) de-compress the tgz files
    3) on the target edit the $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/init<source>.ora, $ORACLE_HOME/environment file
    4)run /ORACLE_HOME/appsutils/clone/bin/adcfgclone.prl
    5) delete old controlfiles
    6) on the database run the script you created on firs t step to create a new control fole
    7)recover database until cancel using backup controlfile
    8) alter database open resetlogs
    add new temp file system
    this way I used to do it
    but yesterday when trying to execute recover database it didn't work, and gave this error
    ORA-00279: change 6450277404 generated at 02/28/2013 02:47:56 needed for thread
    1
    ORA-00289: suggestion : /ERPDEV/DBASE/devdb/9.2.0/dbs/arch1_188462.dbf
    ORA-00280: change 6450277404 for thread 1 is in sequence #188462

    ORA-01547: warning: RECOVER succeeded but OPEN RESETLOGS would get error below
    ORA-01152: file 1 was not restored from a sufficiently old backup
    ORA-01110: data file 1: '/ERPDEV/DBASE/SYS/devdata/system01.dbf'
    nothing strange in the original alert log file in the time of taking the backup
    So can You please tell me what maybe wrong and why it used to work before and now it's not
    take in consideration that we are on archive log mode, but not using Rman or the archived Logs for backup and the sequence it needed ( 188462 ) is too old and already deleted on Production.

    Have you made backup of all archived redo log files? If so, why this one was disappeared?
    Have you applied all archived redo log files before that required archived redo log file?
    Please try to recover the database using the following command:
    RMAN> RESTORE DATABASE;
    RMAN> RECOVER DATABASE UNTIL SEQUENCE 29166;
    RMAN>ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS;

    Hi,
    Well, i assume that you still can perform recovery of your cloned database.
    So, do perform the log switch, and copy all new (not copied yet) archive log files to target db.
    Then issue the recover command and submit all remaining archive log, then 'cancel', and open with reset logs.
    Otherwise, if you still have all archive logs since your previous hot backup, you could take a new hot backup of the problematic tablespace (with finishing with a log switch), and recover your database.
    HTH,
    Thierry

    Try providing one of the online redo log files as input here and see if that helps in the recovery process.

  • Routine AFPPRD has encountered a fatal error. ORA-22297: warning: Open LOBs

    Hi,
    Sometime we are getting this issue ORA-22297: warning: Open LOBs .Could you please help us on that .We are not able to get the report due to that issue.
    Please suggest.

    The [url http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e17766/e19999.htm#sthref6563]docs state:
    >
    ORA-22297: warning: Open LOBs exist at transaction commit time
    Cause: An attempt was made to commit a transaction with open LOBs at transaction commit time.
    Action: This is just a warning. The transaction was commited successfully, but any domain or functional indexes on the open LOBs were not updated. You may want to rebuild those indexes.
    >
    I guess you have to do one of two things:
    Find the piece of code that did not close a LOB properly and fix it.
    Or alternatively catch the ORA-22297 exception in an exception handler and choose to ignore it so the rest of your code can continue.

    Hello
    I've written this to get to understand BLOBS. I had intended it to take a VARCHAR2 string, convert it to RAW and write the contents to a blob.
    However, DBMS_LOB.Write()) returns the error message "ORA-22297: warning: Open LOBs exist at transaction commit time". Can somebody put me right? Just why is this being returned?

  • Recover Database after opening in Resetlog

    Hi All,
    Is it possible to recover datbase after opening it in resetlog.
    Scenoria:
    Due to some serious update exceuted on a particular table , I want to extract one table from previous day morning backup and apply archive still 4PM .
    But after recovering the datbase still 2PM ..I opened the database with resretlog .
    Now how can I apply archive generated after 2 clock.
    Do I need to restore the database again?
    Thanks

    Do I need to restore the database again?Yes. You have to restore the database and proceed until applying archive logs upto 4pm.
    RESETLOGS - Updates all current datafiles and online redo logs and all subsequent archived redo logs with a new RESETLOGS SCN and time stamp.Archives the current online redo logs (or up to the last redo record before redo corruption if corruption is found), clears the contents of the online redo logs, and resets the online redo logs to log sequence 1.

  • I followed the instructions for making an APP TAB and succeeded BUT everytime I close Firefox, the app tab disappears upon re-opening. Can someone help please? I held the control button plus I clicked and selected the "Pin..as app tab".

    As my question asks, I followed instructions for creating an APP TAB for my web mail account, and succeeded but each time I close and re-open Firefox, the app tab disappears. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong please?

    For better or worse, I think it's part of the design for the app tabs to be window specific. I know my first reply didn't solve your problem, but that was one way that worked for me to get the app tabs back when I restarted Firefox. Also I noticed the tag for this post is Firefox 4. I've only tried it with Firefox 5.
    I agree with you that the way it's working isn't ideal. For the time being, I've stopped using the app tabs. Maybe they'll fix/improve it soon.

  • Error during restore/recovery and 'open resetlogs'

    Hello forum. I'm attempting to restore a database to a new host and have run into an error during the opening of the database (with resetlogs). The renaming of the datafiles, restore, switching of datafiles, and recovery are all done by an rman script, the contents of which are below:

    RMAN> **end-of-file**
    I searched for a decription of the 06054 error, and found that if the archive logs weren't available, then to run "alter database open resetlogs;", which I did. Here's the output:
    RMAN> alter database open resetlogs;
    database opened
    RMAN-06900: WARNING: unable to generate V$RMAN_STATUS or V$RMAN_OUTPUT row
    RMAN-06901: WARNING: disabling update of the V$RMAN_STATUS and V$RMAN_OUTPUT rows
    ORACLE error from target database:
    ORA-06553: PLS-801: internal error [56319]
    I've done all of this twice now, with the same result. I've googled PLS-801 and found more than a few instances of people getting this code, but not during a database open after a restore. Can anyone shed some light on what might have gone wrong? In the interest of brevity, I left out the rest of the restore process prior to running the database restore, but other than setting "compatible" and "db_recovery_file_dest_size", it was all by the book.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the reply Pierre.
    I am not using RMAN Duplicate. Yes, the source of the backup is an RAC. The destination is a single server, with the DB on the filesystem. Here's an overview of of the commands I ran and the procedure.
    Copied tar'd backup controlfile and datafiles to destination machine. Untar'd. Install 10.2.0.1.0 on destination machine, patch to 10.2.0.2.0.
    OS> sqlplus /nologin
    SQL> alter system set compatible = '10.2.0.2.0' scope=spfile;
    SQL> alter system set db_recovery_dest_file_size = '8g'; scope spfile;
    SQL> shutdown immediate;
    SQL> startup; (to verify changes took...)
    SQL> shutdown immediate;
    OS> Copy control file from untar'd dir and place in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/, truncate name to c-DBID-date-00.
    OS> rman target /
    RMAN> startup nomount;
    RMAN> set dbid <dbid from control file>;
    RMAN> restore controlfile from autobackup; (finds control file with no problem...)
    RMAN> alter database mount;
    RMAN> @/home/oracle/rman_dr.rman (script cited in first post, to rename datafiles from ASM to filesystem, restore, switch files, and recover...)
    RMAN> alter database open resetlogs; (as cited before...)
    If I'm not using Duplicate and not specifying dates, the UNTIL/SET UNTIL commands aren't necessary, correct?

  • Open resetlogs is not  working when creating clone db with online backup

    Hi All,
    I am trying to create a clone database using hot backup of a database .
    STEPS THAT I FOLLOWED
    LET ----- >CURRENT_DB NAME=DEV
    CLONE DATABASE NAME=DEVCLONE
    steps PERFORMED FORM DEV DB
    - put the database in backup mode using 'alter database begin backup'
    - copy all the data files to a different folder
    - during copy i have performed some operations on the DB (creating users, tables, dmls etc...)
    - in between copying i also performed log switch
    - after completion of copy , "alter database end backup"
    - created a backup control file in a human readable format (alter database backup controlfile to trace as ........)
    steps performed for clone DB side ((DEVCLONE)
    - created a parameter file for the database .
    - modified the backup control file so that it will point to the location of copied destination of datafiles
    - set the ORACLE_SID
    - then 'sqlplus / as sysdba
    - starup nomount
    - run the modified control file ( created a control file for the clone database)
    - recover the database using "recover database using backup controlfile"
    I have provided the archive files that it was asking for (archive logs that has been generated in DEV DB)
    then i canceled the recovery by typing "cancel"
    - recover database using backup controlfile until cancel;
    then typed "cancel"
    - then try to open the database with open resetlogs but it showed below error
    alter database open resetlogs
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-01195: online backup of file 1 needs more recovery to be consistent
    ORA-01110: data file 1: 'D:\DATA_GUARD\DEVHOT\SYSTEM01.DBF'
    please help me on this ......
    Thanks

    Thanks , now i am able to open the DB in open reset logs mode .
    Previously , when i had not taken the archive log after "alter database end backup" , i was not able to open the db with open resetlogs because the
    fuzzy status of all the datafile headers were YES .
    But after taking the archive log that got generated after "alter database end backup" and applying it on the clone db(Created with HOT backup ) the datafile_header status got changed from YES to NO .
    So for that i am able to open the clone db with open resetlogs .
    Can you please help me with a small description why this is happening ?
    Thanks.......
