ORA-03113 WITH CREATION OF A SPATIAL INDEX
Hello,
the creation of a spatial index with 11G database interrupts with:
ORA-03113 end-of-file on communication channel.
The table contains only point data, but has over 3.000.000 data records.
Has anyone an idea what to do?
Anna
Anna,
A couple of questions.
1 Does this happen all the time?
2 Can you select from table consistently?
3 How long does it take from issuing the command to getting the error?
The error is indicating a network timeout or similar.
Regards.
Ivan

Hi All,
I am getting Ora-03113 (End-of-Communication) while executing Java Stored procedure. Java Stored Procedure executes Sqlldr on server. Server OS is Linux 86x.
Database is -- Oracle with Infrastructure.
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.3.1 - Prod
PL/SQL Release 10.1.0.3.1 - Production
CORE 10.1.0.3.0 Production
TNS for Linux: Version 10.1.0.3.0 - Production

now disappeared for all instances of this problem.

We'll try this, but it seems to be connection-oriented. If we have a pool
of 5 connections, and an exception happens, only that connection seems tobe
affected. The other connections in the pool work fine, and the proc works
for those connections.
"Joseph Weinstein" <[email protected]> wrote in message

Hi.
The issue is likely related to our caching of PreparedStatements
for performance. If some DBMS failure occurs which could invalidate
a PreparedStatement/cursor such that it could never be re-used,
even after clearParameters) are called etc, then this case might
occur. Please take the attached jar file, and add it to the
weblogic.classpath ahead of the standard weblogic stuff, by
editing your startWebLogic script. This will turn off caching, and
should make the problem go away. Let me know...

Hi John,
I have researched about this - but could not find a known issue
which
may
be
related to this.
Which JDBC driver are you using?

Hi everyone.
I'm running a SQLServer7 migration using migration workbench. The only objects to migrate are: tables, users: views: indexes and foreign keys.
It seesm to go fine with the migration, thus workbench is both connected to the SQLServer and the Oracle Workbench Repository in wich the Oracle Model is created. BUT, after a while and when the view creatiion should go on, I get this message (myhost is the host in wich target oracle instance would be the conversion).
" Failed to connect to /@myhost:1525:MANU. Check the password in the users"s Creation Options in the Oracle Model to make sure it is correct."
So it seems that It tries to connect as OS user...but it was working fine, so why is it trying to re-connect if data was migrating?
any solution?
thanks a lot!!See my previous reply on another thread.

Oracle 9 spatial index export/import
Hi,
when exporting/importing a user via exp/imp I encounter a problem with the numeric characters encoding during creation of a spatial index.
Imp tool produces script like this:
"BEGIN "
"execute immediate 'INSERT INTO USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA values (''POINTS'',''GEOMETRY'',mdsys.SDO_dim_array(MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ELEMENT(''X'',50000000,160000000,,005),MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ELEMENT(''Y'',450000000,600000000,,005)),,005) ' ; "
"COMMIT; END;"
Problem is with wrong representation of the numeric value '0.005' as ,005.
Originally, the index was created via
INSERT INTO USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA
VALUES (
'points',
'geometry',
MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ARRAY(
MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('X',-125000000,-115000000, '0.005'),
MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('Y', 30000000, 42100000, '0.005')
NULL
Any hints how to reimport the index correctly?
Thanks,
BogartYou might need to set the NLS_LANG environment variable to get character set conversion done on import (I don't know this unfortunately - it has never been a problem for me).
There is a section on character set conversions in the utilities manual. -
Hi all.
I have a problem during the creation of a spatial index for a table column.
The metadata is in the USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA VIEW, but Oracle throws the message:
ORA-29855: se ha producido un error en la ejecución de la rutina ODCIINDEXCREATE
ORA-13203: fallo al leer la vista USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA
ORA-13203: fallo al leer la vista USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA
ORA-06512: en "MDSYS.SDO_INDEX_METHOD_10I", línea 10
The code that i use to create the index is:
DELETE FROM USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA;
INSERT INTO USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA
VALUES (
'E011_CIUDADES',
'F011_GEO',
MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ARRAY(
MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('Longitud', -180, 180, 10), -- 10 meters tolerance
MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('Latitud', -90, 90, 10) -- 10 meters tolerance
8307 -- SRID for 'Longitude / Latitude (WGS 84)' coordinate system
CREATE INDEX IX_SPATIAL_011_GEO
ON SYSTEM.E011_CIUDADES(F011_GEO)
INDEXTYPE IS MDSYS.SPATIAL_INDEX
PARAMETERS ('tablespace=ASOUSU');
I will apreciate any help. Thanks.This is very bad:
CREATE INDEX IX_SPATIAL_011_GEO ON SYSTEM.E011_CIUDADES(F011_GEO)
INDEXTYPE IS MDSYS.SPATIAL_INDEX PARAMETERS ('tablespace=ASOUSU');It means you've stored spatial data in the SYSTEM user's schema, which, as noted, is mucho malo. Either that, or it is a typo and that is why you got: fallo al leer la vista USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA -
ORA-03113 End of communication channgel
It's strange one particular sql statement is causing the issues. It's going across link on one table ( PS_RNA_FO_CONTACT ), which is a link to another database from HR.
Below is the statement comes back with ORA-03113 with end of comminication channel with a core dump creating in the database, if we run in toad or sqlplus.
SELECT A.FIRST_NAME || ' ' || A.LAST_NAME ,C.FIRST_NAME || ' ' || C.LAST_NAME ,A.JOBTITLE ,B.NAME1 ,A.STATE ,( SELECT URL FROM PSURLDEFN WHERE URL_ID= 'RNA_HRS_ONBRD_VIDEO') AS URL FROM sysadm.PS_RNA_OB_INVITE A ,PS_CUSTOMER B ,sysadm.PS_RNA_FO_CONTACT C WHERE A.RNA_OB_INVITN_ID=:1 AND B.SETID='SHARE' AND B.CUST_ID=A.CUST_ID AND C.SETID=B.SETID AND C.CONTACT_ID=A.CONTACT_ID AND C.EFFDT=( SELECT MAX(Z.EFFDT) FROM sysadm.PS_RNA_FO_CONTACT Z WHERE C.SETID=Z.SETID AND C.CONTACT_ID=Z.CONTACT_ID)
I dropped the database link, synonym and recreated it, still no success but,
the following work arounds work fine.
1. If I create a view on the same table and use the view comes back fine fine.
2. If bind variable is hard coded with some value, query returns
3. If SELECT URL FROM PSURLDEFN WHERE URL_ID= 'RNA_HRS_ONBRD_VIDEO' is taken out of the select and joined in the where clause works fine, but that would bring cartesian product as there is no joining key.
I opened up a case with Oracle, but if any body can shed some light, will be helpful.It will almost certainly be a bug.
On one of the databases you should have an alert log entry detailing a trace file which will have further information related probably to an underlying ORA-00600 or ORA-07445.
The additional information in the trace file can be used in the Oracle Support online ORA-00600/07445 lookup tool. -
Spatial index creation for table with more than one geometry columns?
I have table with more than one geometry columns.
I'v added in user_sdo_geom_metadata table record for every column in the table.

ORA-03113 in spatial query with xmlReader
I run a spatial query with xmlReader. but it occurs a ORA-03113 exception. If i use the OracleDataReader,not through xml, the execution is ok. But i have to get the geometry data through xml. I have try to set the validate connection to True, but it seems useless.
Can some one help me?Thx a lots.
Here is my code:
string id = "scott";
string psw = "tiger";
string source = "Oracle";
string connectionstring = "User Id="+id+";password="+psw+";data source="+source+";validate connection=true";
string sql ="select cname from L218 where sdo_relate(L218.GEOLOC,MDSYS.SDO_geometry(2003,NULL,NULL,MDSYS.SDO_elem_info_array(1,1003,3),MDSYS.SDO_ordinate_array(295596.60260187,2761786.9958782, 316370.598147679,2789383.2780762)),'mask=anyinteract')='TRUE'";

XmlDocument xmlDocument = new XmlDocument();
xmlDocument.PreserveWhitespace = false;
xmlDocument.Load(xmlReader);
Console.WriteLine(xmlDocument.OuterXml);

I ran the validation and some of the geometries were invalid. I have now corrected these and all are OK. The db version is 817. However, I am still getting the same error. It appears to be dependant on what cordinates the query is searching:

Substriute those coordinates for 278792,187308,278876,187393 and query works.
Any ideas??

Edited by: crystal13 on 18-giu-2010 2.03Hi,
it looks like your tablespace USERS is to small. You have no space left. So extend the size of the tablespace by enlarging the file underneath or putting a second one to it, or put the tablespace in AUTOEXTEND mode. Spatial index creation error -ORA-13011: value is out of range
I am trying to create a spatial index and this is what I get.

I can't find any documentation as to how to fix this. How do you determine which row of data is out of range? Any help would be greatly appreciated!Hi Jeff,
The data at rowid AAAFXYAADAAABxyAAD has a problem.
Can see what the issue is by doing:
select sdo_geom.validate_geometry(geom_col_name,diminfo)
from your_table_name a, user_sdo_geom_metadata b
where b.table_name='YOUR_TABLE_NAME'
and a.rowid='AAAFXYAADAAABxyAAD';
If you are using Oracle9iR2 then this would be even better:
select sdo_geom.validate_geometry_with_context(geom_col_name,diminfo)
from your_table_name a, user_sdo_geom_metadata b
where b.table_name='YOUR_TABLE_NAME'
and a.rowid='AAAFXYAADAAABxyAAD'; -

Why do i get ORA-03113 when doing a spatial query against union all view?

Trouble with creating Spatial Indexes and "user_sdo_geom_metadata"
G'day All,
I've encountered a weird issue while playing around with SDO_GEOMETRY objects under Oracle Apex v3.0.1 on Oracle XE running on Windows Vista.
The issue started when I attempted to create the spatial index :
create index geotag_sdx on geotag(location)
indextype is mdsys.spatial_index;
and I got the following error:
ORA-29855: error occurred in the execution of ODCIINDEXCREATE routine
ORA-13203: failed to read USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA view
ORA-13203: failed to read USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA view
I scratched my head for a sec and thought WTF ? my metadata insert worked... well I was sure it did. However when I ran a select from "user_sdo_geom_metadata" there was no rows, so I tried again and I got an error "name is already used by an existing object", again I thought WTF ?
After getting the source for the "updatable" view "MDSYS.user_sdo_geom_metadata" I could see that the view was filter by CURRENT_SCHEMA:
SELECT SDO_TABLE_NAME TABLE_NAME, SDO_COLUMN_NAME COLUMN_NAME, SDO_DIMINFO DIMINFO, SDO_SRID SRID
FROM SDO_GEOM_METADATA_TABLE
WHERE sdo_owner = sys_context('userenv', 'CURRENT_SCHEMA')
I ran SELECT sys_context('userenv', 'CURRENT_SCHEMA') FROM DUAL and it correctly returned the SCHMEA name.
So from sqlplus and logged in a sys/sysdba I ran a select statement from MDSYS.SDO_GEOM_METADATA_TABLE and i saw the problem, the record was inserted with a SDO_OWNER value of "ANONYMOUS".
When I logged as the SCHEMA via sqlplus and ran the metadata insert statement it worked fine an d the index could be created.
Has anyone ran into this issue and how did you fix it as I'm concerned or know what I might be doing wrong ?
Any help would be most appreciated ?
Regards
MarkHi Marks,
Had a quick look at the stored procedure I'm using and there it is. We don't insert into user_sdo_geom_metadatas but in mdsys.sdo_geom_metadata_table and specify the owner ourselves. Of course, you need a direct grant on mdsys.sdo_geom_metadata_table to be able to do this from a stored procedure.
Seems we had the problem you are facing even without Apex. Our application has a special admin user that has execute privs on certain packages. But when running the spatial index creation procedure we ran into this "owner" problem.
Here they use all_sdo_geom_metadata:

I previously used the software on a windows 7 machine. I would like to be able to use both programs on my new windows 8 laptop, but it won't recognise the disks/ load them. Does anyone know a way around this problem?
