could you help on this...?
waiting for your favorable reply,
thanks in advance..
RegardsHi;
This error occurs when you have run a switchover/ failover, you may have two parallel standby's but when you pass the command for switchover the one standby is not aware of what you have done.
The point is that all standby should know who is your primary & standby's should also be aware of each other in their "pfiles" now, you should either recreate the standby or open with reset logs.
ora-600 occurs due to different incarnation.
Hope this will help you
if you switch multiple logfiles in primary, & run >>
alter database recover managed standby database disconnect;
your standby will start syncing.
Hope this will help you -
ORA-00235 Standby Database Controlfile problem
Dear fellow dbas,
I am just starting to become acquainted with high availability and have to solve following problem.
We have a RAC database with a standby database that is out of sync. In fact the standby database is running in async mode but archived redo logs are not applied.
They are successfully forwarded from the primary instance to the standby db though. Looking at the alert.log I discovered an ORA-00235 error - control file fixed table inconsistent due to concurrent update.
As a result of this I have a huge gap between the primary and standby database.
Can you please give me a step to step tutorial, how I can resolve this issue?
Any help is appreciated!
Many thanks,
SebastianHello Anand,
I am using 11.1.0.7.0.
My standby database is a cluster database as well. I shut both instances down using srvctl and created a standby controlfile from my primary instance, which I copied to the respective locations referred to in the spfile of my dataguard database. Afterwards I started up and issued a ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE DISCONNECT FROM SESSION;
The database does not open and the alert.log states ORA-01124 "cannot recover datafile 1 - file is in use or recovery".
Next, the background media recovery process was shut down.
What should I do, to get my standby back running?
Should I place the primary database in backup mode and copy the datafiles to my standby db?
Afterwards I would create a standby controlfile again and overwrite the standby ones.
Maybe you assist in pointing at the next steps.
Many thanks,
Sebastian -
Standby Database with Recovery Manager
Logical standby database resides on another server. some archive log files are not synced with standby database
I want to recreate standby database with rman
Any step by step documentation ?Before you recreate all and everything, try the troubleshoot hints in the document mentioned in the previous post.

DBXML database requires recovery often
I am running a dbxml database (2.4.13, DB: 4.7.25) with transactions. There are not many calls to the database daily (<200 on average), however it keeps exiting with an exception requesting that recovery be run:
Db Error: PANIC: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery
almost daily, and interfering with the full system operation since it requires the database. I am not sure why this is happening so often. Any suggestions?
DougThere is a strict requirement that write operations are done one at a time. You can get by without it if things are kinda slow but not consistenly. You can manage it with your own coding locks. Also, I experienced lots of issues with recovery when I had my database on a san mount. When I switched it to local machine, things got lots better.

MANAGED RECOVERY AT STANDBY DATABASE REQURING OLD ARCHIVELOGS ORA-00308
Oracle 9.2.0.4
HP-UX 11.11i
The database in Archivelog mode, single standby database in managed recovery
mode.
keeping standby in sync with manual applying the ARCHIVELOG from primary to
standby database.
primary database was 3 REDO log members of 100 MB with 1 member each.
what i did, 1 drop and re-create the INACTIVE REDO group for all three, and
make them
5 REDO logs of 200 MB with 1 member each,
then in order to keep fresh copy of primary database onto standby database, i
send the cold backup after 15 days (last week) with standby controlfile.
now, with that standby controlfile and the database, i can mount the database
but while to open the database, receives messages as , it requiring the
ARCHIVELOGS generated log time ago.
changes the REDO groups from 3 to 5 and size 100 to 200 MB at INACTIVE state

ORA-01152 -- When Bringing Up Standby Database
Hi All,
I'm trying to bring a standbye database on the same server as my primary database. i'm doing this to play around, hoping to do it with PRD using separate servers. I have found several good step by step references for doing this. I'm currently using:
http://www.dbaclick.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=366&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0
I have tried several things to get this up. I have shutdown the primary db and manually copied the datafiles to the standby location and then created a standby control file. I have also tried taking an image copy of the datafiles using RMAN and then creating the standby control file. Both produce same result. I can startup mount the Standby db but when i try to open the standby db in read only mode i get the following:
ORA-16004: backup database requires recovery
ORA-01152: file 1 was not restored from a sufficiently old backup
ORA-01110: data file 1:
'C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\standby\SYSTEM01.DBF'
Does anyone have any idea as to why i'm getting this? Is there a preferred way to copy the primary db's datafiles to create standby. According to my instructions the manually copied datafiles shoudl be taken BEFORE the standby control file is generated. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... i've been wrestling with this for far too long.
Thanks,i got it to go. I believe what i did wrong was not configure my parameters files correctly. LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2 was erroring out so the archive logs were not applied to the standby database. I manually copied and applied the archive logs to my Standbye. I was then able to open in read only. After that I had to create a password file for my standby which made the LOG_ARCIVE_DEST_2 parameter work.
I'm good to go... thanks -
Error while trying to open physical standby database - (DATA GUARD)
Hi Everyone,
I have problems in opening the database of the physical standby in read- write mode/ read only mode. I have a primary server which is running on 2 node RAC and the standby on a seperate single server being used as DR. I recently got this server and my aim was to isolate the standby server from primary server and perform few test. As it has never been tested even once.

SCN can be differ in standby and it can be behind to primary based on the backup you have restored. Of course by performing recovery you can synchronize standby with primary database. You can use incremental backups for standby using link http://www.oracle-ckpt.com/rman-incremental-backups-to-roll-forward-a-physical-standby-database-2/

ERROR in creating a Physical Standby Database
Hello all,
I am using a Windows Vista O/S and Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition. Both my primary and standby are on the same host. Created standby instance using oradim.
I have followed instruction in the documentation and created a manual standby database.
primary database is 'orcl'
standby database is 'stby'
My primary archives is not being copied to the the stby location as confirmed by an error shown:
SQL> select dest_name, status from v$archive_dest_status
DEST_NAME
STATUS
LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_1
VALID
LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2
ERROR
Also my standby does not open in read only mode, error:
SQL> ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE DISCONNECT FROM SESSION;
ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE DISCONNECT FROM SESSION
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01153: an incompatible media recovery is active
SQL> ALTER DATABASE open read only;
ALTER DATABASE open read only
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01154: database busy. Open, close, mount, and dismount not allowed now
I have copied both my prim and stby init.ora here for your reference

Any help would be much appreciated. Apologies for my ignorance!
Thanks!

nullOK that solves part of the problem.
Now this is very strange error I am getting. The path it looks to recover from archive is not right, it should point as per my actual archive log dest. See below.
