ORA-15032 and ORA-15177 alter diskgroup rename directory

Hi,
Oracle 11.2.0.1, Oracle Linux 5.5
I would like to do some RMAN testing and for this reason rename an existing directory in an ASM diskgroup, temporarily.
The database 'orcl' instance is shutdown. I have tried the following using the ASM/Grid environment:
Connected to:
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
With the Automatic Storage Management option
SQL> alter diskgroup DATA rename directory '+DATA/ORCL' TO '+DATA/OLDORCL';
alter diskgroup DATA rename directory '+DATA/ORCL' TO '+DATA/OLDORCL'
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-15032: not all alterations performed
ORA-15177: cannot operate on system aliases
ASMCMD> ls -l

Hi,
Unfortunately we can not do this. It's a shame.
ASM disk groups contain a system-generated hierarchical directory structure for storing ASM files. System created directories (those containing system-generated names) cannot be renamed.

DB version is 10.2.0.2 and Applications 12.0.6 on RHEL 4
While creating data file mistakenly we created with '?' as follows:

After that we tried to revert back by moving to original name usinf os commnds i.e tx_?data53.dbf and tried to open the database as follows but getting error message as follows:
SQL> startup mount

Variable Size 440402692 bytes
Database Buffers 620756992 bytes

ORA-25150 Altering of extent parameters not allowed

I had created an index as below
SQL> create index sys.emp_name_idx
2> on sys.emp(emp_name)
3> pctfree 30
4> storage( initial 200k next 200k pctincrease 0 maxextents 50)
5> tablespace indx;
Index Created.
Now i am trying to alter storage parameters of the index as below:-
SQL> Alter index emp_name_idx
2> storage( next 400k maxextents 100);
ERROR AT LINE 1
ora 25150 - aLTERING OF EXTENT PARAMETERS NOT PERMITTED

Text:     ALTERING of extent parameters not permitted
Cause:     An attempt was made to alter the extent parameters for a segment in a
     tablespace with autoallocate or uniform extent allocation policy.
Action:     Remove the appropriate extent parameters from the command.

DB version : 11.1.0.7
OS : HP-UX Itanum
EBS -11.5.10.2
We are doing daily refresh/clone of a database instance from production. Recently we are seeing the growth of $ORACLE_HOME/dbs directory during this
refresh.   During investigation we find out that
1) When we rename the database files after database restoration. Each below command genrating the 24MB of log file under $ORACLE_HOME/dbs.
Command :
alter database rename file '/db02/prod/XDB.dbf' to '/db02/test/XDB.dbf';
alter database rename file '/db02/prod/a_archive01.dbf' to '/db02/test/a_archive01.dbf';
Logfiles under $ORACLE_HOME/dbs on target :
-rw-r----- xxxxx 24379392 Sep 20 05:30 ./dbs/c-1437102747-20130920-02
-rw-r----- xxxxx 24379392 Sep 20 05:30 ./dbs/c-1437102747-20130920-03
2) After few minutes, these logs got removed from the directory.
3) Did not find anything unusual in the alert log.

These are controlfile autobackups.   Every time you make a physical change to the database structure, an autobackup is created. In 11.2, the frequency is reduced -- for example if you make 5 changes in quick succession, one autobackup is created.
CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON    would be visible when you do a SHOW ALL in rman.

ZFS Storage supports LDAP, NIS, AD as directory service.
Hope Open Directory is also based on LDAP and may work in similar fashion.

I get mad about an APEX import error which occurs maybe one time every second month.
ORA-20001: GET_BLOCK Error. ORA-20001: Execution of the statement was unsuccessful.
ORA-02047: cannot join the distributed transaction in progress <pre>

Hi Joel, Scott and the rest of the community.
I went on determine the import problem. It occurred two more times since the last post.
First time:
This time was a bit different. I wanted to create a new workspace and got the error "ORA-02047: cannot join the distributed transaction in progress" when I clicked on the button to create a new workspace after I entered all information to it.
I restarted the OAS and worked again
Second time:
During an application import the error occurred again and I tried the following things:
As data owner (only one db link exist)
ALTER SESSION CLOSE DATABASE LINK DBMS_CLRDBLINK;Result no open database links to close
As sys (all database links)
-- The following script queries the DBA_DB_LINKS view to access link information:
SELECT * FROM DBA_DB_LINKS;
-- close of all database links
ALTER SESSION CLOSE DATABASE LINK username.db_link_name;
...Result no database links open. Try of import ended with same error.
Check of apex_public_user no (open) db_links. No objects locked.
I had to restart the OAS again.
Any ideas?

We are following the process to replace some tables in UAT/PROD with new structure of tables.
So for example for Table A in Schema A:
Step1- Create TableA_NEW with the required structure and partitions.
Step2- Insert into TableA_NEW Select * from TableA.
Step3- Alter Table TableA Rename to TableA_OLD --Take Backup of TableA
Step4- Alter Table TableA_NEW Rename to TableA --Change the New table ti Original Table
Now do I need to reapply all the grants and synonyms originally applied to TableA.
When I test in Dev, all the grants and synonyms still hold. But I can't take any chances for UAT/PROD.
Also when I rollback these changes and Rename the tables back to Original table.
Then do I need to Reapply all the grants and synonyms originally applied to TableA.
Please suggest..

Step4- Alter Table TableA_NEW Rename to TableA --Change the New table ti Original Table New table still does not have grants, synonym now valid
So, grants disappear but synonym will be valid at end of process.

ORA-01653: unable to extend table RMAN.ROUT by 128 in tablespace USERS
USERS is locally managed , now how can i extend to unlimited as I can't with command
alter table rman.rout storage(maxextents unlimited)

I request to search in forums, since you can find the solutions by your self with out any help.
Check the space from "dba_free_space" with respect to tablespace.
Add a New data file or Resize the data file

ORA-14136: ALTER TABLE EXCHANGE (FGAC/VPN)

I am getting this error when I am trying to do a partition exchange however the user id that is doing the exchange has been granted "expemt access policy" and the policy itself has been disabled. I can stop the error by dropping the policy but that is not a useful solution. Why am I getting this error and how do I fix it?
Any help would be appreciated.

I guess you have an active RLS-security on your table:
SELECT * FROM dba_policies WHERE object_owner='&your_schema' AND object_name='&your_table_name';
If so,
- drop the policy (DBMS_RLS.DROP_POLICY),
- do the exchange partition and
- re-create the policy again (DBMS_RLS.ADD_POLICY)
Another option with GRANT EXEMPT POLICY to your schema is probably too much. But maybe a possibility if you are the only schema in the database and have the DBA privileges.

It is because your tablespace has "uniform" or "autoallocate" extent allocation policy.
So remove the extent parameters from the alter command.
