ORA-20011: Approximate NDV failed: ORA-29913: error in executing ODCIEXTTAB

Hello All,
I am using Oracle 11.2.0.3
in my alert logs I found the below errors:
ORA-20011: Approximate NDV failed: ORA-29913: error in executing ODCIEXTTABLEOPEN callout
KUP-11024: This external table can only be accessed from within a Data Pump job.to resolve that i did the below steps:
SELECT owner_name, job_name, operation, job_mode,
state, attached_sessions
FROM dba_datapump_jobs
WHERE job_name NOT LIKE 'BIN$%'
ORDER BY 1,2; the result was that there is two running jobs and the attached_session flag was equal to 1, something like the below:
OWNER_NAME JOB_NAME            OPERATION JOB_MODE  STATE       ATTACHED
SCOTT      SYS_IMPORT_TABLE_05      IMPORT TABLE RUNNING        1
SCOTT      SYS_IMPORT_TABLE_01 IMPORT TABLE     RUNNING        1 so i stopped these 2 jobs using the below statements:
SET serveroutput on
SET lines 100
DECLARE
   h1 NUMBER;
BEGIN
   h1 := DBMS_DATAPUMP.ATTACH('SYS_IMPORT_TABLE_05','SCOTT');
   DBMS_DATAPUMP.STOP_JOB (h1);
END;
SET serveroutput on
SET lines 100
DECLARE
   h1 NUMBER;
BEGIN
   h1 := DBMS_DATAPUMP.ATTACH('SYS_IMPORT_TABLE_01','SCOTT');
   DBMS_DATAPUMP.STOP_JOB (h1);
END;
/now the result become like below as stop pending in the state column:
OWNER_NAME JOB_NAME            OPERATION JOB_MODE  STATE       ATTACHED
SCOTT      SYS_IMPORT_TABLE_05      IMPORT TABLE STOP PENDING 1
SCOTT      SYS_IMPORT_TABLE_01 IMPORT TABLE     STOP PENDING 1 for that I did more research and i dropped two temporary external tables after I got their names using the below query:
select OWNER,OBJECT_NAME,OBJECT_TYPE, status,
to_char(CREATED,'dd-mon-yyyy hh24:mi:ss') created
,to_char(LAST_DDL_TIME , 'dd-mon-yyyy hh24:mi:ss') last_ddl_time
from dba_objects
where object_name like 'ET$%'
/but nothing changed in the output of the below query, the state stayed STOP PENDING
SELECT owner_name, job_name, operation, job_mode,
state, attached_sessions
FROM dba_datapump_jobs
WHERE job_name NOT LIKE 'BIN$%'
ORDER BY 1,2; for that I used stop job but with the immediate flag as 1
DBMS_DATAPUMP.STOP_JOB (h1,1); now the result of the query is NOT RUNNING in the state column:
OWNER_NAME JOB_NAME            OPERATION JOB_MODE  STATE       ATTACHED
SCOTT      SYS_IMPORT_TABLE_05      IMPORT TABLE     NOT RUNNING   0
SCOTT      SYS_IMPORT_TABLE_01      IMPORT TABLE     NOT RUNNING   0 and I discovered that one of my import jobs that I did not realize that it was running, failed due to a fatal error, it is the one related to the import of one table.
My question:
Now the below query should return zero records no ?
How i can clear the result ? and does it affect any future import jobs for the same table?
SELECT owner_name, job_name, operation, job_mode,
state, attached_sessions
FROM dba_datapump_jobs
WHERE job_name NOT LIKE 'BIN$%'
ORDER BY 1,2;

hi just drop all tables that return be the query below i face some issue after 1 months
SQL> select owner, TABLE_NAME, DEFAULT_DIRECTORY_NAME, ACCESS_TYPE
from dba_external_tables
this error appear due to this table must be cleanup auto when the datadump complete the job ,but it's not dropped as well so when gather statistics this error appear,
so this drop table .

    ORA-20011: Approximate NDV failed:
    ORA-29913: error in executing ODCIEXTTABLEOPEN callout
    ORA-29400: data cartridge error
    Thanks in advance..

    Hi all,
    Finally we got the solution.
    we faced the issue only after DB migration from 10g to 11.2.
    after migration ..some oracle external files, ext tables and oracle directory entries belongs to old DB was also migrated to new DB.
    Whenever we are analyzing the schema it tried to access those false objects, which where not actually present in new DB..
    Due to this oracle written the error message to alert log file....
    Solution:
    Try to check all the db directories are valid, or any external table entries are there in db with out actual flat files. if yes remove the entries from db
    using
    drop directory dir_name
    drop table .. statements....
    or try to create the needed dir or files with the same name...
    Thanks

    Or you can raise an SR too.

  • Exception: ORA-29913: error in executing ODCIEXTTABLEFETCH callout ORA-3065

    Dear Experts,
    Need your help. We export data from oracle 11g database and import into oracle 10g database.
    We have created external tables with same DDL in both export and import schema.
    we are able generate datadump files at export side successfuly. However, when we try to query the datadump files at import side we are getting following error:
    Exception: ORA-29913: error in executing ODCIEXTTABLEFETCH callout ORA-30653: reject limit REACHED
    In the external table definition we have defined the reject limit as zero as we don't want any records to be rejected.
    This issue occurred after we deployed the fix for an issue, which is -> In one of the table we store the xml of the modified record of some core table. And if the records contains control characters [ chr(0) to chr(31), expect chr(9), chr(10) and chr(13) ] then xml fails to validate and our export failed.
    To fix it, we added the code to set the event at the start of the export rountine using command:
    /*Replace the erroneous character with corresponding character reference*/
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'ALTER SESSION SET events = ''19119 trace name context forever, level 0x200000''';
    After this, the export worked fine but import failed.
    I have no clue what this error message is suggesting, expect the reject limit thing which I can't set to unlimited.
    I would be grateful to have your comments on this. Please let me know if you need futher information.
    Many Thanks

    Hi,
    What happens if you set that event on the importing side too?
    Is there no other way to remove the speical characters - can you not use functions against the xml string directly in the routine that populates the external table - why are you using the event?
    Cheers,
    Harry

    Hi,
    Yes if I put it on the server it works.
    But if I put the file on the client in a shared folder and put the ip address as below:
    10.97.140.59\mydata
    it doesn't work.
    So it seems that this will work if the file is on the server and not on any client.
    If that be the case then it is a definite disadvantage.
    thanks for ur reply.

  • ORA-31011: XML parsing failed ORA-19202: Error occurred in XML processing

    Hi,
    I am trying to update an already existing Sales Order through PO Change Inbound 860. When i am performing changes in the line quantity and scheduled ship date with operation code as "Update" then it is successfully updating the Order and also we are able to generate the POAck for the updated sales order lines. But when i am rejecting one of the PO change lines by checking rejected flag, then order is getting imported successfully(I mean sales order is getting updated successfully) but during the POAck Generation i.e. 865 its raising "*ORA-31011: XML parsing failed ORA-19202: Error occurred in XML processing LPX-00103: Warning: document structure does not match DTD Error at line 1*" at XML Gateway. we are using XML Gateway to process the orders, can somebody help me to get rid of this issue. Thanks in advance.
    Thanks,
    Sunil Chauhan

    Hi Kishan
    Thanks for the reply.
    Because this is an outbound transaction so i can not provide you the XML file as we are facing issue to generate the same. Also we are using oracle seeded PO outbound Ack map.
    In addition i can provide you the DTD file.

    -Sudheer.

    Hi Sudheer,
    This is caused by the date format you are using. Probably it is not matching with your NLS settings. Check your NLS settings, what the date format is, and use that in the XML.
    Check it with this code:
    SELECT XMLELEMENT("date", sysdate) FROM dual;Make sure, you have your NLS_DATE settings in the same format.
    Check it with:
    SELECT * FROM v$nls_parameters WHERE parameter = 'NLS_DATE_FORMAT'And then make sure it is the same by setting for example:
      ALTER SESSION SET NLS_DATE_FORMAT = 'YYYY-MM-DD';Greetings,

    Hi,
    Welcome to the forums.
    First of all I must remind you this is not a free support forum. Also everyone here is volunteer.
    This means using words like 'urgent' and 'asap' is usually considered inappropriate as there is paid support.
    In your transcript I notice you have no
    grant read, write directory on XTERN_DATA_DIRTEST
    I also notice in your external table definition your location directive appears to be incomplete
    It should be
    location(XTERN_DATA_DIRTEST:'Country.txt')
    Hth
    Sybrand Bakker
    Senior Oracle DBASybrand
    He doesn't need to write "location(XTERN_DATA_DIRTEST:'Country.txt')" because he sets the default directory:
    ( default directory XTERN_DATA_DIRtest
    access parameters

    Hi,
    I get the following error when trying to make an HTTP request. Below is the snippet of code I run. I get the error after exactly 60 seconds(default timeout?). I searched through the forums and found many similar errors but nothing that helped me resolve this issue. The problem does not exist in the rest of our environments, only our test environment.
    Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Please note that all the tables and indexes are imported successfully even after the error started to show.
    Is it something serious, should I do the import again with statistics=none or I am just fine now and it something that is just related for the statistics.

    Is really "fragmentation" an issue to justify this table movement? Why do you want to "defragment" your schema? Is it because of performance issues? If this is the case you are wasting your time, if you tried to rebuild the indexes by this procedure, it is also a waste of time. If you are concerned about fragmentation because of "holes" and "islands" of unused space within segments and unused space below the HWM, that is something different, in my personal jargon, I'd rather use the term space reorganization.
    If the data import was successful, then take a look at the dba_objects and verify if the program unit is still there and check its status.
    You may also want to take a look at this note from AskTom that explains what this error means --> http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:571023051648

  • ORA-29913: error in executing  callout

    Hello, everybody
    I have some strange problem when I try to select data from an external table. The table has about 500'000 rows and select from it fetches about 200'000 rows normally and then throws the subj. message. ORA-299913 usually has name of the specific callout and is accompanied by the second message explaining the root cause, but in this case it does not have either - callout name is empty and there is no secondary error.
    It feels like it hits a bad record mid-file and crashes, but the table organization is datapump and it's exported by using identical table definition from another Oracle instance of the same version ( 10.2.0.2.0 ).
    I would really appreciate any ideas why it could happen. I tried to Google it but apparently no one encountered such situation yet.
    Thank you
    Rita
