    Hi
    I am not able to enter the data into the staging table .
    it is also not throwing any error ,only giving warnings.
    so as a next step i just took the intermediate result generation and try to run it
    but it is giving me an error in that
    ORA-12838: cannot read/modify an object after modifying it in parallel
    Can you please help me in tthis case.
    Thanks

    Hello,
    The error ORA-12838 occurs if you try to issue SELECT/DML immediately after completing parallel DML, within one transaction - it's not permitted.
    Start another transaction - issue Commit or Rollback first.

  • How to access sys owned objects for role based web user?

    Hi,
    we have tables and packages etc owned by test schema user, and we access the applications using mod pl/sql though DAD. we created a webuser role and granted the execute privillages to webuser role. we have some packages that we access sys owned such as dbms_random, which test user has execute privillage. how i can get these privillages to webuser? I dont like to give webuser execute privillages over web. any other thoughts and insights would appreciated.
    Thanks for the help!

    use invokers rights instead of definers rights and you won't need 'direct' grants anymore.
    create or replace procedure foo authid current_user is
    begin

  • Grant Access on .sys owned objects...?

    For example purposes, say I need to grant 'Select' to DBA_Users to a role, how is this possible? I'm looking to grant this explicitly and not thru select any dictionary.
    Do I need to run the grant statement from the SYS ID? As I have the grant any priv and any obj priv, it seems that will not suffice....
    Thanks!

    One way to do this is to create a stored procedure owned by a privileged user which has the right to grant the needed privilege. You only need to grant EXECUTE privilege on this procedure to the admin team.
    In this example, owner is OPS$ORACLE and admin. user is NEW.
    The procedure should make some additional checks according to your security rules.
    SQL> show user
    USER is "SYS"
    SQL> grant select on dba_users to ops$oracle with grant option;
    Grant succeeded.
    SQL> connect  /
    Connected.
    SQL> show user
    USER is "OPS$ORACLE"
    SQL> create or replace procedure gs (guser in varchar2)
      2  as
      3  begin
      4  execute immediate 'grant select on sys.dba_users to ' || guser;
      5  end;
      6  /
    Procedure created.
    SQL> show errors
    No errors.
    SQL>
    SQL> drop user new;
    User dropped.
    SQL> drop user old;
    User dropped.
    SQL> create user old identified by old;
    User created.
    SQL> grant connect to old;
    Grant succeeded.
    SQL> create user new identified by new;
    User created.
    SQL> grant connect to new;
    Grant succeeded.
    SQL> grant execute on gs to new;
    Grant succeeded.
    SQL>
    SQL> connect new/new
    Connected.
    SQL> exec ops$oracle.gs('OLD');
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL>
    SQL> connect old/old

  • Trigger on SYS owned tables/views

    Hello DBA's,
    I need to achive something.. for which I have to write a trigger on SYS owned tables/views.
    My question is, IS IT POSSIBLE TO WRITE A TRIGGER ON SYS OWNED OBJECTS?. If so please provide me simple example.
    Depending on the value which will be inserted or updated into to this sys.views/sys.tables, I have to submit "job" which will inturn does some operation depending on the "value" which was inserted or updated on this view/table.
    Thankz in advance..

    Justin,
    I will give some simple example...
    User-1 is created procedure... it will be in valid state.. after some time this procedure will be invalidated...(due to some other procedure creation, etc)..
    Stage1, during successful creation of procedure the status will be VALID (in DBA_OBJECTS)
    Stage2, the status will be INVALID..
    I need to write a trigger for this status change in dba_objects.. The status change will be caused due to some other operation..
    Is it possible to write a trigger at the point of status change? if so how?.
    This is the simple example I have remembered.
    Let me about this..

  • Remove privately owned object: SQLException: cannot update ... to NULL

    I have a toplink descriptor called ToplinkRelationshipInfo which has a one-to-many mapping to a descriptor called ToplinkRelationshipAttribute. The mapping is privately owned and uses a foreign key from ToplinkRelationshipAttribute.info_id -> ToplinkRelationshipInfo.id. The ToplinkRelationshipAttribute has a one-to-one mapping back to the ToplinkRelationshipInfo.
    The toplink generated Java source for ToplinkRelationshipInfo has a removeFromAttributes method:
    public void removeFromAttributes(ToplinkRelationshipAttribute aToplinkRelationshipAttribute) {
         this.attributes.remove(aToplinkRelationshipAttribute);
         aToplinkRelationshipAttribute.setRelationshipInfo(null);
    }When deleting/removing one of these attributes, if I simply call the above method and then call commit on the unit of work I get a SQLException:
    Internal Exception: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01407: cannot update ("WC"."WP_RELATIONSHIP_INFO_ATT"."RELATIONSHIP_INFO_ID") to NULL
    I understand that the reason for this is because the removeFromAttributes method is setting the attribute relationshipInfo member to null, which is causing an UPDATE on the attribute record with null on the required relationshipInfoId.
    As suggested in another thread I removed the line that sets the relationshipInfo member to null and I no longer get the exception.
    For maintenance reasons I'd prefer to modify as little generated toplink code as necessary, so I'd rather not have to modify the remove method; otherwise I'll have to go through and modify all these types of methods anytime I generate new Java source.
    So, how come toplink is generating the code that nulls these member variables if they have to be taken out later?
    Is there a way to configure the workbench project so that it does not generate this code, or is it necessary to modify these methods each time I generate the Java source?
    Thanks.

    In a 1-m mapping the relationship is stored in the database by the foreign key of the 1-1 (m-1) back reference. In a typical 1-m relationship if you just remove the object from the collection it will not update the database unless you also set the 1-1 back to null, (as it will still be referencing the old source and the relationship will be out of synch).
    In your case because the 1-m is privately owned and the target will be deleted, it does not need to have the 1-1 updated, so you are correct in removing the code.
    In have logged an enhancement request internally with the MW to have this code improved for private-owned 1-m relationships.
    In general the source code generation of the TopLink Mapping Workbench (or JDeveloper) is meant as a one-time generation for rapid prototyping, it is not required, and not two-way. Typically the object model will be used to provide application specific behavior, so will be maintained by hand after the initial prototype.

  • ODI-1228: ORA-22950: cannot ORDER objects without MAP or ORDER method

    Simple interface between two schemas in the same oracle database (10g)
    I am trying to copy one table and do one simple lookup (in a table located in 3rd schema on the same database)
    Integration task fails on
    ODI-1228: Task messagexml_document (Integration) fails on the target ORACLE connection S2_P1.
    Caused By: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-22950: cannot ORDER objects without MAP or ORDER method
    Can anybody tell me, what I am doing wrong? Code that generate this error is just a simple INSERT with SELECT and sub SELECT with JOIN?
    I just can't find anything about this error.
    I'm stuck :-(

    I discovered that one of my fields is an XMLType field and is a part of comparison ODI do when it tries to do incremental update. The error message here is just a message from db that it can't compare XMLType fields to each other.
    Is there any way to learn ODI to not to compare by XMLType field?

  • ORA-22905: cannot access rows from a non-nested table item in Table func

    I am using a table function in Oracle 8.1.7.4.0. I did declare an object type and a collection type like this:
    CREATE TYPE t_obj AS OBJECT ...
    CREATE TYPE t_tab AS TABLE OF t_obj;
    My table function returns t_tab and is called like this:
    SELECT ... FROM TABLE (CAST (my_pkg.table_fnc AS t_tab)) ...
    This works pretty well as long as I run it in the same schema that owns the function and the 2 types. As soon as I run this query from another schema, I get an ORA-22905: cannot access rows from a non-nested table item error, even though I granted execute on both the types and the function to the other user and I created public synonyms for all 3 objects.
    As soon as I specify the schema name of t_tab in the cast, the query runs fine:
    SELECT ... FROM TABLE (CAST (my_pkg.table_fnc AS owner.t_tab)) ...
    I don't like to have a schema hard coded in a query, therefore I'd like to do this without the schema. Any ideas of how to get around this error?

    Richard,
    your 3 statements are correct. I'll go ahead and log a TAR.
    Both DESCs return the same output when run as the other user. And, running the table function directly in SQL*Plus (SELECT my_pkg.table_fnc FROM dual;) also returns a result and no errors. The problem has to be in the CAST function.
    Thanks for your help.

    Well you could move to 11g but I'd suggest a less drastic measure for now. Save the data, drop the table, reload the table.
    But give serious consideration to Tom Kyte's advice about object tables: Don't use them. Instead use relational tables and object views.

  • Impdp errors with ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into

    Hi Experts,
    I have very intresting situation when I use impdp to import table back to DB.
    Environment:
    Database Server: 10.2.0.4 Enterprise
    OS: RHEL 5.5 64-bit
    We have a table and it's size is 350+ GB and so to reclaim space I want to perform expdp/impdp operation. When I following below steps:
    1) expdp table
    2) drop table
    3) impdp full table
    It works like a charm and I am able to reclaim 83% space and table size shows about 20GB.
    But when I follow below method:
    1) expdp table
    2) truncate table (To save some time not to import indexes, stats, constraints , etc)
    3) impdp table
    I get following error:

    expdp and impdp operations should not be executed as SYS - try SYSTEM account instead. See first Note section here - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14215/dp_import.htm#sthref243
    Pl post the complete expdp and impdp commands used, along with a description of the table for which you encounter this error.

    google found some questions, but not fittung answers.
    So far:
    - I checked the folder & users rights.
    - I found some /tmp/ files - yes I "backup" the backuped archivelogs to-delete files in /tmp - I only active archivelogmode so I can onlinebackup
    - I managed to login via rman and execute DELETE OBSOLETE manual - result above.
    - Actual I delete the set one by one to find the problem set. (delete backupset 12345 ) from the list manually.
    Some a good idea what went wrong?
    additional: Is there a way to let oracle delete the empy archvielog-directories after deleting the logs within?
    18:00- the command "RMAN> BACKUP CURRENT CONTROLFILE" also fails.

    Meanwhile I managed to delete all backupsets one by one.
    The problem with $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/snapcf_<SID>.f persists.
    cd $ORACLE_HOME/dbs
    mv snapcf_<SID>.f snapcf_<SID>.f.bak
    # replaced actual dbsidname with <SID>

    ORA-19606: Cannot copy or restore to snapshot control file
    No different effect, if I changed the filename via 2nd terminal to .bak or not.
    RMAN> delete controlfilecopy 3831;
    will fail, if the file exists or not.
    Any chance to reset/kill that file?
    Is there a need to restart the dbms after rename the file?
