Oracle 11g is not connecting from network client machine.

Oracle 11g was installed on windows server 2003.
ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor ._
we are getting the above oracle exception when we give the following command:
LSNRCTL> services oracle11g_listener
Connecting to (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=CBR-SRV-HPORA.CIBER-INDIA.IN)(PORT=1522)))
The listener supports no services_
The command completed successfully.
C:\Documents and Settings\oracle>sqlplus scott/tiger@oracle11g_netservice

Your Lstener doesn't know anything about services. You must configure the dynamic registration of the service in your database, e.g.
alter system set local_listener="(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=CBR-SRV-HPORA.CIBER-INDIA.IN)(PORT=1522)))";
(for permanent setting don't forget pfile or spfile)
After that the database will register the services at thie address und you will see the service when asking 'srvctl services oracle11g_listener'

you are not using DI server to connect, your using DI API. Check if your client machine has the DI API installed. If not you can get from the installation cd or the lastest patch installed under packages/DI API folder.

Oracle command line to connect to a database directly from a client machine

Hi,
I need to connect from a Client machine to a database present on the Database server.
Client: Windows 7 32 bit/ 64 bit
Server where DB is installed: Windows 2008, Oracle 11.xg
I need a command line option that will connect to a database say 'Test' from the command line. I want to put that command in a batch file / exe and call it from there.
I have tools like SQL Developer and dbForge but was unable to do it. Could I have some help on this.
I am a fresher with Oracle and I would appreciate detailed steps. Thanks very much in advance.

Oracle 8 not connecting from client machines

i am using oracle 8 on windows environment. the problem is that oracle is connecting on the server machine but not on client machine for some days. sometimes i do connects but sometimes the application helds for long time and no response is obtained. Application is residing on the server and drive has been mapped on the client machines. What can be the possible cause. ping on the network is ok.

do you really have to stay at that version first of all, 11gR1 is out and 9iR2 is de-supported recently and I couldnt find this release's documentation also.
What about tnsping and sqlplus connection from your clients and listener status on your server - lsnrctl status

After i migrate my SMP3.0 from SP02 To SP03, it is not connection from Any Device,(it is not showing any Error in Log file, Means App deployed successfully.) whenever we try to connect from Any device it is showing following Error Message.

ORA-03113 while connect from 8i client to 7 Server

Hi,
I have a Oracle 7.3.3 Server running on a SCO OpenSever 5.0.5 and a Oracle 8i Client 8.1.6.0.0 on a RedHat Linux 6.2.
When I try to connect from the client to the server by issue command "sqlplus user@test", it responses me "Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-03113". But when I run "netasst" to test the connection, it says the connection was sucessful.
Can anyone help? Here are my configuration files:

Hi,
I don't have a 64 bit instance, but maybe another test will be usefull, try to get a connection with sqlplus on the server but via sqlnet like "user/passwd@tnsentry" I think if that also is not possible it is not the 64 bit issue but more that the listener itself coundn't etsablish a db connection, be aware tnsping is only testing if the listener is running and do not check if the listener is able to connect to the db.

If we use Oracle10g client jars then they are working with the 11g database.

Jobserver not available from specific client installation (from Designer)

Hi,
I have installed Designer on a PC and everything seems to work fine, except I can not run jobs using the associated jobserver.
When I open up designer, I get a message that the jobserver is not available. When I go to the admin console (on the same PC) I can run jobs.
Also, when I use another computer and log on to the same repository, I can use the jobserver from the designer.
What can possibly be wrong at PC level which prevents me from using the jobserver from Designer?
I have re-installed designer but it did not have any effect.
Any help greatly appreciated - I have no idea how to troubleshoot this is also welcome.

1. Make sure that you can ping the Job Server from the client machine - Use the fully qulaified domain name (not ip address)
2. make sure that you can ing the client machine from the Job server - Use the fully qualified domain name (not ip address)
if steps 1 or 2 fail then you need to contact you network admin to resolve the connectivity issues. If you are able to connect using the ip address and not the fully qualified name, you can add an entry to you local host file.
3. make sure that you do not have a firewall blocking the Job Server port preventing inbound connections to the job server
4. make sure that you do not have a firewall blocking ports from the job server to the client machine.
The default port for the job server is 3500 make sure that this port is open for connections from the client
you must also make sure that there is no firewall blocking any ports for connectivity FROM the Job Server TO the client.
if so ask the network admin to unblock these or provide a port range for you to use.
if they provide a port range for connectivity from the job server to the client you must go to Tools --> options --> Designer -->Environment and set the port range in the Designer communication ports section

HP Color LaserJet CP1520nw will not connect to network (time out repeatedly)

My HP LaserJet CP1520nw won't connet to my wireless router upon installation, no many how many times I've been asked to connect it to the computer via a USB printer cable. I uninstalled and reinstalled all software, and each time I try to set it up for wireless connectivity by connecting my computer and the printer via a USB printer cable, it gets to 99% installed on the progress bar and sits there until it times out. I suspect one of the follow but am open to other ideas from those more knowledgeable:
1. Is the printer locked onto some old, initial configuration from a previous wireless network that needs to be purged of addresses, etc. before it can accept the new ones?
2. Could my WPA WPA2 PSK AES encrytion be messing it up? Are the modern firmware and updates designed to accept these ? I never have gotten to a screen where it asks for my encyption key or even a WPS pass phrase. What to do if so?
3. Could Church Lady be correct and that it is Satan preventing the installation? If so, what icons does he use to watch out for and will my Norton anti-virus and malware quarantine him to Hell automatically or does it require manual enforcement?

I noticed that your HP Color LaserJet CP1520nw will not connect to network with Windows 7. I am sorry to hear this, but happy to help!
First to answer your questions:
It is possible the printer could be locked to an old configuration and needs to be reset.
I don't think your WPA WPA2 PSK AES encrytion could be messing it up, unless you got some really strange characters in your password.
Your Norton antivirus, could possible be causing the installation to fail.
Please take a look through the following guides:
'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the HP Printer Will Not Print.
Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.
If the guides do not resolve the issue, please try the following:
Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Disable any antivirus programs. Disable antivirus software.
Disable any firewall programs. Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
Re-install the software. HP LaserJet Full Feature Software and Driver.

Not connected to network although it is connected wirelessly

I have a HP Photosmart 7510 All in one printer. I can print from computers wirelessly but it says not connected to network when i try to use web services, facebook, or efax. I cant even run an update because if no internet connection. i have tried rebooting routers and printer. Nothing else has issues with internet with router. I have also tried typing in the Ip address in the web address bar but when i go to networking it is asking for admin user name and password that i do not know. How can i fix this issue? I have downloaded drivers and software from HP site also.

You may also want to reset your network settings:
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

Galaxy Nexus Not connecting to network

Good Evening,
I just received a replacement phone for Galaxy Nexus. The phone is not connecting to network. I am able to connect to wifi but unable to make calls or send texts since having the phone activated last night. When I was in the store last night I was able to receive and send a few text messages but since then haven't been able to communicate using my phone. I don't know if this an issue with the service in the area North Attleboro, MA or with my phone. Been on hold for 20 minutes with customer service.

No issues noted for North Attleboro. Please reprogram and test. To reprogram please pull the SIM card for one minute, then reinsert and power off/on. I see that you are using the same SIM from previous phone and this should not be a problem; however, if you accidentally touched the golden portion of the SIM card that could cause some issues. Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Error: EPrint not Enabled, Also: Printer not connected to Network

I have been using this printer and EFax until recently when EFax wont work. I am connected to Network, I can use printer for printing from laptop, IPAD and Iphone. Have good connection. When I attempt to send EFAX, I get "Your printer is not connected to Network" Then I am told to enable EPrint, IT IS enabled. Printer is great, EFax wont work.

This reply may be late for this user, but it might be helpful for any current users.
I managed to change the modem's IP address to match that of the printer. In my case the printer worked fine wirelessly until I moved to a new place and installed a new modem. Here is what I did to solve the problem:
1. At the printer, click on the wireless button, wireless settings, print network configuration page. This will print a page with the printer's IP address (in my case: 192.168.0.13)
2. I accessed my modem via the internet browser, typing 192.168.1.1 (this is one of the default addresses (192.168.0.1 is also common). Default user and password is admin (usually). There I changed the modem's IP address to 192.168.0.1 and the range to start at 192.168.0.13 (my printer's IP address).
3. I saved the settings (the modem will reboot and you will be offline, it may take some 20 seconds before the modem is visible again).
4. Reconnect to the modem and check if internet is still working. Then try to install the printer again.
This worked for me after I read several other postings.

Macbook not connecting to network

My Macbook's internet won't work all of a sudden. I was home for the weekend and it was working fine on my home network. This morning, I woke it from sleep and although airport says it's connected to my dorm's network, the net won't connect (no Safari, Firefox, no Mail, etc). I've tried everything I know; restart, delete the network and re-add it, try another account... Still nothing.
The network is working fine, I can access it on my iPad and iPod.
Any thoughts?

This is if you are troubleshooting a network issue. If your computer simply would not connect to networks, it may not be a setting that is screwed up, it may just need a reset to cause it to start using the wireless again, it doesn't hurt to try and at least some information was given to you to help. Nobody said it would fix anything, they simply stated TRY...
