Oracle 11g R1 ADF faces app on Websphere 8

So I installed websphere 8 on a linux machine. It worked fine.
I am now trying to install the ADF Libraries 11.1.1.2 onto websphere. I downloaded just the framework from the oracle website. There is no Jdeveloper on the server.
Anyways Websphere 8 is installed as root
where as the libraries were downloaded and unziped as Oracle.
So before signing in as oracle I do
xhost +
su oracle
now I have ran the installer from the Disk1 location and Disk1/linux64 location as well---but I get an error
[ERROR]: Installer has encountered an interenal Error. Contact Oracle support with details.

I will look into that.
One more question that I wanted to ask was: When I am instaling the IBM Websphere should I be installing that under the Oracle user or Root. Since the Oracle Universal Installer will only work under Oracle.
I was thinking Oracle?

  • HTTP status 404 when accessing ADF Faces app deployed in Tomcat

    I have ADF faces app deployed to tomcat. The first time the application is accessed, the URL gets screwed up and I get HTTP 404. If I access the app again in the same browser, the page loads fine. If I clear the cookies and access it again, I get HTTP 404 again.
    The problem can be seen live here:
    1. Go to http://subash.redirectme.net:8080/stock/faces/welcome.jspx
    The url in the browser gets messed up:
    http://subash.redirectme.net:8080/stock/faces/welcome.jspxhttp://subash.redirectme.net:8080/stock/faces/;jsessionid=1A48DEA6CF208BAADCB3BE50084B1AD1?_afrLoop=1455371821548250&_afrWindowMode=0&_afrWindowId=null
    2. Go to http://subash.redirectme.net:8080/stock/faces/welcome.jspx in the same browser. The page loads up fine.
    3. Delete cookies and access the same page, the problem appears again.
    Upon digging around, I found when the browser makes first request, the servers reponds with 200 OK with jsessionID cookie header. Then the client sends requests for "http://subash.redirectme.net:8080/stock/faces/welcome.jspxhttp://subash.redirectme.net:8080/stock/faces/;jsessionid=8E31D5895621B17B712186AA8AF6BF4A?_afrLoop=1455891492432424&_afrWindowMode=0&_afrWindowId=null" and the server correctly responds with HTTP 404. Looks like some ADF issue.
    This problem was not seen in Weblogic server, but started appearing when I tested in Tomcat.
    Here is HTTP Trace:

  • Did JHeadstart capable to convert 10g forms to both 11g & 10g  ADF Faces?

    We would like to purchase JHeadstart for JDeveloper 10.1.3.3 to Generator 10g Forms to ADF Faces. this version of JHeadstart capable to convert 10g forms to 10g ADF Faces. But I want a universal JHeadstart ADF Faces Generator that will capable to convert 10g forms to both 11g & 10g ADF Faces. Please help me by your valuable suggestion/consultancy.

    Try asking on the JHeadstart forum:
    JHeadstart
    AFAIK, JHeadstart 11g is still not out.

  • Problems while deploying a JSF/ ADF Faces App to Apps Server 10.1.3.0.1

    Dear All,
    I built a JSF based application (Using ADF Faces Components) developed in JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0 (Application Configuration: [JSF, ADF BC]. The application is running fine with the embedded OC4J intance (automatically aunch by JDeveloper).
    I am now trying to deploy it on the installed Oracle Application Server (running on the same local machine). The details of the versioning for different components in this App server are as follows:
    1. OracleAS J2EE 10.1.3.0.0
    2. Oracle ADF 10.1.3.1.0
    The deployment steps I followed (as given in Chapter 34 of 'Oracle ADF - Developer's Guide for Forms/4GL Developers') seems to be running smoothly. This is because the deploy process ends up showing no erros in the message window.
    However when I tried to test the application with a browser using the Apps Server URL (HTTP://localhost:8888/<my-app>/<firstfile.jspx>), I am finding 'Page not found error'.
    I also tried a manual deployment (using deploy to a WAR file then copy the resulting war & ear files and the xml descriptor file to the Apps server's http root) and gives the war file URL in the browser.
    In this case now I am getting the following error page:
    =====================================================
    The XML page cannot be displayed
    Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
    An invalid character was found in text content. Error processing resource
    'http://localhost:8888/HousingWithADF.war'.
    =====================================================
    Any idea?
    Regards,
    Irfan Ilyas
    PS: I am doubtful about creation of Deployment Descriptors step as the documentation is not very clear about exactly which descriptors we need to create. Using my own idea, I tried to create J2EE descriptor, and one tld (taglibrary) file. However, the manual war deployment generates only the tld file in the deploy folder.

    Thanks for the hint.
    OBSERVATION #1:
    After looking through the administration console for OC4J instance, I found my application name with UP status. When drill-down further, the console gives me the URL which can be used to test the application.
    While using the URL, a different error message was found:
    URL: http://localhost:8888/KFUPMHousing/
    Error:
    ====================
    HTTP 403:(Forbidden)
    ================
    You are not authorized to view this page
    You might not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials you supplied.
    From my experience of Microsoft IIS, I know here I may need to configure the folder permissions for a web-user. But exactly which user and where it is defined (at OS Level or in AS), I am not much sure.
    Can you elaborate?
    OBSERVATION #2:
    The log text for my application shows the following error (for the attempt I did with the URL shown above)
    Log Text
    07/01/05 22:43:38.62 HousingWithADF: JspServlet: unable to dispatch to requested page: Exception:java.io.FileNotFoundException: C
    :\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1\j2ee\home\applications\HousingWithADF\HousingWithADF\HosReqInfo.jspx (The system cannot find the file specified)
    However, I can browse the file on my local disk in the path specified with a little change in the path. The file is found in 'pages' folder within the last folder,named HousingWIthADF. I tried to move the file in the exact path specified in the log and now finding the 'Page not found' error.
    Any idea?

  • Oracle Maps and ADF Faces integration

    Hello,
    Developing ADF Faces application with integrated JavaScript Oracle Maps I came across a problem.
    I have Search Form on my JSF page that searches for some object. I want to pass the object's ID to a backing bean that connects to database, uses Oracle Spatial function to locate object via ID and calculate X,Y position for Oracle Maps.
    On the page I want to use setCenter(X,Y,srid) but I don't know how to get those parameters from backing bean or how to access JavaScript object on the page from backing bean.
    Any help?
    Branislav

    You can probablly write a reusable javaScript setCenter() function that takes the x,y as parameters. Note your setCenter() function will need to set the center and also call mapview.display() so that the map will be actually refreshed in the current preview release (this will be made easier in the next preview release of MapViewer).
    Then, during the render-response stage of your search form, where you are creating the result table to be displayed to the user, you can add a click button to each row that says 'center the map on this feature'. Then prewire the 'onClick' function of each button to invoke the setCenter() function above, using the corresponding (x,y) that is in the backing bean of your search results.
    thanks

  • Install Oracle 11G, RAC with VMWare, APPS R12, and OBIEE on one server?

    Dear Experts,
    I'm looking to upgrade my skills, and want to learn more of:
    Oracle 11G, RAC, VMWare, APPS R12, and OBIEE
    My server has two quad cores (8 CPU altogether) and 16 gigs of RAM.
    Years ago, I took a shots at installing RAC on multiple servers and firewire.
    One thing I remember was that after I installed RAC, I was not able to use the database unless I enabled all the RAC processes on the server. So, I was not able to just boot the database and use it in the traditional single server manner.
    Which I will also want to do.
    1) Does this symptom/aspect/characteristic of RAC install still exist?
    2) Is it realistic to install all this software on one server?
    If so, what is the order of operations for the install?
    3) If I have to prioritize, I'd like to install
    Oracle 11G, OBIEE, and APPS R12,
    Would installing R12 and OBIEE on the same server present any conflicts or issues?
    If not, what is the order of operations for the install?
    11G, R12, then OBIEE?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi,
    1) Does this symptom/aspect/characteristic of RAC install still exist?No.
    2) Is it realistic to install all this software on one server?
    If so, what is the order of operations for the install?For learning/traning/demonstration purpose you can Install all these software on same machine.

    Would installing R12 and OBIEE on the same server present any conflicts or issues?
    If not, what is the order of operations for the install?
    11G, R12, then OBIEE?There will not be any conflicts. I would suggest you to select vmware or virtual box in order to configure all these sw's.
    I have done such a configuration on my laptop with i7 Quad processor, 16GB RAM and 640 GB HDD.
    I have Installed 2 node RAC, 2 Node ERP and all are running smoothly without any issues.

  • ADF Faces - issue with Portal and af table

    I wonder if anybody could help me with a problem we are experiencing with running our ADF Faces app inside a portal (NOT Oracle Portal). We are using the af table tag with the rows attribute set as follows:
    <af:table emptyText="No items found"
    rows="10" banding="row"
    bandingInterval="1"
    binding="#{backing_ModuleSearchReg.table1}"
    id="table1"
    var="row">
    What this does is if we have more than 10 rows to display it will display
    a table header that has a label 'Previous 1-10 of nnn' Next 10. However, when you click on 'Next 10' it produces a Javascript error.
    When we run the app outside of the portal we do not get this problem.
    I believe this is related to known issues with JSF and Javascript inside a 'framed' web page. But if anybody help me with this or point me to a resource that can help it would be very much appreciated.
    Many Thanks in advance.
    Chris

    Hi,
    I remember a similar issue with inner frames that should be fixed in JDeveloper 10.1.3.3. The problem was that the ADF Faces JavaScript did not get the correct document root.

  • Deploying ADF Faces (JDev 10.1.3) to Application server 10gR2 (10.1.2)

    Is it possible to deploy a Toplink/sessionEJBs/Data controls/ADF Faces app (written in jDev10.1.3) to Oracle Application Server (10.1.2)?
    I'm using Application Developers Framework Developer's guide adfdevguide.pdf, which says that you can. However it requires swicthing the JDK to 1.4, which generates compiler errors - 'errorIllegalCharacter' in the sessionEJB, on lines with annotations.
    Is it possible to auto-generate session EJBs for JDK 1.4?
    Thanks
    Robin

    Thanks for the reply Prasanth.
    I can now see why I'm getting the error - because the session bean seems to use EJB3.0 by default. This puts annotations in the session bean code, which fails because I'm using JDK1.4
    If I force the project to use EJB2.0, then when creating the session bean, it ignores of the toplink classes, and when I create a data control, the table related services aren't included.
    Do I need to create either the sessionEJB or datacontrols in a different way??
    Thanks,
    Robin

  • ADF Faces (JDev 10.1.3): How to support the Back Button

    Hi,
    when I scroll through a result set, rendered as a input form with navigation buttons, then use the browsers back button and then try to go to the next row using the 'next' navigation button, I always get an exception: JBO-29000, JBO-35007, JBO-25013
    The sample application was build using JDev 10.1.3, ADF Faces and Business Components.
    I have read through the new Oracle Dev Guide and found some parameters concerning state management and tested different settings. The most promising setting:
    <context-param>
    <param-name>javax.faces.STATE_SAVING_METHOD</param-name>
    <param-value>client</param-value>
    </context-param>
    <context-param>
    <param-name>oracle.adf.view.faces.CLIENT_STATE_METHOD</param-name>
    <param-value>all</param-value>
    </context-param>
    Regardless of which setting I used, an exception was prompted.
    My questions:
    Are there addtional settings to configure to make an ADF Faces app 'back button' agnostic?
    Is it an ADF Faces or a JSF problem?
    What are your experience and how do you solve the problem?
    I have no idea how to solve the problem.
    Any hints are welcome!
    Thanks,
    Markus

    Hi Marcus,
    we had the same problem in UIX (JDeveloper version 10.1.2) and the official stance of Oracle (we had created a TAR on metalink) was that it was a general webapplication problem and not 'supported' by ADF.
    We created a solution by creating a filter that checks a sequence number in the pages. Each page request was checked and the sequence was increased. The <form> on the pages needed to send the sequence with each request.
    If the user used the backbutton then the sequence would be out of order. We would redirect the user to an error page and rollback the complete model.
    This was our base solution. What we also tried was to use the passivation mechanism of the application module (of Business Components) we would save a snapshot after the rendering of each page and if the user used the back button and the sequence was out of order we would rollback the application module to that snapshot. However after a COMMIT you cannot rollback ofcourse and it gave us some troubles.
    We finally sticked with the base solution and gave the user buttons in the application to go 'back'.

    Robert

  • Non-compliant HTML from ADF Faces 10.1.3.2

    We have had a query about the HTML rendered from ADF components from a potential client. When a page generated from an ADF Faces app. is run through the W3C HTML validator, it returns a number of errors, suggesting that the HTML does not conform to the current HTML 4.01 standard, although this is the standard specified in the doctype for the page.
    For example a test jspx page built with a simple ADF Faces PanelPage component only, generates numerous errors when run through the validator at http://validator.w3.org.
    Does Oracle have an official position on this? Is this something we will have to live with unless we write our own renderer? Do Oracle propose to change the components to conform with the standard in the future?
    Matthew

    Matthew,
    can you explain what your concrete concern is? I handled a similar question in the past where the claim was that non-standard HTML would make web pages look insecure. However, there was no proof for this statement, so I am wondering if it is the same argument.
    So please let me know what exactly it is that makes your client worry? If you use the same validator and try www.yahoo.com or www.google.com, it will show errors as well. I am not sure there are many web page on this planet that pass the validation test wth no errors.
    Back to your question though; There is no official statement Oracle has on HTML compliance in writing that you can pass on to your client.
    We do look at the validness of the generated HTML for the components we write on a regular basis. We don't see or have reports of limitation of our generated HTML and perform regular browser certifiation tests to ensure that applications built with ADF Faces don't fail browser support.
    If there is a serious issue with the genrated HTML code that prevents you or your client to run web applications built with ADF Faces, please let us know by filing a Service Request with customer support so we have a bug to trace and fix.

  • Warning msgs from ADF Faces project

    Hi
    When I start some ADF Faces app. I got lots of warning msgs like:
    WARNING: [ComponentRule]{faces-config/component} Merge(oracle.adf.CorePanelBox)
    Mar 1, 2005 4:31:30 PM com.sun.faces.config.rules.ComponentRule end
    WARNING: [ComponentRule]{faces-config/component} Merge(oracle.adf.CorePanelSideBar)
    Mar 1, 2005 4:31:30 PM com.sun.faces.config.rules.ComponentRule end
    Does anyone know how to solve them?
    Thanks

    I have the same problem. I just ignore them, but it is an annoyance since there are a lot of them, and they fill my OC4J server log. Seems it happens every time the server reinitializes.

  • ADF Faces - Which type of barcode scanner is recommended for ADF JSP?

    Hello everybody:
    1.- I'm trying to implement and adf faces app, with the functionality to get some
    data from a barcode reader.
    2.- I was reading about the different types of reader's interfaces: keyboard wedge,
    RS232, USB, bluetooth, etc.
    --- QUESTION' SECTION ---
    3.- First, the best thing is that my app could be compatible with all interfaces, I
    don't know if this is possible without any changes to the code.
    4.- If the previous point is not possible, I know that at least my app has to be
    compatible with the KB wedge and RS232, because I have read that the USB
    just emulate these two interfaces, but in an USB port.
    5.- I haven't read to much about this, but I need that my app do a post imediately
    after read the barcode, so the best thing my mind could imagine is add an
    <enter> char from the reader, I read too that this is only possible with the
    RS232, is the only way to modify the output of the scanner before send it to
    the app, and with the KB wedge is not possible.
    6.- But, the KB wedge is easier to use because my app does not require any extra-
    code to handle it, the only thing is: the cursor must be in the correct place in
    the correct time.
    I have read in this forum that some people has already implement this, if some of
    you guys have any suggestion, please let me know.
    Thnks in advance.
    Alex.

    Hi,
    thre is no specific certification between barcode readers and ADF Faces. So if you need a barcode reader, it s up to you testing which one can interact with the browser to fill in the form fields (and this basically is all it does)

  • What about security in adf faces application ?

    It seem that the documentation has a little bit changed about security for adf faces application.
    SRDemo J2EE sample application only implemented the security at the web container and may be for the session beans (don't remember) by using security-role and security-constraint in web.xml configuration file.
    It seem that the documentation recommand now to implement adf security and didn't find anymore the reference to the standard j2ee security implementation.
    We found also that the security constraints checked by the web container was sometimes ignored and the container didn't ask us to login before displaying a page.
    Is ADF security a clear Oracle recommandation for ADF Faces application ?
    What about j2ee security for this type of application (why it is not recommended to use it) ?

    Hi,
    there is no single recommedation about security because security ideally is applied on several levels to implement security in depth. Container managed security with J2EE is a good option to secure page access and - if using EJB - to propagate the user identity for method level access control.
    Using ADF Security, which is security added to the binding layer based on JAAS, a second layer of the security onion becomes available that allows you to define which user is allowed to perform which operation on an iterator or attribute binding. This goes beyond of what container managed security can do for you.
    The thrid layer is business layer security and eventually database security.
    For Oracle Open World we will have a developmengt track and one of the presentation I am giving with Ric Smith from our team is about end-to-end application security for ADF Faces, ADF, ADF BCor TopLink/EJB and the Oracle database.
    The plan is to also write this up in a paper, but this would come late because of other priorities I have on my plate. So attending OOW probably is the best option for you to get the big picture
