Thanks in Advance.Hi,
You need to download Oracle Database 11g Release 2 Grid Infrastructure (11.2.0.1.0) for your platform
and then use Oracle Database 11g Release 2 Grid Infrastructure option to upgrade from RDBMS to RAC Database
see this link and expand SEE ALL to find the Oracle Database 11g Release 2 Grid Infrastructure for RAC

  • MYSQL 55 to Oracle 11gr1 replication(oneway) - can not replicate

I have setup golden gate replication between mysql 55 and oracle 11gr1. While trying to setup the initial load, I do'nt see any data push to oracle from mysql.
What could be wrong in my setup.? has anyone tried this kind of setup? i see the the report for replicat and it says data is not replicated. while extract shows that 4 rows from table are taken for insert.

    Hi Stev
I am trying to do the initial load process
    On source (MYSQL 55)
    database (ggtest and table test)
    table test has
    TEST(COL1 INT)
manager is running on default port 7809
manager parameter file is defined with (PORT 7809)
There is initial load extract (EINI01) -->
    ADD EXTRACT EINI01
    param file
    EXTRACT EINI01
SOURCEDB [email protected], USERID ggsdev, PASSWORD ggsdev
    RMTHOST 192.168.75.116, MGRPORT 7809
    RMPTTASK REPLICAT, GROUP RINI01
    TABLE ggtest.TEST
    On target oracle 11gr1 (11.1.0.6)
Database in archive log mode, with minimum supplemental logging.
    replicat process
    ADD REPLICAT RINI01
    Parameter file for replicat
    REPLICAT RINI01
USERID ggs_owner, PASSWORD ggs_owner ( added in target database)
    ASSUMTARGETDEFS
    SETENV (NLS_LANG="AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252")
    MAP ggtest.TEST , TARGET GGTEST.TEST;
-- to start the initial load ( mysql side has 4 rows, oracle has no row )
on source, i ran the command
    ggsci> start extract eini01
I can see on report, extract has picked 4 rows for insert, but on replicat side no replication done. No error reported in gserr.log and there was a communication between source side of extract with traget side manager and sunsequently repliacat on target was started by manager and stopped normally. but no rows replicated.
Between oracle-to-oracle there is no problem. But my actual project is to setup from mysql to oracle (one way replication).
let me know if you need any other info.
    Thanks

  • Oracle 11GR1, Backup / Restore etc.

    Hi together
I'm looking for a DotNet API to control status messages, exception handling and so on in Oracle 11GR1.
    Thanks for your Help

Rman is part of the database, and is the backup/restore tool. There is no other way then to use rman (in a normal deployment), except a cold backup (file copy).

  • Oracle RAC + Clusterware and another Cluster with Clusterware for SAP

    Hi,
I have some questions about implementation of Oracle RAC and Clusterware with SAP
For exemple, an architecture with 4 servers ( 2 real and 2 vritual ).
I would like to know if i can do this
2 servers for the first cluster.
First cluster is with Clusterware and Oracle RAC
This is for all the SAP Oracle databases environment
I think there is no problem here.
Now, with 2 others servers il would like to make another cluster (with also clusterware ) for SAP Central services (SCS) and enque replication server (ERS)
Because all architecture is for only one SAP environment with separate services.
    1 for Database (cluster 1)
1 for Central services ( cluster 2, virtual machine )
1 for Dialogue Instance (no cluster)
To be clear, the second cluster is to make HA of central services SAP (SCS and ERS )
    My question 2 are :
Is it a good job to do this ? or there is anything wrong ?
Do i have to install antoher clusterware for this 2 servers or i have to make anything with the existing clusterware + oracle RAC ??
Thank you very much for you help

    Hi Givre,
have you checked: Providing High Availability for SAP Resources (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/clusterware/pdf/sap-availability-on-rac-twp.pdf) available on otn.oracle.com/clusterware? Not being an SAP expert myself, I still think, this paper describes the configuration - at least partially - that you are trying to set up.
    Just an idea. Thanks,

  • Set  database  charcter set as us7ascii in oracle 11gr1

    Dear Friends,
I want to set my character set as us7ascii in oracle 11gr1. But i heared that this charcterset is old charcter set and it is not used in oracle 11gr1.
But client need this charcter set alone. They dont need any other equalent charcter set.
    What can i do?
    Please help me..

    user8665771 wrote:
Then how can i change the charcter set(NLS_CHARACTERSET) from AL32UTF8 to US7ASCII .What is the reason behind this proposed change?
Why do you think it is not possible to store ascii only characters with AL32UTF8?
I think for this type of change, recommended procedure means creating a new db with the required charset.

  • Cannot create ASM disk groups in DBCA - Oracle 11gR1, Windows 32bit

    Good afternoon,
Using 11gR1 on Windows XP, I need help installing a database (single instance) using ASM, I am not able to select disks to be stamped for use by ASM. I have done the following steps:
    1. Installed the Oracle 11gR1 software (no database created - just the software)
    2. Connected nine (9) SCSI hard drives to the system
    3. Created a primary partition on each hard drive, formatted the partition but did *not* assign a drive letter
    4. Created a listener service (working properly - checked with lsnrctl  status)
    5. Started DBCA to create a single database instance using ASMIn DBCA I performed the following:
    a. at the welcome screen, click Next
    b. at "Step 1 of 16", click Next (accepting the default "Create a Database")
    c. at "Step 2 of 16", click Next (accepting the default "General Purpose or Transaction Processing)
    d. at "Step 3 of 16", "Global Database Name" set to "dbca", "SID" set to "dbca", click Next
    e. at "Step 4 of 16", click Next (accepting the defaults)
    f. at "Step 5 of 16", click "Use same administrative passwords for all accounts" and entered password, click Next
    g. at "Step 6 of 16", click "Automatic Storage Management (ASM)", click Next
Everything seems just fine until I reach the following step
    h. at "Step 7 of 16", click "Create New"
        - The Create Disk Group window pops up (there is nothing shown in the "Select Member Disk Area")
        - set the "Disk Group Name" to  "DATAGROUP"
        - click on "Show All" (no devices shown after clicking)
        - click on "Stamp Disks..."  this causes the "asmtool operation" window to pop up
          - click on "Add or change label", click on Next
          - the "Select Disks" step appears.   There are 11 hard drives listed but NONE of them
can be selected - all I can do here is click on Cancel*The question:* Why aren't the drives selectable and what do I need to do to make them selectable ?
Thank you very much for your help,
    John.

    >
The question: Why aren't the drives selectable and what do I need to do to make them selectable ?
    >
To answer my own question (now that I've figured it out), the reason is because the partition should not be formatted.
When Windows displays the "New Partition Wizard", it is important to:
    1. not assign a drive letter
    2. and select "Do not format this partition"
This will cause Windows to mount the volume thus making it accessible to Oracle.
Hopefully this will help someone not fall in this trap as I did,
    John.

  • URL to download Oracle 10g clusterware softare

    Hi,
Can anyone give me the URL to download Oracle 10g Clusterware software, I found only Oracle 11g Clusterware in download section of Oracle site.

  • Using Oracle 11gR1 OID to control access to 11gR2 RAC database ?

I have a two 11gR2 RAC Node database that I would like to implement Oracle 11gR1 OID to manage all access to the RAC database.
Should I install and configure Oracle 11gR1 OID into the same RAC database to control access to the RAC database? Is this the appropriate approach?
Please share your ideas... I couldn't make it to Openword to ask this type of question.

    Hi,
I think there is some confusion here. OID doesnt protect your database. All OID is doing is taking the authentication of the user and authorization (privileges) of the user to OID and out of the database. This way you can centralize the management of all user accounts in one place and not worry about it in the database. This is helpful only if you have many databases. If you have a very small number of databases and small number of user accounts, then OID is not really buying you anything. The best practices is published in the oracle docs. Just that you have to read a lot to figure it all out. Here are some info from our installation.
    1. weblogic and oid application is installed on a application server
    2. Repository database is a independant database (not shared with other apps) in a shared RAC cluster.
    3. Replication (OID application replication) setup between a primary oid server and a secondary oid server in the DR site
    4. Load balancer configured to point to the primary server and if primary server is not available, point the connection to secondary server
    5. DIP configured to pull all users and groups from active directory
    6. Password filter installed on all DC's to capture passwords and ship it to oid.
    7. Users creation, modification, deletion, expiry, etc., is all controlled on active directory.
    8. Database registered with OID for user authentication and authorization
For protecting you data, you will need to use additional security methods/products like :
    1. Database vault (to prevent privileged users from operating on the data)
    2. Database auditing
    3. Fine-grained access control
    4. table level policies
    5. Fine-grained auditing (column level)
    6. Audit vault (to consolidate all audit records to a central place for auditors to classify and research each audit event)
    7. operational/process to enforce security.
    Good luck :-).
    Regards,
    Shaji.

  • Oracle 11gr1 service unable to start in window 7 home basic

    Hi ,
I have installed oracle 11gr1(64 bit) in window 7 home basic (64 bit).
Database installed sucessfully completed and then when i tried to connect through SQL*PLUS i got erro like
    ERROR:
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified.
Then i checked whether oracle service is started or not. when service is showing status_type is automatic and not started.
After installation i have restarted my laptop. i tried to start oracle srvice its throughing error is
Window could not start the oracleserviceorcl service in local system.
Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly.
Can you please help me how to start service with out any error.
    Thanks

11gR1 is not certified on any Windows 7 version.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/install.111/b32006/reqs.htm#CHDHGGFE
Also, Home/Basic versions of Windows are not certified for any Oracle software installs.
One option you have is to install VM software on your Win 7 machine, create a Linux VM, install Linux in the VM, then install 11gR2 in the Linux VM, Pl see my blog (linked in my profile) for detailed steps on how to do so.

  • Oracle 9i backward compatibility

Are there any issues with Oracle 8i and Oracle 9i database compatibility? If so, any of you list the issues abd please provide what is the work around?

    Hi,
Microsoft's OLEDB Provider for Oracle is provided by Microsoft, comes with MDAC (should already be installed) and works with any version of Oracle client although they stopped certifying it back in 8i (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q244661/)
Oracle's Provider for OLEDB is provided by Oracle, and is client version specific (10.2.x oraoledb requires 10.2.x client, etc) and can be obtained via the ODAC downloads at http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/windows/odpnet/index.html
Theyre generally backward compatible to a couple versions of database.
    Hope it helps,
    Greg
