Oracle 8i on Mandrake 6.1 - Installation Fails

I have recently upgraded one of my Mandrake 6.0 boxes to Mandrake
6.1 (plus all updates available as of 9/29/1999). I am now
unable to run Oracle's 8i Installation Program. I have tested
running this same program on my Mandrake 6.0 server, and I do not
encounter the problem listed below. Here is a transcript of the
encountered problem:

I ran into the same problem an a Mandrake 6.1 box (worked fine
under 6.0 and 6.1b) using jre116_v5. I tried to get around the
problem by changing to the install/linux directory and running
runIns.sh, this started up the installer and I went through
accepting the defaults, but when it got to the installation step,
hung on "Copying swingall.jar" with the progress bar at 0%. I
was able to cancel and exit out, but could not get it to install.
I tried installing both the client and the server with the same
result. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a problem installing Oracle 10g (10.2.0.1.0) in a new home, while on the same machine is installed oracle 9i base. The installation starts, I select Enterprise suite, and a new home, the setup passes trough some checks and unexpectedly quits without any error.

Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1 Installations fails on windows 7 64 bit

Hi guys,
I am trying since the last 10 days to install Oracle EBS 12.1 on windows 7 64 bit. I have installed the pre-requisites, .i.e:
1. MKS Toolkit 8.7
2. Visual C++ 2005
3. I am installing from the Administrator user Account, which is added to the Administrators Group.
4. After the installation is started all the prerequisite checks are met.
The setup displays the following error on completion of 33% after unzipping all the 237 files:
RW-50004: Error code received when running external process. Check log file for details.
Running Database install Driver for VIS instance
When i checked the log file i found the following error in the logfile 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Oracle\Inventory\logs\cloneActions2011-06-05_02-30-16PM'

Windows 7 is certified version for ebs 12.1. I have myself installed it on another system and it is running well. But on this system has some issues.Win7 certified on client tier

If you try to make r12.1 installation on win 7, its mean you can try to make installation on uncertified platform.

RAC 11g Installation Failing, saying "$GRID_HOME/bin/crsctl : No such file or directory"

   I've the below mentioned problem.
Some time ago, I installed Oracle 11g RAC. As this installation failed, I removed both Grid Home and Database Home using "rm", rather than deinstalling as deinstall failed while running. Now, when I do a fresh install of Oracle 11g RAC, I get the below response while running $GRID_HOME/root.sh:

   Your suggestion helped immensely. I removed all the oracle related files and directories from /etc/oracle, removed entry in /etc/inittab and removed links to startup/kill scripts from /etc/rc.d/*.
I've added below steps I followed so it may be helpful:
1. Removed these directory lastgasp, oprocd, scls_scr from /etc/oracle
2. removed ocr.loc.orig, olr.loc, olr.loc.orig from /etc/oracle
3. Removed the entry h1:35:respawn:/etc/init.d/init.ohasd run >/dev/null 2>&1 </dev/null from /etc/inittab
4. Removed K19ohasd -> /etc/init.d/ohasd from /etc/rc.d/rc0.d
5. Removed K19ohasd -> /etc/init.d/ohasd from /etc/rc.d/rc1.d
6. Removed K19ohasd -> /etc/init.d/ohasd from /etc/rc.d/rc2.d
7. Removed S96ohasd -> /etc/init.d/ohasd from /etc/rc.d/rc3.d
8. Removed K19ohasd -> /etc/init.d/ohasd from /etc/rc.d/rc4.d
9. Removed S96ohasd -> /etc/init.d/ohasd from /etc/rc.d/rc5.d
10. Removed K19ohasd -> /etc/init.d/ohasd from /etc/rc.d/rc6.d
Then, Grid installation was started, and root.sh went well. The Grid Infrastructure was installed successfully on both the nodes.
This has been performed on all nodes in the cluster. In fact, I had only 2 nodes in the cluster.

I used several versions on Linux but not that one.
That said the error :
libXext.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directoryResolution : Install the libXp package
So you are missing at least one of the "extra" packages needed for an Oracle install.
I found some posts that make me believe Cent 6 isn't quite ready for Oracle 11 :

Oracle 12 post-installation fails-http server not coming up

Apps dba;
We did a fresh installation of the Oracle E-biz 12 on our Linux (2.6.967.0.4.ELsmp).
The scenario is like this:
1) two nodes, db and cm on one node, the web sever and form on the other node
2) The db and cm node installation is successful.
3) After install the web and form node, the post-installation fails. The HTTP and JSP and Login page tests failed.
If I do adapcctl.sh status
I got the following :

do the dcmctl, i got the error, the required file is not existing.

Oracle Forms and Report 10g r2 standalone installation fail on Solaris 8

I tried to install Oracle Forms & Report 10g r2 standalone on solaris 8.
However the installation failed with the following error:

Have anyone encounter the same error. Passed the prerequisite check but still fail during linking.
I managed to install 9.0.4 successfully on the same server without any problem.

Do you ahve the Shared_library variable? LD_LIBRARY_PATH, SHARED_LIBRARY_PATH ?? Usually one of this have to point to where the librarias are.

I've just solved the problem. The problem was, our Listener was not configured correctly.
I've adjusted the listener.ora, tnsnames.ora to the correct hostname - cause, we had a hostname-switch last month and I had forgotten to adapt the Listener...
now the Listener is running as well:

Installation Failing on Windows XP PRo

Trying to install 10G Express with no luck. The installation process just stops and no further messages or prompts are given. Installation fails during the Copying files process and the last message in the dialog box is "Producing Product Information". Here is a snippet from the OracleDatabaseExpressInstall.log

There are a few well known installation issues - in order of likelihood
1) Check that the Windows username you have logged on with does not contain a space (or other special characters such as umlauts etc). The workaround is to create another Windows account without spaces, give that account Administrator privileges, and install using that account.
2) Certain locales have problems. These include Russian, Estonian, English - South Africa, Spanish - Dominican Republic, German - Switzerland, French - Switzerland, Italian - Switzerland. The work around is to set the user locale to something else before the XE installation.
3) If you have the DLL oraociei10.dll in your path you will have problems. Workaround is: Search to see if this file exists on your hard drive. If it does, check to see that the directory that contains it is not in your path. If it is in your path, then remove during the Install. You can add it back to your path after the install, but the SQL Command line provides with Oracle Database XE will not work
In all cases above, deinstall the software using Add/Remove Progam before trying the work around

OUI 10.2 Prerequisite Check Fails With OUI-15038 And "[value for param now is null]" [ID 602059.1]:
Cause
Some kernel tunables (parameters) have been changed but the new values will not be activated until the next server reboot
Solution
Reboot the server so that the kernel tunable (parameter) changes are activated before installing the Oracle software
Workaround
The errors/warnings can be ignored and the Oracle installation can be completed successfully, but it is best to schedule a reboot of the server soon so that the pending kernel parameter changes are activated.

9.2.0.3 patch set installation fails on Solaris 8

i've installed Oracle9iR2 (64-bit) client on a Solaris 8 system and i'm now having problems installing the 9.2.0.3 patch set. during the installation process i get the following error message from OUI:

this command fails when trying to link trcroute. the link command seems to have incorrect paths as it seems to expect to find crt?.o files from $ORACLE_HOME/lib/WS6U1 while they are located in $ORACLE_HOME/lib/WS6U2/lib/v9. i modified $ORACLE_HOME/network/lib/env_network.mk (CCVER, COMPOBJ) so that crt?.o can be found.
after this change the same link command fails with this message:
ld: fatal: file $ORACLE_HOME/network/lib/s0nur.o:
wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32
ld: fatal: File processing errors. No output written to trcroute
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `trcroute'
i checked the object files in network/lib and they all seem to be ELF 32-bit.
does someone know what's causing these problems with the installation and how to fix it?

that's what i started to suspect as well. it's quite likely that the patch is for 32-bit installations. i'll try it with the 64-bit patch. thanks.

OVMM 3.3.1 installation fails on OVS 3.3.1 in vbox environment.

I'm trying to install Oracle VM Manager 3.3.1 on Oracle Server 3.3.1 @ Oracle VirtualBox VM for testing It
Installation ISO of VM Server downloaded from edelivery with name V46550-01.iso
Installation ISO of VM Manager downloaded from edelivery with name V46555-01.iso
VirtualBox version is 4.2.18 r88780 @ Win7 x86_64, host machine is HP ProBook 4340s (core i3-2370M 4Gb RAM), guest VM is 2cpu 2Gb RAM.
Oracle VM Server was sucessfully installed before.
Now I try to install VM Manager as it described in document part 3.4.2

mount /dev/cdrom /mnt
cd /mnt
./createOracle.sh
... [done]
./runInstaller.sh
installation fais with message "Configuration verification failed" because it found VM server as "redhat 3.3.1", not Oracle Linux.

When I try to install it without prerequisite check
./runInstaller.sh -n
installation fails with non-error message "Retrieving MySQL Database 5.6".

How can I correctly install VM Manager on VM server in this case?

I want to install ovmm into ovs dom0.
Is this prohibited or just unsupported by oracle?
There are some unofficial instructions about this way, like

Looks like it works on previus versions of ovmm and ovs.

Adobe Premiere and After Effects CS6 installer failed to initialize on Mac Book Air

Hi everybody,
I'm trying to install Adobe Premiere and After Effects CS6 for at least a month now.
I have downloaded the .dmg file at the Adobe Website and it starts to initializing the installer, then a error show up:
"The installer could not initialize. Download the Adobe Support Advisor."
There is no Adobe Support Advisor when I clicked on the link. "The Adobe Support Advisor has been discontinued" (http://www.adobe.com/support/loganalyzer/)
I've tried this many times, but every time being a failure.
