Oracle 9 ,10 client errors.
In toad there is such an error:
Cannot load OCI DLL: C:\Users\Admin\Desktop\instantclient_10_2\oci.dll
in client 10 there is such error:
ORA-12154:
TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
There is such an error I can't seem to get working instant client 10 or oracle client 9 on windows 10 , on windows 7 it works perfectly fine , and yes im using 32bit client and 32 bit toad for oracle.
toad v 9.7.2.5
You should also contact Oracle and discuss this issue with them. Oracle may have a solution for you.
They pretty much said that oracle client 9 and 10 are not supported anymore and windows 10 too.
For now I will be using oracle virtual box but it would be nice to have it done without it .

Solaris PHP 5.2.12 Oracle Instant Client Error
We are testing a Oracle Solaris Express 11 Server with the standard Apache and PHP installation. But we need the Oracle Instant client and the oci8 module enabled for our company applications.
We did this by using ./pecl install oci8 in /usr/php/5.2/bin. We set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH in /etc/apache2/2.2/envvars
a 32bits solaris (x86) version of the Oracle Instant Client 11.2 is installed in /opt/oracle/instantclient_11_2 with the symbolic link made.
envvars:
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/oracle/instantclient_11_2
ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/instantclient_11_2
ORACLE_BASE=/opt/oracle/instantclient_11_2
he oci8 module installed and php loads it.
phpinfo(); output:

Active Connections 0
Oracle Run-time Client Library Version 11.2.0.2.0
Oracle Instant Client Version 11.2
Temporary Lob support enabled
When we first view a site there is no problem but very randomly we get the following error:
OCIEnvNlsCreate() failed. There is something wrong with your system - please check that LD_LIBRARY_PATH includes the directory with Oracle Instant Client libraries*
but when we use echo getenv("LD_LIBRARY_PATH"); in php the output is "/opt/oracle/instantclient_11_2"
now the strange this is as randomly as it appears it disappears we can load the web-page without problems and after a couple of clicks the error is back. if we wait a coupe of seconds you can reload the page and it loads normaly.
The error appears to be random and we get it over and over agian, it comes and goes after a cpl of pages are viewed. It seems to appear more when there are multiple users browsing on the website.
Is there a fix for this? is this an known bug? It seems strange the instant client works some times and fails a second later without a change in the system.
Hope someone can help us.
Edited by: user10978378 on Sep 3, 2011 4:20 AMSolved it by compiling apache 2.2.20 into 64bits using:

and compiling php 5.3.8 into 64bits:

there might be a bug in the 11.x ones, they dont seem to work on Oracle Solaris 11. -
Oracle Thin Client Error when Inserting

Oracle 8.1.7.1 on Linux as DB with Network Option
(encryption)
Oracle Client 10.2.0.3 Thin Client (tried with ojdbc14 and
ojdbc12 classes)
SELECT, DELETE, UPDATE statements all work just fine.
When an INSERT statement is sent to the DB it is processed
(the insert is made and committed!) but we are getting a database
error message "Typlänge größer als Höchstwert"
which translates approximately to typ length is larger than the
limit.
Several threads show this as a problem when the return from
the db is too large but this is definately not the case (a simple
insert of one small row).
The SQL that is run at the DB includes a suffix of "RETURNING
ROWID" which is not part of our SQL and is apparently added by CF
or the thin client. We do not handle the return value (we tried but
that did not help either).
Due to the fact that the INSERT is actually made and
committed, we assume the problem must be at the client end and not
in the database.
This is a blocking problem and appears to be confined to CF 8
with the Thin Client.
CF 8 with an ODBC connection to the same DB works OK.
Be very glad for any help as we want to go to production with
this environment.
Cheers
ThomasI noticed in LiveDocs for
cfquery
for CF 8 that the
result parameter is a little different than described for
CF7 in that it mentions the ROWID being returned for Oracle insert
statements.
What happens when you try including a result parameter (even
if you don't end up using the result_name.ROWID variable)?
result Optional Name for the structure in which cfquery
returns the result variables. For more information, see Usage.
The cfquery tag also returns the following result variables
in a structure. You can access these variables with a prefix of the
name you specified in the result attribute. For example, if you
assign the name myResult to the result attribute, you would
retrieve the name of the SQL statement that was executed by
accessing #myResult.sql#. The result attribute provides a way for
functions or CFCs that are called from multiple pages, possibly at
the same time, to avoid overwriting results of one call with
another. The result variable of INSERT queries contains a key-value
pair that is the automatically generated ID of the inserted row;
this is available only for databases that support this feature. If
more than one record was inserted, the value can be a list of IDs.
The key name is database-specific.
result_name.ROWID Oracle only. The ID of an inserted row.
This is not the primary key of the row, although you can retrieve
rows based on this ID.
I have a hunch that there are differences between Oracle 8i
and 10g in how the rowid value is being "returned".

Error to connect oracle 10g client and designer BO 4.0
hello,
I try to connect oracle 10g client and designer BO 4.0.
I created an ODBC connection to function in the administration tools of data sources but I can not connect once in designer.
I tried using the driver directly oracle designer 10 but I have the same error that is this:
DBD: ORA-12154: TNS: connection identifier specified could not be resolved
someone there had the same concerns?
cordiallyHi,
so it looks like that your TNSNAMES.ORA file isn`t properly configured. Thats why you can connect with the IDT to your Oracle Database.
Your DBA`s should sent you the correct TNSNAMES.ORA file or the entry for your DB prior. After the tnsping works, you will be able to use the IDT properly.

Hello
I have Oracle 10.1.0 enterprise database installed on a Windows 2003 server.
I have another machine that has Fedora Core 5 installed on it. I downloaded:
Apache 2.2.3
Php 5.1.6
OracleInstantClient 10.1.0.5 (base and skdk packages) from technet.oracle.com
I created a directory called /usr/lib/instantclient10_1 in which I unzipped
the files for the Oracle Instant Client and the SDK into /usr/lib/instantclient10_1.
So inside /usr/lib/instantclient10_1 I have:
all the unzipped filed from the base for the instant client as well as
a directory called sdk with files inside this subdirectory.
I compiled and installed Apache.
I then tried to configure php using the instantclient with the configure option
--with-oci8=instantclient/usr/lib/instantclient10_1
The first time I did this I got the error: "link from
/usr/lib/instantclient10_1/libclntsh.so to libclntsh.so.10
not found"
Well I had the libclntsh.so.10 but no such link. So I did the following:
ln -s libclntsh.so.10.1 libclntsh.so
I assume this was OK to do but I found it strange that I had to do this.
Question #1 - why should I have to do this?
I then tried to configure php again but got an error that I paste in from
the debug.log. From this debug log you can see the configure options I gave for
php as well as the error. It says "cannot find -lirc". Now I did put into
/etc/ld.so.conf the line /usr/lib/gaim since that is where libirc.so is and ran
ldconfig but it still complained. When I copied libirc.so into /usr/lib it then said there were
lots of errors in that libirc.so. The only item in the configure options depending on lirc is
the with-oci8. Why does with-oci8 depend on lirc?
I also tried the above on Red Hat AS 4.0 and got the same errors.
Question #2 -- what do I do?
Thank You
Gail Lange
Here is the debug.log in the case when libirc.so is just in /usr/lib/gaim:

The error seems to be related with temporary tables manipulation, does it?
Has we didnât know what to do we try to import those parcels after dropping a spatial index over the parcelâs table and we succeed with the import.
Those any one has any ideas about this?
And about spatial indexes internals?
Thanks in advance,

Yes, Oracle uses temporary tables as part of inserts/
deletes/updates on a table with a spatial index.
Temporary table usage internally should not
have any issues and we are not sure why this problem
surfaces. Opening a TAR on this with a simplified
testcase (and all config details: # of concurrent
sessions etc.) might help in a better understanding/
resolution of this issue.
In the meanwhile, as a workaround, you can do the
following:
- drop the spatial index
- migrate (insert) the data into the table from the
application
- recreate the spatial index
This will avoid the temporary table issue at hand.

We are getting an intermittent error that doesn't help much and I would like to read up on the error to figure out what to do to fix it. Do any of you know how or where to look up error numbers for this? The error we are getting is: Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException Data provider internal error(-3000)
I have searched www.Oracle.com and done a Google search and the only hit I get is a similar error (error(-3001) for them) that has to do with connection pooling. They didn't get a solution to their post. There are no reference links that come back on my searches.
So, can you help?Hi,
-3000 means something bad happened internally in the provider. It's a catchall "you should never get here" error. As such, it's usually something the ODP team needs to fix, as opposed to something you can fix in your code.
My best suggestion is to make sure you're using the latest and greatest provider and see if it still occurs. If it still occurs on current versions, you'll probably want to open up a SR with support, enable tracing to generate a "mini dump" when the behavior occurs, and have the dump analyzed.

Windows 7, Oracle 11g Client Post-Installation Error
Hello all--
Background Info:
- I have installed Oracle 11g Client (32-bit) on my Windows 7 Professional (32-bit) workstation.
- The ORACLE_HOME directory (in my case C:\Oracle\Ora11g) is in the PATH environment variable.
- I have created TNS_ADMIN as an environment variable that points to a network folder that contains our tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora.
- I can tnsping our servers and sqlplus connects without issue.
- I am logged in as a regular network user (added into the local Administrators group on my machine).
The problem is that I cannot connect using a user or system DSN in the Microsoft ODBC Administrator, BUT, I can connect with a DSN when I am logged in with the local Administrator account. I have verified the DSNs are setup correctly. The error I get is the ORA-12154 error.
Here is the exact error as it appears:
Unable to connect
SQLState=08004
[Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
If I copy the tnsnames.ora file from the network to my machine and remove/redirect TNS_ADMIN to the %ORACLE_HOME%\NETWORK\ADMIN folder, it works with my user account.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
MattHi All--
I figured out what the problem was and I wanted to share what our solution was.
Basically, when you open the Microsoft ODBC Administrator in Windows 7, it has to run with elevated privileges and loads the Administrator profile. Our tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files are on a network share that we map to a drive letter for all users across our organization. The Administrator profile does not have this drive mapping. So I created the TNS_ADMIN environment variable with the full UNC path and I was able to test DSNs successfully.

Matt -
Hi, I'm a newbie using Oracle ODP.NET provider for .NET.
We have a web application that uses XSD to connect to Oracle using the provider System.Data.OracleClient.
We want to migrate from System.Data.OracleClient to Oracle.DataAccess.Client.
Installing and referencing the Oracle.DataAccess.dll all works fine.
Then I changed all the references from System.Data.OracleClient to Oracle.DataAccess.Client and removed the System.Data.OracleClient.dll assembly from the web.config file.
All compiles well, until I run the application, looks like the problem is the parameter use in the XSD file... the error I get is:

Many thanks in advance for any help!
PieterMS OracleClient binds parameters by name. ODP.NET binds by position. If you want to change ODP.NET's default parameter binding behavior, set:
OracleCommand.BindByName = true;
Do this for every OracleCommand that binds parameters. -
'The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client error' popping up randomly
I have several asp.net pages running on an application server which generally work without issue. However I've had the Server error "The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client error" crop up twice seemingly randomly that affects all of my pages that interact with the DB server. A simple reboot of the application server solves the issue and the pages run again with no problems. What could be causing this problem?
Sorry if I wasn't clear initially. Basically I've got 2 different applications in 2 different IIS folders on the webserver, each with several asp.net pages. They work fine for a period of time and then inexplicably that error gets thrown and affects all of my asp.net pages in both applications. The admin tells me that the other older applications on the same server are unaffected. A simple reboot of the server fixes the issue until the next time it happens (I can't identify any consistent point where this crash happens, the admin originally suggested that there might be something in my code causing a memory issue). I had the same applications hosted on my local machine for a time and this never happened as well as it never happening when I run them in localhost. How can I trace whether or not another part of my application is trying to load ODP.NET by itself? How can I verify the DLL search order for my application?

I see the error: ORA-12170 when I make Net Manager on Oracle DTB Client
Dear all,
I installed Oracle Database 10 g on Server, then I installed Oracle Database Client 10 g on another PC. I tested the connection database from client PC by making Net Manager on Oracle Database Client. And I see the error ORA - 12170.
Can you help me?
I want to connect database on Server to practice add Portlet by SQL/PLUS.
Thanks.Oracle says...
ORA-12170: TNS:Connect timeout occurred
Cause: The server shut down because connection establishment or communication with a client failed to complete within the allotted time interval. This may be a result of network or system delays; or this may indicate that a malicious client is trying to cause a Denial of Service attack on the server.
Action: If the error occurred because of a slow network or system, reconfigure one or all of the parameters SQLNET.INBOUND_CONNECT_TIMEOUT, SQLNET.SEND_TIMEOUT, SQLNET.RECV_TIMEOUT in sqlnet.ora to larger values. If a malicious client is suspected, use the address in sqlnet.log to identify the source and restrict access. Note that logged addresses may not be reliable as they can be forged (e.g. in TCP/IP).
Also check the following...
1) Listener status on the server.
2) Check listener.log file present in X:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\NETWORK\log folder to grab any error.
3) Check the result of tnsping from the client.
4) try to login by sqlplus username/password@tnsname and see what happens. -
System Error 1114 from ODBC driver in Oracle XE Client
Hello,
I am running into some problems connecting to our Oracle 10.1.0.2 database through the ODBC driver supplied with the Oracle XE Client. I set up a DSN, and the test was successful. I can get to the database using that DSN to import data into MS Access, but when I am having problems when I try to connect using a program I have written.
On the first connection, I use the following connection string:
DSN=orcl-xe
and I get the following response:
[28000] [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-01005: null password given; logon denied
which makes sense given that no password was provided.
On the second connection attempt, the user has entered an ID and password, and I use the following connection string:
DSN=orcl-xe;UID=mapper;PWD=brock01
This connection attempt, and subsequent attempts, result in the following error:
IM003] Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 1114 (Oracle in XEClient)
The driver was loaded and responded to my first connection attempt, so I don't understand why the second attempt would fail like this. After the first attempt fails, my program frees the various environment and connection handles, so there shouldn't be any resource issues.
Can someone tell me what system error 1114 means? I saw some information in another forum that indicated that a DLL might be missing, but I've got C:\XEClient\bin as the first entry in my path, and the ORACLE_HOME environment variable is pointing to the correct directory. As far as I know, all of the required runtime DLLs are available in the path.
Thanks,
BobI have been developing an Excel application using the Oracle XE client. At first, it created an ADO connection, from which I opened a record set. After this, it created several new QueryTables. This worked great.
Later, among other things, I needed to reverse the order of those connections. After two weeks of wasted time, I finally realized that was why I started getting the "Specified driver..." error. If I used a file that created the connections in the original order, it worked. If I left Excel open, the file that had the connections in the opposite order also worked. However, if I closed Excel and then tried the file that had them in the "bad" order first, it failed.
Somehow, just having created an ADO connection, even in a different file, even closing it and destroying the object, Excel remembered it and knew how to create the QueryTables. By the way, before I realized how to work around it, I noticed that I could create QueryTables in the front end and browse the data through Microsoft Query, but it would fail with the error when I tried to bring the data into a worksheet.
My workaround was to open an ADO connection, close it, and destroy the object BEFORE trying to create the QueryTables. It works, but I can't believe the time I had to waste getting there. -
Oracle Lite and Oracle 8i Client on Win98
I've had Olite v8i running on my Win98 machine for a while now. I just installed Oracle 8i Client on my machine. Now, my JDBC driver for Oracle Lite does NOT work. What could have happened here??
Thanks.

nullHI Jeremy,
I think, Your PATH was cranked up.
The JDBC driver for OLite normally does not use any OCI DLLs, so that should not be the problem. As I said, the OLite dlls may be missing now from the PATH.
Any error messages? "Does not work" is a bit... fuzzy.
