Oracle Apex 4.0: Changing #WELCOME_USER# at Navigation Bar

Hi,
In my case, I am logging into the system using user_id. However, as it is a numerical id, in navigation bar it is showing as "Welcome 1". I am using database authentication for login.
I have a table where mapping of user_id & user name exists.
I want to display user name instead of user id. e.g. "Welcome <User_lastname>, <User_firstname>".
Can I call database while each page loads? Any suggestions.
Thanks,
Nov-tech

Hi,
maybe this helps Nov-tech
hi,
You can change the #WELCOME_USER# by using calling this plsql code in page:
begin
apex_application.g_flow_owner := 'OWNER_NAME';
end;
Where
OWNER_NAME = Name of the user which you want to set
Regards,
Kartik(from APEX 4:   #WELCOME_USER# substitution string

  • Changing hight of navigation bar

I am new to dreamweaver.  I have created an unordered list navigation bar that sits in an absolute-position div.  I had set the div  with at 770 pix and the height for a hundred pix.  I then created an <u>l pressing return on my mac between each list item.  I then used the <li> in the tag selector to creat an css rule making the list float left.
My problem:  I would like to reduce the height of the div to just accomodating the list items.  I changed the div height in the property inspector to 0px.  But the actual visage image of the div does not change.  There is too much space within the div, above and below the list items of the navigation bar and I can't seem to adjust it.  How can this be done?  Is it to do with the div box set up?
I have already removed "padding" from the top and bottom as well as "white space" of the navigation div.
    Help.....

A link to your page is what is needed to get any positive and meaningful response.
    Good luck.

  • How do i make a navigation bar for all pages

    Hi friends !
I want the same navigation bar to appear on all the web pages of my website. (As these are the common things that all the webpages will have). But I didn't find any option to use the navigation bar as a template.
Will I have to copy and paste the same navigation bar on all the pages (let's say 50 to 60 pages, I will have). It will be very tiresome and tedious job to do.
And also if I make even a minor change in the navigation bar then I will have to change it in all 50-60 pages.
    What should I do ?
Please help me in this regard.
Imagine a 100 or 200 page site, perfectly functioning and on the air. Then, one day, you need to add or delete some button, or simply change a link. You need to change the menubar in ALL 200 pages, and then re-publish them all. Quite a work, ah ?
    Regards,
    Jtechmiami

Although Dreamweaver Templates and Library items are suitable tools for doing this, they're tedious and cumbersome at best. They get old very quickly.
By far the most efficient method is to set your navigation bar up as a Server Side Include (SSI).
SSIs are not Dreamweaver specific, they're a general web technology available on any server.
    A good primer here
    http://www.projectseven.com/products/menusystems/pmm2/ug-examples/includes/index.htm
Do you already have a hosting account? Does it have PHP available?

Not with SSIs. Simple sitewide menu updates take a few seconds.
You edit a single text file locally (either button labels or a CSS rule for styling the button), upload (1-2 seconds) and every page on the site is instantly updated.
    Much better than DW Templates.

  • My website navigation bar falls behind the flash content

    Hello All,
    i have the website, http://www.retailtechnologyexperts.com
and am using safari 4 and to be precise..it is safari 4(530.17)
i have made almost all the changes,,but the navigation bar falls behind the flash content on the homepage..i have checked this in all the other browsers like,,ie8, ie7, firefox, chrome,,they are responding positively,,by displaying the flash behind the nav bar...
i was initially having a problem with various browsers...but one by one,,i was able to clear off...but am not able to clear the problem with safari 4
safari being widely used browser..i dont want to mess up my site here...
any help will be greatly appreciated..
    thank u,,

    It works here but...
The pitfall of Flash and movie/video media is they tent to be on top of everything on a web page. No matter what the z space is set for the Flash media in the html code. Use to be called, "rising to the top."
So, that being said...just because it works on my computer doesn't mean it will work on another computer. There a big chance that the menu will fall behind the Flash media for other viewers. Move the Flash or redesign the menu.
You might not like this answer but that is the way it is with media on a web page.

  • Navigation Bar Entry Subtemplate Definition

Is there a substitution string that represents the link for an Navigation Bar Entry?
I want to control the display of the entries in the navigation bar. The Navigation Bar SubTemplate Definition and #BAR_BODY# substitution string allow you to control the display of the bar as a whole.
Entries in the Navigation Bar Entry Subtemplate Definition display correctly for each entry in the Navigation Bar, but unless you can also include the link itself, it is all rather pointless!
    Thanks
    Roger

    Scott
I want to change the spacing between the navigation bar entries so that instead of looking like:
    Print Logout NavHere NavThere
    they look like (for example):
    Print - Logout - Navhere - Navthere
I thought I would be able to do this by editing the Page Template. The Page Template definition page contains Subtemplates for Navigation Bar and Navigation Bar entry. Making changes to the Navigation Bar Subtemplate controls the whole bar and would allow, for example:
< Print Logout Navhere Navthere >
    by setting the Subtemplate to
    < #BAR_BODY# >
I thought I would be able to achieve what I want by changing the Navigation Bar Entry Subtemplate definition to, for example:
    #BAR_LINK# -
Unfortunately, I don't know what the correct substitution string is to include the actual link entry in the template. It's not #BAR_LINK#, which I made up.
If this isn't the purpose of the Navigation Bar Entry Subtemplate definition, what is it for?
Don't worry about the actual formatting of the link, I just want to know how to wrap some standard HTML around each entry in the Navigation Bar.
    Thanks
    Roger

  • Apex Collection - tracking changes/updates on cells

I created an apex collections page which displays and allows user to update the array/matrix/cells.
I created a button to apply and save the changes; this process is working fine for update/insert as necessary.
I'm struggling on a couple of points:
    1. If the user gets out of the page or do a refresh, I wanted to show an error or message that when a cell has been updated in the page, to display an error-like " that there are unsaved changes". And let them click on the update button I created. I read that there is the function called COLLECTION_HAS_CHANGED however, I'm not quite sure how to make it work with Dynamic Action.
Any guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
2 Updating a cell value from not null to null is a bit of a challenge.
The question is: Is there a way to find if a cell's value is changed from not null to null during the time I'm performing update_member_attribute ?
(The update_member_attribute I found on the forum and I am using is handling it using IS NOT NULL -- I think this is good because it will avoid me getting a bunch of records inserted if the cells are indeed NULL (before and after).
below is the part of the code I'm referring to ...
    FOR i IN 1.. APEX_APPLICATION.G_F02.COUNT LOOP
IF apex_application.g_f02 (i) IS NOT NULL THEN
    APEX_COLLECTION.UPDATE_MEMBER_ATTRIBUTE (
    p_collection_name => 'COLLECTION1',
    p_seq => i,
    p_attr_number => 2,
    p_attr_value => apex_application.g_f02 (i));
    END IF;
    END LOOP;
I could removed the NOT NULL IF condition, but I only wanted to do the null update when there was a value previously.
    Thanks.

it work with Dynamic Action.COLLECTION_HAS_CHANGED This will be useful if the data has changed on the server side, and you are talking about user navigating away without saving the changes that means the data is entered only on the client/browser side.
For handling that you can use this plugin http://apex-plugin.com/oracle-apex-plugins/dynamic-action-plugin/skillbuilders-save-before-exit_43.html
Any guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You will be updating a cell value based on the user entry, no matter if it is null or not null.

  • Issue in Upgrading Oracle APEX 2.1 to 3.1

    Hi,
I have recently installed Oracle Database 10g Express Edition (Oracle Database XE) which includes Oracle Application Express (Oracle APEX) release 2.1
I have upgraded from Oracle APEX 2.1 to 3.1 by following instructions in http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/3.1_and_xe.html
Following is the sequence of steps I followed
    1. @apexins SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/
    2. @APEX_HOME/apex/apxldimg.sql APEX_HOME
    3. @APEX_HOME/apex/apxxepwd.sql password
Now Oracle Database express home page changes to
    http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex/f?p=4550:1:723721796272276
All gif logos are missing and font appears differently. More importantly nothing happens after entering workspace/username/password and clicking login button. I am using internet exlorer 7 and it says "Error on Page" on the bottom status bar.
Please let me know if any one encounterd similar issue and if you were able to fix the issue.
    Thanks for your help
    RSNAIK

    Hello,
For all of you who have the same problem that we had.
After two installs and desinstall, I have finally found what to do.
You must stop the OracleXETNSListener service when upgrading Oracle Database 10g Express Edition.
Here the steps to follow assuming that you have installed Oracle Database 10g Express Edition into C:\oraclexe
and unzipped apex_3.1.2 into C:\apex on a Windows XP System :
    1. On Windows XP, Startup Menu, go to the Configuration panel, open Administration Tools, open Services, then you will click on the OracleXETNSListener service, stop it.
    2. On Windows XP, Startup Menu, select Execute, type cmd and press OK to open a DOS window.
    3. At the DOS prompt, type cd apex.
    4. At the DOS prompt, type sqlplus /nolog
    5. At the SQL prompt, type connect SYS as SYSDBA
    6. Type the password of the user SYSTEM that you choose when installing Oracle XE.
    7. At the SQL prompt, type *@apexins SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/* (may take 15 minutes or more)
    8. At the DOS prompt, be sure to be in the apex directory (C:\apex) then type sqlplus /nolog
    9. At the SQL prompt, type connect SYS as SYSDBA
    10. Type the password of the user SYSTEM that you choose when installing Oracle XE.
    11. At the SQL prompt, type *@apxchpwd*
    12. Choose a password for ADMIN, type it then press Enter
    13. At the SQL prompt, type *@apxldimg* C:\ (you will perhaps obtain a message like an error but the upgrade works fine)
    14. At the SQL prompt, type *@apxxepwd* password (where password is the ADMIN password choosen at step 12)
    15. At the SQL prompt, type quit
    16. At the DOS prompt, type exit
    17. Then go to the OracleXETNSListener service and start it.
To connect as ADMIN, type the url http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex/apex_admin
    username : ADMIN
    password : your admin password
You will be able to create workspaces (schemas) and users
Now you will be able to connect to APEX at http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex
workspace : your login name (workspace created in apex_admin)
username : your login name (user created in apex_admin)
password : your password (password defined for the user in apex_admin)
I hope that this steps will be clear for all of you.
Thank you to user10570446 who have provided a clear step through. So that I'd take the time to clarified my solution to my type of configuration.
I hope that RSNAIK has been able to make the upgrade to APEX 3.1.2.
    Good day to everyone

    suresh.m2015,
It's going to be impossible for anyone in this forum to help with your issue if you don't provide any more detail about your environment and Apex installation. However, from your post it looks like the Apex database objects are missing or invalid.
Did you follow the Apex installation guide step by step? For example, did you run apexins.sql?
It's important to follow the documentation. The script you are running to change the admin user password should not be run until after the Apex installation is complete.

  • Integrating Google Maps in Oracle Apex and 404 Not found error page

Currently using APEX version 3.2.0.00.27 installed in OracleXE version 10.2.0.1.0. Have been attempting to recreate some examples of Google Maps within APEX. Found a nice set of examples here that build up to what I'm looking to ultimately do by incorporating google maps into APEX:
    http://blog.whitehorses.nl/2009/10/04/integrating-google-maps-in-oracle-apex/
Unfortunatly, I'm getting the "404 Not Found, Not found, The requested URL /apex/wwv_flow.accept was not found on this server" page when I try to recreate the "Map with Search" example. I'd like to see if this really works using the html input and button tags in the body/region source versus creating APEX items to pass the address values to the javascript in the html header of the apex page. I'm thinking it's just an html thing within APEX that you have to do it a certain way, but I haven't managed to hit that magic combination. have gone to the google maps api v2 and looked at the html they use (it's what these examples with apex are based on) and tried that just to see. Same 404 result.
I've seen suggestions at this forum and elsewhere that the 404 error is due to a bug. have been to metalink, and really haven't seen anything that spells out what the bug is and how to patch it or work around it. May be I just haven't found the right note/doc yet. have seen suggestions to change something associated with the Anonymous account that APEX uses. Have turned on authentication in the application to use an APEX user account with a logon page to the application. Still get the 404. Although, I have not adjusted anything elsewhere, like a DADS config file, because the apex/xe configuration is using the plsql gateway. Not sure of any procedure for changing settings on anonymous account when using plsql gateway.
Open to suggestions. APEX 3.2 is customer version, so going to 4 may not be an option yet. XE, on the other hand, can certainly be swapped for an 11g version standard or enterprise edition if need be. I don't think this is a db version problem though. I think it's more on the APEX side of things.
Anyway, any help or suggestions are appreciated.
    thanks

  • Apply "WHERE CONDITION" in "MASTER/DETAIL FORM" in "ORACLE APEX

Hi to all respected Gurus of this community.
I have a problem and I hope that there must be solution in this community and I am not aware of that till now.
I have a master/detail form in Oracle Application Express. Now, I want to apply a where condition in master-form to filter the data as per requirement but I cannot do so.
There is an option of "Modify Query" in "Query Definition". According to the instructions I am selecting the desired column (HR_Category) in left and providing text string 'M-9' in the right column to filter the data where HR_Category is M-9, and when I press apply changes, it gives me an error that
    "1 error has occurred
The condition you are adding has caused the query to be invalid."
Please help how to proceed to apply a where condition.

Probably a syntax error.  Check the syntax of the new clause very carefully.
Can you post the query indicating which predicate is the new one?  If you need to change the column and table names for confidentiality
