Oracle Apps EUL Scheduling Trouble

Hi All,
Here is my problem:
I can go through all of the steps of setting-up scheduling in an Oracle Apps Disco environment, but here is the result:
-No new table is created when the scheduled workbook has finished (if it has)
-No visible sign that the workbook was actually scheduled (just no exception either).
-but Packages are in the scheduling schema
-I did set-up a user to be able to schedule workbooks with the designated scheduling schema.
Here is my configuration:
OracleBI Discoverer 10g (10.1.2.3)
Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Plus 10g (10.1.2.55.26)
Discoverer Model - 10.1.2.55.26
Discoverer Server - 10.1.2.55.26
End User Layer - 5.1.1.0.0.0
End User Layer Library - 10.1.2.55.26
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
Here is what we did:
Our dba logged in as system and ran the batchusr_app.sql script.
For better or worse, the packages that were created during this script were created in the system schema and not in our designated scheduling schema.
For better or worse, I can schedule workbooks when system is chosen as the scheduled workbook schema (I tested this even though it is totally unacceptable).
To correct this problem, I just identified the portion of the batchusr_app.sql script which has the DDL and ran this with the designated scheduling schema. I also dropped the packages that were erroneously created in the wrong schema.
I made sure that the following grants were granted to the scheduling schema:
CREATE PROCEDURE
CREATE SESSION
CREATE TABLE
CREATE VIEW
EXECUTE ANY PROCEDURE
SELECT ANY TABLE
I made sure that all of the grants at the end of the batchusr_app.sql script were done and with the appropriate database user.
Any suggestions? My next step is to submit an SR.
Thanks,
Patrick

Hi Kranthi,
Thank you for your help.
Let me clarify. In the Disco Admin tool using Tools/Privileges, I did select the Scheduled Workbooks tab and I selected an ebs user/database user who will own the scheduling tables (and the other options).
In my first scenario, I did assign the System database user as the owner of the scheduling tables (this is totally bad and totally unacceptable in a non-test, non-development environment) and I am able to schedule my workbooks.
In my second scenario, I correct the set-up of my scheduling (run the batchusr_app.sql segments that were not properly run):
- Dropped the packages that were not correctly created in the scheduling schema owner.
- Made sure the scheduling schema owner had the grants required: CREATE PROCEDURE, CREATE SESSION, CREATE TABLE, CREATE VIEW, EXECUTE ANY PROCEDURE, SELECT ANY TABLE and made sure the scheduling schema owner had the SELECT privilege on the view, V_$PARAMETER
- Ran the DDL associated with creating the three scheduling packages in the correct scheduling schema database user. I removed all the bind variables and replaced them with literals (e.g. &FNDNAME with APPS).
- Logging in as the EUL owner, EUL_US, I run the portion of the script which performs the "grant select, insert, update, delete to all of the tables in the EUL schema.
We have not performed the access privileges which you have identified in your document. We are using OID to synchronize are Disco Users with Apps (our last DBA set this up and I have assumed this was configured right). Are you saying that these are required to properly schedule workbooks (we have had our user community using Disco in an EBS environment for some time now)?

  • Disco for Oracle Apps with Scheduling not in Apps ~ Throws Error ORA-06502

    Hi All,
I have had an SR with Oracle for almost 1/2 year now to set-up scheduling with the scheduling schema not being Apps. They have not been able to fix this yet.
I have used note 757831.1. When I try to set-up a schedule that is recurring, the following error is thrown: ORA-06502.
Does any one have a success story associated with setting-up scheduling in a Disco Oracle Apps end user layer where the scheduling schema is not apps?
    Thanks,

Pl do not post contents of MOS Docs publicly - this violates terms of your support contract.
We were successful in doing this with Disco 4i a long time ago. I am assuming the process is the same for 10g. Pl see if these MOS Docs can help. Pl post the complete error message.

  • Creating a NEW Oracle APPS EUL , How to get Oracle BI Objects in new brand

    Hi there
We upgraded Oracle Discoverer 4i to Discoverer 10g and during the upgrade process DBA upgrade the EUL5 in the same schema.
    Now That schema is corrupt.
I have to create a new Brand EUL for Oracle APPS Business Intelligence Views 11.5.10.2.
    What steps I can follow.
    1)     DROP the existing schema at Database.
    2)     Using Discoverer Admin login through SYSTEM Account
    3)     Create the APPS EUL
    4)     Now What to do to get the Business Intelligence APPS Views in my new APPS EUL?
Is there any process I need to run to get Business Intelligence Views.
    Thanks
    JOJI

    JOJI,
It is a "non-destructive" upgrade/migration. This is why you have the EUL4 and EUL5 objects in the schema. This allows you to migrate your users in a controlled fashion if desired as it keeps the Discoverer 4i EUL intact.
What Jose, is describing is that you can drop the EUL5 objects (via the 10g Administrator -drop the EUL or manually) and then perform the upgrade again.
If you do decide to create a new 10g (eul5) EUL, then the following MetaLink Note describes how to import the Business Intelligence Business Areas and Generate the Business Views.
Note 316463.1     Using Discoverer 10.1.2 with Oracle E-Business Suite 11i
    I hope that helps,
    Regards,
    Steve.

  • Scheduling Schema Owner in Oracle Apps EUL

    Hi All,
Here is pertinent information about my Discoverer configuration:
    OracleBI Discoverer 10g (10.1.2.2)
Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Plus 10g (10.1.2.54.25)
    Discoverer Model - 10.1.2.54.25
    Discoverer Server - 10.1.2.54.25
    End User Layer - 5.1.1.0.0.0
End User Layer Library - 10.1.2.54.25
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
I read the Disco Admin guide (B13916_04.pdf, pages 141-151) and the Oracle® Business Intelligence Tools Release Notes
10g Release 2 (10.1.2.1) (http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B16031_06/toc.htm#BABJGDBB) which indicated that I can create a separate schema for scheduling Discoverer reports instead of settling for APPS.
I ran the script batchusr_app.sql and responded to the resulting prompts as follows:
    a.     Enter Applications Foundation Name (FNDNAM): APPS
    b.     Enter the name of the Scheduled Workbook Results Schema. XX_SCHEDULING.
    c.     Enter the Batch Repository Password : password
    d.     Do you wish to alter the Default and Temporary Tablespaces for XX_SCHEDULING? Yes.
    e.     Tablespace? XX_TS_DATA
    f.     Default Tablespace ? TEMP
    g.     A Scheduled Workbook Results Schema can only have access to one EUL EUL Owner Username : EUL_US
    h.     Logged in as Scheduled Workbook Results Schema EUL5_BATCH_REP_SECURE already exists Do you wish to replace EUL5_BATCH_REP_SECURE ? Yes.
    i.     Press Enter/Return to Exit
I entered the FNDNAM, which is APPS (the dbc file validates this).
I explicitly granted the SELECT privilege on v_$parameter to the scheduled workbook results
schema name (cf page 148 of the Oracle Disco Admin User Guide, B13916_04.pdf).
**Any thoughts on why my scheduled workbooks are owned by APPS and not XX_SCHEDULING?**
    Thanks,
    Patrick

    All,
I have found the root cause of my trouble. Our dba ran the script, batchusr_apps.sql, but I was unaware of some errors that were occurring while the script was running (e.g. "Enter database connection (e.g. T:node:sid, ServiceName) [LOCAL] :" was not responded to)). This resulted in the packages being erroneously created in the schema that the dba was logged in with while he was running the script.
Thank you for trying to help Rod.

  • Oracle Apps EUL with Custom Discoverer Views

    Disco Environment:
    OracleBI Discoverer 10g (10.1.2.2)
Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Plus 10g (10.1.2.54.25)
    Discoverer Model - 10.1.2.54.25
    Discoverer Server - 10.1.2.54.25
    End User Layer - 5.1.1.0.0.0
End User Layer Library - 10.1.2.54.25
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
    Oracle Applications R12 EUL
    All,
Up until now, we have been placing our Discoverer custom views in our apps schema. From a "keeping track" perspective and from a "keep Disco views separate from apps" perspective, we are inclined to create a custom schema to place all of our custom Discoverer views. I have heard that Noetix does this as well.
To accomplish this, we were planning to provide a grant select to all tables, views and synonyms (with a limited execute rights to some packages).
The easiest thing to do is to keep on doing what we are presently doing. We have a naming schema in place that enables us to quickly identify all custom Disco views.
Can I have people whom have implemented a custom schema for their Disco views in apps let me know how this has worked for them? This type of Disco environment appears to require a lot of communication between the Disco staff and the DBA to make sure these grants are set-up correctly.
    Thanks,
    Patrick

    Hi,
All the eBS sites I have worked on have created the majority of their custom views in the APPS schema using a naming convention to separate them from the seeded views. The reason being is that the SQL in the view (including all the function calls) is run with the privileges of the owner of the view. If the view is defined in another schema, then this schema must have access to the APPS database objects which can be a lot of work to set up because it is very hard to identify the dependencies and unnecessarily opens up the security on the APPS schema.
Where the data is held in custom tables and there are views on these custom tables, then both the tables and the views are held in a separate schema.

  • Install Std. Apps EUL Disco 4i

    Hi All,
I've been trying to migrate the Std Oracle Apps EUL to discoverer... it runs for about 2 hours via MKS Toolkit - but gives the following type of errors, e.g.:
'\discover\US\amsamsppsttslflo.eex:The import process did not import or modify any data'
I ignore these as per instructions from Oracle's White Paper.... However even though the log file says:
    'Import completed successfully.'
'adupdeul is exiting with status 0'
No business areas/std EUL is created ! Anybody know why and how to get around this... appreciate any pointers given.
    Thanks
    Sandy

Okay ... maybe I'm on the right track.
Let's say you 'generated' your BIS views in Oracle Apps (whoops ... enterprise suite ... will never get that!) with the user bis_view_generator_guy ('ya ... as if) ... and they're in the database.
Well, Oracle Apps has given all the good stuff to that user: bis_view_generator_guy.
I know sysadmin is the power user in the Oracle database (and that's another issue for having sysadmin own the EUL ... but for another day), but in this case, it may well be the case that sysadmin is not allowed to see the bis views or the tables they point to (ie: no grants to sysadmin).
I realize this may sound wierd, but sysadmin is NOT the power user for Oracle Apps, just for the Oracle database.
So, it may be the case - as I don't have my BIS documentation on me - that you do not import the stuff as sysadmin, but as the bis_view_generator_guy.
This may not be exactly correct, but I still believe it's in this area.
If you have the documentation for importing the BIS .eex file, see what it says about this. I know it used to lay it out.

  • Create an load New EUL before upgrading to 11.5.10 Oracle Apps

We are scheduled to upgrade from 11.5.9 to 11.5.10 and I have 3 Discoverer EULs to upgrade for cutover. On top of that we need to create a new EUL that will not be available to the users until after the Oracle Apps upgrade. My question is, can I create the new Discoverer EUL and load the business areas, and import the upgrade EEX files before the actual upgrade of Oracle Apps. No one will have access to this EUL. Once Oracle Apps is upgraded I would refresh all the Business Areas per the usual upgrade instructions, then grant user access.
    Thanks
    Grant

Thanks for the reply. I will be using MKS Toolkit to import the eex files. My admin tool is 4.1.xxx. The main thing I was worried about was that I would not be able to regenerate the views before the import. I guessed that it would not matter as long as I did the generate views before I do the refresh. I didn't think this would be a problem but I wanted to ask.
    Again, Thanks

    Hello, all!
An EUL was previously created and the Oracle Apps users only was checked, which was supposed to be not. Business areas and folders were already created and i want to reuse all. Is there a way i can change the EUL to make it not for oracle apps users (uncheck or something). I tried exporting the eul but got an error ORA-00942 - table or view does not exist.
    Thanks in advance.

You have to integrate apps with BPEL using apps adapter and then from BPEL pass the message to Oracle B2B 11g -
    Oracle B2B 11g <---> Oracle BPEL 11g <--- Oracle Apps Adapter --> Oracle Apps
As BPEL and B2B both are part of SOA suite 11g hence there is no additional cost and performance remain better.
Preffered mode of integration would be through XML gateway.
I could see that 856 outbound EDI map is available from Oracle but not the XML gateway map. If i have to use XML gateway then how i can create the XML gateway map.You may raise your question in apps forum -

If you don't get any help there, raise a case with support.

  • Error Running Oracle Apps and Discoverer at the same time

    Hello,
We are having trouble running Oracle Apps and Discoverer at the same time on certain user's machines. Here are the specifics:
The user opens Oracle Apps in Internet Explorer. The user then opens Discoverer in another Internet Explorer windows and receives the following error: Runtime Error! Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe abnormal program termination
As a work around, I installed Firefox on those user's machines. These users run Oracle Apps in Internet Explorer and run Discoverer in FireFox. This has solved the problem in 99% of the cases. However, there is one user who is having FireFox using Discoverer freeze when running Oracle Apps in Internet Explorer.
Can anyone provide any insight on how I can solve these conflict issues so users can run Oracle Apps and Discoverer at the same time?
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Carlos

    Hi Michael,
I agree with you completely. It is reccommended to run 10g on a separate physical server unless you have sufficient resources to run on the same server (which even most large clients do not) Even then, I would recommend a separate server.
I should have put my comment in context :-)
a.) I was only stating that it was possible
    and
b.) whether 10g is installed on the same physical server or separate should not affect the client browser crashing issue that was posted.
I do have an install with EBS11i and Discoverer 10g on the same physical server and it works fine (this is sandbox/ TEST). Most of my large customers have 10g installed on multiple physical servers due to load balancing (capacity).
I do work for Oracle. I try to help out on the forum when I can, but it is hit or miss :-(
I would be glad to discuss anything privately.
As for the issue at hand, I can reproduce the problem and here is what is occuring.
I have EBS 11i configured with Jiniator 1.3.24
I have Discoverer 10g configured with Sun Java plugin 1.4.2_06
    1. If you launch EBS 11i apps and a form with MS IE, then the browser launches the form using Jiniator JRE 1.3.xx (whatever you have configured in AutoConfig for EBS11i)
    2. Next, the user navigates to EBS 11i SSWA and launches a Discoverer workbook.
What occurs is a child IEXPLORE.exe process is spawned from the parent IEXPLORE.exe process and Discoveer Plus is launched. The parent iexplore.exe process will be attached to the Jiniator JVM. Now if Discoverer is configured with
    a.) Sun Java Plugin or
b.)a version of Jinitiator that is a different version from what EBS 11i is configured with
then you may get this conflict.
It really is an MS IE/JRE conflict with Jinitiator and Sun Java Plugi and the way the broswers attaches to the JVM (IMHO) as this behaviour could be reproduced with other non-oracle java applets.
You can workaround the situation by:
    a. configure EBS11i and Discoverer to use the same version of Jiniator 1.3.xx
    b. educate the users to open one MS IE browser to connect to EBS11i and then open a second MS IE browser to login to EBS11i SSWA or Discoverer 10g Plus directly to launch workbooks. They need to to this by clicking on the icon and not using File >> New browser. Clicking on the icon will spawn a new parent iexplore.exe process that can attach to a second/different JVM. File >> New Window will spawan a child of the parent.
    c. As you did use two browser versions. MS IE for EBS11 connection and FireFox for Disocverer 10g connection.
I would choose optoin b, so that you can use Sun Java Plugin with Discoverer.
Open to any comments. I hope that helps you workaround the problem. The ideal solution is to have EBS 11i use/cerified with the 1.4 or 1.5 JRE. In poking around, I see there is a related post to this on one of Oracle's EBS 11i Product Managers Blog.

  • What is the point of commit for oracle.apps.ego.item.postAttributeChange ?

I'm using the Advanced Product Catalog APC (PIM Data Hub PDH) and have a question regarding the business event oracle.apps.ego.item.postAttributeChange
Does anyone know if this event is raised after the commit of the entire record, or is the actual attribute group row insert/update/delete commited individually?
The reason I ask is because the rule function that will be fired by this event will need to capture additional item information that could be contained in separate rows or tables and need to know if it will be available at the point in time this event is raised.
Thanks for any advice on this topic.

    @W_J_T (and MikeChambers)
“yeah you gotta be good at something rather than no good at anything, that is true. ;-)
I guess that is why I don’t understand this big push by Adobe to make their users become mediocre in many areas. Can you please elaborate on this point Mike Chambers? Why should I be bad at a lot of things rather then good at a few things? I don’t get it.
“As far as apps vs fields, the first thing many people wanna know is if you know the required software for the given task(s).”
On one hand I understand the need to have software skills on the other hand software skills without artistic talent does little good.
“Why that is I don't know, its rather odd and does not allow people the same ability to only focus on their more specialized sectors like in the past with the Creative "Suites".”
I understand the problem Adobe had with suites; all the products had to be released on the same time schedule which meant some were released way before they should have been. CC gets around that problem but Adobe hasn’t done a good job at telling why anyone needs all the apps.
“Did you just wish to have some dialog, or do you have a specific question or suggestion about things? I am kind of confused at this point sorry. ;-)”
It just seemed odd to me when I kept hearing these Adobe evangelists getting excited about the ability to use so many apps. I came here since I was hoping Adobe could explain why having apps in so many fields that you are not talented in is a good deal. So far I am still waiting for Adobe to answer that question.
“your passion seems to be solely the design aspect of things.”
Yes, it is but perhaps most importantly is the issue of time dedicated to learning a new craft. I have a good amount of design work so looking into a career change at this point doesn’t make sense for me. If I changed my career I would have to turn down design work that I currently have  coming in and that would be a little silly.

  • Required Oracle FND tables for Discoverer Install (Oracle App user)

Hi does anyone know of set documentation or, via SQL Trace, which existing tables Discoverer looks for when setting up an EUL? For instance, our install requires you select the Oracle Apps User Schema and put in the password for that schema where your FND tables reside.
Assuming some are missing in our current setup, what would be required in order for Discoverer to work in conjunction with the Oracle applications roles and responsibilities, etc.
I found this list in Discoverer documentation and confirmed I know have that setup correctly with proper grants, etc.. The EUL is created but does return an error of "Table or View does not Exist" which can be passed over and you can proceed into the EUL - but there is an error upon logging into EUL.
grant select on FND_USER to &EULOWNER
grant select on FND_APPLICATION to &EULOWNER
grant select on FND_USER_RESPONSIBILITY to &EULOWNER
grant select on FND_RESPONSIBILITY_VL to &EULOWNER
grant select on FND_ORACLE_USERID to &EULOWNER
grant select on FND_DATA_GROUP_UNITS to &EULOWNER
This is Discoverer 10g and Oracle 10g database.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Rod,
I have confirmed that the Discoverer Administrator Responsibility has Administration, Desktop & Plus privelages.
Furthermore, the account I am trying to login as - DSCADMIN has those permissions and is assigned that responsibility as well.
It should be noted that when logging into the EUL as the DSCADMIN account, it prompts me to create a new EUL as one does not exist....however under the EUL ADMIN account (where the EUL was created), it recognizes the EUL since it is the owner.
Am I missing something further - I've been through the documentation several times and can't figure this out - I have continually made progress but then hit a speed bump each time.
It should also be noted that DSCADMIN is a database user schema account and also an Apps user as well - but this is how it was setup in our old enviornment so I wouldn't think this would make a difference.

PS: I love traveling across the globe, so i would prefer a job which includes lots of traveling. I am good in Public Relation and good in communication.
    1. How is the market demand for Oracle Apps?
    2. Will Oracle Apps in Supply Chain Mangmnt will help me get a job which is more of client facing and traveling?
    3. Should I go for MBA Operations or MBA Marketing. And will 2yrs MBA help me or 1 yr will do the needful to work as a Oracle Apps Functional?
At the end i would like to end up as an Oracle Apps Functional consultant but i am not sure which stream will help me.
