Oracle apps OTL Time period LOV

Hi,
I need the time period LOV (data for example : September 30,2012 - October 06,2012) as a LOV. I need to utlilise similar LOV for my custom form. I could see an existing LOV for self servuce time responsibility for creating time card. But I don't see a valid select/code for this self service page when opened from jdev. It looks like something dynamic.
Similar LOV is also there in the apps form time keeper entry find box. I am unable to find the code associated with the LOV directly.
Anyone is aware of any such LOV for which I can get any select query or a code for the same. I am still trying to achieve the same with some research.
Regards,
Ad

Hi Pillair,
I believe he is looking for the underlying table ....
select *
from fnd_lookup_values
where lookup_type = 'MTL_TIME_FENCE'
Hope this helps.
Cheers

  • What files need to be cleaned periodically in Oracle Apps R12 ?

    Hi
In Oracle Database, periodically we clean alertlog, trace files from bdump, udump, cdump directories and at AIX OS level, /usr/tmp, /var/tmp, /root,we clean .tmp,.log files. Similarly, what files needs to cleaned from Oracle Apps R12 directories periodically to control the harddisk usage?
Any help is highly appreciated !
    Thanks

    Ateeq,
Please be careful when following the steps in the note referenced above especially when cleaning the $ORACLE_HOME/lib directory, otherwise your instance will not function properly. I believe purging the log files at the application/database tiers is fair enough to reclaim space and should be done on periodic basis.

  • OTL:Generate Timecard Tasks based on the Period selected on the Period LOV

    Hi,
I want to generate the Tasks' LOV Based on what is selected on the Period LOV. It must only list Tasks that are valid/active for the select Period LOV.
I want to integrate the "validation/condition" in the script to generate the PA_ONLINE_TASKS_V view.
    Best regards,
    Ernest

    Ernest,
OTL renders the LOV through its own rendering mechanism and is a wrapper over OAF LOV component. Hence you won't be able to treat it like a normal LOV as it gets rendered at runtime based on layout ldt file.
But you sure can have the LOV based on a previously selected item inside Timecard matrix. Considering your case, the Period list is not inside the matrix, hence your LOV cann't refer to that. But instead if you are willing to use a package choice list, you can get access to the Start date of the selected time period through bind parameter TIMECARD_BIND_START_DATE. Hence my suggestion would be to use a package choice list and use your VO in the function used for choice list.
Instead if you want to use LOV only, make a hidden package choice list where you default it to the Timecard start date through a custom function attached to it and so you
have a field with start date inside the matrix.
Let me know, how it goes.

  • Error Running Oracle Apps and Discoverer at the same time

    Hello,
We are having trouble running Oracle Apps and Discoverer at the same time on certain user's machines. Here are the specifics:
The user opens Oracle Apps in Internet Explorer. The user then opens Discoverer in another Internet Explorer windows and receives the following error: Runtime Error! Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe abnormal program termination
As a work around, I installed Firefox on those user's machines. These users run Oracle Apps in Internet Explorer and run Discoverer in FireFox. This has solved the problem in 99% of the cases. However, there is one user who is having FireFox using Discoverer freeze when running Oracle Apps in Internet Explorer.
Can anyone provide any insight on how I can solve these conflict issues so users can run Oracle Apps and Discoverer at the same time?
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Carlos

    Hi Michael,
I agree with you completely. It is reccommended to run 10g on a separate physical server unless you have sufficient resources to run on the same server (which even most large clients do not) Even then, I would recommend a separate server.
I should have put my comment in context :-)
a.) I was only stating that it was possible
    and
b.) whether 10g is installed on the same physical server or separate should not affect the client browser crashing issue that was posted.
I do have an install with EBS11i and Discoverer 10g on the same physical server and it works fine (this is sandbox/ TEST). Most of my large customers have 10g installed on multiple physical servers due to load balancing (capacity).
I do work for Oracle. I try to help out on the forum when I can, but it is hit or miss :-(
I would be glad to discuss anything privately.
As for the issue at hand, I can reproduce the problem and here is what is occuring.
I have EBS 11i configured with Jiniator 1.3.24
I have Discoverer 10g configured with Sun Java plugin 1.4.2_06
    1. If you launch EBS 11i apps and a form with MS IE, then the browser launches the form using Jiniator JRE 1.3.xx (whatever you have configured in AutoConfig for EBS11i)
    2. Next, the user navigates to EBS 11i SSWA and launches a Discoverer workbook.
What occurs is a child IEXPLORE.exe process is spawned from the parent IEXPLORE.exe process and Discoveer Plus is launched. The parent iexplore.exe process will be attached to the Jiniator JVM. Now if Discoverer is configured with
    a.) Sun Java Plugin or
b.)a version of Jinitiator that is a different version from what EBS 11i is configured with
then you may get this conflict.
It really is an MS IE/JRE conflict with Jinitiator and Sun Java Plugi and the way the broswers attaches to the JVM (IMHO) as this behaviour could be reproduced with other non-oracle java applets.
You can workaround the situation by:
    a. configure EBS11i and Discoverer to use the same version of Jiniator 1.3.xx
    b. educate the users to open one MS IE browser to connect to EBS11i and then open a second MS IE browser to login to EBS11i SSWA or Discoverer 10g Plus directly to launch workbooks. They need to to this by clicking on the icon and not using File >> New browser. Clicking on the icon will spawn a new parent iexplore.exe process that can attach to a second/different JVM. File >> New Window will spawan a child of the parent.
    c. As you did use two browser versions. MS IE for EBS11 connection and FireFox for Disocverer 10g connection.
I would choose optoin b, so that you can use Sun Java Plugin with Discoverer.
Open to any comments. I hope that helps you workaround the problem. The ideal solution is to have EBS 11i use/cerified with the 1.4 or 1.5 JRE. In poking around, I see there is a related post to this on one of Oracle's EBS 11i Product Managers Blog.

  • How to identify a One time Customer in Oracle Apps AR

    Hello,
How to identify a One time Customer In Oracle APps AR?
Is it possible to find out how many number of transactions a Customer does so that, if the number of transactions is 1, then that customer is a one time customer. or else he is not?
    Thank you
    Bob

    Hi Bob,
to my knowledge, i cannot recollect a seeded report from oracle that could meet your requirement. You can try running the Transaction Register report from your Go live date till now, so that system would generate a list of all the Invoices along with the Customer Name, then you could export this to excel and perform a sort, filter and groupby to get the desired result ....
However if you are a person with technical expertise, check the table RA_CUSTOMER_TRX_ALL this stores all the transaction related information ..... you can select TRX_NUMBER, BILL_TO_CUSTOMER_ID from this table and perform a count by customer...(I am not sure on the syntax and usage of sql functions) you can get the desired results ...
Also in future, while creating a new customer if you know well in advance that this customer is going to be an ONE TIME CUSTOMER, there you could capture that information in any unused field on the customer configuration or can enable a DFF and capture this information, so it becomes very easy to identify such customers or have a report built based on it...
I assume there is an objecive behind trying to find One time customers or customers with a single transaction history ... are you planning to disable/end date/inactivate such customers ....?
    Regards,
    Ivruksha

  • Oracle (SQL) support for Temporal / time period based data

Beyond standard SQL (DATE type etc. and <,>, LEAST, GREATEST, etc.) does Oracle offer anything to help handle time period based data? E.g. overlapping periods, joins when gaps in time periods from 2+ tables, period contiguity checks, etc. I've developed various SQL query techniques, but they're all rather cumbersome using standard SQL.
Oracle Spatial offers geo-location support - is there anything similar for temporal query support?
Any good books / docs on the subject?

Check out Workspace manager for limited out of the box temporal support.
You may also want to have a read through this series of articles about temporal database systems. They aren't Oracle specific, but may help you with your temporal system design.

  • Adding a  value to an LOV in an Oracle apps form

    Hi Guys
Im new to forms and customizations in apps as im sure will be apparent with the questions i have :-)I have a requirement to add a value to an LOV on a field in an oracle apps form.
    My question is
1: How do i get the lov query?
2: How do i edit an existing query.
3: How can i solve this problem.
    Thanks

Since you are working with the E-Business Suite, most likely the LOV is based on a Value Set. I strongly recommend you confer with a coworker for guidance on how to investigate an Oracle EBS Form. Value Sets are defined within the EBS setup screens and you have to be assigned to a responsibility that will allow you to modify and create Value Sets. I also strongly recommend you visit the Oracle Applications Documentation web site and review the Oracle Applications Developer's Guide and Oracle Applications User Interface Standards for Forms-Based Products for your particular version of the EBS.
Also, the General EBS Discussion is the more appropriate forum to post this type of question.
    Hope this helps.

  • Adding a LOV by Extension to oracle.apps.icx.por.req.webui.ShoppingCartPG

    Hi,
I have extended the the ShoppingCartVO to add additional attributes and can displayed these attributes via personalization. I tried adding a standard LOV by personlization withe external Lov = /oracle/apps/icx/lov/server/SupplierAndSiteLovVO. This results in an error when applying as at runtime it looks for /oracle/apps/icx/por/req/webui/oracle/apps/icx/lov/server/SupplierAndSiteLovVO.
I'm not sure if I need to create a custom LovVO and if so what bc4j package should I create it in so it is accesible on this shopppong cart page.
I know this is a bit complicated to understand but I would appreciate some help.

    In extended controller processRequest method:
Get the project ID, asssuming that you are passing project id through hash map.
    String prjId = pageContext.getParameter("ProectId_Parameter");
Default the LOV item value using:
    OAMessageLovInputBean msglov = (OAMessageLovInputBean)webBean.findChildRecursive("ProjectId");
    if(msglov != null)
    msglov.setText(pageContext,"Hello");

  • How to Customize OTL Time sheet

    Hi,
Can anybody suggest how to customize the OTL Timesheet.
We need to add extra LOV field in the timesheet.
    Krishna

    Hi,
U can add lov for standard page in various methods ,but the best approach is customization.
---In Time sheet page create one stacklayoutRN via personalization.
---Then come to jdev right clik on jpr create new region in that region create lovitem.

  • Career in Oracle Apps ? Please Help

    Hello Everyone
There is a question which is troubling me a lot, I will be very happy if I can get any valuable feedback on it.
Let me describe my self, I am a software Engg with a work exp of 3.5 yrs in PL/SQL (Banking Domain) and currently I have switched a new company where I am learning and working on Oracle Apps (Finance: AP, PO). I am planning for my MBA next year from top 10 institute in India. Now here are my questions:
PS: I love traveling across the globe, so i would prefer a job which includes lots of traveling. I am good in Public Relation and good in communication.
    1. How is the market demand for Oracle Apps?
    2. Will Oracle Apps in Supply Chain Mangmnt will help me get a job which is more of client facing and traveling?
    3. Should I go for MBA Operations or MBA Marketing. And will 2yrs MBA help me or 1 yr will do the needful to work as a Oracle Apps Functional?
At the end i would like to end up as an Oracle Apps Functional consultant but i am not sure which stream will help me.
    Thanks
    Rohan

  • Period LOV in GL journal entry from r12

I am trying to do some customization for the period LOV in GL journal entry form.
In found the below SQL from the record group of the LOV:
      SELECT period_name,
             start_date,
             end_date,
             period_num,
             period_year
        FROM gl_periods
       WHERE period_set_name = :PARAMETER.period_set_name
         AND period_type = :PARAMETER.accounted_period_type
ORDER BY period_year DESC, period_num DESC
Since, I don't know how to get the values for :PARAMETER.period_set_name and :PARAMETER.accounted_period_type ....I ran the SQL
    select * from gl_periods where period_name = 'APR-15'
in toad to find values for period_set_name and values and period_type and then ran the main SQL in toad but it returned lot of records ~500.
But, in the application PERIOD LOV just displays open periods.  I am wondering if you can tell me how it works.
I checked to form to make sure there is no existing personalization for PERIOD LOV.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I am pasting my comments next to yours :
These are the issues that needs to be resolved:
    • Depreciated balance are over stated in Fixed Assets and needs to be adjusted to reflect what is in GL. => I wasn't sure how this was was possible, since I  assumed that your Asset depreciation journals in GL were being fed from FA. So if depreciation was thought to be incorrect in FA, its corresponding balance in GL should've been incorrect as well. But I guess that's not the case because your other questions imply that some of these assets were acquired and their might have been some conversion activity involved.
    • Fixed Assets mass additions are selecting GL accounts that should not be selected. We need to know how to change the criteria for selection. +=> Check the Asset Clearing and CIP clearing accounts on your asset categories+
    Later:
    • We need to learn the proper way to convert assets we acquired from acquisition into our Oracle Fixed Assets system, so that depreciation start at the time we acquire the assets. => That is correct, you could change your original date placed in service to the acquisition date as part of conversion and if you have the correct prorate convention, they should depreciate the way you want it to.
