Oracle Article ID

Hi,
Can anyone give me the oracle article ID in which it is mentioned as that if we write fast formula for validating hours in element and give any message then it will give message in log file while running 'validate for BEE' or ' Transfer to BEE' process.
Thanks.

The Fiscal calendar does not use the W_DAY D..there is a separate set of W_MCAL tables for the Fiscal calendars. Go to these tables and see if the CURRENT_QUARTER is set properly and this this table is also extended to 2030. Normally you have to change the default DAC parameters for the Fiscal Time tasks to be also at 2030. You can confirm what variable is being used by looking at the Session logs for the Fiscal Time ETLs..see if they are showing 2030 as well.

  • Errors in PHP/Oracle article

    Hi,
    There are a few errors in the article dealing with PHP/Oracle located at http://otn.oracle.com/oramag/webcolumns/2003/techarticles/hull_php.html
    In the listing for the section called "How to use a database":
    - $mycursor ora_open ($conn);
    should be
    $mycursor = ora_open ($conn);
    - echo "RESULT: ora_getcolumn ($mycursor, 0), ora_getcolumn ($mycursor, 1) <br>";
    The above is not the way it works in PHP and you won't get the expected results. You can throw variables in between your double-quote delimited strings, but not function calls. You'll have to concatenate the function calls like this:
    echo "RESULT: ".ora_getcolumn ($mycursor, 0).", ".ora_getcolumn ($mycursor, 1)."<br>";

    Leendert:
    Thanks for the comments. The first one is an obvious typo. The second
    is a pretty obvious mistake which I missed while reviewing this. Although
    PHP will expand variables in a string like that, it will not handle
    function calls. How could it. I just tried it, and concatenation works
    just as you suggest. Thanks for the corrections, and we updated the
    article.

    Active dataguard is option after configuring dataguard.
    You can put standby database in Open(read only) mode also you can enable Recover(MRP) while open so this can be used for reporting purpose too.
    Please refer below links for configuring them.

  • DB Link from Oracle to SQL Server error

    Dear buddies,

    I followed the steps given in :

    I could perform a TNS ping which is successful but only when I perform a select I receive this error.

  • Oracle insert problem(records not in the order they are inserted)

    hi, all:
    I tried to insert a word list into a oracle table, everything is fine except that the words are not in the order they are inserted. For example, the words are inserted in the following sequence:
    accreted
    accreting
    accretion
    accretionary
    accretive
    bladebone
    bladed
    bladeless
    bladelike
    When I retrived the resultset from the table and iterate through each of the record, the words are not in the order inserted, i.e., it may look like this,
    accreted
    accreting
    bladebone
    bladed
    accretion
    accretionary
    accretive
    bladeless
    bladelike
    This strange phenomenon won't happen when the word list is small, like 500 words or so, but when the number of words reaches around 10,000, it takes place. My coworker also experienced this problem when trying to insert large volume of data into oracle table.
    The code I used to insert into the DB table:
    BufferedReader reader=new BufferedReader(new FileReader("C:\\Dictionary.txt"));
    while( (line=reader.readLine())!=null )
         sql="INSERT INTO DICT " +
         "VALUES ('" + line +"')";
         statement.executeUpdate(sql);
    Any advice will be highly appreciated,
    thanks

    Well, the best thing to do is follows scsi-boy's advice and add the additional column and either put a sequence number in it from the Java side as you insert, or use an Oracle sequence object to put a sequence number in it from the Oracle side (which is sort of like an auto-generated value, but different).
    Note that an Oracle sequence generates numbers in sequence, but possibly with gaps (usually if the database is rebooted), unless you do some things that slow sequences down substantially. Sequences can also be something of a bottleneck on RAC clusters. See:
    http://www.dizwell.com/oracle/articles/autonumbering.html
    However, if your coworker is commiting after each and every insert (which is bad form and slows the database down, -10 points), and if your coworker is also never ever ever updating the columns after they've been inserted, and if your coworker is using Oracle 10g and not some older version such as 9i, then your coworker could use the ORA_ROWSCN pseudo-column to order by. Those are very very severe constraints and you shouldn't begin to consider doing it that way without a very good reason, and right now you and your coworker wouldn't know a good reason if it snuck up and bit you on the butt, you've got a lot of learning the basics first.

  • Accessing SQL Server from Oracle

    I found an article:
    http:www.databasejournal.com/features/oracle/article.php/3442661
    It shows how to setup a connection from Oracle to SQL Server.
    I am new to Oracle Using SQL Loader and PL/SQL.
    I would like to use the SQL Loader in Oracle to load a table in SQL Server. It is my understanding that a ctl file is used and is called by an Oracle application.
    I would not have an Oracle application. I would like to use the ctl file to load the SQL Server table. Can someone point me on how to use the ctl file for SQL Server?
    Also, in PL/SQL would there be a connection string to connect to SQL Server when accessing a table.
    Is there a book or some documentation that would address the above?
    Thanks in Advance.

    that article shows you how to access SQL Server database through Oracle, therefore you have no need to use SQL Loader to load data from SQL Server bcos it can be queried directly by using simple select statement.
    If you want to load the data into Oracle just use CREATE TABLE ... AS SELECT ...
    in PL/SQL, what you need is the database link.
    Cheers,

    5.Nested tables
    6.Global temporary tables
    7.Object tables
