Oracle AS 10.1.3 - OEMS JMS Database Provider

Hi,
Can anyone confirm that the integration between AQ and JMS in Oracle AS 10.1.3 is two-way?
In other words:
1) If I publish a message on a JMS topic/queue backed by Oracle AQ, the message is persisted in the database.
2) If I publish a message on an AQ topic/queue (via e.g. a PL/SQL trigger) this message is published to all subscribers (eg an MDB) of the accompanying JMS topic/queue.
If so (if the integration between AQ and JMS is two-way), is it sufficient to deploy/configure only one instance of the OEMS JMS Database Message Service Provider in the Oracle AS 10.1.3 EM to achieve this two-way integration?
Thanks,
Ronald

To give a little more background, we're using publish/subscribe to decouple integration between processes in a SOA (and EDA) environment. We'd like to implement publish/subscribe via JMS topics, a.o. since this is a (Java) standard.
I can't imagine that AQ and JMS cannot be connected both ways. We only run into technical problems (when not :-) when trying to use/configure JMS adapters in ESB and BPEL which are backed by AQ on which messages are enqueued.

Ronald

Anyone knows how to create OEMS JMS In-Memory and File-Based Persistence? Any help it is appreciated. Hi Mario
This is explained in the soa developer's guide. Chapter 43 "Enterprise message source"should help you. You will find how to connect OEMS or JMS in-memory/file based to your BAM data objects with or without xpath transformation.
You can find sample of advanced XML formating in the 10g tech note: "Oracle BAM 10.1.3 configuration for BPEL 10.1.2 using JMS sensors" (useful even if you don't plan to use BPEL).
Anyway, if you plan to use BPEL, forget JMS and use the BAM adapter (chapter 42), it's quicker & easier.

  • How to registor database provider in oracleAS portal

    hi,
problem occur when i register a database provider into oracleAS portal.i create database provider by using locally built provider in oracleAS portal.
i Register the name of the schema containing the provider implementation and don't no package that implements its functionality.
so i want to create a package please write a code if possible or any documentation related to my problem.

    Thanks bgrinvalds.
I really start off with an empty BPEL process and check the box says "Create Instance" in the receive activity.
But after I deploy the polling service, it didn't take effect (Once you deploy these processes they will begin polling the table you defined.).
Now, I can insert data into the table through Database Adapter.
But still can't select data from the table through Database Adapter (Above error still happen when invoke the read database table with Database Adapter project).
And I find some examples in this directory: %SOA_HOME%\bpel\samples\tutorials\122.DBAdapter. But after I import these project into JDeveloper, I still can't see the configuration of the Database Adapter in Adapter Configuration Wizard. It's a pity!

  • How can I get oracle 9.2.0.7 Enterprise edition Database for Solaris?

    Hi, everybody,
Reccently got involved in a project that require to setup Oracle 9.2.0.7 Enterprise edition Database for Solaris. However from oracle's download page, the only sun platform version for 9i is 9.2.0.1. so to get to 9.2.0.7, do i need to download upgrade patch somewhere? Did anyone go through similar setup before and could you share with me your advice?
    thanks in advance!
    -liang

Oracle produces media distribution for major releases only, not for patched versions (there has been only a few exceptions). A major release can be determined out from the first three digits, 9.2.0.
Available versions at otn and edelivery are just major versions, the requiered version 9.2.0.X.X is avalable only through patchsets.
By the way only a patchset changes the last two digits, if you require a specific individual patch it doesn't change these last two digits and a specific installation procedure is provided.
Last available patchset for 9iRel2 is 9.2.0.8.0

  • Oracle 10g Personal edition as a Client Database

Hi, Our enterprise application runs as in both Online and offline mode. For offline mode it uses Microsoft accesss as Data Store. Now we want to use Oracle 10g Personal Edition as Our client database, so that we can use stored procedure and have code base for both server and client. Oracle XE can not be used because Oracle XE is not supported by Oracle.
Please suggest what is the best way to deploy Oracle PE to get smallest footprint and best performance. It is alright to use PE as client DB or it is too much for offline application.
Any suggested customizations or Alternatives. We have rules out Oracle Database lite because it doesn't support Pl/ SQL SP. Thanks.

Note that Personal Edition is actually designed for Developers. It includes all options to the Enterprise Edition (except RAC) but is limited by license agreement to being used by one named person. You can not legally provide data from Personal Edition through direct connection electronically (eg: a web or app server) to several people. You also can not say "John is using it now, and when he is off, Fred will use it."
The best and smallest footprinit is XE, but (as you say) you can not purchasse support from Oracle. Next is Standard Edition 1, with a Standard Edition software install (SE and SE1 are the same s/w) and a custom-created DB.

When i searched on internet about how to do it, i found a document on oracle's site which has instructions (in the HOW-TO section) related to integration with OC4J (and not Oracle 10g)
I have been successfully able to integrate OC4J developer preview edition 10.1.3 with TIBCO enterprise for JMS.
when i tried with the same instructions to integrate oracle 10g with TIBCO Enterprise for JMS, i could not succeed. The i understood that the standalone OC4J is different from the embedded OC4J in Oracle 10g

  • Small correction in oracle 9i Rel.2 docs, under manually database creation

    Friends,
There is a small correction in the oracle 9i Rel.2 documentation under, creating database manually. The mistake is that they define temptablespace file as DATAFILE, where as, it suppose to be, TEMPFILE. If any one uses this script from docs. to create database manually, it will throw an error.
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96521/create.htm#1003614
Using TEMPFILE inplace of DATAFILE would solve the problem.

    Hi Nyanga,
The migration tools can be used to migrate to Oracle 9i.
But we try and keep the conversion compatible with Oracle XE / Oracle 10g and up.
So you may have issues migrating to Oracle 9i like you said, with he sqlserver_utilities package and using 10g syntax.
Creating the repository on Oracle 9i is not supported.
But even if you did succeed , it would not change how the conversion was done. You would still end up with an identical sqlserver_utilities package which was generated using the migration repository on an Oracle 10g database. sqlserver_utilities package definition itself is fixed within a file so regardless of the repository used the same one will be generated.
Oracle XE can be used of course as the repository and its free to download and use.

    Dermot.

  • Oracle on Linux - prevent root from viewing database information

Thanks to the cloud, we have a new wrinkle in our security. We use a cloud-hosting service to host our infrastructure, and this provider also performs management of our hosts (package updates, network configuration, etc). Oracle runs on RHEL6, and our cloud-hosting provider necessarily has root access to the server to perform management of the host. As root they can su to the oracle user and from there get in using "sqlplus / as sysdba". Is there any way to prevent them from gaining access to the database?

    Hi,
    is it possible ?
Oracle Database Vault Security Guidelines :
Logging in as any user, including the user who owns the Oracle Database installation
Oracle Database Vault does not provide protection against the operating system root access. Ensure that you grant root user privileges only to the appropriate people with the appropriate responsibility.

  • Doubt on using DB as JMS resource provider

    Hi
I am trying to use Oracle DB as JMS resource provider. I am trying to create required tables like following.
    connect as sysdba/pwd
CREATE USER TUSER IDENTIFIED BY tiger
    GRANT CONNECT, RESOURCE,AQ_ADMINISTRATOR_ROLE TO TUSER
GRANT EXECUTE ON SYS.DBMS_AQ TO TUSER // Hanging
In line 3 it never completes. Looks like some lock is there on that table, But I am not able to understand what lock.
Can anybody explain me what could be wrong. (I am not DBA. Just trying to learn JMS using DB as resource provider. I am using the DB which comes with Infra)
    Thanks
    Ratheesh

Which database version is this? The hang is likely caused by a lock held on the dbms_aq package. For example, when a session is blocked inside dbms_aq package wating for messages to be delivered, it is not possble to grant/revoke execute permissions on that package to a different db user.
You could try bouncing the db to see if you still see the hang.
    Hope this helps,
    -Frances

  • How to access tables/views of an external database provider..

After much trouble I finally managed to setup a second Database Provider that doesn't display the "0 out of 0 connections are good" error by filling in the "Configuration Class" field with "intradoc.server.DbProviderConfig".
But now the problem is actually accessing the tables/views in my newly configured external database provider...
In the Configuration Manager applet when I try to add a new Table or View it only lists the tables contained in the schema of the SystemDatabase database provider (the original one), I've tried running Queries via components trying stuff like SELECT * FROM provider_name.table_name and other similar but obviously it doesn't work...
So... with that said, I just want to know how I access tables or views in my "supposedly" well conected (15 out of 15 connections are good, no errors on the Test Query) Oracle external Database Provider - After searching I was unable to find any information regading any post-provider-setup actions in the Content Server documentation - Does anyone know how to do this?
On a side note, if the database is SQLServer instead of Oracle, with the same configuration and apparently no errors on the database side (other clients access it well) the Query Test of the new database provider returns the following error:
"The provider 'TestSqlSrv' is in error. Unable to create database connection for JDBC:ODBC:SqlSrv. Unable to create result set for query 'select * from dummy'. Invalid Fetch Size Unable to create result set for query 'select * from dummy'. Invalid Fetch Size java.sql.SQLException: Invalid Fetch Size".But I won't even go there yet.... for now I would settle with just knowing how to reference information in the Oracle external database provider...

  • JMS Foreign Provider using XAConnectionFactory for Container Managed Trans

Hello, we've been running some proof of concepts using Weblogic 10.3 with a JMS Foreign Provider attached to MQSeries 7.
We created a very simple MDB to read a message and output it's content.
We created a bindings file with a Connection Factory (without XA)
The question I have is that when I set the Transaction Management to Container and Transaction Attribute to "Required" , does Weblogic automatically look for a XAQueueConnectionFactory? We get the error below:
[EJB:011013]The Message-Driven EJB attempted to connect to the JMS connection factory with the JNDI name: OP_CF. However, the object with the JNDI name: OP_CF is not a JMS connection factory. NestedException Message is :com.ibm.mq.jms.MQQueueConnectionFactory cannot be cast to javax.jms.XAConnectionFactory>
When we set the transacation to Bean Managed or we set to Container Managed but set the attribute to "NotSupported" it works fine.
My goal is to have a MDB that has Container Managed Transactions and "Requires" Attribute, but only particpates in a local transaction and does not need the overhead of XA. It will read from a Foreign MQ manager Queue, process and then write back to the same Foreign MQ manager(different queue), so only one resource (MQ) is used.
If we set the above settings, it seems that a XAConnectionFactory is required. Is that true?

-- If you do not enable the container transaction, then the MDB connection factory does not need to be an XA connection factory.
-- If the application is performing messaging operations, and wants to use locally managed transactions, then you have a variety of options. These are all standard JMS:
    * Use an XA connection and XA session. Begin JTA transactions before performing JMS operations, and call commit or rollback on the JTA transaction after performing the JMS operations. For foreign vendors, you must take extra steps to ensure that the vendor enlists with the WebLogic transaction -- typically by using WebLogic resource reference wrappers.
    * Use the standard JMS API "transacted session" on a non-XA session -- the transaction will be local to the session (this is extremely similar to JDBC local transactions).
    * Use a non-transacted session. Sends will occur immediately. Receive messages will be acknowledged immediately for auto-ack sessions, or will not for non-ack.
-- Note that if a transaction only includes a single operation, there's no need for XA or non-transacted sessions.
-- For more information on transactions and integration, I highly recommend reading our [ Integrating Remote JMS Providers | http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/web.1111/e13727/interop.htm#JMSPG553 ] FAQ. I also very highly recommend purchasing a copy of [ Professional Oracle WebLogic Server | http://www.amazon.com/Professional-Oracle-WebLogic-Server-Patrick/dp/0470484306/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1252088885&sr=8-1 ], and of course reviewing our [ JMS Information Roadmap | http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/web.1111/e14529/messaging.htm#sthref23 ].
-- Finally, you may also want to consider replacing some MQ usage with WebLogic JMS. WL JMS is a heavily adopted messaging vendor, and for obvious reasons, tends to integrate especially well with the WebLogic app server.
    Hope this helps,
