Oracle BI Action Links

Hi all,
I integrated Oracle BI with Siebel.
It works fine, if I log in with a user and I navigate to my dashboards, the system manages to log me in.
There is only 1 problem that remains.
I want to add action links to my reports, the only problem is that I do not get the option 'action link' in the interaction menu.
Did I forget to configure something? Or is there another problem?
Can someone help me out?
Thanks a lot!

The option only available when you are in the integrated environment. You have to make sure, that you start the integrated environment with the same host name in the url that is entered in the Symbolic URL administration.

  • Oracle BI EE 11g – Action Framework - Invoke a Java Method from Action links

    Hello All,
I have a requirement to save OBIEE 11g report into shared drive. I have created a EJB by using the below link and successfully deployed the application in server(bi_server1) .
    http://www.rittmanmead.com/2010/09/oracle-bi-ee-11g-action-framework-java-ejbs-and-pdf-watermarks/
When Im trying to call Invoke a Java method, it is showing "No Content" . Can anybody please share with me the sample "ActionFrameworkConfig.xml" file used for Invoke a Java method.
My OBIEE version is : 11.1.1.7.131017
    Thanks.

    1. check your t3 port no, in my case it's 7001.
    so i changed "<jndi-url>t3://localhost:9704</jndi-url>" to "<jndi-url>t3://localhost:7001</jndi-url>"
    2. if you run obiee 11.1.1.6.0 above, you don't need below.
    <credentialmap>oracle.bi.actions</credentialmap>
    so please drop this line.
    3. restart your server and check there's no error log when loading ActionFrameworkConfig.xml.
    Good Luck !!!

    Hi Ram,
Here are a couple URLs with examples on those types of actions.

  • Action Links - Browser Script

    Hi All,
This has been a long process. I just wanted to use Action Links to open an external webpage based on a URL field that is stored in our data warehouse. The problem (based on my findings) is that external webpages can only be launched from OBIEE with a fixed part of the URL and then a query string section that follows the ? symbol. This is great if you are looking to launch a url with a query string (ie. google, cnn, etc.) but it doesn't help you if your url has no question mark.
My first solution was to build a redirect asp page. I would point the URL to this asp page with the real URL positioned after the question mark. The asp page would strip out the query string from the end of the url and then launch that webpage. This works great but it relies on an asp page being stored somewhere on a server (by IT). I would rather take advantage of the out of the box action link functionality using OBIEE solely. So I started looking at browser scripts. I am so close but can't get the last bit to work.
I have a function that looks like this:
    USERSCRIPT.Show_URL = function popitup(url){
    var url = c
    alert(url);
My only issue is that this shows a comma at the beginning of the c variable. The c variable comes from the USERSCRIPT.parameter function sample that is in the USERSCRIPT.js file. Any ideas why there is a comma before my url? I tried using the replace function to get rid of it but it keeps erroring out saying 'Object doesn't support this property or method'.
    Much Appreciated,
    Mike

I finally got this to work on my own with a bit of work.
I borrowed some of the code for the displayparameters ootb function in the USERSRIPTS.js file but changed the variable that they have in the alert function from c to a. I then swapped out the alert function for the window.open function. This code now opens the url in my cell regardless of whether or not there is a ? in the url which in my case, there was not. I have set the parameter 1 to be the column value of the URL field.
    USERSCRIPT.Launch_URL=function(b){var c="";for(args in b){var d=args;var a=b[d];c+=""+d+""+a;c+="\n"};window.open(a,'name')};
    USERSCRIPT.Launch_URL.publish={parameters : []};
Perhaps this will save someone else some time.
    Mike
PS Oracle could have save me a lot of work by just allowing variables to be passed into web page url's without the requirement of a question mark. Easy nice enhancement they should incorporate into next release.

  • Hiding a report based on Action Link on report column values in OBIEE 11g

    Hi All,
I have two Daashboard pages. In Page1, I have Report1.
In  Page2, I have Report 2  and Report 3  in different sections.
My requirement is, to create Action Link on two columns in Report1. Column1 should be navigated to Report2  in Dashboard Page2 and Column2 should be navigated to Report3 in the same Dashboard Page.
Is it possible to use variables to hide Report2 when we click on Column1 and Report3 when we click on Column2.
If yes, how to achieve this requirement?
    Please help me out.
    Thanks in Advance.

Please see the following thread - I just implemented exactly what you are looking for. The bad thing is that it does require adding an additional column to all of your reports.

  • Setting up CSS on the network for Virtual IP for Action Links

    Hi,
I want to configure the Action Links on 10g, i had done all the steps and my Row_id is also linked, but it does not do anything. I am not able to under the settting up CSS on the network as mentioned by Oracle
To create a virtual IP address for Siebel Web Engine and Oracle BI Presentation Services
*1.On the network, set up CSS to direct requests from <virtual domain> to <physical Siebel Web Server Extension machine>:*
*◦Where the acronym CSS represents the load-balancer or router used to do the virtual IP configuration.*
*◦Where <virtual domain> is the virtual IP prefix that users enter to navigate to the Siebel applications (in the preceding example, this is http://siebel.company.com).*
*2.On the network, set up CSS to direct requests from <virtual domain>:84 to <physical Oracle BI Presentation Services machine>:84.*
*3.In the Siebel application, using the Siebel Administration screen, set the NQHost parameters for Oracle Business Intelligence Symbolic URLs to point to the <virtual domain>:84, instead of directly to the Oracle Business Intelligence Presentation Services server physical machine.*
has anybody done this. If yes please let me know the steps, what is *"On the network set up CSS"* means an. Where do i do this. My staging in running Apache Web server.
Also has anybody implemented Action Links on 10g, if yes what is the setps.
Thanks for the help in Advance.

our previous mail program (Turnpike) allowed us to have
further addresses by using mailboxes within the program.
I don't know what Turnpike is, but what you're saying here doesn't make sense.
I had hoped that when either one of us logged on to
get mail, then we would download only those messages
specifically addressed to the e-mail addresses that I
    had entered in Mail Preferances|Accounts.
When Mail (or any other mail POP client) logs into your mail account on the server, it doesn't care at all what your email address is. The only thing that matters is the username and password required to log into the account. Once logged in, all the newly arrived messages there are downloaded.
I have no idea what to put after 'Move Message to
Mailbox:' because the 2 Mailboxes are on the MacBook.
Should I put the MacBook's name? Its IP address? Is
this possible at all in Mail?
You cannot move mail to mailboxes not stored within your home folder in Mail, neither with a rule nor manually. You may be able to overcome this limitation with a different mail client.

  • How to pass values of the prompt through Action Link - URL in 11g

    Hi All,
    I am in OBIEE 11g v6.
Let's say, I have two dashbaord pages P1 and P2.
    P1 page contains
    1. Prompt PR1 - containing a single column EmpName
    2. Report R1
    P2 page contains
    1. Prompt PR2 - containing a single column EmpName (same column as in PR1)
    2. Report R2
    Requirement :
Let's say a user select a value = David from the EmpName column in prompt PR1. In the Report R1, on one the measure columns 'Sales', I am using an action link - Navigate to URL ( I can't use Navigate to BI Content for some reasons). In the URL, I am giving the URL to page P2. Can I pass the selected value (which is David) to the EmpName column of the Prompt PR2 of Page P2 so that Report R2 is automatically limited by David when I land on that page through the URL?
Few things to consider are, I can't use EmpName column in my report R1 on page P1, I just want to pass the value of a common column from one prompt on Page1 to another prompt on Page2. Is that possible. Can anybody please help?
    Thanks,
    Ronny

Hmm can you give a try one more time with
Add EmpName name and hide it on report R1 on page P1
and set EmpName as Is Prompted on report R2 on page P2 and with my earlier steps should work.
Other option is read this doc once that helps you how to pass value thru url.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21043_01/bi.1111/e16364/apiwebintegrate.htm#z1005224
You need to have a EmpName as Is Prompted on report R2 on page P2

  • Content action links like Edit, Delete...just disappear

I am facing this unique issue for which I dont seem to find any helpful material.
We are running Oracle® Application Server Portal 10g (9.0.4.1) on Linux.
On several occasions and now a days often scenario, the pagegroups page of the Portal Navigator, which displays the action links like Edit, Delete, Export, View...etc just disappears and gives me or any content user no means to perform any action on the page groups or pages. This happens even when logged in as ORCLADMIN.
Attimes the links work/come back if the cache is cleared but this is not always true.
Do help me as this on an overall basis doesnt help maintain this website or its content and seems entirely a wasteful portal option, which I hate to admit at this point.
    Thanks, any help appreciated.

Do you have one or multiple midtier instances in your environment? I have seen this problem with a multiple machine environment where the Web Cache Invalidation port causes problems on the instances when pages get cached. I ask because you mentioned clearing your cache sometimes helps.

  • CRM on Demand Reporting; Action Links in Pivot Tables

    Hi All
I have a problem with Action Links for Oracle CRM on Demand. When I click on an action link to navigate to an account detail page, I get the following error:
The record you are trying to access has been deleted or has been assigned a new owner and you no longer have access to it. If you deleted the record, it may be accessed in Deleted Items. If you continue to have problems contact your Oracle CRM On Demand Administrator.
Browsing the forums brought up this thread: Can't access a record with an ActionLink
In this thread it's said to place the Account ID column right next to the Account Name column. This solution works for regular tables, but not for pivot tables.
Is it possible to link to an account detail page from pivot links?

For pivot tables you will have to use this method in order to be able to drill down to the detail page:
    On you Report-
Define Criteria: Add the Account ID (Record ID field is a must)
    - Click on the Properties icon on this column--> Data Format Tab --> uncheck Override Default Data Format and select Plain Text from the Treat Text as drop down.
Add the below code in the text area.
    "http://"@[html]"<a target=_top
    href=https://*secure-ausomxXXX*.crmondemand.com/OnDemand/user/AccountDetail?OMTGT=AccountDetailForm&OMTHD=AccountDetailNav&AccountDetailForm.Id="@">View Account</a>"
Add this column on the Rows section of the pivot table.
    Hope this helps!

  • Creating an Opaque view for generating the Action Link URL in OBIEE EBS int

Do we have to Creating an Opaque view for generating the Action Link URL in OBIEE Oracle E-Business Suite integration if we are not using BI Applications(DAC). We built our Repository on Materialized views we were using with Discoverer so I'm not sure if we have to do the part that creates an Opaque view in our integration of EBS 11i with OBIEE.

    Hi Leo,
This is an example from an standard Oracle repository:
    select header_id , line_id, fnd_run_function.get_run_function_url(
    CAST(fnd_function.get_function_id('ISC_ORDINF_DETAILS_PMV') AS NUMBER),
    CAST( 'VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.RESP_APPL_ID)' AS NUMBER),
    CAST( 'VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.RESP_ID)' AS NUMBER),
    CAST( 'VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.SEC_GROUP_ID)' AS NUMBER),
    'HeaderId=' || header_id ||'&pFunctionName=ISC_ORDINF_DETAILS_PMV&pMode=NO&pageFunctionName=ISC_ORDINF_DETAILS_PMV',

  • Use of action links in combination with hierarchy object in analysis

    Hi All,
From OBI 11g release hierarchy objects are available in the presentation layer of OBI. We make often use of these hierarchy objects. We also make use of action links to drill down to a analysis with more detailed information. This more detailed analysis should inherit the values of the higher-level analysis. In combination with the hierarchy objects this can give problems.
    An example:
Let's say we have the following atttributes:
Hierarchy object date (year, quarter, month), a product column and # of units shipped measure. On the column # of units shipped we have defined an action link to a more detailed analysis.
Now, let's say the user clicks on the year 2011 in the hierarchy object. The quarters for 2011 are shown. The 'normal' product column attributes contains 'Product A'. The user makes use of the action link that is available by clicking on the measure value of # of units shipped. He clicks on the value that is based on quarter 2 of 2011 and 'Product A'. The detailed analysis is set to filter the analysis on the product and date dimension. In this example the analysis is filtered on 'Product A' but not on the value Quarter 2, 2011. Hierarchy object values are not passed through on clicking on a action link.
Is there any workaround for this issue? We want to make use of the hierarchy object but users expect to also pass the hierarchy object value to the underlying detailed analysis

I am facing the same issue...
    First check it out:
    http://prasadmadhasi.com/2011/12/15/hierarchicalnavigationinobiee11g/
    http://www.rittmanmead.com/2010/10/oracle-bi-ee-11g-navigation-passing-parameters-using-hierarchical-columns/
I solved it by using Go URL link. I pass value of hierarchy level (whichever level it is). For Year it is 2012, month: 2012-03.
Now ugly part: in url I pass 2 parameters that refers to the same value : "Time"."Year"="2012", "Time"."Month"="2012"
In target report I apply filter: "Time"."Year" "Is Prompted" OR "Time"."Month" "Is Prompted"
This way in target report only one of filters will work : depending from which level you navigated from source report.
If you decide use this approach be carefoul with URL syntax, remember about double quotes etc. In my case it was:
    Parameter : value
    PortalGo : [LEAVE EMPTY]
    path : %2Fusers%2Fweblogic%2FMIS%20EVAL%2FT_Target
    options : dr
    Action : Navigate
    col1 : "Time"."Year"
val1 : [SELECT TIME HIERARCHY COLUMN]
    col2 : "Time"."Month"
val2 : [SELECT TIME HIERARCHY COLUMN]
    Remember to:
    Remove “=” after PortalGo
Surround value attribute with double quotes - e.g. @val1=”@{6}”
After you "adjust" your URL text manually (unfortunatelly it won't be done automatically) it should look like:
    http://10.10.10.100:7001/analytics/saw.dll?PortalGo@{1}&path=@{2}&options=@{3}&Action=@{4}&col1=@{5}&val1=”@{6}”&col2=@{7}&val2=”@{8}”

    Hi Stefan,
I guess R12 are the Forms and the OAF are the HTML-screens within Oracle eBS.
I am afraid that it is a little bit more complicated then you are stating. As far as I know there is no documentation on how Oracle constructs the URL back to Oracle eBS. If you have a standard Oracle Repository you can see how they built the URL's.
They are using the fnd_url_functions package in the APPS schema. They use this functionality in the Physical Layer. They add an extra column to their tabel of type 'Select'.
I was able to built an URL, but it was Trial and Error.
Hope this gives a little bit of info.

  • Action links resulting in "Error Codes: QM3V3HLV" - OBIEE11G

    Hi,
We have recently upgraded our 10g webcat to 11.1.1.5. Everything is working fine.
But the action links on the dashboard page are resulting in the below error, when clicked for the first time.
Invalid path () -- not allowed to be empty
    Error Details
    Error Codes: QM3V3HLV
When we go back and click the same thing again, it shows up the report correctly.
And also this is happening only when we integrate our OBIEE application with the web application.
Can someone throw some light on this!!
    Thanks!!
    Vasantha.P

    Hi,
For us, we are receiving the QM3V3HLV error when drilling down as well. We are not using any special link, just drilling on regular column values.
We have only seen this error with our own custom subject area reports that were upgraded to 11g from 10g. I was not able to recreate the error using the Sample Sales Lite subject area.
So far it seems like if I re-save the upgraded report and view it on a dashboard, there is no error with drilling. Also rebuilding the report in 11g seems to also get rid of the error when drilling. Rebuilding the report in 11g is not an ideal solution for us because of the number of reports we have to migrate over to 11g. So far, no definitive answer on what might be causing this from Oracle.
