Hi,
I have downloaded sample code from oracle web site for connection pooling in java.
some tables were used in that program like AVAILABLE_ROOM_TYPES, hotel_bookings etc....
it was told that the table structures can be found in otn site. but i cud not find that.
can ay one tell me where i can find all the table structures and dumps with data for those tables that are used in all the sample codes available for download.

Oracle Data Pump - Table Structure change

Hi,
we have daily partitioned table, and for backup we are using data pump (expdp). we policy to drop partition after backup (archiving).
we have archived dump files for 1year, few days back developer made changes with table structure they added one new column to table.
Now we are unable to restore old partitions is there a way to restore partition if new column added / dropped from currect table.

If a new column has been added to the table, you can import only the the data from the old structure to the new structure. Use the parameter CONTENT=DATA_ONLY.

It may be case sensitive.

Oracle 9i Lite: Table structure changed

how do I add a new column to a database table? I mean what actions to I have to take to add the column to the database on the server and how is this change transferred to the clients? Are these changes impossible to do with Oracle Lite?

Yes, this is possible. There are two ways you can update the clients...
1) repackage the app with the packaging wizard
2) use the consolidator API - see the javadoc.

When I migrate my core data database, all tables data is reinserted ?

I've created a new database on iOS, with a small change in a table and mapped to the previous one. However, looking at the log, it seems that all data is reinserted. Consequently, the migration is very slow.
In the log file I can see that all the tables are created again and data is inserted (check for CREATE TABLE, INSERT statements):http://cl.ly/3H1v252R1p1c
any clue why my database is slow ?
I've also checked this line in the log file: pragma auto_vacuum=2. So i've changed the pragma options to set it to 0. The property log is correctly updated, but it seems it wasn't the problem.

Thanks for the link but I tried everything on the page and the delay is still present. Also, the delay is a bit longer than I thought. It's usually 20 seconds.

How to search all columns of all tables in a database for a keyword?

Dear Team,
i have an requirement that : i want to search all the columns of all the tables in the particular database based on the specific key word or an free text.
example :
table 1: columns data
empname sam
empid 01
table 2 columns data
deptname sam
departmentid 10
table 3 columns data
organization name sam
organization id 1
when i search for text " SAM"
it should search me from the entire database, all tables and columns of it and display the result
output : tablename cloumn value
table1 empname sam
table2 deptname sam
table3 organizationame sam
the example is just an sample not the real data .
please help me with sample code or any link related to it .

the basic requirement that we required is ,
the user will just type the keyword( value in the coumn) he required and it should search all the tables and columns of the table in the database and i have to show this in the front ent in the table format. here the user will analyse the information based on the search .
it is just like the google search we does( type the keyword in free text) it will display the result.
so for that i have to search entire table and columns in the whole database.
please if any one provides me the solution it will be help full for me.

1) Alter table <<tablename>> add(<<columnname>> <<datatype>>)
2) Update <<tablename>> set <<columnname>>=<<anyvalue>>
3) Alter table <<tablename>> modify(<<columnname>> <<datatype>> not null)
else
1) rename <<tablename>> to <<tablenamebk>>
2) drop table <<tablename>>
3) Alter table <<tablenamebk>> add(<<columnname>> <<datatype>>)
4) update <<tablenamebk>> set <<columnname>>=<<anyvalue>>
5) create table <<tablename>> (with additional columns with not null)
6) insert into <<tablename>> select * from <<tablenamebk>>

Problem with ORACLE database

I am facing some problem with ORACLE database while configuring one JDBC scenario in the receiver side. I have configured one JDBC scenario like FILE TO JDBC. As JDBC is at receiver side i have provided the input file with the following format ,

But in the ORACLE database all my columns are in the uppercase.
So when i have tried to send this input file to process through JDBC receiver side then i have faced the below error :
FATAL ERROR: Column 'flag' does not exist in table 'employee'
Then I have tried to check with sender side processing of JDBC adapter. By using the SQL statements as
SELECT * FROM EMPLOYEE WHERE flag='NO'
UPDATE EMPLOYEE SET Flag='YES' WHERE flag='NO'
Here it worked fine.
Now my question is,
If the same adapter is working when we are writing a query directly(sender side), then we must also allow case independence in the auto generated SQL part(receiver side).
The JDBC drivers for both SQL server and Oracle, supports the same java code, for accessing the DB, irrespective of the case of the column names.
Please clarify this doubt as soon as possible.

I will get the following query with succesfull processing.
INSERT INTO EMPLOYEE (FLAG, ID, NAME) VALUES (NO, 666, SSS)
when i go with this input file,

Then i am facing this problem,
Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: Error processing request in sax parser: Error when executing statement for table/stored proc. 'EMPLOYEE' (structure 'StatementName1'): java.sql.SQLException: FATAL ERROR: Column 'flag' does not exist in table 'EMPLOYEE'
Here I cant get any SQL statement as it is not successfull.
I have gone through your link but it also says to modify the column in the input file which is not possible for me. Can you please help me in this regard?

Unable to Create Entity Model from existing oracle database

I am using Visual Studio 2013, .net framework 4.5, entity framework 5.0 and oracle 11g database.
Issue Description: I need to develop WCF service to exposing the account information which needs to get the data from 20 oracle tables. Trying to create entity model from existing oracle database. first i tried creating just two tables it
was created but it took more than 30 minutes. then i selected remaining few tables it took more than a days but nothing created just showing spinning the wheel. then i tried with fresh project and selected all the tables but same issue nothing created and
also there is no error. during this process i checked database query monitoring there is a big sql statement collection tables metadata. i don't know what was wrong the query taking too much time to complete the process.
we tried multiple machine and different oracle database all are same issue.
Sql server database -looks good no issues.
Any help/tips/ideas welcome to overcome this issue.

Oracle Database Migration Verifier - Can it be used for diff table structur

Hello,
We have re-engineered the existing sybase tables to a new structure in Oracle for few of the tables.For example a table in sybase is normalized to two tables in oracle.In these cases can the "Oracle Database Migration Verifier" be mapped such that the columns in one table in sybase be mapped to two table is Oracle with their respective column names.
In a gist can the tool be used even if the structure is not the same in the source and targer databases.
Please let me know if you need more clarifications regarding my query.

not really. The DMV was a simple tool for verifiying that what you now had in Oracle was what you had in Sybase. It does not do what you are expecting.

ur exp ur database from oracle 10g. from exp cmd instead of expdp cmd bcoz oracle 10g. expdp cmd is not compitable with oracle 8.
simple give cmd>exp cmd if u want exp complete database from oracle 10g..
if u have any problem go reference oracle database utilities ....
and then imp in oracle 8 using imp cmd cmd>imp cmd bcoz here u want imp complete database....

if i don't have TEST table on server B whether COPY command will create this table on server B with the same structure ? If you specify CREATE as a clause the table will be created:
SQL> help copy
COPY
COPY copies data from a query to a table in a local or remote
database. COPY supports CHAR, DATE, LONG, NUMBER and VARCHAR2.
COPY {FROM database | TO database | FROM database TO database}
            APPENDCREATE|INSERT|REPLACE} destination_table
            [(column, column, column, ...)] USING query
where database has the following syntax:
     username[password]@connect_identifier
