Oracle Drive Refresh Issue
Hello. We recently started experiencing problems with Oracle Drive automatically resetting it's refresh to an hour. We set all users on a 3 minute refresh but lately we have noticed it has been getting switched back to an hour somewhere. Anywone have any ideas how to stop it?
I agree with Ray that you should probably be deploying certs in a different way in order to use the App Volumes product as intended (floating linked clone pools). I would use GPOs to deploy certificates myself.

Hi,
We have Oracle Drive installed with Oracle 10.1.2 Portal. When a user opens an MS
Word file, immediately in the MS Windows Explorer window, the STATUS attribute
shows "Locked by <user>", where <user> is the userid of the user.
However, the STATUS attribute for other users on other computers using Oracle
Drive with MS Windows Explorer do not immediately see this "Locked by <user>"
message. Is there a way to get this message propagated immediately to the other
users so that they do not open the file expecting to be able to write to the file?
It takes the other users a while and a lot of hitting the REFRESH menu option
to see this propagated to all of the other users.I'v found the problem. I need to le empty in the port box...
So, thank you :) -
App Volumes C Drive refresh issue
Hi,
We are having an issue with VDI desktops using App Volumes. Basically once we deploy a desktop with the App Volumes Agent we cannot permanently modify or create any files on the C Drive.
If we create a folder on the C Drive or install local software it will all work OK until the desktop is rebooted. After the reboot though all files/software are gone. It is almost like the desktop reverts to its original state after deployment.
This only happens to desktops with the App Volumes Agent installed. We have tested with desktops without the Agent and they are not experiencing the same issue. I have compared the Pool settings and they are identical.
Is this a know issue with App Volumes and is there any way to prevent this?
Thank you.I agree with Ray that you should probably be deploying certs in a different way in order to use the App Volumes product as intended (floating linked clone pools). I would use GPOs to deploy certificates myself.

I have weblogic server 8.1 sp4 running on Linux E3.0 using JRockit 1.4.2_5.
I cannot seem to get the Oracle driver ojdbc14.jar to work. Yes I have added $ORACLE_HOME/bin to my classpath prior to any weblogic classes, I added $ORACLE_HOME/lib and $ORACLE_HOME/jdbc/lib to my LD_LIBRARY_PATH with no luck.
I get the error "no ojdbc10 in java.library.path".
I keep reading in the JDBC driver notes that the driver is compatible with different version of JDK 1.x but not JRockit. Perhaps Oracle 10 has this fixed.
Anyone experiences the same problem ? I am stuck ..Oracle database 10.2 drivers ojdbc14.jar may also be used with JDK 5.0.

Refresh Issue in Oracle ADF In JDeveloper
Hi all,
My ADF Application is having around 350 Forms. Application size is 700MB. I am facing a refresh issue in this application. whenever i am modifying any queries in view objects or lookups it is not reflecting immediately. Say : i modified one query. Then i deployed the application means the query is taking the old query. to take the modified query i have to rebuilt the view object. Every time i am facing this same problem. Some times within 2-3 deployments the query is modified by itself(without rebuild) and working fine. Sometime after 10 times also it is taking the old query only. Every time i have to rebuilt to fix this issue. Please help me to fix this issue. I am using oralce 11g.Try to invoke Clean All Operation before you deploy the application.

Issue with GetSchema("Columns") of Oracle driver from ODBC DSN
Hi,
I have installed Oracle Express Edition and have created a windows System DSN for Oracle driver 'Oracle in XE'. From my .Net application using ODBC connection string, I am trying get the schema of columns of a particular table in Oracle DB and the sample code is given below.
dtSchema = odbcConn.GetSchema("Columns", new string[4] { odbcConn.Database, null, strTableName, null });
Does Oracle driver accept the restrictions to be passes as paramenter to GetSchema() method?
Please help me ASAP.
Regards,

"Hello,
From reading of these newsgroups I've seen many different manifestations
of what seems to be the same root cause with connection pools and
connections which are refreshed/replaced when found broken. In our
case weblogic server hangs.
Kit: 2xWeblogic 5.1.0 sp11 (not clusterd), Solaris 8,
java 1.3.1_01, 1xoracle 8.1.6, latest JDBC 2.0 drivers from oracle. Each weblogic instance and oracle have their own machines.
We do indeed have a firewall employed to run our subnets, and hence
our weblogic servers and oracle databses are in different DMZ's, but are
allowed to communicate to each other via rules set up on the firewall and
inspection of the logs show no such connections being dropped.
As far as the db is concerned, lookups (no writes) never take more than a few
hundred milliseconds and are then closed and given back to the connection pool
immediately from within the 'finally' block of code, hence hard to see when,if ever, the db is

Hi Joe,
The fix you suggested has been implemented and has been running fine
now for the past 3 days. I'm delighted with the result,Great. Glad to help.
but am concerned as to why this problem wasnt highlighted during our
load-testing phases...It's a possibility that your load-testing didn't present the same sort
of load that your actual runtime does.
Thanks for your time on this.Well sure. We want you successful.

Please find attached a copy of the jvm thread dump we got from thelast time
that weblogic blocked upon trying to refresh a broken connection.
We have turned off JIT with the environment settingJAVA_COMPILER=NONE.
FYI hotspot is enabled with '-hotspot', these settings can be foundin the
attached 'startWeblogic.sh'.Hi. I found a serious problem by reading the thread dump:
"ExecuteThread-11" daemon prio=5 tid=0x179d40 nid=0x19 waiting for
monitor entry
[0xeee80000..0xeee819e0]
at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:144)
- waiting to lock <f8e77ad0> (a java.lang.Class)
at com.akqa.sainsburys.jv_recipe.ejb.session.RecipeBean.getConnection(Re
cipeBean.java:759)
It is important to never call DriverManager methods in a multithreaded
application
such as Weblogic, because these JVM methods are alloverly synchronized
at
the class level. One such method, DriverManager.println(), is called
continuously
by all JDBC drivers as well as the SQLException constructor. If one
server thread
makes a long-lasting or hanging call to DriverManager.getConnection(),
it can halt
all JDBC in the whole JVM including work on other open driver
connections.
Please show me the code for RecipeBean.java, and I will send you an
altered version
that should solve this problem. In fact, I can infer from the thread
dump what is needed.
Change the one method getConnection() to this:
// Make once and re-use a driver instance directly, avoiding
DriverManager
Driver d = (Driver)class.forName("weblogic.jdbc.jts.Driver").newInstance();
public Connection getConnection()
return d.connect("jdbc:weblogic:jts:yourPoolNameHere", null );
Also, change your pool definition. I assume you have
testConnsOnReserve set to true.
(You should). Also, you should change your refresh minutes to
something huge, like
9999999. The refresh is interfering with your online performance and
is unnecessary
if you have testConnsOnReserve set. I recommend:
weblogic.jdbc.connectionPool.RecipeDBPool=\
url=jdbc:oracle:thin:@foo:1521:BAA,\
driver=oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver,\
loginDelaySecs=1,\
initialCapacity=50,\ <------ note that this should be the
same as max, so all cons are made at startup
maxCapacity=50,\
testTable=dual,\
testConnsOnReserve=true,\
refreshTestMinutes=9999999,\
etc.
Joe
I've also attached some firewall logs around the time of weblogicblocking
(12.09). I could only get screen dumps for you, this may or maynot be
useful.
For the firewall logs use the following legend :-
195.110.64.205 - DNS
172.16.160.195 - host webserver 1 (i.e. what our licenses are boundto)
172.16.160.196 - host webserver 2
172.16.160.220 - website 1
172.16.160.230 - website 2
Thanks

Apologies for any misunderstandings with my previous post, it appears to
have been cropped. Full posting below (yes we do have testConnOnReserve and
testTable properties set).
Thanks for your time.sure, but first let's get you running OK. These dumps seem to be
very cryptic, as if you're running a highly optimized JVM that
loses almost all of the Java class references I'd normally see.
Can you run again with a more basic JVM? I am beginning to suspect
the JIT JVM...

Fequently however, connections are found to be broken
(either by periodical refresh - refreshTestMinutes or
testing connection before granting it to the
application - testConnsOnReserve=true), this has been
confirmed by viewing JDBC.log .
When this is so, weblogic attempts to replace these
broken connections with new ones and then proceeds
to grant it to the application. Once in a while however
(and by no means 'x' refreshes later), weblogic will not
come back.
One of 2 errors occur in our deployment which cuase weblogic
to refresh a connection.
<JDBC Pool RecipeDBPool> java.sql.SQLException: No more data to read fromsocket
and
<JDBC Pool RecipeDBPool> java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: Broken pipe
I believe these settings to all be correct, JDBC drivers
in the correct point BEFORE weblogic.aux in classpath, yet
still have the issue of broken connections.
Any ideas ? I've been reading a lot into this probelm
on various postings now, and i'm completely stumped.

JBoss Can't find Oracle Driver
Hello, everyone,
I'm hoping someone can help me.
I've created a small web service. I have one method which returns something very straight forward, and it works fine.
I have then progressed this to try to return some data from an Oracle table.
However, when I try to do this, I get an error back saying that the Oracle Driver can not be found.
I am using JBoss, and am running this in Eclipse's Web Service Explorer.
The things I have tried to solve the issue are:
- Ensuring the Oracle driver is located in Windows>Preferences>General>Data Management>Connectivity>Driver Definitions
- Placing the Oracle driver jar in as many lib folders in my JBoss directory on my C drive as possible (I may have missed some out).
I am not sure what else to try. Please can someone help me or point me in the right direction?
Any help would be hugely appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance.
Robin

If you open up the server.xml file inside the config directory of the appserver instance you will find all the paths are added to <java-config java-home = tag. So place the path in this place. Then there should not be any problem getting the driver.

Problems with Drive Mapping using Oracle Drive
It seems as though we are having some trouble with oracle drive. The install was a piece of cake, as was the configuration. The problem arises when at times we connect with the proper credentials, Oracle Drive logs the user in, but then the appropriate drive does not map. Nothing shows up under "My computer". The window will launch for the user to use Oracle Drive, but they get error messages including, "Cannot support long file names." (AKA, anything longer than 8 characters).
Has anyone else come across these issues? Any ideas how to resolve. The issues we get with the long file names seem to only be when the drive doesn't properly map.
Any thoughts would be helpful.
Also, I have heard rumors of a Production version of Oracle Drive. Anyone have some news on that?We are very pleased to announce the Production Release 10.1.2.0 of Oracle Drive.
You can download the software from here:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/cs/index.html
Note:
- This version is production for English only. Other languages are Beta.
- Oracle Drive 10.1.2.1 for ALL languages is expected soon.
Find more information on Installation and Configuration as well as a Viewlet that shows Oracle Drive in Action here:

Oracle Drive: Icon Not Displayed in "My Computer"
I have a couple of users who are using Oracle Drive, and they have no problem connecting, and they have the "Open Explorer window after connection" option selected. However, if they accidentally close the Explorer window, and try to go back into "My Computer" and find the icon for the drive to open it, it's not displayed. However they are actually still connected to the drive. Both of these users are running WinXP, SP2, and have all current Windows updates, patches, etc. We also have about 20 other users with the same OS and environment who are not having this problem. All of these users are in a domain controller (Windows Active Directory Server 2003) environment. This is not a huge issue, but are there any ideas as to why this is happening?
try to check with some one from microsoft as this error happens even with a local driver under windows. Or u can re-install windows again!!

Weblogic 6.1sp3 Oracle 9i connectivity issue
All,
I need your help in overcoming a Connection Pool issue. Details are:
-Configuration - Weblogic 6.1 sp2, Oracle 9i (on a P4 machine)
-Connection pool entry (config.xml)
<JDBCConnectionPool CapacityIncrement="1" DriverName="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"
InitialCapacity="5"
MaxCapacity="25" Name="ejbPool" Properties="user=testuser;password=testpassword;dll=ocijdbc8;protocol=thin"
RefreshMinutes="10" ShrinkPeriodMinutes="5" Targets="myserver"
TestConnectionsOnReserve="true" TestTableName="dual" URL="jdbc:oracle:thin:@delmtest:1521:SID"/>
While starting weblogic, I get the following exception:
<Oct 25, 2002 5:00:46 PM IST> <Error> <JDBC> <Cannot startup connection pool "ejbPool"
weblogic.common.ResourceException:
Could not create pool connection. The DBMS driver exception was:

Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
RajaProblem solved!! Solution was to include the correct classes12.jar file in the
CLASSPATH BEFORE weblogic.jar. This is because weblogic.jar also ships with an
oracle driver, which is 8.1.7 (not 9i).
Thanks for your help..

Full stack trace is:Yep. The pool never got created. The failure below is during pool creation,
and is definitely an Oracle internal problem. You should simplify the
problem
by trying (maybe with Oracle's help) to make a simple JDBC connection
to your DBMS, with their driver, in a simple standalone program.

Scrollbar refresh issue in ADF Table
Hello, All
We have an issue regarding the ADF Tables. Please let me know if it is a Oracle bug. All of us know that 'ExecuteQuery' operation refreshes the cache in View Objects.
But, based on our testing results, there might be a table refresh issue on vertical scrollbars after this opertion is executed.
Settings:
In the attached example project, we have a ADF RichTable included in a PanelCollection.
In addition, We set 'AutoHeightRows' property on this ADF RichTable in order to show scrollbars on the PanelCollection.
Furthremore, a standard CommandButton is created on the toolbar to execute queries.
Experimental Steps:
1. Use your mouse to move the vertical scrollbar to around the center of its range. This behavior causes the scrollbar scrolling vertically.
2. Click on any row showing in the table right now, make it to be the active row.
3. Press the 'ExecuteQuery' button, waiting for the table refresh.
Results:
1. Active row moves to the first row in the rowset.
2. Vertical scrollbar stay in the center of its range without moving to the first row.
3. The first row is hidden from end users. The user can not see the active row in this case.
FYI:
The attached project can be accessed from the following link:
http://www.4shared.com/zip/Xn4Ki0DP/Application3.html
In this project, we tried to set 'partialTriggers' on RichTable and its surrounding PanelCollection separately. But, the refreshing issue still exists.
Regards,
David HeWelcome David to forums.
Always mention your exact Jdev version. For more information read this: https://forums.oracle.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=56
I too faced the similar kind of issue in one of my application.
As you have not mentioned the exact jdev version, I will tell you what I did in my application which was developed using Jdev 11.1.2.0
After the VO is executed, you can write the below line of code to show the first rows in the table.
applicationsRichTable.setDisplayRow(applicationsRichTable.DISPLAY_ROW_FIRST);
//applicationRichTable is the binding for the RichTable in managed beanHope it helps. -
Oracle Drive specific features not working
I have set up Oracle Drive against two 10gR2 instances. Both of them fail with different messages.
There are no issues with MS Web Folders, also most of this functionality works in Oracle Drive.
When I try to use Drive specific functionality like "set properties", this fails with following messages.
1. One of them fails with HTTP-404 after using machine name in the URL as opposed to using Virtual Host name
2. Second one fails with similar error message but this is missing virtual host name or server name in the URL.
I can't find any Oracle Drive logs to debug. So, my questions are ..
1. how can I debug Oracle debug?
2. Does Oracle drive support virtual host?
3. If so, why is the above behaviour
Users are keen to use Oracle Drive. So, any help (ASAP) would be appreciated.

Kinetic Software LtdHi Christian,
Sorry I didn't get back to you so far. I just noticed that this account is using old email address and I didn't recieve any update when you replied.
Here are some answers to your questions.
0) Bye the way one of the servers works now after recent portal repository copy (ptlconfig was run as part of it)
1) I tested view page, access control and set properties options. All of these fail.
2) I was looking for log files in the wrong place. Found them now and from the logs, it looks like one of the sites is not getting proper values for OPTIONS query.
Here is the reply from server that works.

Oracle Drive, dav_portal and accents
Hi everyone.
I am using the DAV protocol to have access to some of my documentation in Portal.
The thing is when I use some accent in the archives names like "documentaciónuno.doc" and try to access to the DAV with Oracle Drive, the archive is listed like "documentaciónuno" and wont let me even open it. If I try to open it, word say something like there is an error opening the file.
Any idea why is this happening?I have the exact same problem on Oracle Portal 10.1.4 while I'm using Windows XP. I never had the webdav problem when I was using Windows 2000/NT on older versions of the portal. There is a note on Metalink (Note:338932.1) that seems relevant to this issue but I haven't been able to try WebDAV while using a different OS than Windows XP to confirm that is the bug I've encountered. The solution in that note says "Wait for the bug fix (no earlier than Portal 11.0) OR Use a client other than Windows XP."
I found another note (Note:367860.1) with the solution being to install and use the Oracle Drive client. Did that, and still got an "Error 5: Access is denied" alert when trying to add a file to a plain portal page with NO tabs and a single Items region that allows users to add content to it. Next, under that page's properties on the Items tab, in the Default WebDAV Types section, changed Default Regular Files to Simple File and tried adding a file using WebDav and ta-daaaa! It worked. However, I don't want to use the Simple File item type, I want to use the regular File!!! And yes, I have made some customizations to the File item (changed defaults, re-order attributes, etc.) Not sure what to do next. Any ideas??? -
User error when connecting to Apex on XE with Oracle drive
Hi,
When I tried to connect to Apex (webdav) on an XE database to access themes and css with Oracle Drive it sends incorrect user or password message, I tried with sys, system and other users.
With windows explorer I could connect using the same user.
Any help to sove my problem is welcome

I am having some issues with connecting to Apex Listener via SQL Developer. I get "cannot connect to connection" when I attempt to connect.
I do get apex pages (when I use the Glassfish default port - it doesn't seem to take the specified port which is defined as 7788 in the apex.properties at the config.dir location). The port specified in apex.properties is only used by Standalone Mode, the port that GlassFish uses is configured by GlassFish, not Listener.
I have defined the user via the war config (which is written to the credentials file), and added the users under default config > file realm in Glassfish.You only need to do the former, doing the latter should have no effect, I would remove the user in the GlassFish file realm, to avoid causing confusion.
I wonder if anyone has had a similar issue?
Ensure you have spelt the role name correctly when setting up the user, any typos (it is case sensitive) and it won't match the role, and will therefore refuse access.
You have disabled SSL verfication as well? (If you are not using SSL)

If neither of those work, try turning on logging in the Listener to see if the request is even reaching Listener (It sounds like it's not even connecting TBH).
https://cdivilly.wordpress.com/2013/03/11/configuring-logging-with-oracle-application-express-listener-and-glassfish/
I am using the following:
Glassfish 3.1.2.2
Apex Listener 2.0.2.133.14.50
SQL Dev 3.2.09
