Oracle driver install

I was wondering if it is possible to bundle the ODBC driver (and other dependent dlls) along with our Win32 app. The assumption is that the client will install the Oracle client. I will install the driver not into the Oracle folder but into a location where my app gets installed. Per the documentation, follwing dlls get installed:
sqora32.dll Oracle ODBC Database Access DLL
sqoras32.dll Oracle ODBC Driver Setup DLL
sqresus.dll Oracle ODBC Resource DLL
I install these dlls on a client machine and register them using the ODBC API call:
SQLInstallDriverEx.
However when I try to create a data source, the ODBC administrator crashes. Is there a necessity that the driver be installed in the location where the client is installed or is there a dependency on the ORA HOME setting?

The only supported way to install the Oracle ODBC driver on a full Oracle client is to use the Oracle Universal Installer.
If you are looking to bundle something with your application, you may want to look at the 10g Instant Client, which can be easily integrated with external installers.

    HI Gaurav,
    Follow the steps:
    Go to Visual admin:
    1) chose table cluster->server->libraries->com.sap.aii.af.jmsproviderlib
    2) Check in window jar container,if JMS/JDBC libraries are uploaded correctly
    3) Look ar jars contained
    3) look at \usr\sap\<sysID>\JCOO\j2ee\cluster\server-\bin
Also check the deployment in Visual Admin
    1) choose tab cluster->server->service->classloader viewer

  • Oracle Drive Locking Issue

    Hi,
We have Oracle Drive installed with Oracle 10.1.2 Portal. When a user opens an MS
Word file, immediately in the MS Windows Explorer window, the STATUS attribute
shows "Locked by <user>", where <user> is the userid of the user.
However, the STATUS attribute for other users on other computers using Oracle
Drive with MS Windows Explorer do not immediately see this "Locked by <user>"
message. Is there a way to get this message propagated immediately to the other
users so that they do not open the file expecting to be able to write to the file?
It takes the other users a while and a lot of hitting the REFRESH menu option
to see this propagated to all of the other users.

I'v found the problem. I need to le empty in the port box...
    So, thank you :)

  • Do i need oracle portal to install Oracle Drive ?

    Hi,
Sorry for this dumber question, I am now to this.
I am using an enterprise oracle database and I want to use the Oracle Drive feature.
Do I need to install Oracle Portal only for doing this ?
Thank you for your kind answer.

I think you do because this is a WebDAV tool and allows you to see the page groups and pages as folders/directories.

  • Edit in Place without installing Oracle Drive

    Hello
We wish to use the functionality of 'Edit In Place' through our own custom jsp pages however we do not wish to deploy Oracle Drive to users as we want to force them to use the business logic inherent in our custom jsp pages.
Is there a way of using 'Edit In Place' without deploying Oracle Drive?
    Thanks
    Phil

    Hi Phil,
You could build your own "edit-in-place" functionality with some custom programming, given that you are writing custom JSP pages.
The Content DB Development Kit has a topic titled "Custom Web Applications" with an explanation on how to configure custom servlets.
You could write a custom servlet that uses the Content DB API to update Documents and interact with your custom JSP/HTML page, which could provide an "edit-in-place" GUI.
You could use a product such as Editize (http://www.editize.com) to provide the editing functionality.
When the client-side editing is finished, the changes can be sent to your custom servlet, which would update the Document.
If you build this solution, you may be able to offer it to other Content DB customers!

  • Oracle driver problem

    Hello,
I'm currently trying to install the Jive forum application on the WAS. The installation itself went very well, but I have a problem with the initial setup.
At a certain point I have to give the DB driver class and the according connection string.
I have a oracle DB installed for this and was using the following driver class:
    oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
As error jive setup gives me :
Unable to load database driver 'oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver' - make sure it is in your appserver's classpath.
I have deployed the classes12.jar as described in
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/80/4f34c587f05048adee640f4c346417/frameset.htm
This also did not solve my problem.
Does somebody has some experience  with this?
    Thanks a lot!
    Regards,
    Peter

    Hi,
how likely is it that your DB connect code produces the problem ? Did you try this question on the database forum ?

  • Backup fails for a Hyper-V guest with VSS Writer failures using DPM 2012 R2 - Hyper-V guest has Oracle application installed,

I am trying to backup a VM which before it had Oracle installed backed up with no problems.  It is a Windows 2008 R2 server which sites on an 8 node Hyper-V 2012 R2 cluster (with CSVs).  I am using DPM 2012 R2 to run the backups which have been
successful for the last few weeks but then Oracle was installed and the backups have failed since then.
The job fails and a large number of VSS writers go into a 'Failed' state with the 'Last Error' showing as 'Timed out'.  I then get 4 popups appear each referring to a 'temporary' drive which appears briefly in Disk Management with a RAW file system.
These pops say "You need to format the disk in drive X: before you can use it.  Do you want to format it?" (where
X: is replaced by the drive letter assigned to each 'temporary' drive).
The System event log is populated with a large number of warnings with Event 51, Disk, stating "An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk<number>\DR<number> during a paging operation".  There are also a
few warnings for Ntfs (eventid 57) stating that "The system failed to flush data to the transaction log.  Corruption may occur."
Prior to these warnings there are 5 other warnings for partmgr (eventid 58) stating "The disk signature of disk
<number x> is equal to the disk signatuire of disk <number y>" and 4 errors (eventid 1, VDS Basic Provider), "Unexpected failure.  Error code: 490@01010004".
There is a script which is run to stop the Oracle application on the server and if this is run then the backups will complete successfully.  We have been troubleshooting this by running a certain amount of the script and seeing which part affects the
backup and it seems that if the Weblogic (wls_reports) service is stopped then the backup will succeed but if it is running then the backup will fail and the above symptoms occur.
Another point which may help is that there is a pre-production server which resides on a Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V standalone server, has the same scripts and installation of Oracle but backs up without any issues.
I have experienced VSS writer failures before with VM backups but I have not seen this before.  It is not intermittent and I can find no work around to alleviate the problem of having no backup (except stopping this service or shutting the server down,
but as it is a production server this is not practical).
If anyone has experienced this before or have any suggestions / advice it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Chris

    Hi Chris
I have exactly the same issue.
    2008 R2 Server running Oracle
    6 node 2012 R2 Hyper-V Cluster with CSV
Exact same errors and popup "format disk" message.
    DPM2012 R2
I also have some other VM's on the same cluster which do back up through DPM
The only difference I can see is the server which has the issue has a legacy network adapter.
Production server so cannot make any changes until later but will add new adapter and report back.
Interesting about the Weblogic service, may test this also.
    Cheers
    Kev.

  • Problems with Drive Mapping using Oracle Drive

It seems as though we are having some trouble with oracle drive. The install was a piece of cake, as was the configuration. The problem arises when at times we connect with the proper credentials, Oracle Drive logs the user in, but then the appropriate drive does not map. Nothing shows up under "My computer". The window will launch for the user to use Oracle Drive, but they get error messages including, "Cannot support long file names." (AKA, anything longer than 8 characters).
Has anyone else come across these issues? Any ideas how to resolve. The issues we get with the long file names seem to only be when the drive doesn't properly map.
    Any thoughts would be helpful.
Also, I have heard rumors of a Production version of Oracle Drive. Anyone have some news on that?

We are very pleased to announce the Production Release 10.1.2.0 of Oracle Drive.
You can download the software from here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/cs/index.html
    Note:
    - This version is production for English only. Other languages are Beta.
    - Oracle Drive 10.1.2.1 for ALL languages is expected soon.

  • Adding Oracle driver crashes MS ODBC adminstrator

    Howdy,
I'm trying to set up the new Oracle 10g ODBC driver and it seems to be crashing the MS ODBC Data Source Administrator. After downloading and exploding the files on my drive, I used the Oracle Universal Installer to set it up. As the next step, I tried to add it using the ODBC Administrator, but every time I try, the Administrator program crashes. I'm trying to install on the same server that's running Oracle in order to establish a connection to an application running on the same server. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Alternatively, has anyone tried using the MS ODBC for Oracle driver (version 2.575.1022.00, dated 03/25/03). I had been advised against using this one with Oracle 10g.
    My environment is as follows:
OS: MS Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
    DB: Oracle 10g, version 10.1.0.2.0
ODBC Driver: Oracle in ODBC, version 10.01.00.31
    MS ODBC Administrator: version 3.525.1022.0
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Steve

I had this problem with the Oracle 10g driver as well. The problem was that when I tried to upgrade the odbc driver, I had to specify another Oracle home or the installer would crash. When I specified the other home directory, the install would work but caused this error. The solution was to uninstall the original odbc driver before installing the new one. I'm not sure why this changed all of a sudden, but the universal installer used to do this for you.

  • Oracle Drive:  Icon Not Displayed in "My Computer"

I have a couple of users who are using Oracle Drive, and they have no problem connecting, and they have the "Open Explorer window after connection" option selected. However, if they accidentally close the Explorer window, and try to go back into "My Computer" and find the icon for the drive to open it, it's not displayed. However they are actually still connected to the drive. Both of these users are running WinXP, SP2, and have all current Windows updates, patches, etc. We also have about 20 other users with the same OS and environment who are not having this problem. All of these users are in a domain controller (Windows Active Directory Server 2003) environment. This is not a huge issue, but are there any ideas as to why this is happening?

try to check with some one from microsoft as this error happens even with a local driver under windows. Or u can re-install windows again!!

  • Oracle Driver Error.

    hi all
i have deploy ojdbc14.jar in VS to connect to an a oracle DB.
the parametes im using in CC next:
    JDBC Driver: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    Connection: jdbc:oracle:thin:@subuedwd:1521:ddwh
    User: xxx
    pass: xxx
now. this jar is been used in PE and other legacy system to connect to oracle db but in PI im getting this error:
Error during database connection to the database URL 'jdbc:oracle:thin:@subuedwd:1521:ddwh' using the JDBC driver 'oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver': 'com.sap.aii.adapter.jdbc.sql.DriverManagerException: Cannot establish connection to URL 'jdbc:oracle:thin:@subuedwd:1521:ddwh': ClassNotFoundException: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver'
in a legacy system checked the conectivity with ddwh db and there no problems, an SQL query was executed perfect.
in PI server cheked if the deploy was made right, so i go to /usr/sap/XD0/DVEBMGS01/j2ee/cluster/server0/bin/ext to verify if folder  oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver with the ojdbc14.jar was there and it was.
the server was restarted discard possible errors but nothing change.
    any idea?
