Oracle DSN files in UNIX

Hi Guys,
i need to change server name in a DSN , orcale is installed in a UNIX server but i am nto sure where the DSN files reside in UNIX, can anyone help me in finding that file.

Ok
For Solaris
# vi /etc/resolv.conf
for HP-UX
The Berkley Internet Name Domain (BIND) is the most common implementation of DNS for UNIX based systems and HP ships BIND with all of its HP-UX versions.

  • How to write a file in unix server through oracle plsql code

    Hi All,
My requirement is to create and write a file (any file for eg txt file) in unix box with in a specified directory through oracle plsql code.
    Oracle sits in windows server.
using utl_file package we can create directory where oracle resides and write it there in oracle server in our case windows..
But here we need to create, write a file but in unix server which is different server than where the oracle server resides..
we are using Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production
    PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.2.0 - Production
Can any one one please help me out in this issue...
    Thanks in Advance.

    Mr Prakash,
Why are you asking this question multiple times in every forum you can spell?
Valid responses have been presented to you already two times.
Can you explain why you can't follow them up, but continue to abuse this forum by repeating doc questions?

  • How to create pdf files in UNIX directory from oracle reports

I would like to know how to create pdf files in UNIX directory from oracle reports.
    Thanks,

Please make your question more clear . Also mention the reports version.
    1) If you are runnning reports in Unix, you can give
    .... destype=file desformat=pdf desname=<filename>
    in command line
    Please refer docs below.
    2) If by your question you mean
"My reports server is running in Windows but I want to ftp my files to Unix after creating it"
then the answer is that you can use pluggable destination "ftp"
    .... destype=ftp desformat=pdf desname=<ftp url>
    Pluggable destinations download

  • Can you use command lines to copy files in UNIX to Oracle Apps

Hi! We have installed the oracle apps 11.5.0 to a unix operating system. And we use ftps to upload the rtf and xml files to the unix server. Is there any command lines we can use to copy all the rft and xml files in the server to the real location of where the report files stored without going through the XML Publisher font end through the internet explorer? Thanks for your help!

    Hi,
From what you have mentioned, I believe you are writing custom xml pub report
    1) Storing all your template and sample xml data file on Unix box by FTPing it. This step is not required as XML publisher picks template from XDO tables (where it is stored in CLOB), unless you are explicitly Coding to use templates from a fixed location like <CUST_TOP>/<xml_templates>
    2) As part of XML setup, you need to define the template and datasource using the front end. This causes the Template and XML data (sample) to be stored in XDO tables (as clobs). This step is basically required and unavaoidable. This step can be automated using FNDLOAD tool (not sure).
    Hope it helps somewhat.

  • Need to create file in unix (oracle directory path)

Is it possible to create a file in oracle directory path (in unix folder).
I am using a dynamic procedure to create the External Tables, when the given pattern file is present the procedure will create the External table, if the file is not present then it should create an empty file so that the corresponding External table would return zero(0) records. It should not fail.
It has to be through plsql not using unix script.

  • How to access SQL server in oracle running in aix unix?

    Hi all,
I have oracle database running in IBM AIX OS, and I need to query data in
    SQL SERVER 2000.
    How to do that?
Is there free Sqlserver ODBC drivers for unix?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I prefer heterogenous services over ODBC for this!
I have my notes here, which may help.
    http://www.dba-oracle.com/t_heterogeneous_database_connections_sql_server.htm
    1. Install Oracle ODBC drivers on the server (your local Oracle database) that will access the remote SQL Server database using the database link.
    2. Setup the ODBC connection on the local Oracle database using the Windows ODBC Data Source Administrator
    3. Test the ODBC drivers to ensure that connectivity is made to the SQL Server database.
    4. Ensure that your global_names parameter is set to False.
    5. Configure the Oracle Heterogeneous services by creating an initodbc.ora file within the Oracle database.
    7. Modify the Listener.ora file.
SID_NAME is the DSN for the remote database.
ORACLE_HOME is the actual Oracle home file path.
PROGRAM tells Oracle to use heterogeneous services.
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME=Cas30C) -- Enter the DSN on this line
(ORACLE_HOME = c:\oracle10gdb) -- Enter your Oracle home on this line
    (PROGRAM = hsodbc) ) )
    8. Modify the Tnsnames.ora file. This is the Oracle database installation accessed by the users to connect to the ODBC drivers
    (DESCRIPTION=
    (ADDRESS_LIST=
    (Address=(PROTOCOL=TCP)
    (HOST=
    -- (Server x)
(PORT=1521))) -- Enter the port on which the server x Oracle installation
    -- is listening
(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=Cas30c)) - Enter the DSN name
(HS=OK) -- Enter this value. It tells Oracle to use hetergeneous services
    9. Reload the listener on local Oracle database
    10. Create a database link on the local Oracle installation that accesses the heterogeneous connection, which, in turn, connect to SQL Server.
    11. Run a SQL Server Select statement from the Oracle installation using the database link.
    Hope this helps. . .

We are interesting in file with maximal values in "field" 2 and 3 assuming that fields are parts of filename separated with "_". I especially created (the file we are interested in) CHECK_300914_215928_xxaa_account_name_20140930201143.txt file to be the first created/modified file.
    find . -name CHECK_300914_215928_xxaa_account_name_20140930201143.txt
    ./CHECK_300914_215928_xxaa_account_name_20140930201143.txt
will definitely work. But we should know the file name. As for topicstarter note it is not the case.
    ls -tr . | tail -1
    CHECK_300914_200747_xxaa_account_name_20140930195924.txt
    gave incorrect file.

I much apologize for an error in back filename transformation. Correct is marked in bold red.

  • Set the password for zip file in unix

    Hi All,
I have used the below command to zip the file and it is working fine.
    cd /YYYY;zip -r ZZZZ.zip ZZZZ.TXT
While using the below command to set the password on zip file , I am getting error like "zip error: Invalid command arguments (encryption not supported)

Can you please help me how to set the password for zip file in UNIX.
    Thanks,

Do you use any characters in the password that might confuse the zip command? (like '-' or ';'?)
If I use the command in RHEL4:
    cd /tmp
    zip -P password -r tt.zip gconfd-oracle

    adding: gconfd-oracle/lock/ (stored 0%)

  • Flat File in Unix to DB in Windows

    HI
As part of POC I am trying to interface from a flat file in Unix server to a Oracle DB in Windows machine.
I can access the file in Unix box using telnet/FTP. The directory and the file has rw-rw-rw- permissions.
I have ODI installed in Windows machine. I do not have an agent or anything installed in Unix machine.
When the file is in Windows machine, I am able to interface data as required. But, when I try with file on unix machine, I get directory does not exist. I tried both absolute path using $HOME/<directory>.
Is it possible to achieve such integration or is it mandatory to install ODI Standalone Agent (at least) on the unix machine.
    Regards,
    G V Ranjith

Another option without installing the Unix agent is to install the samba share on the Unix and access that from Windows.
    This post will help you:

  • Forms configuration file in Unix

    Hi
    We're using Forms 9i.
Is there any configuration file in Unix in wich I can set Forms to read .pll files instead of .plx?
    TIA,
    Marcos

Since there's no inputs, lemme rephrase it:
There's this forms that have an attached library (PLL). One of the developers has made a few changes to this PLL, but the changes didn't make any effects because there was a previous version of this library, with PLX extension.
So, I'm wondering, if there's any way to tell Oracle Forms that you don't want to use PLX but PLL files (same for MMB vs. MMX, etc).
    TIA,
    Marcos

Edited by: Lavanya on Sep 5, 2012 3:09 PM

    Lavanya,
This question relates to shell scripting and in IMO it is not an oracle question.
I have made some initial assumptions before my proposed solution.
PLEASE note that this is untested, but can just guide you as a template for solving your problem.
Assuming that you have properly set up the control file and mapped each and every table in it as per the file information which you have..
Assuming the text file to be in the format of : ------ (as suggested by other posters earlier, this file holds instructions about the file and table mapping which shall be used by your sqlldr process.)
    tmp.txt:
    text_file_1-------------should goes to----customer_info_table
    text_file_2------------should goes to------customer_address_table
    text_file_3-----------should goes to-------customer_order_table
    while read line
    do
    SQLLDR CONTROL=`echo $line | sed 's/should goes to/ /g' | sed 's/-//g' | awk -F " " '{print $1}'`.ctl,
    LOG=`echo $line | sed 's/should goes to/ /g' | sed 's/-//g' | awk -F " " '{print $1}'`.log,
    BAD=`echo $line | sed 's/should goes to/ /g' | sed 's/-//g' | awk -F " " '{print $1}'`.bad,
    DATA=`echo $line | sed 's/should goes to/ /g' | sed 's/-//g' | awk -F " " '{print $1}'`.txt
    USERID=scott/tiger
done <tmp.txtAll I am trying to run from the above shell script is : -- PLEASE TEST it if it matches your requirement.
    SQLLDR CONTROL=text_file_1.ctl, LOG=text_file_1.log, BAD=text_file_1.bad, DATA=text_file_1.txt USERID=scott/tiger
    SQLLDR CONTROL=text_file_2.ctl, LOG=text_file_2.log, BAD=text_file_2.bad, DATA=text_file_2.txt USERID=scott/tiger
SQLLDR CONTROL=text_file_3.ctl, LOG=text_file_3.log, BAD=text_file_3.bad, DATA=text_file_3.txt USERID=scott/tigerRepeating my assumptions, I assume you have all those files required for SQLLDR process to run (ctl file, data file...)
    Cheers,
    Manik

  • UNABLE to EXECUTE Oracle Forms f50gen on UNIX

    Subject:
URGENT: Oracle FORMS Error on UNIX box...
I am trying to EXECUTE forms50 on HP UNIX box and get the following
ERRORS. Do I need to set a PATH???
    Please RESPOND ASAP at
    [email protected]
    $ f50gen

Actually SendMailJPkg.SendMail (JavaMail) does work when called out of Forms/Reports 10g against an 11g Database. We just tested it as an alternative because we are having the same issue with UTL_MAIL - It will run from an annonymous PL/SQL block fine, but when you try to compile the same code in Forms Builder (or Report Builder) the compiler chokes and throws the internal error [60603] error. Keep in mind that SendMail does NOT like NULL arguments, so if you are not going to use cc_recipient (i.e. NULL), just don't include it at all in your comma delimited param list. It should work fine then.

  • Is there ODBC driver for excel flat file in Unix Box

    Hello guys
I have a question about importing flat file sitting on Unix box into OBIEE. Normally, if the file is somewhere in Windows, I could just use a DSN for text file where I can set the location of the flat file and then be able to import using admin tool.
However, if the file is sitting on the unix box, I wouldn't be able to define the path using that DSN driver since the location of the file doesnt belong to C: drive or E: drive like it does in Windows.
So in this case, how would i be able to proceed? What third party ODBC could I use for flat file in Unix? Also, there is a file called ODBC.INI in Unix OBIEE directory, do I have to modify the content of that file too? If so how would I do it in order to be able to import flat file from Unix using Admin tool?
    Your thoughts?
    Thanks

You'd need to export the Excel file to CSV or something like that, and then read it in from there.
    Thanks rnm.
I am more curious about what you said above.. Could you explain a little more?
Do you mean changing the flat file into CSV format? If so, the flat would still be in Unix location after the changing right? Or am I not understanding you completely?
    Thanks and please advice
    Cheers

    Thanks

I figured out what the problem was. I simply needed to auto-extend the tablespace for WWW_FLOWS_FILES. It seems obvious now, but the fact that APEX popped me out to a 404 - Page not found instead of the usual ORACLE error threw me off.
I put this explaination here just in case someone else has the same problem.
