Oracle dump

Has anyone got the lastest oracle dump for oracle 10g Adminstartion 11 exam 1Z0 -043

I believe that what they are refering to is the practice of people whom have taken the test to immediately go back and do a brain dump of the questions and answers that they remember from the test. I am amazed of the amount of information people are able to remember, however I often wonder if they are using some memory "aids".
Usually there is a site that will complie the results of these brain dumps and sometime even try to verify the answers.
There use to be a site called http://www.braindumps.biz/ that would perform this type of service.

    Hi,
    EdStevens
Actually I was using SQL Developer. Sorry for the wrong define question. Now the real problem is:
I want to read or extract data in a txt file from Oracle Dump (.dmp) file without using Oracle sqlPlus or Oracle Database.
No need to say that i am able to extract dump data using sqlPlus. But for that, there is a little burden to install oracle database
    or sql Developer.
I also listen about Oracle Loader a little bit. Is it a tool for providing extraction of data from Oracle dump file.
    Thanks for your previous reply,
And now waiting for your suggestion.
    thanks,
    mohan

This isn't a SQLDeveloper question. You will get better answers in the Database - General forum.
Oracle dump files produced by the exp or expdp utilities are inproprietary formats which can only be read by the imp or impdp utilities respectively.
The best way to get data out of a dump file is to import it into a database and then extract it to plain text files using SQL.
Alternatively, leave it in the database and your application can access it there.
The exp dump file is mostly plain text, but the format is not published so you could waste a lot of time figuring it out.

  • Data Import from Oracle Dump to SQL Server(2000/2005)

    Hi Friends,
    I'm using Oracle 10g.
    I've a scenario.
I've Oracle Dump file. Now i would like import in SQL Server(2000/2005).
Can any one suggest me how to do this?
Any idea, clue will be highly appreciated.

I think you will need to import the data into SQL Server from an ASCII flat file using SQL Server DTS if avialable. You can use SQL Plus to extract the data outof Oracle into comma delimited flat files and then use SQL Server DTS load into the SQL Server database.

  • Query on oracle dump file

    Hi All ,
I have a question on Oracle Dump file . Is there a way to know how many objects got exported into the dump file during expdp . How do we know what are the objects which got exported and which dint get exported during a full export of a DB .
    Thanks.

    Hi All ,
    I guess i wasnt more elaborate ...
yeah i understand that log file will give me details of objects exported . log files gives me the list of tables exported , but objects index, procedures, packages , synonyms , views are all done in a group , it just says exported indexes , it will not show me which indexes got exported right ? ... SO i want to know about each and every object which got exported .
    I hope i m clear now .

Pl post database and OS versions.
Yes - pre-create the tablespaces on the destination and start the import.

    Hi,

  • Oracle dump file format

My client gave a dmp file exported by emp. Export environment is Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.5.0 - 64bit Production. Redhat 5.5.
However, when I try to import it under win7. Imp.exe throws those erros.
IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header failed verification
    IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully
I checked the first line of dump file under notepad++. It is not something like TEXPORT:V10.02.01. But totally unreadable characters.
Can I judge the dump file is corrupted by the first line is not something like TEXPORT?
    Regards,
    zlf

There could be problem in regard to how the dump file was copied, for instance converted as text vs. binary. However closing this thread and posting the question in the database export/import forum at Export/Import/SQL Loader & External Tables might be the best idea.

  • Oracle dump file

    Hi all,
I have tried do a full export in oracle 10g2 in server A then follow by a full import do another 10g2 in server B successfully.
But when i insert a row the10g2 server A and do a full export, follow by bringing the dump file to the database in server B and do full import again using the dump file. I found out that the row inserted does not reflect in the database in server B. Is there any way i can do so that the inserted row can be reflected in serverB?
    imp username/password file=dump.dmp full=y log=import.log
    Thanks
    cheng

    thanks hemant,
ignore=y will ignore the prensence of the table. I tried it out, apprantly it run slowly than i do the inital full import.
Other than ignore=y, is there other way of append the data?
Regarding this: To be safe you could either
    a. TRUNCATE all the tables in the target "B" database
    OR
    b. DROP all the tables in the target "B" database (or drop the whole schema)
    before you begin the import.
Sorry i quite new to Oracle database.
b.) there a command to drop the whole schema? so that i can do a full import.
a.) Honestly, i also do not know what is truncate, maybe i can go find out from google.
Regarding this: NOTE : Since you are copying specific schemas, you don't need to be using the FULL=Y option but OWNER= in the Export and, optionally, FROMUSER=, TOUSER= in the Import.
So instead of of a full export/import. i should do sth like this.
    exp username/password file=dump.dmp log=export.log owner=username
    imp username/password file=dump.dmp log=import.log fromuser=username, touser=username
eventhough the username is the same for both the database?

  • Oracle dump transaction log like Sybase

    Hello
In Sybase we use the dump transaction log command for the needed databases that dumps whatever is in the transaction log of that db to file system, after that dump file is copied over to another database server and loads the other database, this is like a replication
Does oracle have something similar to this?
    Many thanks

the closest you'll get to what you are looking for is a dataguard setup. Dataguard will manage the shipment of the logs on it's own and keep things in sync.
There is another option of Oracle Advanced Replication but you will need to review if that really meets your needs. The following is simply an overview of it:

    Hi All,
I Want know Oracle Database Dump is 32bit or 64bit. how can i find can you help me on this

    Hi,
I Want know Oracle Database Dump is 32bit or 64bit. how can i find can you help me on thiswhy don't you try by command "file <file_name>" in unix flavors environments.
If you trying to check the dump file which got generated from the database is whether 32 bit or 64 bit, then you it would be difficult to find out. Try to check the log of dump or database environment from where it got generated.

  • Oracle dump vs. backup

    Hello,
I want to take a copy/snapshot/backup/dump of my current oracle database instance, play around with it a little bit and reset it afterwards to the state of the snapshot before.
what is the best approach for that requirement, i think the easiest thing is taking a dump of my instance with the export/import utility, as I just need a copy of my database. does a dump have any disadvantages for my requirements compared to a real database backup?
    thanks!

This depends on the privileges you have on database, size of database and timing requirements: the largest the database, the more time it is going to take to export it and to import it.
Others approaches could be to use flashback database or transportable tablespaces: see Testing section in http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/issue-archive/2011/11-nov/o61asktom-512015.html
