Oracle error while using function dbms_lob.substr()

Following sql statement is causing error select dbms_lob.substr(clob_colum,32767) from Table* when the size of clob_column goes above 4 KB. The error message is given below
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
ORA-06512: at line 1
The issue is getting resolved when reducing the size of the CLOB column.
Is this a limitation of oracle query? Can anybody please help me to resolve this error? Thanks in Advance.

Can't you write CLOB directly?
Please post some example data as well as your desired output in order to understand completely your problem and test our ideas.

Thanks for quick inputs.
And amount is not having any delimitors.
I have checked in table T015Z and it has entries with AR as SPRAS.
All entries are having ':' at the beginning of the arabic words,and there is no single entry with ';'.
All entries with EN as SPRAS are having delimiters ';' at the end of the words.
Numbers are correctly converted to words in english,but abending in arabic.
Any idea please.

Look at metalink note 741984.1.

or
Substr("Fin Account".ASSET_NUM, instr(Fin Account".ASSET_NUM, ':')+1,50)
i think you should use 3 parameters, did you try that if it would work?
additionally check what is the default format of your data: go to column properties -> data format; if its text then ok; otherwise you will have to cast the number to char; in such a case the above could be:
Substr(cast("Fin Account".ASSET_NUM as char(20)), 1, instr(cast(Fin Account".ASSET_NUM as char(20)), ':')+1)
or
Substr(cast("Fin Account".ASSET_NUM as char(20)), instr(cast(Fin Account".ASSET_NUM as char(20)), ':')+1,50)

I'm getting ORA-00902: invalid datatype compilation error while using CAST function.
open ref_cursor_list for select empName from TABLE(CAST(part_t AS partnumberlist));
The partnumberlist and ref_cursor_list is declared in the Package spec as given below.

you are using old version of SQL*Plus. if you use later version it will give you correct result.

Then I decided to use eis/DB/SOADemo for testing.
For JDeveloper project, after I deployed to weblogic server, it works fine.
But for OSB project referencing wsdl, jca and mapping file from JDeveloper project, still got the same error as follows:

I have created jndi from console which I have mentioned in DBAdapter and I have provided details of JNDI to DbAdapter in deployment.
I am not able to solve this.
Can you please let me know solution for this or provide me link for tutorial of DBAdapter for stored procdure call?

I have run the catexp.sql and catrm.sql suggested by the experts in this forum. But it did not help me. Kindly help me in solving this issue.

1. I have a urgent customer encounterd a design issue and customer was trying to add 3 logical joins between SDI_GPOUP_MEMBERSHIP and these 3 tables (FACT_HOSPITAL_FINANCE_DTLS, FACT_HOSPITAL_BEDS_UTILZN and FACT_HOSPITAL_ATRIBUTES)
2. They found found out by adding these 3 joins, they ended with circular error.
[nQSError: 15001] Could not load navigation space for subject area GXODS.
[nQSError: 15009] Multiple paths exist to table DIM_SDI_CUSTOMER_DEMOGRAPHICS. Circular logical schemas are not supported.
In response to this circular error, the developer was able to bypass the error using aliases, but this is not desired by client.
3. They want to know how to avoid this error totally without using alias table and suggest a way to resolve the circular join(Multiple Path) error.
Appreciated if someone can give some pointer or suggestion as the customer is in stiff deadline.
