Oracle Financials Applications

Hi Friends!
I do not know where to put the Oracle Apps related questions hence I am posting my question here. Pleasae bare with me.
In Oracle Apps, I could not find heavily used referential integrity kind of things in the tables used by apps (as far as I know in Manufacturing and purchasing tables). If I am wrong please let me know. I wonder why Oracle does not apply its Integrity concepts in its own product.
Could anyone explain me?

Oracle indeed used referential integrity in all its apps including purchasing and manufacturing. A cursory look at the technical refrence manuals of the apps and the way the columns in the tables are inter-dependent showed this, I guess. If perhaps you are interested in some specific type of referential intergrity (which might only be specific to your client/company) then, this is different ball game. You can carefully create this as an extention to your installation instance and if this is of general public importance then make a suggestion to Oracle Applications development group using the appropriate channels.

Oracle Financials Applications Reports

Hi,
I need to customize Oracle Financial Applications Standard Reports (Balance, Journal etc...)(for GL, AP, AR, FA, CM). For example Adding some data columns or changing the label of the Standard Reports. What is the best tool to be able to do that and if there any specific training for getting this knowledge ?

Username and password for oracle financials

Many Applications users are predefined in the Vision Demo database. The following username/password pairs have System Administrator responsibility:
- SYSADMIN/sysadmin
- MFG/welcome
- OPERATIONS/welcome
- SERVICES/welcome
- MRC/welcome
- HRMS/welcome
If you have a fresh database, you can try SYSADMIN and/or OPERATIONS account.
All application users are defined in FND_USER table.

Retek and Oracle Financials Integration

Hi,
We are planning to implement Retek for the retail stores and Oracle Financials for the back end operations. Can some one tell me if these two products are seamlessly integrated? For example will the data flow from Retek to say AP or AR without having to develop any interfaces.

Oracle Financials and Forms Applications Integration

Hi All,
I am new to Oracle financials forums and i have few trivial questions. One of our customer has our forms application now the customer wants to integrate that with ORACLE Financials. Is it possible and if so how, please elaborate or help me with relevant links or examples, URL's, case studies from where i can pick some good approximation about integration.
Our application version 10g Forms application version - 10.1.2.3 running with 10g Database.
1) How this can be done.
2) Are there any past case studies with similar approach which was successfully implemnted.
3) What are the restrictions if this cant be done.
My questions might be quiet trivial. I request the forum users to participate and discuss on this.

Yes we have a product running with Forms 11g. So with your experience can you share similar documents or any notes which doesn't supports any of the forms features or compatibility issues which would arise while integrating. Though i understand this is a open ended question at this point in time, just want to grab the knowledge of PRO's like you on this subject. Hope you help me on this.

Oracle Reports with Oracle Financials (FMIS)

Hi folks,
I'm in a bit of a bind at the moment. I really really need a little help getting an understanding of Oracle Report Writer. The situation is as follows:
I'm currently working on a system that moves data from an SQL Server 7.0 Database into some Oracle Financials (FMIS) Interface Tables. The Interface tables are apparently used to post Customer and Invoicing information into the real Oracle Financials tables, for Invoicing and General Ledger purposes.
Its come to my understanding that Oracle ReportWriter is no longer available on the market today? Is this true? The reason why I ask is, my client is tossing with the idea of using Oracle ReportWriter over Crystal Reports.
The only thing that I have heard is that Oracle Report Writer is a much more powerful tool than Crystal Reports. So I guess the main question would be, is Report Writer a more powerful and easy to use application over other report writing tools?
Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

I believe it is all in the name. Oracle ReportWriter is long gone; however it has evolved to Oracle Reports which is going strong. The current version is Oracle Reports 6i and has been out for more than a year. It was preceeded by Oracle Reports 6.0, 3.0, 2.5, 2.0 and finally ReportWriter1.1,.... The Early versions were packaged in various bundles with our other tools.
Oracle Reports is a very powerful reporting tools and stacks up very well against Crystal. One big advantage is that we work extremely well against an Oracle Database (no external drivers to go through). We also run on a greater variety of machines including Unix. We provide XML output and integration with our other BI tools, Discoverer and Express as well as Oracle Portal. Reports can be deployed over the web using standard CGI/Servlet technology. What exactly are you intending to do to Oracle Apps ? You suggest you are a developer, but Oracle Apps are already developed, by Oracle. Do you want to develop peripheral applications, or become an administrator, or what ?

Oracle Financials 11.0

I am interest in discovering all available APIs that can be invoked by external applications to post data to the Oracle Apps tables. For example, the Oracle Receivables Transaction API can be used to import invoices, credit memos, and debit memos into Oracle Receivables from an external system.
Does a definitive list of Oracle Financials 11.0 APIs exist? If so, where?

Try this query in SQL*Plus connected as user APPS:
Select Object_name
from all_objects
where object_name like '%API%'
and object_type = 'PACKAGE'
This will give you a list of all Packages containing 'API'

Want to learn oracle financials

Hi folks,
My background is in accounting. I have been working in oralce environment (pl/sql) for the past 1.5 yrs. I would like to learn oracle financials but do have the resources to pay for the class. However, if there is a way to learn by buying and learning from books or if I can download (for a minimal fee) can anyone let me know.

I recommend the book "Special Edition: Using Oracle Applications" from QUE Books, available from Amazon.com or other web-book sites. It will cost approximately US $50 +/-. It is a very good overview of each of the applications (Release 10.7 and 11), as well as lots of other information about projects, consulting and consultants, technical issues, etc. Good luck! - Pat

Migrating Oracle WorkFlow Applications to BPEL SOA 11G

Hi Gurus,
I am a SOA developer working on SOA 11g projects , My client has a requirement to migrate the existing Oracle WorkFlow Applications to get migrated to 11G , On Googling i got http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/ias/owf2bpel-132189.pdf which was much informative , since i have no knowledge of Oracle WorkFlow Product , i am finding it hard to migrate these applications.
It would be great if some one can post a conversion of OWF to Bpel tutorial or direct me to location where i can find some , which would save a lot of time for me .

Hi,
While configuring the Oracle Apps Adapter, select the database connection, give the JNDI, then the Oracle Applications Module Browser will appear, make sure you select the correct module here (there will be many like Financials..etc). My suggestion would be, ask the EBS experts as under which module will that API be there ?
If you can get to know under what module it will be there, you need to select that module, and look inside it, it should be there under something like concurrent API's. I have implemented the Oracle Apps adapter many times, so even if you dont find the API, first get to know the container module, then you should be good to go. Also in the step of Module Browser, on the top; you have an option of searching for API's like wild card search etc...
