Oracle Forms : Accesing previous value of a field

I am designing a form which is master detail in the way it looks. Both the blocks are non-database blocks. On the header part there are 2 fields and a button. Based on the values enterd in these fields, when the button is pressed, it populates the fields in the detail block below which is a multiple item block. Now what ever value is displayed in the detail block is editable. What i want is that what ever value is edited by the user should not be more than the initial number value populated initially in that field. Basically what i want is how do i access that previous value in that field which was there before the user edited that field, so that i can put validation checks with that field.
It would be great if any of u can pls help me. Please reach back in case of any clarifications......... waiting for a reply soo........

hello
either you assign the old/original value to a global variable or hidden item or parameter then refer it to the new item value;
after or on populating value :
global.variable := item_value;
validation :
if item_value (EDITTABLE FILED) != global.variable (OLD VALUE) then
end if;

    Hello Amith,
    How does a user perform the modification? Do you already have access to the existing value when the user makes the update? How are you identifying the record to be updated within CRMOD and what method are you using to perform the update?

  • How to design a form to calculate values for various fields

    I have designed a form (in Adobe Live Cycle ES) which has fields for height (in inches), weight (in pounds) and serum creatinine (a decimal field). I have created a field for weight (in kilogram), a field for Body surface area (in m2) and creatinine clearance (in ml/min).
    The weight can be derived by dividing weight in pounds by 2.2
    The body surface area is calculated by
    BSA (m²) = ( [Height(in) x Weight(lbs) ]/ 3131 )½
    The creatinine clearance for males is calculated by
    (140-age) * (Wt in kg) / (72 * Cr) for males
    Creatinine clearance for females
    (140-age) * (Wt in kg) *0.85 / (72 * Cr).
    At another field I want the form to calculate the dosage by simple multipication of BSA with the dose basis or weight with dose basis.
    How can I build an action which will perform these functions and place the value in the appropriate field?
    Can some one help me and tell me the exact steps.
    I would send the form I designed, if asked.
    PS: I do not know java language.

    You should ask this question in the LiveCycle Designer forum.

  • Oracle forms hanging after tabbing off a field

    Hi there,
    Our application is 10gR2. There are several fields on the form and when the user tabs off a particular field (say TextField1), forms hangs up. TextField1 has a LOV associated but since i am clicking on the button of TextField1, the select statement associated with LOV will not be executed right?
    There is no trigger attached to TextField1. This happens only on production and not on development database(replica of production).
    Any suggestions for me???
    Thanks

    the execution plan has nothing to do with tabbing out of a field, it just is determined when the lov-query is executed first.
    but the excution plan of a query is based on alot of information, besides the structure of the database (tables, indexes) it depends to a large amount on the statistics gathered in the database. The gathered statistics contain information of the data content of the tables and, and, and..
    So if the data in your env-environment is very different from the data in your prod-environment, or even if the last gathering of statistics is long ago in your dev, the execution plan can be completly different in two databases although the structure is the same.
    One reason for this problem may be is that in an dev-environment you sometimes have only a "small amount" of data to "save space". This can lead to totally different behaviour between dev-environment and prod-environment.
    hope this helps.

  • Text field highlighting Issue in oracle forms 11g after migrating from 10g

    We have migrated the oracle forms from 10g to 11g.
    On 10g oracle form when I click on the text item then text item value gets hilighted in blue color but after converting same form(without making any code changes) into 11g version form when I click on then text item then value is NOT hilighted.

  • Need profile option for determining DateTime format in Oracle Forms

    Hello All,
    I also have requirement where I need to read the date format in which Oracle Forms displays date values.
    As per updates to [this thread|https://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=10285119] , I just need to read the profile option "ICX: Date format mask" ("ICX_DATE_FORMAT_MASK"), and reformat the date value to my required target format.
    This is good for the date type of fields. But what about the profile option that determines "datetime" formats in Oracle Forms ?
    Appreciate any help.

  • Decimal Point Validation in Oracle Forms 6i

    One of my table has a column named interest. Data type of this column is number (4,1) so it can hold 99.9 and 100 both.
    If user enters 9.99, oracle form accepts the values and rounds it to 10. When scale defined for this data type is 1 so user shouldn’t be allowed entering 2 digits after decimal.
    I would like oracle to give error stating that user can enter upto 1 decimal place only so 9.99 is invalid input. Is there any function in oracle form (D2k)that let you know how many digits user has entered after decimal?
    Is there any function in oracle form (D2k) that let you know the length of input ?

    Hi
    Why don't u use Format mask property for the same,so it will not allow user for wrong i/p
    alternatively use forms message to display pop-up .

    Hi,

  • TO_CHAR FUNCTION IN ORACLE FORM

    HI,
    Table called A has column name col1
    col1
    12563.563
    52685.563
    05263.540
    I would like to use SUBSTR(col1,2,6) for insert values from A table to B table by Oracle form and following values are inserted in B table
    2563.5
    2685.5
    263.4
    If I use SQLPLUS it is inserting as my requirement like
    2563.5
    2685.5
    5263.4
    Third row should be 5263.5 instead of 263.4. In Oracle form may have internal coversion function to convert character value to number values, I do not want to convert the value to number. Both table columns are varchar2 column.
    What is the equal to_char function in Oracle form. If it is NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS, please what are the parameters to be passed along with column.
    Thanks in advance
    Saravanan.

    Hello,
    If you don't want to take account any calculation on the decimal part, you could consider the Trunc() function instead of the To_Char():
    Connected to:
    Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
    SQL> select to_char(52685.563,'00000000.0'), trunc(52685.563,1) from dual
      2  /
    TO_CHAR(526 TRUNC(52685.563,1)
    00052685.6            52685.5

  • I am trying to pass the value of a field from the seeded page /oracle/apps/

    I am trying to pass the value of a field from the seeded page /oracle/apps/asn/opportunity/webui/OpptyDetPG. The value I want is in the VO oracle.apps.asn.opportunity.server.OpportunityDetailsVO and the field PartyName.
    I have created a button on the page whose destination URL is
    OA.jsp?OAFunc=XX_CS_SR_QUERY&CustName={#PartyName}
    It opens the correct page, but in the URL it shows this
    http://aa.com:8005/OA_HTML/OA.jsp?OAFunc=XX_CS_SR_QUERY&CustName=&_ti=1897289736&oapc=177&oas=x5E2TIfP1Y0FykBt1ek4ug..
    You can see that &CustName is not getting the proper value. Do I need to do something different?

    You cannot call the form with OA.jsp . This is applicable only for OAF based pages registered as a function.
    For calling a Form, use the below example:
    You have to change the application responsibility key and form function name .
    "form:PN:PN:STANDARD:XXPNTLEASE:QUERY_LEASE_ID={@QueryLeaseNumber}"

  • How to Return a value to a 10g Oracle Form form a Web Service Call

    I've read the demo available from Oracle, 'Calling a Web service from Oracle Forms', that shows how to invoke a call to a Web Service from a Form. The demo only shows how to do a call and how to display messages. I've done some searching, but can't seem to find any examples of how to return a value from the call into a field on the form. If any one could provide an example of that, I would greatly appreciate it.
    We are in the process of modifing a form and we would like to use a webservice, which we have never done before. We have created a webservice which calculates a value based upon what is entered on the form and we want to pass that calculated value back to a field on the form.
    This is the code provided by the demo to do a call.
    DECLARE
    jo ora_java.jobject;
    xo ora_java.jobject;
    rv varchar2(100);
    ex ora_java.jobject;

    WHEN ORA_JAVA.EXCEPTION_THROWN then

  • Get three previous records of the current record in an Oracle Form

    Hi,
    I need to get three previous records of the current record in an Oracle Form
    Sorry for the lengthy explanation:
    I have a table name: ARCHIVE_DATA with column name: coll_time and its data type DATE.
    SQL> SELECT COLL_TIME FROM ARCHIVE_DATA;
    COLL_TIME
    12-AUG-05
    12-AUG-05
    12-AUG-05
    12-AUG-05
    12-AUG-05
    12-AUG-05
    12-AUG-05
    12-AUG-05
    12-AUG-05
    12-AUG-05
    10 rows selected.
    SQL> select to_char(coll_time,'dd-mon-yyyy:HH:MI:SS') from ARCHIVE_DATA;
    TO_CHAR(COLL_TIME)
    12-aug-2005:02:42:00
    12-aug-2005:02:43:00
    12-aug-2005:02:44:00
    12-aug-2005:02:45:00
    12-aug-2005:02:46:00
    12-aug-2005:02:47:00
    12-aug-2005:02:48:00
    12-aug-2005:02:49:00
    12-aug-2005:02:50:00
    12-aug-2005:02:51:00
    10 rows selected.
    This is the Requirement:
    In a Form's Block(BLK1), for example: the current_record is the fifth record from the top
    (i.e. 12-aug-2005:02:46:00)
    When the fifth record is the current_record and When I click a button, three previous records of the
    current_record should be populated on the screen.
    See what I did:
    I created another table same as the first table(ARCHIVE_DATA) and its name is: THREE_RECS.
    I am inserting three records from the first table(ARCHIVE_DATA) into the second table: THREE_RECS
    which are less than the current record and ORDER BY DESC.
    CANVAS:
    Two blocks (BLK1, BLK2) based on ARCHIVE_DATA and THREE_RECS are on the same CANVAS.
    But the first block (BLK1) which is based on the first table:ARCHIVE_DATA is populated with one record and the
    second block (BLK2) is empty.
    So when I click a particular button (ex: prev_recs), the second block(BLK2) should be populated with
    three previous records of the current record( :BLK1.COLL_TIME)
    (off course :BLK2 populates with one record and use arrows or scrollbar to get the other two records)
    This is the code I wrote in the trigger and followed by the error:
    1 BEGIN
    2 DECLARE
    3 cursor c1 IS
    4           SELECT MONITOR_ID,
    5               SAMPLE_ID,
    6               COLL_TIME,
    7               DEW_POINT
    8          FROM ARCHIVE_DATA;
    9 cursor c2(passing_date IN date) IS
    10           SELECT MONITOR_ID,
    11               SAMPLE_ID,
    12               COLL_TIME,
    13               DEW_POINT
    14          FROM (SELECT MONITOR_ID,
    15               SAMPLE_ID,
    16               COLL_TIME,
    17               DEW_POINT
    18          FROM ARCHIVE_DATA
    19          ORDER BY COLL_TIME desc)
    20      WHERE COLL_TIME < passing_date;
    21     BEGIN
    22     FOR cur_rec in c1
    23     LOOP
    24          IF (cur_rec.COLL_TIME = to_date(:BLK.COLL_TIME,'dd-mon-yyyy:HH24:mi:ss')) then
    25     FOR second_cur_rec in c2(second_cur_rec.COLL_TIME)
    26          LOOP
    27      IF c2%rowcount < 4 then
    28               BEGIN
    29               INSERT INTO THREE_RECS
    30                    values(second_cur_rec.MONITOR_ID,
    31                         second_cur_rec.SAMPLE_ID,
    32                         second_cur_rec.COLL_TIME,
    33                         second_cur_rec.DEW_POINT);
    34               COMMIT;
    35               END IF;
    36 END LOOP;
    37 END IF;
    38 END LOOP;
    39 END;
    40 END;
    This is the error I am getting:
    Error 103 at line 14
    Encountered the symbol "(" when expecting one of the following
    a PL/SQL variable or double quoted string
    an expanded name
    an expanded name link
    a table reference __expression
    a key word
    Resuming parse at line 126, column 46
    Thanks in advance

    Change C2 to:
    cursor c2(passing_date IN date) IS
      SELECT MONITOR_ID, SAMPLE_ID,
                   COLL_TIME, DEW_POINT
        FROM ARCHIVE_DATA
        WHERE COLL_TIME < passing_date
        ORDER BY COLL_TIME desc;And rather than populating a table with the three records, you could just select the three records using: where COLL_TIME between Prev3_time and Prev1_time

  • Form Personalization - Validation for an existing field value can be done?

    Dear All,
    I have a requirement to have a validation on a form value based on its current value.
    The field should be editable as well it should check its current value with the newly eneterd value, which should not be less than the originally displayed value.
    Can I do this through Form Personalization..?
    If Yes how can I do that..? Please update...
    Many thanks.....

    Hi,
    Please see if the examples under the "Validation" section in (Note: 744065.1 - Sample CUSTOM Library Code To Customize Applications) helps.
    Not sure if this can be implemented using personalization, but you may review the documents and see if it helps.
