Oracle Forms invoking an applet!!!

Hi,
I have an applet and a client java file,
using client java file I can invoke an applet, and in developer suite , I have imported the client java file into the forms,
I can see the client package body and spec.
On click of a button I am able to call the client java and this client invokes the applet as well and works fine..I have placed the (fmx)form in forms folder and mysampleapplet.jar and client java file both in the java folder and have added into archive_jine in formsweb.cfg.
All works fine for me in the developer suite,,,but when i copy the same fmx file, mysampleapplet.jar and client java file into an oracle 10.1.2.3 server and then the start the server and click the button, i cant see the applet at all,,,its hanged...
I have added tge mysampleclient.jar in archive_jini in formsweb.cfg file..
Please help me.
Thnx,
Subhash

Hi Craig, was expecting response to
Can I have an example of the same where in i can invoke an applet on the click of a button in the forms and I need to deploy this on Oracle 10.1.2.3 app server.
I just followed the link
http://forms.pjc.bean.over-blog.com/categorie-453384.html , the example works fine ,
So I just added a java class inside my myapplet.jar,,
package oracle.forms.fd;
class Client
public String getVal(String myVar)
MyApplet app = new MyApplet();
String retValue = app.getEncVal(myVar);
return retValue;
My Applet will not be disposed until it returns the retValue;
Based on the link
I did
FBean.Register_Bean('BL1.IMAGEPICKER',1,'oracle.forms.fd.Client');
:BL1.File := FBean.Invoke_char('BL1.IMAGEPICKER',1,'getVal','"Hello World"');
I copied the myapplet.jar into java folder and added to archive_jini in server/formsweb.cfg file.
But this doesnt work at all, :(
Please let me know how to do this,,,I tried even by signing the jar. :(
Thnx,
Subhash
Please let me know whether the approach if fine. I need to deploy this on Oracle 10.1.2.3 app server _

    Hi,
    Copy your image (either .gif or .jpg) in %devsuite_home%/forms/java for example for me it's : C:\oracle\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\java
    Then in your formsweb.cfg point to your image begining with /forms :
    # Forms applet parameter
    background=/forms/java/logocca.gif
    Restart your oc4j
    Launch your application.
    NB : The names are case sensitive, i.e /forms/java/logocca.GIF will not work
    It's important to mention /forms/java/ because your c:/ is not seen by the web server

  • Problem of calling the applet by Oracle Form

    Hi,
    The oracle form invokes a applet function, and send one parameter to the applet. The parameter will be displayed in the applet correctly at the first time.
    But if the user do not close the applet and use invoke the applet function again, the applet cannot show the latest parameter and keep show the old one.
    Please give me some adive.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    This is a JDeveloper help forum, the Formsforum can be found at Forms Now you might think that Forms developers don't understand Java well enough, they do however understand teh Forms context and this is important to answr the question.
    a) Which Java version does your ben require?
    b) Are you using JInitiator or JavaPlugin (Jinitiator only supports Java 1.3)
    c) Is your PJC signed? Note that running an app stand alone as a Java app does not require special grants. Running it within a JavaApplet - as Forms is - does execute teh bean in a security sandbox, for which reasons the jar file must be signed and the public key be available in the Forms certdb.txt file (assuming Jinitiator)
    d) An exception stack trace gives more information than "Oracle Form it doesn't run and exception is thrown on javax.imageio and other packages", which is meanlingless to me and others. Teh stack trace canbe copied from teh JInitiator console
    I recommend resending this question to the Forms forum

    Please advise if there is any work around here.
    Thanks.

    From the last OATS release notes available in the C:\OracleATS\docs directory:
    4.1 Oracle Functional Testing/OpenScript
    Oracle Functional Testing’s OpenScript scripting platform has the following system
    requirements:
    ■ Operating System (32-bit and 64-bit versions): Windows XP, Windows Vista,
    Windows 2003, Windows 7, Windows 2008, Windows 2008 R2.
    ■ Memory: Minimum 1 GB
    ■ System: x86, 32-bit or 64-bit processor, 2.6 GHz or faster
    ■ Disk Space: 4 GB minimum
    ■ Browser: Internet Explorer 7.x, 8.x., 9.x; Firefox 3.5/3.6, 6.x, 10; Chrome 27+
    (playback only).
    ■ Java Runtime Environment: JRE 1.6 minimum (up to build 38), JRE 1.7 (up to build
    11) .
    So basically, it's not supported... Can you try with another JRE version?
    As always don't forget to run OpenScript as administrator on W7/8 or equivalent

  • How to change the parameter's value of Oracle Forms Applet?

    Hello,
    I'm working with Oracle Forms 10.1.2.3.0 and JRE 1.6.0_14, we got some performance issues and we think are related with Java, so we enabled Java trace and we realized that every time user moves the cursor from one item to another, the applet sends a request to the server. This is the request.
    network: Connecting http://server/forms/lservlet;jsessionid=e53bb50b2f95ecb357451bf21a291367cc1747d2d9956b3ba1c4a05916d87d34.e34LaheTahaLai0LaxyLbN4ObxqTe6fznA5Pp7ftolbGmkTy with proxy=DIRECT
    I want to disable these connections as Sun states that sometimes they are not needed (not sure if this is the case but we want to test it).
    I got a possible answer from a Sun forum, the possible fix is to set the following property to false:
    <APPLET ...>
    <PARAM name="codebase_lookup" value="false">
    </APPLET>
    But I don't know how to pass that parameter to Oracle Forms applet.
    Does anybody know?
    Thanks.

    You can try passing the parameter in the HTML template file ... for example in the $ORACLE_HOME/forms/server/basejpi.htm
    i.e.
    <PARAM NAME="TYPE" VALUE="%jpi_mimetype%">
    <PARAM NAME="CODEBASE" VALUE="%codebase%">
    <PARAM NAME="CODE" VALUE="oracle.forms.engine.Main" >
    <PARAM NAME="ARCHIVE" VALUE="%archive%" >
    <PARAM name="codebase_lookup" value="false">
    I have never done it myself so I do not know if it would be recognized though.

  • It looks Oracle Form/Applet  die hard versus J2EE Servlet/JSP/JSF  & AJAX

    I left the form forum for a while and am busy with transfering our Oracle web forms app to Struts based J2EE application (just because the Oracle EE AS is the moving cause, it's out of my control.). After a year or so on J2EE which I enjoyed the fresh OO coding while keep enhancing Oracle webform app in production, I have some thought on Applet vs J2EE JSP/JSF plus AJAX.
    1) JSP itself is hard to avoid the full screen refreshing even though user just does partial changes ,e.g., lists, on the screen, it has to use AJAX to do the tricks. While partial refreshing in applet is natural default behavior.
    2) Forms is really an RAD, while J2EE's IDEs does help a bit(IBM's Websphere v6 even called iRAD) which takes way longer programming time compared to Forms. One IBM's article says it trys to win the Oracle Forms developers by giving the familiar graphical way of drag/drop GUI, so IBM recognizes the RAD coding power of Oracle Forms. So, IBM promotes the RAD similar to Oracle Forms.
    3) GUI/business rules related validation: Applet offered a great advantage over JSP/ even JSF which to avoid the full screen refresh, AJAX/JavaScript is used heavily. User friendly interaction of applet is way better than J2EE.
    4) Browser's back/refresh buttons also are headache to J2EE, expecially we need to support IE and Firefox. Applet basically is not bothered by these buttons.
    Recently, I read techi news said that the new chips will make the network transfer speed 10 time faster than now-even the cell phone transfer the image will be way faster. Then I predict the applet, just like IBM's mainframe, will see its Spring again, not like now in its winter. Especially the Oracle Forms makes coding easier than pure applet coding.
    Oracle folks, kepp beefing up the Oracle Forms, don't just pay attention to JDev. J2EE IDE, most of all, remove the Oracle EE ASxx block, be open. Oracle EE ASxx is really not a pretty baby, even though so Oracle thinks it is.

    1) Why we are transfering your Oracle web forms app to Struts based J2EE application?
    Since our corporate is IBM world-DB2/UDB, WebSphere AS (WAS) etc. It only allows Oracle Forms/reports servers to be compatible with the infrastructure. It does not allow to purchase another EE app server(espeically LDAP). We could not upgrade our forms/reports6i to 9i or 10g.
    2.Therefore the Oracle EE AS is the moving cause, it's out of my control because I did my best to talk to Oracle sales, but no avail. I am glad that I got a good chance to beef up my J2EE Struts skills.
    If extract out the forms/report9i/10g engines from the Oracle EE AS 9i/10g, (don't attempt to bundle sell the EE AS to customers-regardless of the shrinked 9.0.4 forms/reports services version, it's still another EE AS) and make them compatible with other ASs(espcially the LDAP), then Oracle Forms will have more customers.

  • How to invoke crystal reports from Oracle forms 11g R2 along with passing p

    How to invoke crystal reports from Oracle forms 11g R2 along with passing parameter to it.
    how to pass parameters to crystal report, please help.

    how to pass parameters to crystal report, please help.This would entirely depend on crystal reports and you might find informations on crystal reports related communities more likely...I for one have seen crystal reports the last time about 12 years ago. And even back then I simply acknowledged it's existence instead of working with it.
    Maybe crystal reports can be invoked via a URL call which would make it simple as you'd need simply build an URL and show the report using web.show_document. But that's pure speculation. Also you might not be the first with this requirement, so the solution to your problem might be right under your nose and just a little google search away ;)
    cheers

  • Urgent : Communicate from JAVA Applet to Oracle Forms

    Hi All,
    I have developed swing applet. Through this applet I need to start the Oracle Forms on web and access it as well. Is there a way to to this. In this case, Oracle Form is using Global Variables, and the requirement is to set these from my swing applet.

    Many thnx Frank.
    Still little confused. I am J2EE guys and hardly have any understanding on Oracle Forms. I am explaining the requirement in detail so as to you can get an insight into my issue.
    We have a developed a swing Applet, which would be access on web. We have received Oracle Forms from the client, and this has been installed on Oracle10gAS. Our application is installed on the same server. Once user starts interactions with the applet, it will be session based. Also the applet is running at the client end and the form would open at the client end as well. So how is this singleton going to benefit it.
    If the singleton in placed at the server end, how would be maintain the session?
    Can the solution you are mentioning, used in some way to implement SSO, although the login will be done through the applet?
    I am sorry to be a trouble, but if can possibly provide some code snippet, it would be of immense help.
    Thnx a million!
    Regards,
    Rajiv

  • Load: class oracle.forms.engine.Main not found Stuck at loading Java Applet

    Hi there
    I have recently installed App Server 10.1.2.0 on a new machine.
    Copied all my forms to an appropriate directory. Set up formsweb.cfg to allow them to run and have attempted to run them.
    Unfortunately I get stuck at the Loading Java Applet screen, and in the status bar at the bottom it says :
    load: class oracle.forms.engine.Main not found
    I have taken a look at the Java Console, and the 2 things that jump out at me are that it appears to be looking for a forms90 directory, which seems odd since I am using App Server 10.1.2.0.2 and Forms Builder 10.1.2.0.2 meaning it should be looking in a forms directory not forms90 directory shouldnt it ?
    And also, it mentions class with no proxy, so on looking around the forums it has been suggested that put the proxy details into jinitiator, which I have done, but this has made no difference either.
    Can anyone suggest anything else please ?
    Java Console log follows.

  • Forms 11g: Multiple applets same oracle session??

    Hi,
    I am developing an AJAX environment that integrates different technologies, including Forms 11g.
    I need to open multiple forms within the environment, I'm calling to various forms and works fine.
    But the problem is that it opens a database session for each applet that is executed.
    Is it possible to have multiple applets with a unique session of Oracle?
    Did you configure the Forms Service? With the Parameters to environment?
    Thanks in advanced
