Oracle forms Run

Hi,
I am trying to run the forms 10.1 and DB 10.2, on windows XP, but every time there is a message that there are plugins missing, but cannot install them
I installed Netscape navigator for running forms, but the problem is still.....
Thank u
Tasneem

I installed Netscape navigator for running forms, but the problem is still.....What version of Netscape did you install?
I already installed JAVA, but it might be a problem in the explorer!!!I returned to IE to run the forms but there is a message :
Internet Explorer has closed this webpage to help protect your computer >
What Java version did you install and what is your Internet Explorer version? As Christian asked, did you configure your Forms Builder to use the Java Plug-in versus the default Jinitiator? We need to know the versions as there might be specific configuration steps for the version you are using.
And ignore this:
you need to replace jvm file, i will sent it to your email and replace it in this path:This is a HACK and not supported by Oracle!
Based on the information in your post, I was say that you haven't correctly configured Forms Builder to run forms. Take a look at the link Christian provided. You will need to modify the "formsweb.cfg" file to reflect the Java Version you installed and you will need to change the baseHTMLjinitiator variable so it points to the basejpi.htm file so Forms will use the Java Plug-in.
# System parameter: base HTML file for use with JInitiator client
#baseHTMLjinitiator=basejini.htm
baseHTMLjinitiator=basejpi.htmRemember, when Oracle released Forms 10g Jinitiator was still the preferred JRE. Consequently, it defaults to looking for the Jinitiator. By changing this variable you don't have to pass JPI as a parameter in the runtime URL.
Hope this helps,

  • Call Oracle Help for Java in Oracle forms running in the web

    Hi, everyone,
We are developing a web-enabled Oracle database application
system. Oracle suggested us to use Oracle Help for Java(OHJ) to
create an online help system for the web environment. We
successfully created a OHJ program which can be independently.
But we still have no idea how to call this OHJ program from the
forms running in the web environment.
    Could anyone help us out?
    Thanks.

I would like to know if anyone has been able to do this too. Could someone respond if they have successfully gotten this to work?

  • How to retrieve information on UNIX Host from oracle Forms

    Hi,
Has anybody tried to retrieve manipulated information

I can only tell you what we've done for our system. We have
client applications which need to send/recv information from the
    UNIX server (report submission, etc.)
We have a deamon (written in PRO*C) which runs on the UNIX
server. This deamon constantly monitors a pipe (using the
DBMS_PIPE package available with ORACLE 7.1). The client apps.
send requests through this pipe and wait for the server deamon to
process the request and send responses down a "return pipe".
This approach has served us well.
With ORACLE 8, you can (according to what I've read) link
external object modules (similar to ORA_FFI on the client), which
would make these OS specific functions available to the database
developer via PL/SQL but we're just now looking at ORACLE 8 so I
have no first hand experience with this.

  • Oracle Forms Developer/Services 6i Release 2 for Linux install help

I've downloaded the tar.gz file and extracted it. Im a linux newbie and dont know much about linux. I've installed several files already but in this particular case, I dont know how to install a program with a tar.gz format. Im using ubuntu by the way and I have oracle forms running on WINE. I want to install the linux version so it will run natively.

    Hi,
First use gunzip utility to unzip .gz file. Once you are done, you will get a .tar file. Use tar -xvf to untar the file to a directory. It is similar to unzip.

  • Oracle forms is this possible?!?

    hi, all.
I am a java developer and i am not familiar with oracle forms 10g.
Recently i had a project about digital signing of web forms(on java). So the idea was: We have applet that runs in the client browser, it uses the JSObject to collect all input fields and it's values from CUSTOM web form and create xml document, that must be signed. This applet is like a lib.
I must do the same thing with a oracle form.
Is this possible: collect the oracle form's items on the client??? The form is custom i.e. unspecified items and count items.
If this is possible the next step is to verify the signed xml on the server. So how does oracle forms work. Is there a server side. What is the architecture? Could the xml be passed to the server and how the oracle form's items must be accessed on the server(i need them to verify the xml).
I will be glad if you could help me soon.
Excuse me for my bad english :(.
    Best regards.

What do you mean? :( As i said i am not very familiar with oracle forms.
Here is simple scenario of usage:
Oracle developer creates a oracle form. In some way i have to deliver for example jar. He adds it to to his project and in some way specifies that that jar signes his form.
The form is in module so i guess i have access to it.
What i learned for now is that there are VBeans that could help to do this(item collection). I found that this beans are graphical components too i.e. we can place awt Componets in them, but may be i don't need to use them. I read that the VBean is on the middle trier, but when i wirte JOptionPane.showMessage(..) it is displayed on the client i can't understand why. I need to collect the items in the form not in the bean.
The question is can i collect in some way the form's items on the client. Oracle form runs in some applet could this help me? Totally confused. The documentation for oracle forms is very unclear for me.
I forgot to say that there are some classes in the oracle forms lib like "RadioButtonItem", TextFieldItem and so on. Are theze coresponding to form items? May do some connection between them?!?

  • Show the print dialog when running a report from an Oracle form.

I would like to be able to print an Oracle report from an Oracle form but

  • In Oracle Forms, to run all the When-Validate-Item of all the items at once

In Oracle Forms, is there any built-in / procedure / function which is used to run all the When-Validate-Item triggers of all the Items at once ?
I will put it in detail :
When a form is run and while entering the data..
when we enter some data and try to move out of that item then the When-Validate-Item trigger of that item is fired and the code in that trigger is executed..
Similarly there may be many items and many When-Validate-Item triggers correspondigly in a form..
My requirement is to run all the When-Validate-Item triggers of a form at once when we click a button which is created for that purpose only..
So is there any built-in / procedure / function (to run all the When-Validate-Item triggers of all the items), which can be called in the When-Button-Pressed trigger of that particular button..
If any one having any solution/suggestion, please let me know..
    Thanks..

    Hi Sandy,
    Thanks for your suggestion..
The validations should be done at Item level (When-Validate-Item as usually) and seperately again when a button is pressed.
So to put all the code in another block-level When-Validate-Item trigger or in any When-Button-Pressed trigger will be duplication of the code.
Actually I have around 30 Fmbs to be modified and each Fmb is having around 20 Items and almost all Items are having When-Validate-Item trigger.
So,I wanted to know whether there is any Built-in / Procedure in Oracle Forms which runs all the When-Validate-Item triggers once it is called.
    Thanks..

  • How to run an XML Report from Oracle Forms 10G

    Hello Friends,
I am in need of showing a xml report output through a button press trigger in Oracle Forms10G.
I have designed the report in XML Publisher and the report looks fine.I found few scripts useful in running the Oracle Report from Oracle forms10G like Run_Report_Object.But I am not aware of any script that could run a XML report and show the output directly from a Form.
All I want is to run a XML report from an Oracle Form with a button press trigger and show the output in an html version.
    Can this be achieved?
If so, Kindly advise as this is an immediate work.
    Regards,
    Badrul.

    Hi,
If I am not wrong the XML publisher is same as BI publisher ...
There is one document which explains how to integrate using web service
    You want to check this

or you can also try web.show_document ..

what can i do to run those forms?

You can also refer to this OTN reference:
Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.2) Certification Matrix
    Other comments:
    1.  I would not recommend using Forms 10.1.2.0 with Oracle DB 11.2.x.  Patching Oracle Forms to 10.1.2.3 would be recommended.  Using version Forms 11 would be better.
    2.  Attempting to use the Developer Tools on Windows 7 is not a great idea although it can be made to work.  Developer Suite 10 is no longer supported and was never really intended for use on Win7.  Again, patching to 10.1.2.3 is recommended and required if you plan to follow the Oracle instructions and certifications.
    3.  Installing the Forms Builder (Developer Suite) on Win7-64bit is not at all certified and was never supported.
    4.  Using Java 7 was not certified and therefore not supported for use with Forms 10.x
In general, Forms 10.1.2.x has been desupported.  Customer using this version or older should be working on a migration plan for getting to the latest supported version which is 11.1.2.1.

  • How to avoid IE pop-ups when running BIP reports(w/ SSO) from Oracle Forms?

    Hi all,
We have an OID/SSO integrated Oracle Forms and BI Publisher environment in place. We/users expect the same behavior when running Oracle Reports or BIP reports from Oracle Forms... which means receiving no intermediate pop-ups and simply getting the report output to appear in the relevant target application(PDF, EXCEL, etc). Currently we get multiple security warnings when running BIP reports from Oracle Forms.
    Here's a list of Pop-ups contents:
    1. "File Download - Security Warning" Do you want to open or save this file? -> OPEN
    2. "File Download" Do you want to save this file? Name = ma01r500.pdf -> YES
    3. "Save AS" -> pick desktop and save.
    4. "Download Complete" -> OPEN
We have experimented with setting various IE security settings to LOW/enabled and still get these pop-ups.
    Any suggestions is much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Yahya

FYI... Metalink Note 282996.1 has resolved the bigger issue with the extra pop-ups with SSO enabled environment.
    Cause:
Internet Explorer (IE) has to cache PDF files in a temporary directory prior to opening the file. Without this IE cannot process PDF files. With SSO protected pages, the header cache settings are set to no-cache which prevents IE from downloading PDF files.
    Solution:
In mod_osso.conf use the entry "OssoSendCacheHeaders off" which tells mod_osso to turn off all no-cache related headers, which the enables Internet Explorer to be cache the file in a temporary directory.
Now I am not sure if anybody has any thoughts/suggestions as how we might be able to resolve this issue where Oracle Reports WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT calls have no pop-ups so ideally BIP reports WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT calls should behave the same as both are calls from Oracle Forms.
But at least now our SSO enabled environment and un-secure DEV/UAT behave the same with a single pop-up. Ideally the users shouldn't have to come across this intermediate pop-up to open(save/cancel being the other options) the document(just like Oracle Reports calls).

This tells me you are using a 3rd party or locally developed Java Bean to perform some type of print function. Is this correct?
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: java.io.IOException: open HTTP connection failed.Does your printtext.jar Java Bean need to open an HTTP connection in order to print?
Have you been able to print in the past using this Java Bean? Where did you get the Java Bean?

  • Is a 512MB, Celeron PC good enough to run Oracle Forms

    Hi:
I was curious and would like to know if anybody knows if a 512 MB RAM, Intel Celeron DELL PC is sufficient to run 3 Oracle Forms sessions for a Call Center application.
Does anybody out there have a similar app out there and would be willing to share their PC configurations?
    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Hi Steve:
Yes, we learned early on (about 16 months ago) that launching a second session off the same browser is an issue. I believe its has to do with the JVM only getting so much memory allocated and thus when you have more that one session, you reach a limit faster and furthermore, one sessions drags the other one (or something like that). I do not know if you noticed (from some of my other posts) or remember me from last year but our app has been unstable ever since its introduction into production. If this memory limit theory of mine is true, it is conceptually possible that our app becomes unstable when a limit is reached. I am trying to find if there is a way to overcome this limit.
From last years observations, I noticed that a user with a current PC (at least 1GB RAM and at Pentium 4) experienced issues once every couple of weeks which is far better than a typical CSR (which uses 512MB RAM and Celeron processor)which experiences issues at least twice a day. I am trying to find, if it exists, documentation or solid proof that for usage described the better PC is needed, to at least justify a controlled test.
Our CSRs like to have at least three sessions open because that way they can switch and perform different lookups.
In order to avoid users opening from the same browser, we set them up with a launching executable that makes sure a new browser is open and just in case, they attempt to go around that, we installed (I believe Javascript) logic that check for the browser already running an instance of the app.
