Oracle Help Window Hides Behind App

Hi,
I'm using Oracle help 4.2, although this problem occurred in 4.1.16 as well. JDK v1.4.1.
When I select help from our menu, the Help window displays, and then immediately jumps behind our application. If I move the mouse slightly after selecting Help, or if I use F1 the Help window stays on top like it should. The application is an MDI app and an internal frame is active when Help is launched. Not sure if this is related in any way, but I mention it because it is the only thing I can think could be different. I'm not doing anything tricky with Oracle Help. This is how I am launching the window:
* Displays the help browser for the given topic.
* @param topicKey
public void showTopic(String topicKey) {
// Default to the main help screen. This is shown when there is no
// frame dislayed.
String helpKey = HELP_MAIN_KEY;
// Validate the key coming in
if ((topicKey != null) && !("".equals(topicKey.trim()))){
helpKey = topicKey;
// Show the selected topic
try {
helpObject_.showTopic(helpSet_, helpKey);
} catch (Exception e) {
// Should never happen
JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(FrontPage.getInstance(),
ERR_2, TITLE, JOptionPane.ERROR_MESSAGE);
At this point I'm completely at a loss for why this occurs. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Daniel Spiess

There are lot of options to customize the behavior of jQuery dialog. You can set height as auto, however you need to specify some fixed width depending on the content.
$( "#TEST_POPUP" ).dialog({ height: "auto", width:500 });Default for height is auto, so you may not need to specify it.
See http://docs.jquery.com/UI/Dialog for more info.

  • Fix Facebook like issue - comment window hides behind other objects

    On my site htt://cocos-locos.com is a Facebook like widget.  When a user clicks on the widget, the comment app hides behind a text box on the page.  I tried moving it and no matter where this happens, BUT ONLY ON MY IPAD MINI.  It opens in a pop-up window on the computer.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

    So, when a new file was analyzed and bpm with key values written into 'comment' field, Windows Explorer don't show it.
    That field is not a default column.  Do you have it checked in Details view?  Right-click a column header in Details view or use Alt-V A (apparently) to add columns.  Heh.  Then there is a different UI depending on how you opened that
    dialog.  More... for the right-click method  Choose columns... for the View, Add columns method.  YMMV.  Who knew?

  • ACR window hides behind dock?

    I have recently reinstalled Photoshop CS5 after reinstalling Snow Leopard and now when I open Camera RAW the bottom of the ACR window where the Open/Done buttons appear are hidden behind the dock.  This didn't used to be a problem.  If I grab the bottom right corner of the window I can only alter it's width... not it's height to lift it above the dock to reveal the buttons.   If I double click on the stripey bit of the bottom right corner of the ACR window it resizes so that the buttons are no longer hidden but it's a bit of a hit and miss solution... for some reason it doesn't always work.
    Does anyone have any suggestions please as this is driving me mad and most annoyingly it didn't use to be a problem.

    That's the first thing I do anyway.  I can't think of a single thing that is more obnoxious, annoying and distracting than the multi-colored Dock at the bottom of my screen, and it definitely interferes with my perception of color in the image(s) I'm working on.
    If you think that the sight of other colors does not interfere with your perception of color(s), you're dead wrong.
    For an extreme example, take a look at the image below.  The seemingly blue and the seemingly green spirals are EXACTLY the same color.

  • Help: Window Sitting Behind Toolbar

    Within the last week, all my InDesign CS4 windows now sit behind my Toolbar Pallete. I'm not sure what I might have hit to do this, but it is very annoying. Can anyone help me fix this so I don't have to move it manually?
    This is what is happening now:
    This is how I want it to be, and how it used to open automatically:
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Pick the header of your toolbar and stick it to the left of your screen until you see a blue line. Then let go.

  • WebHelp - With help window open, second application click does not bring help window back into focus

    Hello all,
    Using RH11 to create context sensitive WebHelp for use with apigee-to-go console.
    Console allows URL calls to launch help in a new browser window (named within the help project).  Works fine except that the browser help window does not regain focus when subsequent context calls are made from the application.
    Steps:
    With application running in a browser window, I click a help link.  New browser window opens with correct help topic displayed.
    Return to application without closing help window.  Application window takes focus; help window moves to back.
    I click another help link. Help window does not regain focus.  However, it DOES move to the correct topic.
    I've tried lots of things.  Nothing seems to fix this.
    For reference, my context call looks like this:
    http://<URL>/index.htm#<id=37>>wnd=HelpPopup
    Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
    Jeff Seltzer

    Thanks for the responses, but this doesn't really help.
    I'm using a simple URL to make the call.
    (That's all I can do within the web app API console I'm working with.)
    If I knew how to crack open all of the javascript that RH creates (and had that much time to work on it), I'd try to address it.
    I have to give up for now.
    I've just appended >>newwnd=false to the end of my calls, so the help appears in another browser tab, rather than its own window.
    This isn't great, since each call opens a new tab, but that's better than the help window disappearing behind the sea of open windows most of us have going on, only to cause the user to hunt for it (if they even know it's there).
    So, <URL>/index.htm#<id=37>>wnd=HelpPopup
    becomes <URL>/index.htm#<id=37>>wnd=HelpPopup>>newwnd=false
    Thanks all for your pointers.
    If I ever find the time to really work on this issue, I'll post a fix (if there is one).
    (Again, I suspect this is just buggy RH javascript.  RH knows enough to update the contents of the help/browser window, but not enough to focus it.)

  • Installation Problem Developer 6i/Oracle 8/Windows NT4 Please help.

    Hi,
    I am trying to install Oracle Developer 6i and Oracle 8
    under Windows NT platform. I had several kind of problem. Atlast
    I found the installation tips very help and followed it step by
    step. Still I am facing the problem. Let me explain what i did,
    step by step,
    1.downloaded the Oracle forms self extract file. Unzipped. Ran
    the Setup.exe.
    2.This prepared for Oracle Developer installation. I selected
    default path and home(d:\ORANT and home_Default). Selected
    oracle forms and installed it.
    3.Repeated step 2 to install reports 6i.
    4.Restarted the system.
    5.Created another directory d:\orantnew
    6.Used the Oracle 8 CD and installed using the Autorun.Selected
    different path and oracle Home this time.(D:\orantnew and
    home_New).
    7. Selected the Oracle Enterprise Edition option and did the
    installation.Rebooted the system.
    8. Did the TCP/IP changes explained in the Step (5) and Step (6)
    given below in Mr.Krishna's reply.
    9. Tried to start the listner by following Step (7) the listener
    won't start.
    10. Went ahead and copied the TNSNAMES.
    Connected to SQL*Plus using Start/Program/Oracle-OracntNew using
    SCOTT/TIGER and connect went thru.
    Then tried "CONNECT" from form builder, won't connect. I think
    the error message was some thing related to TNS..(Since I have
    uninstalled all the Oracle components now i can't give the exact
    error.Sorry). I would like to know if there is anything I am
    doing wrong or missing out something.
    Note : While uninstalling the oracle components i had problem
    removing the bin directory. So I had to stop some of the
    services
    (OracleServiceORC1 and OracleStartORC1 from
    start/controlpanel/services option) in order to delete the
    oracle components.
    Please someone let me know how can I install Oracle 8 and Oracle
    Developer 6i,in windows NT platform.
    Incase if i am doing anything wrong in the above given step or
    missing out something pl let me know.
    Thanks.

    Hi, >Try these steps, but you need to change a few things for Win2000 even I am trying, but Listener does'nt start there is a
    problem I am looking into it, If you find the solution pl let me
    know, these work fine on Win95/98 I have tried and they all work

    combinations may or may not work.> If you want to install
    designer as well, do it now.
    ** Clean all Oracles off the computer using the following instructions. (Windows 95 and
    Windows 98)
    1. In regedit, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE.
    2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ORACLE
    3. Delete the ORACLE key.
    4. Delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC pertaining to Oracle.
    5. Delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ODBC pertaining to Oracle.
    6. Edit your AUTOEXE.BAT file and remove your %ORACLE_HOME%\bin and JRE paths from the path settings.
    7. From the Windows Explorer (or from the command prompt), delete the Oracle Directory
    (Oracle Base).
    8. Delete < System_Drive > C:\Program Files\Oracle (from the Windows NT Explorer or from the command
    prompt).
    9. Delete Icons from < System_Drive> C:\Windows\StartMenu\Programs\Oracle - <HOME> and <System_Drive>
    C:\Windows\StartMenu\Oracle Installation Products. Where<HOME>
    is the previous HOME name.
    10. Reboot the system.
    Installing Developer 6i(Forms and Reports)
    1. Download the file from OTN site or Install from the CD. Install the installer. It will go
    into a new default Oracle home that it will create. When you go
    to install your Developer CD, close the installer that comes up
    with the CD autorun. Go to the programs menu and Oracle for
    Windows 95 and click on the installer there. Once it is open,
    browse to the CD you wish to install. (installr/install/us)
    2. Start installer. Install Developer 6i first to default directory, Orawin95 How? Start installer, follow the prompts
    that appear on the screen, you may have to do this twice, once
    for Oracle Forms and once for Oracle Reports, after the
    installation is successful reboot the system.
    3. If you want to install Designer 6 as well, do it now. (But I have not installed
    the Designer ) Designer has to be installed before PO 8. 1. 6,
    because PO816 can detect only one Oracle_home.
    4. Create a new folder on your root directory called Orawin98. Start the installer set-up from where you downloaded it and
    select Orawin98 to install it in this time. You also need to
    give this second home a name whatever you want, but through out
    the process, you have to use the identical name, that is
    critical. Orawin98 indicates this name in these instructions. Do
    not reboot. Install Oracle 8.1.6 to the directory Orawin98 using
    the installer. Reboot the system.
    5. Go to Start/Setting/Control Panel/Network, if you do not have TCP/IP installed, install it
    now, if you do, highlight TCP/IP, click properties. Select DNS
    tab, select enable DNS, at the host area, type "Orawin98", leave
    domain empty. Go to Identification Tab and enter your database
    name, in this case BBM. Reboot the system after you finish.
    6. Configure your database listener. Go to Start/Programs/Oracle- Orawin98/Network Admistration/Net8
    Assistant, a window will pop
    up, at the window expand Local and expand Listeners and double
    click it, you will see a new window, go through all the tab
    menus. At location address 1, Host name: use "Orawin98", Port
    use: 1521 (default). And at location address 2, Host name:
    use "Orawin98", Port use: 2481, go to the file/ save, close Net8
    Assistant.
    7. Start listener how? Go to Dos Window, type LSNRCTL, return, at LSNRCTL>, type Start. Listener should start
    successfully, if not, you need to go back to Net8 Assistant to
    check configuration.
    8. Copy file "TNSNAMES" in directory C:\Orawin98\Net80\Admin to C:\oraein95\Net80\Admin.
    9. You are finished.
    10. To connect Forms/Reports/SQLPLUS to database - First start the
    Listener, then start the database. Next, go to File menu in
    Forms/Reports and select Connect. Type in user name and password
    (system/manager or whatever) in this case it is SCOTT/TIGER and
    the database name is your "DATABASENAME". When you want to quit
    you need to exit from file menu of Forms/Reports, then you need
    to stop Listener and then shut down database.
    11. You can rename your computer name in your original name. (for local networks)
    Let me know if it is working.>null

    Install Forms in one directory (You can have reports in the same
    directory).
    Install oracle DB in another directory.
    Don't change any file and reboot.
    The listener will start automatically as a service.
    (If not from a command line write "lsnrctl start" to start it).
    To connect from forms/report to the DB you need to activate the
    sqlnet easy config tool from the directory where forms is.
    Follow the wizard to define an entry in the tnsnames.ora file
    automatically.
    Then you can use your forms with the DB.
    (IF you get problems it usually helps to let us know the error
    code you get so we can direct you in the correct direction).

  • Is it possible to make the document window not to hide behind the palettes?

    Is it possible to make the document window not to hide behind the palettes (layers, paths etc) like in CS5? For instance if I want to make a correction in the right part of the image and zoom in, the window expand under the different palettes and I can no longer see the area which I want to correct without change the document window size. I don't want to use the Photoshop application fram because then I can't see stuff in other applications ID, mail an so on.

    I have written about how to control various font sizes in Thunderbird here:
    http://www.ramsden.org.uk/9_Type_sizes.html
    Generally, you shouldn't need to zoom; you can pre-set the display of message text.
    To get straight to the point, you should probably try the https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/addon/theme-font-size-changer/ add-on to address issues with the size of the message list font.

  • Context Help window is not displaying any information in Stand Alone App

    The context help window displays the vi description, as desired) when running in the development environment.  However after building the Stand Alone app, while the I can open the context help window using Ctl-H or the front panel  menu Help , the help window in empty.  The mouse cursor changes to a "hand" while hovering over the icon pic in the upper right hand corner of the Front Panel but does not invoke any change in the help window.
    I am using the same PC for development and check out of the Stand Alone app.
    Any ideas out there?
    Mike

    Mike,
    Yes, you should be able to zip it or just change the extension and we can change it back. In the mean time I have replicated what you are talking about with a simple executable. However, I think this might be expected behavior. After all, your executable is not a VI anymore. You can also make a product suggestion to have this changed.

  • Log window - can no longer "hide" behind sqldeveloper window???

    Searched the archvies but no luck...
    In the previous version I could undock the log window and (by clicking on the main sqldeveloper window) "hide" it behind the main window. After execution of a procedure (and also after compiling with errors I believe) it would automatically raise to the top... This maximized the usable area on the main window and didn't require clicking the min/max buttons on the log window.
    The current version does not let you push the log window back - it stays on top at all times...
    Any work around for this to regain the old behavior?
    Thanks,

    It may not be exactly what you want, but I found the following (I thought that I remembered this being raised before):

    What you have experienced, though annoying, doesn't necessarily mean someone has hacked your account, though if you were finding that you were blocked because the sending limit had been reached that might indicate that you had been hacked.
    What can happen is that when people receive emails which appear to come from their own address but they haven't sent they naturally tend to be concerned: however it's most unlikely that anyone has hacked their account, they've just been targeted by one of two common spammers' techniques: both arise because it's all too easy to forge the 'from' address on messages to be something other than the real one.
    There are two methods. One is that the sender has forged the 'from' address to be the same as the 'to' address (so other people will see it coming from themselves, not you), presumably in the hope of confusing spam filters. It's harmless, if extremely annoying. Delete it (never ever answer spam or try to unsubscribe from it), and you don't need to be worried about it.
    The other problem is that a spammer is forging your address as the 'from' address on a whole batch of messages. The first thing you hear about this is when you start getting bounce messages because the spam has been sent to non-existent addresses and is being bounced to you. There's no point at all in responding to it. It's infuriating but normally stops after a bit as they move on to another forged address.
    There isn't really anything you can do about it: closing the account isn't really worth the hassle unless you are totally swamped, because you will have to tell everyone your new address. Apple can't really do any more than they already are about spam. However changing your password on general principles is a good idea.

  • Help windows always foremost

    I use Help frequently, particularly with a new system but also with applications. In Leopard the Help window is always on top. Often I find myself in the position of wishing to keep the Help file available but have an application window come to the front to work in the app. While the window of said app will become active the Help window always floats on top. I find it very annoying.
    Is there a preference to change that behavior? A hack?
    thanks

    I too think this behavior is goofy in the extreme. You have the Help window open so you can work back and forth between Help and whatever you are doing: if the Help window is always on top you can't see what you are trying to do. What were they thinking? I was unable to find any way to fix this, although there might be such a way by modifying a plist somewhere and tell it to turn off always frontmost. Afraid I'm not enough of a hacker to know how one would go about this. Let's hope somewhere there is such a hacker who is annoyed enough to do it. You can't even hide the thing, it is always frontmost and will not hide, the best you can do is minimize it to the Dock. Sent feedback to Apple about this:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html/
    At the moment that's best we can do.

  • "help" windows help

    When I click on the help button in the menu bar under an app such as safari or itunes, the help menu is on top of other windows and i cannot get the other windows to come to the front without closing the help window. I would like to leave the window open, so i can refer back to it while working in the app. Any help would be great, thanks.

    A very simple Terminal command will bring back the old behavior. Just launch Terminal from your Utilities, then copy and paste this:
    defaults write com.apple.helpviewer NormalWindow -bool true
    Press the Return key. That's it. Help windows will stay behind the other windows until you click on them to bring them forward. But be sure to give Apple some feedback about how idiotic the default behavior is.

    While doing a clean install may be the final solution know that you have to visit multiple locations on your drive to "properly' remove DVDSP. There is a technote on this topic. An incomplete removal only seems to complicate things.
    Create a new account as Hal has suggested and see what happens. If it does not work focus on getting the current DVDSP off the drive(leaving other pro apps in place), ditch preferences, and fix permissions.
    Using both accounts do a random check of the remianing apps to make sure there is not a complex issue happing on your drive.
    Reinstall DVDSP but open the app (not your project) first in the new account. If all si well then do the same for your account.
    If all remains well then open your project. If it works then you are gold; if it doesn't at least you have knowledge that something within your project is off balance.
    OT: This is one of those "dark arts" ideas that seems logical to me but has no practical justification. With DVDSP off take your project folder and move it to the Public folder. Then fire up DVDSP and open the project. You'll get the broken links message so point to the new location and let the links rebuild. This task might fix things behind the scenes.
