Oracle instance terminated with no error in Event Log
Hi all,
We are running ASP with VB COM 6.0 via Oracle Service for MTS against Oracle DB 8.1.7.4.1. As we always found the IIS down with error "New transaction cannot enlist in the specified transaction coordinator." in IIS server. At the same time, we found lots of error "Oracle Instance has been terminated" in event logs. However, we didn't find any error in alert log or trace file. Can anyone help to tell what's the instance error?
Also, we are running oracle client 8.1.7.4.7 and OraMTS 8.1.7.1.0.
If possible, please also help to solve the error "New transaction cannot enlist in the specified transaction coordinator.".

Are you able to get the explain plan of the same statement directly at the sql*plus prompt?
This could be related to the bug:
Bug 3043373 : Abstract: MALFORMED EXECUTION PLAN IN V$SQL_PLAN WITH FILTER OPERATIONS
There is a patch available on top of the 9.2.0.6 version. The bug has been filed on the base data dictionary views in the database. To confirm, I would suggest that you verify the problem from sql*plus first.

I'm using Enterprise Linux Red hat 5 (OS), oracle 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0)
while startup the database I'm getting below error message.

In alert log file having message, Redo log file s corrupted.
I try to recover the redo log,using
allow_resetlogs_corruption=True parameter in pfile.
and start the DB in mount stage,and

and tried to rman incomplete recovery i cant solve issue

Just try to read the logs and also trace files,
reason for failure can be known through alertlog file,
try to post the error specified in alert<SID>.log located
in the saptrace/background directory

I have following scenario.
I have setup dataguard in which Primary and standby are of diffrent oracle releases.
PRimary database : 10.2.0.1.0
Stand by : 10.2.0.4.0
Primary database - Windows 2000
Standby : Windows -2008
I have sync both database in mount mode.
But when I tried to open stand by database it is giving below error.
ORA-01092: ORACLE instance terminated Disconnection forced on standby

Dear Sir/Madam
We were having Oracle 8.1.5 server in WinNT 4.0 with 1GB RAM and 52GB HD.
Our sites has more than 30 users and we were having the application in PB.In our place Database Instance Terminating at frequent intervals.When I monitored the Alrt File is shows Instance termination by following Background process(CKPT,DBW0,LOWR ETC).Please provide us a good solution to solve this problem.

What I can guess is this all is happenning because system datafile OS block got currupted....is it so or some other reason?....and how to resolve this issue?Hi,
Since it is system tablespace, you can't open the DB. If you can't open the db you can't use dbms_repair. Also DBV doesn't change the content of the file so that also not going to help.
So only open left is to do point in time recovery.

Please let me know whether I can directly start the services using "net start <myservicesName>" or any other steps need to be followed.I could see the Oracle Instance is running in the services.msc but when I am trying to connect it throwing "ORACLE instance terminated. I am in process of creating oracle database with my other databse template.
But when i click on finish, i got the error like ORA 1092 Oracle instance terminated.
And database creation fails.
What are the probable solutions?

I have the database on oracle 9.2.0.6 and I get this error when I try to start the database with the spfile..
ORACLE instance started.
Database mounted.
ORA-01092: ORACLE instance terminated. Disconnection forced.
But When I try to startup with the pfile it works fine.
startup pfile ='?/dbs/inittracka.ora'
ORACLE instance started.
Database mounted.
Database opened.
Any help is appreciated.

First, the earlier poster was correct: the reason for the disconnection is most likely to be visible in quite plain text in the alert log, so check that.
Second, the specific error you cite is very commonly caused by having a value for the UNDO_TABLESPACE parameter which isn't the correct one. If you say UNDO_TABLESPACE=UNDO1, for example, when the tablespace is actually called UNDOTBS1.
Since the error happens differently depending on whether you're using an spfile or an init.ora, it would suggest that the value for that parameter is set differently in the two files. You can vi or cat the spfile to inspect its contents (just don't save it again afterwards!) and check what it has for that parameter.
Since the pfile works fine, you could contemplate getting into sqlplus and saying 'create spfile from pfile', but I'd worry about over-writing a lot of good values in the current spfile by doing that, as well as the dodgy one for the undo tablespace that you are wanting to be rid of. So go carefully! (And anyone who advises you to just create an spfile without a lot of warnings and suggestions to think carefully about what you're doing is being reckless). -

Its really very difficult to tell you what exactly went wrong with the limited information given by you. Did you check the alert log and other cluster (crsd and cssd ) logs? If not, I would strongly recommend you to pay attention to these logs for any clue.
