Oracle JSP engine on Apache

Hi,
We have Apache Web server 1.3.9 and Jserv 1.1b3. On top of this, we have installed Oracle JSP engine. We have put the names of all the required jar files and directories in jserv.properties file. But, when we try to access any jsp files from a browser we are getting following error:
Request URI: /test.jsp
Exception:
oracle.jsp.provider.JspCompileException:
Errors compiling: d:\demos\apache\htdocs\_pages\test.java
Package javax.servlet.jsp not found in import. import javax.servlet.jsp.*;
Any idea why this error is happening.
Thanks in advance,
null

Apache JServ implements Servlet 2.0 -- this class library doesn't contain the JSP interface classes. The JSP interface classes are contained in the JSWDK 1.0 (or greater) available from Sun. Download and configure Apache to use this class library AFTER the reference to the servlet 2.0 class library. For more information please check out the Documentation section for JSPs on technet. It contains specific information on configuring/installing for Apache.

  • Upgrading Oracle JSP Engine to 1.1.2

I'm trying to upgrade Oracle JSP Engine from 1.1.0.0.0 (which comes with Oracle 8.1.7) to 1.1.2.
I've downloaded new version from OTN and I used loadjava to update classes in the database. Now I'm trying to use ncomp to natively compile classes (like I've read in the Releases Notes) but I'm getting:

    Welcome to the discussions!
Adding RAM is the quickest and cheapest way to get a performance boost. As mentioned, the apps you use are not universal and will run through the Rosetta translator which is a rather RAM intensive operation.
My suggestion is to get at least 1GB and if it is not too much of a stretch to get 2GB. RAM is relatively inexpensive now and the benefits will be seen immediately.

  • Re: execution problem with oracle jsp under apache

i followed the instruction to install oracle jsp running on apache 1.3.9 and apacheJServ/1.1b3 under win nt 4.0 with sp5. i created a servlet zone to hold the jsp file but for some reason it will not look the the dir specified in the jserv.conf. it look at the dir under apache document root dir.. therefore, i created a dir under the apache root dir and then it was able to compile the hellouser.jsp correctly. when i run lotto.jsp, the image files would not display. why?

Apache Servlet zones allow you separate servlet (sets) into distinct classloaders. The OJSP servlet needs to exist in a servlet zone. However the content the OJSP servlet operates on (the .jsp file) lives in the document root directory just like your other web content. OJSP does support a configuration/init parameter whereby you can explicitly specify a physical directory other than what is mapped via the Apache settings. Please consult the documentation if you want to do this.
As for why the lottery images aren't being displayed, more information is needed. The generated page should create local references to the images files. Are the images in where they are expected to be? Can you be more explicit about the URI you send and the physical structure of the Lottery sample in the file system?

    >> ODBC Driver Manager ... Data source name not found
That appears to be ODBC drivers looking for a DSN (Data Set Name). If it wants a DSN, the DSN has to be specified in the code, and the DSN has to be configured in the windows host ODBC applet. So that is at least two squirrels to get in the right tree before moving forward. A ...host:...[port:]SID|service name are some of the bits needed in a jdbc connect string, and that is in no way related to DSNs. A Whole Different Animal. If it wants a DSN that might be what needs to go in the URL bit.
And ODBC setups can be confusing, especially if an x64 OS is in the mix- if that is the case there are two different ODBC configuration applets, one for x64 the other for x86, and if one gets as far as talking to an actual database it might toss an architecture error. Only way to fix that "problem" is *delete* the ODBC DSN and then run the correct (maybe the x86) ODBC config utility, and set up the DSN. Again.

  • Urgent PTG on APACHE/NT Servlet Error: ClassNotFoundException: oracle.jsp.JSPServlet

    Hi all,
I try to install PTG 1.0.2 with apache server (version 1.3.9 with jserv 1.1) on windows NT. I follow install instructions and when I try to access test page (test.jsp), the page colud not be displayed, and the following error is added in the mod_jserv.log file :
    (error) ajp12: Servlet Error : ClassnotFoundException : oracle.jsp.JSPservlet.
    All input are welcome ?
    null

    Hello!
I've got the same problem and I think it has something to do with the jserv.conf file.
According to the installation guide, the following line should be added:
    ApJServAction .jsp /servlets/oracle.jsp.JspServlet
In the same file I have the following line:
    ApJServMount /servlets /root
So /servlets is mounted on /root. I don't knoww what this /root pints to, but I think the problem is that this path does not lead to oracle.jsp.JspServlet.
Has ANYONE yet solved this problem?

  • Calling a servlet (in Tomcat) from a JSP Page (in Apache)

I have a web form in my JSP Page, which upon submits, will send the params to a servlet. The servlet will then process the request and send the results back to the calling JSP Page.
with that above senario, is there any way for me to reference a servlet (resides in Tomcat) from a JSP Page (resides in Apache HTTP Server)?
    Thanks!

    Apache HTTP server isn't a servlet/JSP engine.
Your JSP runs on Tomcat, right where the servlet does. Apache just forwards the request.

  • Webserver/jsp engine call into weblogic ejb container

Which one of these architectures would give the best performance.
              First architecture:
              3 boxes -
              1st box - webserver(IIS or IPlaner) with a JSP engine. (The JSP's
              produce dynamic content.)
              2nd box - weblogic 5.1 hosting EJB's
              3rd box - Oracle or DB2
The 1st box is used to server up dynamic contect. The JSP's make dynamic
contect from calls into the EJB container in the 2nd box. The EJB's then
calls the DB in the 3rd box.
              2nd architecture:
              3 boxes-
1st box - webserver with weblogic plug-ins for IIS or IPlanet
2nd box - weblogic 5.1 - hosting JSP pages and EJBs
              3rd box - Oracle or DB2
The 1st box's webserver just receives the request to JSPs and lets the
plug-in find the appropriate weblogic instance. The JSPs that are processed
on the 2nd box make calls into the EJB container on the 2nd box. The EJBs
then make calls to the DB on the 3rd box.

  • Where do I get the oracle.jsp.dbutil library

Where do I get the oracle.jsp.dbutil library.
    Thanks

Upgrading to SuSe 6.2 would probably do the trick. Upgrade is
really smooth, and will take approximately 1h. I was able
to run oracle 8i client install on my PC and it works (32M,
160MHZ pentium) quite satisfactory. On my server machine
(450MHZ, 128MB) I'm running RH 6.0 and it also works fine.
On SuSe, I removed the "Kaffee" JVM installed by default and
    downloaded JRE 1.1.7 from www.blackdown.org. I haven't tried
the "kaffe" engine but Oracle documentation requires blackdown.
Michael, if you read this, have you tried installing with the
default JVM engine delivered with SuSe 6.2?
As long as your operating system name doesn't start with "MS"
    you should be OK.

  • My JSP engine won't load the new source from my page

My JSP engine won't load the new source from my page, even know I saved it, and I restarted apache, and resaved the files again, no dice! It must be running off of cash, it's not in my browser cash I cleared it out too, what else can I do?

Tomcat checks to see if the JSP has changed since it was last compiled with you request that page... So, if the file is updated, it should recompile it. Are you sure that when you update the page, you're updating the same copy of the page? (the location defined in the server.xml file)
