Oracle parser

Hi, I'm using JDeveloper10g with Wireless Development Kit to develop a Struts application with JSP/HTML and WAP interfaces.
The web-application worked correctly until I installed the Wireless Development Kit.
After that, every time I try to start the web-application in embedded OC4J server I have an error in parsing the web-application web.xml file.
I reported the error stak-trace below.
Any suggestion would be very appreciated !!!!
Thanks a lot.

I am getting the same problem. What is strange is that if I deploy the application under ..\j2ee\home\applications\... all is fine. Deploying the same application on the same server but under ..\j2ee\OC4J_Wireless\applications\... I get the same error.
Does anyone have a sollution?

  • FOP and oracle parser

    Hi
    i developed a web application that takes an xml file which the user specifies and after validating it the application uses FOP to produce a PDF file. • Exception: Oracle Parser Error: Empty Global Elements List

    Hello and Thanks in advance for any help.
    I created a synchronous process bpel. I made a partnerlink callout to an external bpel process. This partnerlink references the wsdl locally as opposed to directly referencing the process on the server. After I created the invoke and the input variable, I went back to the invoke, clicked on the "flashlight explorer" to see the elements in the input type and I get an "Empty Global Elements List" error. I have not attempted any assigns and all schemas are present in the directory. I have also tried deleting the parnerlink, invoke, and the input variable created in the invoke and then recreating all of the above.
    I am using JDev 10.1.3.3.0
    Any suggestions?

    Oracle has opened a bug on this issue.
    Although a pain in the butt you should be able to code the assigns by hand. I've been able to use the invoke wizard and bore down into the structures (clink on the client flashlight and keep going) to capture the query elements

    A new maintenance release of the Oracle Parser for Java is
    available for download. It has the following fixes and changes:
    Bug fixes for #920536, i.e. Cannot access element attributes via
    XSLT; #898423. i.e. ElementDecl's in DTDs; #774774, i.e. DOM
    extensions using XSL pattern matching; #863890 i.e. SAX
    IOException not thrown.
    New APIs in the following new interface:
    1. oracle.xml.parser.v2.NSResolver
    - resolveNamespacePrefix( find the namespace definition in scope
    for a given namespace prefix )
    New APIs in the following classes:
    1. oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLNode
    - selectNodes( Selects nodes from the tree which match the given
    pattern; client can provide an NSResolver implementation to
    resolve namespace prefixes in the pattern ).
    2. oracle.xml.parser.v2.ElementDecl
    - getParseTree( Returns the root Node of Content Model parse
    tree, which could then be traversed node by node using
    getFirstChild() and getLastChild(). The Node types are: PLUS,
    COMMA, ASTERISK, ELEMENT, QMARK ).
    This is the first beta patch release for v2.

  • Oracle DB: How to parse XML where element names are non-standard ?

    I'm in the unfortunate situation that I have illegal XML that I would like Oracle to parse. By 'illegal' in my case is that there are element names that start with an illegal character, such as a digit. Apart from this the XML is syntactically valid.
    Here is an example of the XML I have stored as a column in the database:
    <schedule>
        <1stweek>
        </1stweek>
        <2ndweek>
        </2ndweek>
    </schedule>Right now I'm doing text search-and-replace on the XML text before I let Oracle parse it, for example replacing '<1stweek>' with '<x1stweek>' and so on. Needless to say this is very slow.
    My question is if there is a way to tell the XML parser in the Oracle DB (I'm using version 10.2) to be a bit more forgiving ? ... so that it will accept element names that start with e.g. a digit ? I know that such an option exist in some XML parsers but what about Oracle's and if so how to set the option?
    And before you ask I'll answer myself: No, I'm not the one who created the non-standard XML. It is from a third-party application which I cannot change myself and cannot get the vendor to change either.
    Thank you.

    if you cast your clob to an xmltype then you can search and extract values based on tags.
    Heres an example where the table is a clob and value is cast and I'm looking for an existing attribute_name.

  • Oracle XML parser and IBM jdk bug

    Hello,
    From a few messages found in the XML forum it seems that IBM jvm could cause problems with oracle XML parser. ( see http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum11/HTML/003823.html )
    I am using IBM jvm (jdk 1.3) on a linux box, and problems are starting to arise:
    I have
    - 1 BC4J based jsp app which works fine.
    - 2 XML parsing BC4J apps which cause strange errors (like parsing 40 documents fine and failing on the 41st for no apparent reason)
    Hopefully, Steven Muench provided precious advice on this (basically, disabling the JIT), however some issues are still open:
    <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>You should file a bug with IBM to get this fixed, using your stylesheet as a testcase. Lots of people have hit this problem.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
    Has anyone (from oracle or else) done this yet? I have gone (quickly) through IBM website but I didn't find any bug report utility or the like...
    <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>Disable your JIT compiler (or switch JVM's) and you won't have the error.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
    Turning off the JIT indeed made the errors vanish, thanks a lot for the tip!
    I have a few more questions though :
    * As the BC4J framework uses the xml parser, It is fairly possible that the ibm jvm bug will affect it...
    I haven't had any problems (yet?) with the BC4J part of my applications, but I'm a bit concerned about having random bugs lurking around (I have more than enough of my own :) )
    Has anyone stumbled upon IBM JVM vs oracle parser issues in BC4J? (oracle.xml.parser.v2.XXXXXX exceptions...)
    * If BC4J is indeed affected, what's the solution?
    - Disable the JIT? (And forget about performance?... hmmm... no)
    - Switch parsers? (oracle parser is too tightly integrated in the BC4J Framework isn't it?.. hmm... not possible either)
    - Wait for a patch from IBM (and use another one in the meantime) / switch JVM :
    In either case, I'd really like to know what is the JVM that oracle people use / would advise.
    Thanks for your help

    For those interested,
    last week i reported this bug in the ibm jvm news forum.
    They said that the problem had been investigated and would be fixed in their next service release.
    FYI: the current release (SR7, labeled "build cx130-20010329) still has various problems wih oracle XML parser.

  • Parsing errors with CDATA tags using oracle xml parser v2

    I'm using the oracle.xml.parser.v2 parser to combine a
    generated xml document from a database with a static
    xsl file to produce html. Within the xml document, there
    are fairly large CDATA sections (500 lines) which happen
    to contain javaScript.
    Occasionally, I'm getting xml tags in the final html
    document! It seems that the oracle parser pukes
    on a certain type of data within a CDATA tag, and then
    replaces an angle bracket (<) of a tag with a #60. This
    can cause html tags being viewed in the document. At
    first, I thought the amount of JavaScript within the
    CDATA tag was too large for the parser to handle,
    because when I split it up into 2 or more parts the errors
    went away. But, re-arranging the JavaScript (String in the CDATA tag)
    can make the errors disappear. And, if I
    use the Saxon parser to manually combine the xsl with
    the xml, the output is fine. If anyone knows that this is
    a confirmed bug by Oracle, or any other relevant info on
    this, please let me know.

    Hi,
    Your lucky, i've just finished a project that used the oracle parser extensively.
    I think the problem may stem from your xsl. Although your cdata tags may be well formed, in the xsl you might need to escape the text again, this may mean that the xsl needs to print a further cdata tag around the data. This is because the parser (well the version I was using) strips the cdata tags before the transformation happens.
    This is the probably the cause of the nasty html output.

  • Use of Xerces Parser in out application with Oracle App Server 9.0.4

    The problem in brief:
    Our product is a web-app that runs under various Application servers.
    One of our customers who uses Oracle App server, recently upgraded from 9.0.2 (9g) to 9.0.4 (10g), and our product no longer works with the latter version.
    Our product uses XML parser Xerces 1.1.
    In 9.02 it was possible to replace the App servers parser with Xerces 1.1. In 9.02 it was possible to replace the App servers parser with Xerces 1.1 (We modified the opmn.xml file, setting the Java options for our oc4j instance bootclasspath with xerces parser). Hence, our product works.
    In 9.0.4, apparently, Oracle moved to a different parser, and it no longer allows the parser to be replaced. If the bootclasspath is modified with XERCES(tested various versions of xerces) parser, rightfully so ORACLE Application server does not start.
    Unlike other prominent Application Servers (such as webshpere etc,) the Oracle application server does not support separate JVMs or namespaces for web-apps either.
    We like, oralce application server, OC4J instance for our application to use the xerces parser version qualified with our product. We understand, replacing the XML parser for the entire Oracle Application Server is not supported function.
    Since, Oracle Application Server is loading the oracle 'xmlparserv2' at system class path, though the applicaton has xerces.jar in application path (either in AppLib or web-inf/lib directory, Its not a class loading issue) it is not getting used (since javax.xml.parsers.documentbuilderFactory is mapped to oracle parser).
    So, it looks like the only option available to us is to modify our product to use Oracle's XML parser. This is a major software change, and we want to keep it as last resort option.
    Any suggestion and help will be higly appreciated.

    Raju --
    Thanks for the intelligent posting on a difficult issue for you.
    I wasn't aware of anything specifically being introduced that prevented the bootclasspath technique from working** in the 904 release.
    For 904, the bootclasspath needs to be put in the start parameters tag of the java-options tag.
    <process-type id="home" module-id="OC4J" status="enabled">
    <module-data>
    <category id="start-parameters">
    <data id="java-options" ... -Xbootclasspath/a:/java/lib/xerces.jar"/>
    </category>
    </module-data>
    </process-type>
    You can also try copying the xerces.jar into the jre/lib/ext directory so it's loaded by the system classloader and see if that works**. This will put xerces at the extension level so
    **these workarounds are not supported and will put you in an unsupported situation if a problem occurs.
    The good news is that have taken steps to clearly enable the separation of container versus appplication class spaces in thenext production release (10.1.3) of OC4J. We will be providing a new classloading model which cleanly separates the two namespaces and allows applications to provide their own versions or distributions of class libraries with no collisions with the OC4J runtime libraries.
    I don't know of any easy ways to do what you need -- other than reworking the app to use JAXP so that the parser implementation used is pluggable as you kind of allude to. If it was possible, I'd do that rather than hard coding in the use of the Oracle XML parser.
    But just to reiterate, switching in xerces at the bootclasspath level is not a supported operation since it may have an effect on the OC4J runtime operation.

  • Howto force Oracle XML parser not to expand entity references?

    Hi,
    Is it possible to force Oracle XML parser (Java) not to expand entity references, so that they appear in DOM tree as separated nodes after parsing XML?
    Example:
    for following XML
    <tag>abc&auml;xyz</tag>
    I get:
    Element: "tag"
    |-Text: "abcdxyz"
    but I would like to get:
    Element: "tag"
    |-Text: "abc"
    |
    |-EntityReference: "auml"
    |
    |-Text: "xyz"
    I've already tried to use JAXP api (setExpandEntityReferences method in java.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory), but it doesn't seem to work.
    I'm using parser from XDK Java v9.2.0.2.0 Production.
    Thx,
    James

    This is requested code sample:
    DocumentBuilderFactory dbf = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    dbf.setExpandEntityReferences(false);
    System.out.println("isExpandEntityReferences = "+dbf.isExpandEntityReferences());
    DocumentBuilder db = dbf.newDocumentBuilder();
    Document d = db.parse("file://c:/test.xml");
    Element e = d.getDocumentElement();
    System.out.println("documentElement"+ e.getTagName() + " nodeType=" +e.getNodeType());
    System.out.println("ChildNodes:");
    NodeList nodeList = e.getChildNodes();
    for(int i=0; i<nodeList.getLength();i++) {
    System.out.println(i+" value=\""+nodeList.item(i).getNodeValue()+"\" nodeType="+nodeList.item(i).getNodeType());
    Content of test.xml:
    <!DOCTYPE test SYSTEM "test.dtd">
    <test>abc&auml;xyz</test>
    Content of test.dtd:
    <!ELEMENT test (#PCDATA)>
    <!ENTITY auml "&#x00E4;">
    When you run it you will get the following output:
    isExpandEntityReferences = true
    documentElementtest nodeType=1
    ChildNodes:
    0 value="abcdxyz" nodeType=3
    which means that EntityReference has been expanded.
    As you can see in the output the isExpandEntityReferences method returns "true", even though I set it to false in code!
    Does it mean that Oracle parser simple doesn't support this feature???
    Thx,
    James

  • Bugs in Oracle XML Parser

    I'm getting an error message from Oracle Parser 9.2.0.6.0 on my XML Schema.
    I have multiple Schemas with no namepspace that I am including in a file with a target namespace that is also the default namespace. I am receiving an error that I have an invalid reference. In this situation I shouldn't need a prefix and my Schema should be valid.
    I am able to resolve the error by removing the namespace from my file that holds the includes.
    Is this a known bug? I know it was an issue in 9.2.0.4.
    Thank you in advance for any information.
    Kind regards,
    Jessica

    Thank you for the fast response, but I'm not sure I expalined my situtation well.
    I am using the later:
    <xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" >
    The problem is that Oracle is giving me an error on a type that is defined in an included file. The included file has no namespace, but the file in which it is included does have a namespace. The file with the target namespace is also the default. Hence, no need for a prefix on my predefined type. That being said, the Oracle parser is throwing an error, which I believe to a bug.
    Additional feedback is appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Jessica

  • Why can't Oracle XML parser import a Xerces node?

    I have been using XSU to obtain query results in XML as a DOM. Recently I tried to use the Document.importNode method on the generated DOM where the node to be imported was generated using the Xerces parser. The Oracle XML parser gave the following error:
    java.lang.ClassCastException: org.apache.xerces.dom.DeferredElementImpl
         org.w3c.dom.Node oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLDocument.importNode(org.w3c.dom.Node, boolean)
              XMLDocument.java:1247
    I can get around the problem by parsing the XML I want to combine with the XSU generated XML with the Oracle parser, however, I would be happier if I could configure XSU to use Xerces (or another parser) via JAXP.
    Will XSU have JAXP support? What is the cause of the exception above?

That is why you can't import.
