  • Oracle Reports with XML output showing data as asterik character

    Hello,
I'm trying to create an Oracle report with xml output. Here is the issue I'm having some of the columns in my report are of datatype number. When I run the report and generate xml file the values for those columns(datatype number) are showing as (*) character, other columns are showing fine. But when I run the report as text output then data is fine. I don't understand why this is happening.
The property of column is Column Type - Database Scalar, Datatype - Number , width 0,-127.
Does the width has to do anything with this?
I'm using Report Builder 6.0.8.11.3, DB version 10g.
Can anyone please help me with the issue I'm having.
    Thanks

  • Showing Oracle reports in current web application with JBOSS as AS

    hi:
I have installed the Oracle AS(10g 10.1.2.0.2) and the reports services... I have also installed the Stand Alone J2EE Thin Client (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/examples/Tools/index.html)
My current web project uses JBoss and I have to show oracle reports keeping the current environment.
I have followed the steps provided on the doc mentioned in the above link.
first i did the following steps ( please refer to the text of that readme doc below)
(//text of readme doc, I have done these steps
    1. Deploy THINCLIENT_HOME/reports/j2ee/reports.ear on the J2EE application server.
    2. Add the following JAR files to the classpath of the J2EE application server:
    * THINCLIENT_HOME/reports/jlib/rwrun.jar
    * THINCLIENT_HOME/jlib/zrclient.jar
    3. Use THINCLIENT_HOME/vbroker4/lib/vbjboot.jar while starting the application server.
but i cannot understand what is written just next to the above llines in that doc I am pasting those points from that doc
    (text of readme doc:
The following section provides detailed instructions on carrying out the above 3 configuration steps with OC4J Standalone Distribution 10g (9.0.4). You need to consult your J2EE application server's documentation to carry out the same steps for your application server.
    1. Add the following to OC4J_HOME/j2ee/home/config/server.xml
    <application name="reports" path="<THINCLIENT_HOME>/reports/j2ee/reports.ear" auto-start="true" />
    2. Add the following to OC4J_HOME/j2ee/home/config/http-web-site.xml

    <library path="<THINCLIENT_HOME>/reports/jlib/rwrun.jar"/>
    <library path="<THINCLIENT_HOME>/jlib/zrclient.jar"/>
according to what i understood i went to OC4J which is under my Oracle_Infra directory and then completed the above steps
after that I ran the command (according to this doc):

and then it never comes back to command prompt
Now after all these steps...i don't understand what to do next and my problem is still there which is How to deploy reports made by oracle reports from my web project links

  • Error deploying oracle report JSPs in Jdeveloper.

    Hi,
I am trying to deploy and run a report created using oracle Report tool(comes with oracle 10g developer suite). I did the below steps.
    1. I created a web layout report in oracle reports tool.
    2. Open Jdeveloper (which comes in developer suite).
    3. Create a new project in Jdeveloper. selected to create new "report component" from new. Copied my oracle report to this jsp page.(Report run time was automatically added to the libraries of the project created)
    4. Run using embedded oc4j and report was successfully run.
    5. Created a deployment profile for WAR. Created a war successfully. Then created an EAR.
    6. Right click deployment profile and configured standalone oc4j connected(connection1). Tested the connection. The test connection was success.
    7. Then right clicked the deployement profile and clicked deploy to connection1.
    8. The EAR file was deployed but in the standalone OC4J, it is showing few errors.

  • HOW TO CREATE A NEW J2EE APP FOR DEPLOYING ORACLE REPORTS USING JDEVELOPER?

    Hi,
I'm new to JDeveloper and Java, JSP etc. I'm trying to deploy a sample parameter form for JSP report. My question is: When I create a J2EE application using JDeveloper, how to make sure "The WEB-INF directory must contain the JSP tag library for Oracle Reports, called reports_tld.jar"? How to do it via JDeveloper?
    In my JSP page, I use <%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/lib/reports_tld.jar" prefix="rw" %>.

Does anyone know the answer to this question?
I get the following error in Jdeveloper when running my test jsp report:
Error(8): Unable to load taghandler class: /WEB-INF/lib/reports_tld.jar

  • Difference between deploying oracle report in RDF format and REP format

    Hi All,
    Good Day!!!
We are frequently encountering report failures in our production environment with the error message "REP-1247: There exist uncompiled program unit(s)"
But the report executes successfully in the next try and the issue is intermittant. In production the reports are deployed in RDF format.
So in our test environment we tried of deploying the reports in REP foramat and we cant find any errors.
Is there Difference in deploying oracle report in RDF format and REP format?
Is there any diffence in execution?
Your inputs will be much appreciated!!!
    Thanks in Advance,
    JK

    Hi,
REP is to RDF what FMX is to FMB, MMX is to MMB, etc.
Only difference here is that if you deploy RDF, not REP, then the RDF is compiled at runtime by Reports Engine and then executed. In other words, if REP is deployed then it is straightway execute.
That should explain all your observations.
    Cheers.
PS: Please post Oracle Report queries on {forum:id=84} forum.

  • Deploying oracle reports 6i

    Hi,
I have successfully generated a report using oracle reports 6i. whats the best way to deploy the report if there are going to be only two users for the report.
The users already have oracle reports runtime installed on them...
So if i just put the .rdf file, it would work, provided i give them the username and password for accessing the database..ofcourse i dont want to give this..so how would i hide the password and make it inbuilt along with the report.
    Thanks.

    hi,
can someone tell me how to set automatic login so that the real users are kept out of the database passwords...
    Thanks

  • Oracle forms and reports deployment

    hi,
i am new to oracle application server i am testing oracle forms and reports deployment, please let me know what part of application server i need to be install for deployment of forms and reports.
only Forms & Reports Services will be fine ?
    regards,
    Nikunj

only Forms & Reports Services will be fine ?If you only need Forms and Reports, then yes, you can install the standalone version Forms and Reports services, which does not have infrastructure and is much lighter.
Of course, in this case, you can't use features that require infrastructure, like Internet Directory, Single Sign On, Portal, and so on.

  • Deploy Oracle Reports on Orion

Has anyone been able to deploy an Oracle Reports .jsp application to the Orion App server instead of OC4J? If so, could you provide a step-by-step guideline on what I would need to do to get the report to run on the web. What changes are required to the configuration files? Thanks.

  • Help needed for MySQL 5 database DSN less connection with Oracle reports

    Hi,
I am using Oracle Develper Suite and java (J2EE) for my application. I am using MySql 5 as database tool. I want to use Oracle reports of Oracle Develper suite. I have created some reports by first creating system DSN for MySql database and then connect Oracle reports to that DSN by "jdbc:odbc" connection string provided in Oracle Report developer wizard. This is working fine.
I want to generate reports without creating system DSN (DSN less) so that i can use my application on any computer without creating DSN for Oracle Reports. I am deploying my application on OC4j as "EAR" file.
Help in this regard will be highly appreciated.
    Regards.

Using an 8i client, you will need to configure the tnsnames.ora file with appropriate connection information if you are using local naming. If you are using host naming or something like an Oracle Names server to resolve TNS aliases, you can skip the tnsnames.ora configuration. A default installation of the Oracle client, though, will probably be using local naming.
If the tnsnames.ora file is configured, or you have configured an alternate way of resolving TNS aliases, you should be able to use the connection string
DRIVER={Oracle ODBC Driver};DBQ=<<TNS alias>>;UID=system;PWD=managerIf you wanted to move to the 10g client (the 10g Instant Client could be useful here), there are some streamlined naming methods that could be used instead of configuring the tnsnames.ora file.

  • SQL Query as Item Source/Oracle Reports w/ HTML DB?

I have successfully used a SQL Query as an item source in the past on several occasions. However, in this instance, every time I try to do this, I get the following error:
Error ERR-1019 Error computing item default value: page=3 name=P3_TEST_ITEM.
ORA-01460: unimplemented or unreasonable conversion requested ORA-02063: preceding line from [database_name]
If I use the exact same query in creating a report region, the page displays fine and the query returns the correct data. Why might this be happening, and what can I do to fix it?
Also - off the subject - is there a way to use HTML DB to deploy reports that are created in Oracle Reports Builder? I have created several employee productivity reports for supervisors and managers in HTML DB, which is great for allowing them to run them live and have fields as parameters for varying employees, date ranges, etc... but formatting them to be browser and printer friendly is an absolute nightmare so far. If I could create and format the reports in Reports Builder and then deploy them using HTML DB, while still being able to offer parameters to the user, that would be perfect. Is this possible?

    Here is my query:
    SELECT
    TO_CHAR((sum(decode(ef.production_function,'Y',ef.function_minutes+ef.function_ot_minutes))/60)/8, '9999999.99')
    FROM
    RLAPPLSG.EMPLOYEE_INFO@REMOTE_SERVER EI,
    RLAPPLSG.SC_EMP_FUNCTIONS@REMOTE_SERVER EF,
    RLAPPLSG.SC_EMP@REMOTE_SERVER E
    WHERE
    ( e.SC_EMP_NBR=ef.SC_EMP_NBR )
    AND ( ei.EMP_ID=e.EMP_ID )
    AND (
    ( trunc(( e.SC_DATE )) BETWEEN :P2_BEGIN_DATE AND :P2_END_DATE )
    AND (ei.EMP_MGRS_ID = :P2_SUPERVISOR_ID
    OR ei.EMP_ID = :P2_SUPERVISOR_ID)
Every table and/or view that is referenced here is done so remotely. The column datatype breakdown is as follows:
    production_function - BOOLEAN
    function_minutes - NUMBER
    function_ot_minutes - NUMBER

  • Oracle Reports printer setup

    Hi Guys.
I am an Oracle Applications DBA and I know how to setup printing in Oracle Applications.
However, our client has got one installation of Oracle Application Server 10g and has deployed Oracle Forms and Reports Services.
They have configured printing for Oracle Reports for their setup, which I am not aware of how they did or how it is done in Oracle Forms and Reports.
The problems at hand are -
Problem number 1 - Over here a line printer i.e. 132 column one has been attached to the 10g Application Server from the USb port. The Application server is on Windows 2003 server machine. When we fire reports we can see in print queue request being fired but no putput is coming. If we open Reports builder on a developer machine and from there we fire we do get print out but this time developers machine Print dialoag comes. On developer machine we have mapped to same printer which is attached to the 10g AS machine
Problem number 2 - As mentioned earlier its a 132 column printer so what is the paper size to be picked. From articles it is Letter paper size or US Std Fanfold paper size.
Problem Number 3 - Suppose we try Arabic report since its arabic in the report designer we change direction to Right To Left, if we fire this report some columns almost 20 characters are cut -off. If we fire same report with default direction set in designer, whole data comes
Problem number 4 - If we give output to Excel or PDF i.e. Desformat Spreadsheet or PDF, the arabic data all come out rubbish junk.
Apart from getting help on the above mentioned issues, I would request you guys to help me in finding out how to setup the printing for standalone application server forms and reports.
    Thanks,
    Muneer.

    hello,
submitting your report in the url using a key (yourKey) defined in the cgicmd.dat file would look like

  • How to install Oracle Report Services in Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.1

My project is running on Oracle Application Server(OAS) 10.1.3.1, and I need to develop some Oracle Reports for my client.
But I find out there is not "Oracle Report Services" component in OAS 10.1.3.1 like OAS 10.1.2.
Is there Oracle Report Services for OAS 10.1.3.1? How to get it?

    Max Yuan wrote:
You mean I need to install 2 OAS(10.1.2 for report, 10.1.3 for my project), or deploy my project to 11g? For the Reports reporting project, you'll need a version/edition that includes AS Reports Services.
In "10gr2" that means AS 10.1.2.0.2 (plus Patch set): AS Infrastructure + AS BI&Forms installation (enterprise edition) or the standalone Forms and Reports installation (EE or separate licensing). You also need the Developer Suit (Reports Builder). OFM "11gr1" suite has some version of Reports Services but I don't know the available packages and installation types.
