It is regarding Express Database that was used by a client at their Head Office. They have provied us some DB files(e.g. "mdw.db","dmdw.db","mdmdw.db","pdmdw.db" and similar more like these). They have been using these databases in their sales analyzer through express relational access administrator. Now we want to user their database in our OLAP environment with our sales analyzer. But after attaching these databases in express server, we can't connect sales analyzer/application manager tools of OSA to these through relational access administrator. Can you explain why or How can we use those db files in our environment?

Oracle Sales Analyzer Connectivity Error
We have olap configured at our environment. We want to import a new express database into olap environment from a different location. We have been able to attach this new database in express server But when we try to connect to this database through sales analyzer then it shows "I/O error on file..., parameter is incorrect". Does we have to change any I/O settings through Express Administrator? Can any one help?

ORacle sales analyzer doesn't display sql's using show sq.sql.stmts
Hi,
I cannot view the sql statements generated by Oracle Sales analyzer cube using show sq.sql.stmts.
Moreover when I check on db I don't see any sql's being issued by web OSA session.
What could be the possible reason for this?Lang wrote:

Can anyone help please, I am using SQL developer 3.0, and I have come across a lot of cases that after compiling a package , the compiler doesn't show me any errors, and It shows me the package is compiled , but it 's not valid after I close down the sql developer and log back in again.
I am using 11g instantclient with it.Really?
& here I thought SQL Developer used JDBC Thin to connect to the DB. -

Hi,
I'm new to Oracle Sales Analyzer and was wondering if anyone could assist me.
If you have any idea about any sites which could give me a more detailed explaination I'd be more than grateful.
I have created my dimension tables and now I was wondering whether I needed to create cubes before starting OSA. Another question that I had was how exactly will I use OSA ( ie how will I move my data from the database and access it over OSA).
Awaiting an early reply.
Thanks
MariaVinod
The name of the attributes in the RAA project must be spelled DATE and TIMESPAN exactly. The names of the columns in the relationship tables can be anything.
If you are using DATE and TIMESPAN for the names then look at the express structure PRIOR.x, where x is the dimension abbrevation, and make sure that PRIOR.x is being populated correctly.
Hope this helps.
Let me know if I can help further.

Oracle Sales Analyzer and Financial Analyzer
Hi All,
Where can I download Oracle Sales Analyzer and Oracle Financial Analyzer? Are they part of any module / package?
Thanks for your help,
ShaileshAbove given information is really helpful especially for newbies who wants to retrieve the multidimensional data from sql 2005.
I would also recommend a book on OLAP and believe me its pretty informative.
The [book is available on Amazon|http://www.amazon.com/Multidimensional-Data-Modeling-Toolkit-Intelligence/dp/0981775306] & you can buy an e-book directly from the publisher by writing [email protected] -
How we can run Oracle Batch Manager in Oracle Sales Analyzer
Hi,
Please guide me how we can run Oracle Batch Manager in Oracle Sales Analyser.
Best Regards,You cannot run Batch Manager directly from within the OSA Administrator or Analyzer clients. Batch Manager has its own GUI client that can be used the define and schedule jobs, however, it also possible to run and montitor jobs via command line as well.
The documentation helps explain this:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/A92106_01/batch.htm
Does that help?

Finding the SQL fired by Oracle Sales Analyzer
Hi,
Is there a way to find out the SQL fired against the database by Sales Analyzer?.
TIA,
Vijay.It is a very long time since I used OSA, but there is a way to get at the SQL. Try one of the following:
1) try describing the program SQ.WRITESQL as I think this may contain the required code
OR:
2) on OSA client (Windows) enable tracing by going to Help-Express Monitor and type:
ifcopy=y
badline=y
echoprompt=y
prgtrace=y
dbgoutfile '/path/trace.txt' nocache
OR
3) Use the RECAP command in the Express Monitor window, this will show you the last series of commands issued and you should find the SQL code buried somewhere.
Sorry I cannot be more specific, alas I don't have OSA installed anymore but it is great to hear from someone still using it.

Error while creating a report that uses Oracle OCI JDBC connectivity
Please let me know why my CR and LF characters are removed from my forum posting *****
Hi,
I was trying to create a report that uses Oracle OCI JDBC connectivity. I am using Eclipse3.4 download from "cr4e-all-in-one-win_2.0.2.zip". I have successfully created a JDBC OCI connection.
The connection parameters are given below:
URL: jdbc:oracle:oci8:@xe
Database: xe
username: <userName>
password: <password>
I have tested the above connection in Data source Explorer and it works fine!!!
But I am getting the following error when I drag-and-drop a table from the list of tables. Not sure what I am missing here? Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks for the feedback. I was able to create a report in Creystal Reports Designer 2008 using OCI. It is not allowing only in the Eclipse plugin. In our environment we are not allowed to user Oracle thin connections and ONLY OCI is allowed.
1) Can you please let me know if there is a way to do this?
2) Will it allow data sources using native database driver?
3) If so, can I use JRC to create these reports from a desktop java program?
Thanks & Regards

Error while running Oracle Sales Dashboard in JDeveloper
Hello,
I am trying to extend the "Update Customer" page in Oracle Sales and have my new custom region ready, which I intend to plugin through personalization in the "Update Customer" page in Oracle Sales.
Before I can do that I need to be able to run the Oracle Sales Dashboard through Jdev. I have added the following standard Oracle BC4J packages to my project:
oracle.apps.asn.common.customer.schema.server
oracle.apps.asn.common.fwk.server
oracle.apps.asn.common.schema.server
oracle.apps.asn.dashboard.server
oracle.apps.jtf.cac.schema.server
and the DashboardPG.xml. In addition I have the JTF, ASN, ASF, AR and AS schemas added as libraries to my project.
I am trying to run this page through Jdev and then following navigation path to the "Update Customer" page:
- Click on Customer in the Shortcuts link on the Sales Dashbaord
- Search for customer ..the search fetches the results w/o any problem.
- Click on customer to view the customer details
- Click on the "Update Customer" button.....................It is here that I get the following error.
This is clean (new project) with ONLY Oracle objects in it. I am only trying to run the Sales from Jdev first.
Does anyone know what am I missing? Why am I getting the following error when I try to update the customer details?
I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks.

Oracle keeping JDBC connections ...
All
has anyone come got any ideas on this:
WLS6.0 sp2 on Win2k
Oracle v8
JDBC connection pool configured with 10 min connections / 50 max conns (in
increments of 5). Shrinking is active, and is set to run every 15mins.
What were seeing is that Oracle doesnt let go of any of the JDBC
connections. It literally keeps them for days on end, until we have to
manually kill them because theyre causing other DB problems.
any ideas ?
tks
willHello, I am using ALUI G6 (former Plumtree) and I am experiencing the same problem.
JDBC connections are not released and we reach the connection max number easily.
Please, can somebody help us ?

Logging the XML payload in Oracle Sales Cloud
How can xml payloads for inbound and outbound web service call be logged in Oracle Sales Cloud?
We need to capture the xml payloads as part of web service calls (inbound/outbound) and store it on server/objects.
Is it possible to achieve this and if so how can this be done?
Thanks,
AbhishekFor outbound invocations from Sales Cloud, how are you invoking the web services today?
If you are using groovy scripts to invoke, you can using a println after the invocation and view the messages through the "Runtime logging" feature.
This should work if you want to view the payload for debugging purposes
However, I also see that you need to store the response. Are you trying to implement auditing? -

Oracle Gateway Not Connecting to Sybase database
Hi,
I'm trying to setup an oracle gateway to connect to Sybase database. I followed in details the instructions but still can connect successfully. The Oracle database is in RAC environment. Below are the steps I took:
The oracle gateway and oracle database are in the same server while Sybase is on a separate unix box.
1. create an initdg4sybs.ora file
# This is a customized agent init file that contains the HS parameters
# that are needed for the Database Gateway for Sybase
# HS init parameters
HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO=[999.99.108.99]:4527/common ## IP address of sybase server
HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL=ON
HS_FDS_RECOVERY_ACCOUNT=RECOVER
HS_FDS_RECOVERY_PWD=RECOVER
2. create a listener on the oracle gateway home
# listener.ora Network Configuration File: /u03/app/oracle/gateway/11.2/network/admin/listener.ora
# Generated by Oracle configuration tools.
LISTENER_DG4SYSBS =
(DESCRIPTION_LIST =

TRACE_FILE_LISTENER_DG4SYSBS = /u03/app/oracle/gateway/11.2/network/admin/LISTENER_DG4SYBS.trc

3. create tnsnames.ora in oracle database home
dg4sybs =

4. create database link
create database link dg4sybs connect to "user" identified by "password" using 'dg4sybs'
5. when testing the connection; i'm getting below error message. tried all the setup based my research and couldn't make it work.
