Oracle Spatial(Locator) Java Library

Hello,
I understand that Oracle Database in XE version includes Oracle Locator (limited version of Oracle Spatial). I would like to access to spatial data in JAVA application.
As far as I know oracle.spatial.geometry package is included in sdoapi.jar file which I'm unable to find in 11g XE beta installation. Can I download it separately somewhere or it is in different jar?
Or those functions are not avaible in XE version?
Thanks

Hi,
For this kind of activity, it might be best to use Oracle Spatial (rather than locator) which includes
LRS (Linear Referncing System). Linear Referencing allows you to use measure information
(such as start measure/end meaure) to return spatial data without duplicating spatial data in
multiple tables.
If you can elaborate on what data you have (do you have a table with geometry data for the highways?),
we might be able to outline what you need to do.

  • Query on Oracle Spatial Locational Analysis

    Hi,
I am working on Oracle Spatial Locational Analysis.
It was very interesting to see an example in this below mentioned URL.
    http://technet.oracle.com/products/oracle9i/htdocs/9iober2/obe9ir2/download/obe-cnt_spatial.zip
The procedure mentioned is very clear but have some clarifications in between.
After creating the tables customers and warehouses, there aren't any .sql files where the data is feeded in to these two tables. With out the above mentioned step, in the procedure it is told to execute loc_updates.sql which updates any of the rows since if you look at the syntax in loc_updates.sql file it shows update the table customers whose customer_id=344.
Do we have to manually enetred the customer_id values?
Did Oracle miss uploading any .sql files?
I would very grateful if one could help me in this regard.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Nandakishore.

Nice to have a EXPERT in this FORUM...!!
Hi Dan, if you look at my reply I mentioned that I had loaded loc_updates.sql
    From my previous reply:
execute loc_updates.sql which doenot update any of the rows since if you look at the syntax in loc_updates.sql file it shows update the table customers whose customer_id=344.
Where is this customer_id=344 coming from?
Also the datatype is a number.
Dan, were you able to get the results as desired?
or may be I am missing something...
    Thanks and Regards,
    Nandakishore.

  • Help define the requirements for an Oracle Spatial management tool

    Hi,
We are developing a tool that, we hope, will be indispensable for all Oracle Spatial and Locator dbas/users. We've released version 1.0, but we need your help to define the requirements for the next version.
What features would you like to have in a management tool for your spatial databases?
The features we've got so far:
    1. Viewing of vector data in a map + attributes
    2. Loading from shapefiles
    3. Exporting to shapefiles
    4. Validating metadata, indexes and spatial data.
We are adding editing of vectors in the next version - basic stuff for add, update and delete.
But there must be a lot more. What do you find difficult to do in Oracle Spatial/Locator? What would you like in a tool such as this?
Any feedback either to myself or the forum is much appreciated.
    cheers,
    Andrew
    [email protected]
PS If you like to have a look at what we have done so far, go to http://www.geometryit.com/products/spatialConsole.php

Andrew knows what I have asked for but for others to think about and to start
the ball rolling, here's what they are:
    1. Ability to enter own SQL commands but with PARAMETERS for attributes
and shapes as in the following examples:
    SELECT ...
    FROM my_spatial_table a
    WHERE a.ATTRIBUTE = :attr
    AND MDSYS.SDO_RELATE(a.shape,:polygon,'mask=anyinteract') = 'TRUE'
When executed the attribute value is asked for via a input box (data type?)
and the user is asked to define the SDO_GEOMETRY for the :polgygon parameter via mouse clicks on the screen.
Similarly, this would work for INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE...
    INSERT INTO my_spatial_table (shape) values(:polygon)
The data type of an attribute parameter could be determined in two ways:
    a) By querying the Oracle catalog;
    b) By using a "PARAMETERS" command before the query as follows
PARAMETERS name type [(size)] [, name type [(size)] ...]
The PARAMETERS declaration has these parts:
name     The name of the parameter.
type     The type of the parameter.
size     The size of the parameter in characters or bytes.
    2. When executing an SQL SELECT statement I would like the tool
to suggest the HINTS that are needed to improve performance.
    3. Following on from 2, I would like to Tick an option that would return the
EXPLAIN PLAN that the query optimizer used when executing my query.
    4. The tool has to support ALL Oracle's spatial vector data types.
    5. It would be nice to be able to work with GeoRasters. Since Spatial Console
imports/exports shapefiles why not the same for rasters. However, the problem
with supporting foreign data formats is WHERE DO YOU STOP!!!!!
    6. You could allow for the styling of the Spatial Console to be stored in the MapViewer catalogs or use the MapViewer catalogs when styling an Sdo_Geometry if it exists (I note that your tool extracts the SDO_METADATA
why not the MapViewer metadata as well)?
    regards
    S.

  • Web map server - data in Oracle Spatial

We are searching for "web map server" which take data directly from Oracle Spatial (Locator). For this project the tools like ESRI ArcSDE, ArcIMS are too expensive. What are other product on the market? It should provide basic map navigation, spatial querying (klick on the map shows atribute data of features in active layers), serching by atributes.
    Regards,
    Sašo

Oracle's web map server product is the Application Server 10g MapViewer. See www.oracle.com/technology/products/mapviewer/index.html
For other mapping products that work with Spatial/Locator see

  • [Q] Oracle Spatial Java Class Library: classes missing ?

    Hello !
We are using Oracle 9.2.0.4 with Spatial features and we'd like to use the Java Library to get access to the object Geometries. We have downloaded the Spatial Java Library at:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/spatial/index.html
    The "sdo_java_040319.zip" file contains "sdoutl.jar", "sdotopo.jar, "sdonm.jar" and "sdoapi.jar". *BUT* "sdoapi.jar" only contains the "oracle.spatial.geometry.JGeometry" class !
    Nothing about the "oracle.sdoapi.*",
    "oracle.sdoapi.geom", "oracle.sdoapi.adapter", ...
    "oracle.sdoapi.sref" !
    Where are they ?
    Thank you for your replies

    The JGeometry class is it.
It's all you need with the new, supported sdoapi.
The javadoc for JGeometry has an example of its usage.

  • Oracle Spatial Java Class Library Download?

    Hello,
where can I download the Oracle Spatial Java Class Library? I installed OracleXE which can handle SDO_GEOMETRY types and now need the java library for programming against the database.
    greetings
    Peter

If you mean by samples that show you how to manipulate Geometry types than you can find this tutorial using java and connecting to your DB via Oracle Spatial Network Data Model (NDM) https://spatial.samplecode.oracle.com/servlets/ProjectProcess?pageID=0Zl7oV
My personal experience, it would be good idea to have oracle 11g Release 2 installed.
It shows you different ways to query spatial data. You might also be interested in this documentation on oracle Topology and NDM Developers guide: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28399.pdf

  • Download Oracle Spatial Java Library

    Hi,
Has anyone been able to download the Oracle Spatial Java Library? The error I receive is that I have agreed to the license terms even though I have checked all the check boxes and clicked on "I Agree". The same happens when trying to download the documentation for the same product and I am logged in at the time.
    Regards,
    Sean

If you have oracle enterprise , oracle spatial java library comes bundled with it.
You may look at $ora_home/product/{version}/db_1/md/jlib/sdoapi.jar , just change the path according to your installation. I just tried to provide you an hint.

  • Oracle 11g Standard Edition + Locator Java API

We have Oracle 11g Standard which includes the Oracle Locator package, but not the Oracle Spatial.
I would like to use the Oracle® Spatial Java API in my java code, but am unsure of the licensing implications of this.
I require some form of java api in order to access the geomettry objects stored in the database. Oracle do not allow the download of the java files seperately. I was unable to find any reference to a 'Oracle Locator Java API'
Could someone let me know what exists in terms of Java API's, what i am entitled to use under the current licensing rules, and where I can download the necessary source/jar files?

Thanks for letting me know the location of the jar files, that will at least help me get things going.
I am still concerned about licensing issues, as your reply appears to contradict itself:
"There is no licensing issues if you just want to use Oracle Spatial Java API(sdoapi.jar) with your spatial data in the Oracle 11g Standard DB."
    and
"You cannot use some oracle spatial features (PL/SQL packages and their java APIs) in the standard edition."
I could use some clarification on this. I'm currently assuming that you mean I can legitimately use the spatial java API with any features I have available within the 11g Standard DB (i.e Oracle Locator subset of the Oracle Spatial package), but that I can't take that for granted, especially considering how militant Oracle are being over licensing and patents these days.

  • How do I know if a function is included in Oracle Spatial or in Locator ?

    Hi,
Is there a document that lists which spatial packages are licensed as Locator and which are licence as spatial?
    Tamas

Its all listed in Appendix B of the Oracle Spatial Developer's Guide. It varies a little from release to release so you'll need to check the guide for the database release you're on.

Just check the health status and state of DB Adapter in the deployments of WLAdminConsole.
If its inactive , redeploy and update it ,also make sure its targeted to the right server.

  • Oracle Spatial 10g R2 Java API

    Hi All,
I have a JAVA tool said to be written for Oracle Spatial 10g R2 Java API which uses for example the class oracle.spatial.georaster.JGeoRaster. I have to port it to 11g R2. The tool is definitely written for an earlier version, because compilation fails on for example JGeoRaster.getProperties() method which is not present in the new API. For this new API I have a fine Javadoc documentation here:
    http://download-llnw.oracle.com/docs/html/E11829_01/
I have searched for a similar one for 10g R2 but found only like
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14373/toc.htm
which misses the oracle.spatial.georaster package. Is there such a package and if so, where can I find docs for it?
thank you in advance, best regards: Balázs Bámer

    Hi Balázs,
the GeoRaster Java API was first released with 11gR2. Your first link points to that, or this link:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e11829/toc.htm
your second link points to 10g Oracle Spatial Java API, which doesn't include any GeoRaster related API. your tool might have been developed based on the old INTERNAL georaster jar file, which is not supposed to be used by your java program. But if you do want the api doc, you can run javadoc or jdeveloper to find out the api from the old sdogr.jar file.

  • Oracle Calendar - UnsatisfiedLinkError: no csdkjni in java.library.path

    Hi, all.
I deployed my test calendar application developed using Jdeveloper 10.1.3.0 (on Windows XP) to the Oracle 10.1.3. AS on a linux server, but the CalendarServer in on another installation (Collaboration Suite 10.1.2) on the same linux server.
When I try to executed the code that calls the calendar server I get this error:
    500 Internal Server Error
    javax.faces.el.EvaluationException: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no csdkjni in java.library.path
I set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/lib:$ORACLE_HOME/ocal/lib on the collaboration suite 10.1.2 installation.
When I try to run the code on my Jdeveloper I get the same error:
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no csdkjni in java.library.path
In my windows machine I create a folder where I put the dll's and jar files that came from the collaboration suite windows installation, but I get always the same error
    This is the code:
    try
    Api.init("calendar.ini", "calendar.log");
    catch(Api.StatusException e)
    System.out.println("init returned status'" + e.getMessage() + "'");
    System.exit (1);
Is my approach correct? Because if i'm developing on Windows and I need dll's files to connect to the calendar server on linux, but when I deploy the application to the linux server those dll's are useless and cannot be used. So am I missing something here? Do I need anything else to get this to work?
    Best Regards,
    Rui

    1. Use 1 and only 1 of classes12.zip and ojbc14.jar; they have different versions of the same classes in them.
    2. The Oracle OCI driver for JDBC uses .dll files or .so files from the Oracle client installation (as well as Oracle network configuration files, I think); most people use the thin driver instead to avoid this problem.
To use the thin driver, change your url, see here for details:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/htdocs/jdbc_faq.htm#05_00
To stay with the OCI driver (not recommended), you need to have the appropriate Oracle client installation (or at least get the dlls or sos), and I think set additional environment variables, such as ORACLE_HOME and possibly LD_LIBRARY_PATH. I don't do this myself, so I can't give much more advice.

  • Using Java with Oracle Spatial

I am using the JDBC (Java classes dowloaded from
    technet.oracle.com - (sdoapi.zip)) together with Oracle Spatial
8.1.6. I am writing a collection of Linestrings into Oracle
Spatial using the supplied java classes(sdoapi.zip). I use the
    function createGeometryCollection(myCollection)to write the
Linestring collection to Oracle Spatial and they are written to
the database without error. However, when I try to read the
object back I get the following error:
    Exception in thread "main"
    oracle.sdoapi.geom.InvalidGeometryException
    at oracle.sdoapi.adapter.AdapterSDO.importGeometry
    (AdapterSDO.java:101)
    at
    MapInfoToOracleSpatial.MapInfoToOracleSpatial.main
    (MapInfoToOracleSpatial.java:211)
I do not have a listing of this code so can you please tell me
what the error is (line of code) at line 211. Also, when I use
the Oracle Spatial Index Advisor to view the spatial data, it
only displays a quarter of the data. When I use MapInfo to view
it's equivalent TAB (Table) file it views correctly all the
    data.
I can't understand why this is happening because the writing to
oracle and creation of each individual linestring does not
throw an error. It is only when I try to read back larger
objects from the database (2500 points) that it gives an error.
Is there a limitation on the size one can create linestrings?
    Thanks
