Oracle.sql.AnyDataFactory ThreadLocal? causing classloader leak

I am running a standard Jersey (JAX-RS), Spring, JPA, Hibernate, Oracle application on Tomcat.
Hot-redeploys to Tomcat 6.0.32 are causing classloader leaks which you can see with the Find Leaks button on the manager page.
Using jmap and Memory Analyzer Tool, I can see two objects that are keeping the classloader from gc'ing.
The first is that the Diagnosability MBean is not getting unregistered. That is easy to find and unregister.
The other is a ThreadLocal in oracle.sql.AnyDataFactory but as I have no code (and a static field for it is not available), I don't see how to clean that up.
Also the ThreadLocal reporting that Tomcat does doesn't find it which is odd.
Any thoughts? Are other people seeing this?
Brian

Hi, I realize this is an old thread, but I reached the exact same conclusion for a classloader leak in my app and I couldn't find any other solution. Did you?
I found the same two classes: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDiagnosabilityMBean and oracle.sql.AnyDataFactory
I guess moving the driver to the global lib folder will solve the redeploy problem but I always found more practical to have the driver in the war.

  • Enter Sql Statement is causing the Oracle SQL editor to freeze

I find Oracle SQL Developer's editor keep on freezing as I am writing sql statement on the editor. Is there an option to turn off the freeze.
If there is an option to turn off. Does it affect the sql editor not to automatically show objects on select object from database windown. Meaning it will not shows all table names in the dropdown box.
    Lookforward for your assitance.

Yes, completion insight can have pretty bad performance and worst is the UI doesn't become responsive again until it completes.
I have both turned of, but you can lower the popup speed too, in Preferences - Code Editor - Code Insight. Even when turned off, you can still access it through CTRL-space.
    Hope that helps,

  • Java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/sql/STRUCT after 11g/GF3.1.2 upgrade

We have recently upgraded all of our servers from:
    Java 1.6.31 to 1.6.32
    and
    Glassfish 3.1.1 to 3.1.2
We upgraded our development server from Oracle 10g to 11g.
Our live servers are working fine. Our development server now is spewing out a java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/sql/STRUCT error whenever it encounters a servlet or page which uses this class.
ojdbc14.jar and sdopai.jar were included within the WAR file, and I have tried with them excluded from the WAR file to no avail. We have tried reverting the version of ojdbc.jar on the server to the earlier version, this has made no different.

If your code can't find the class then you have the classic NoClassDefFoundError problem you get when any other referenced class can't be located.
The oracle/sql/STRUCT class is in the ojdbc14.jar, ojdbc5.jar and ojdbc6.jar so if it can't be found then that class is missing from the jar you are using (which you can tell by examining the jar contents) or the jar is missing from the classpath being used.
As already mentioned you need the Oracle 11 JDBC files to support Java 1.6
Here is the official Oracle JDBC page that shows the Oracle DB versions supported for each of the JDBC drivers available and also describes the JDBC jars and what JDK versions they support.

I just got a new computer with Windows 7 Professional (32bit) and i tried to copy my Oracle SQL Developer from an old one (v. 2.1.1.64.45) and I just couldn't find Connection menu. I tried different solutions that I find on the internet and nothing worked (also tried installing new version 3.0 EA2) and still nothing). Could you please help me because I need this app badly?
    thanks in advance

You have started this annoying discussion.
I don't have any problems with my OS instead of you.
I have already told you what to do, if you have no idea how to do that just go and buy yourself another support subscription from your mac support.
The missing class is not available from any code-source or loader in the system. check that.
what version of JAVA do you have in your fancy OS? most of the time upgrade java to the latest version will fix the issues.
Update java from sun website not from another mac tore.

  • Issue with java.lang.ClassCastException: oracle.sql.StructDescriptor

    Hi ,
I'm creating a dbadapter for a custom API written in APPS schema -
    TYPE MISIPM_LOB IS RECORD (
    FILE_ID IPM_LOBS.FILE_ID%TYPE,
    FILE_NAME IPM_LOBS.LOB_NAME%TYPE );
    TYPE MISIPM_LOB_LIST IS TABLE OF MISIPM_LOB;
    PROCEDURE GET_FILE_ID_DETAILS(
    P_SOURCE_SYSTEM IN VARCHAR2,
    p_entity_value IN VARCHAR2,
    p_entity_code IN VARCHAR2,
    P_ORG_ID IN NUMBER,
    P_MISIPM_FILES_LIST OUT MISIPM_LOB_LIST,
    P_ERRCODE OUT VARCHAR2,
    P_ERRMESSAGE OUT VARCHAR2);
From JDeveloper, there is a wrapper package is getting created and the compilation/deployment of this composite is also without any error.
But when I run the composite, I'm surprisingly getting the below error -
Exception occured when binding was invoked. Exception occured during invocation of JCA binding: "JCA Binding execute of Reference operation 'GetAttachmentMetaData' failed due to: Interaction processing error. Error while processing the execution of the APPS.BPEL_GETATTACHMENTMETADATA1.XX_DELIVER_BLOB$GET_FILE_ API interaction. An error occurred while processing the interaction for invoking the APPS.BPEL_GETATTACHMENTMETADATA1.XX_DELIVER_BLOB$GET_FILE_ API. Cause: java.lang.ClassCastException: oracle.sql.StructDescriptor Check to ensure that the XML containing parameter data matches the parameter definitions in the XSD. This exception is considered not retriable, likely due to a modelling mistake. ". The invoked JCA adapter raised a resource exception. Please examine the above error message carefully to determine a resolution.
I recreated the adapter multiple times within the composite and also tried to create a separate composite and all the cases the error message received was same. There two more similar procedure call's in the composite and all rest of them are working fine.
I can call the wrapper from sql script separately.
Verified that the XSD generated and the wrapper package parameters are matching as well.
Did anyone face the same issue or any explanation/help is much appreciated.

  • Oracle SQL template to create re-usable DDL/DML Scripts for Oracle database

    Hi,
I have a requirement to put together a Oracle SQL template to create re-usable DDL/DML Scripts for Oracle databases.
Only the Oracle DBA will be running the scripts so permissions is not an issue.
The workflow for any DDL is as follows:-
    1) New Table
    a. Check if the table exists from the system/admin views.
    b. If table exists then give message "Table Exists"
    c. If table does not exist then execute DDL code
    2) Add Column
    a. Check if Column exists for a given table from system/admin views
    b. If column exists in the specified table,
    b1. backup table.
b2. alter table to make changes to the column
b3. verify data or execute dml script convert from backup to the new change.
    c. If Column does not exist
    c1. backup table
c2. alter table to add column
c3. execute dml to populate column with default value.
The DML scripts are for populating base tables with data required for business operations.
    3) Add new row
    a. check if row exists by comparing old values of each column with new values to be added for the new record.
    b. If exists, give message row exists
    c. If not exists, add new record.
    4) Update existing record (We have createtime columns in these tables so changes can be tracked)
    a. check if row exists using primary key.
    b. If exists,
b1. deactivate the record using the "active" column of the table
b2. Add new record with the changes required.
    c. If does not exist, add new record with the changes required.
Could you please help with some ideas which can get this done accurately?
I have tried several ways, but I am not able to put together something that fulfills all requirements.
    Thank you,

First let me address your question. (This is the easy part.)
    1. The existence of tables can be found in DBA_TABLES. Query it and and then use conditional logic and execute immediate to process the DDL.
    2. The existence of table columns is found in DBA_TAB_COLUMNS. Query it and then conditionally execute your DDL. You can copy the "before picture" of the table using that same dba view, or even better, use DBMS_METADATA.
As for your DML scripts, they should be restartable, reversible, and re-run-able. They should "fail gracefully" on error, be written in such a way that they can run twice in a row without creating duplicate changes.
    3. Adding appropriate constraints can prevent invalid duplicate rows. Also, you can usually add to the where clause so that the DML does only what it needs to do without even relying on the constraint (but the constraint is there as a safeguard). Look up the MERGE statement to learn how to do an UPSERT (update/insert), which will let you conditionally "deactivate" (update) or insert a record. Anything that you cannot do in SQL can be done with simple procedural code.
Now, to the heart of the matter...
You think I did not understand your requirements?
Please be respectful of people's comments. Many of us are professionals with decades of experience working with databases and Oracle technology. We volunteer our valuable time and knowledge here for free. It is extremely common for someone to post what they feel is an easy SQL or PL/SQL question without stating the real goal--the business objective. Experienced people will spot that the "wrong question" has been asked, and then cut to the chase.
We have some good questions for you. Not questions we need answers from, but questions you need to ask yourself and your team. You need to reexamine this post and deduce what those questions are. But I'll give you some hints: Why do you need to do what you are asking? And will this construct you are asking for even solve the root cause of your problems?
Then ponder the following quotations about asking the right question:
    Good questions outrank easy answers.
    — Paul Samuelson
The only interesting answers are those which destroy the questions.
    — Susan Sontag
The scientific mind does not so much provide the right answers as ask the right questions.
    — Claude Levi-Strauss
You can tell whether a man is clever by his answers. You can tell whether a man is wise by his questions.
    — Mahfouz Naguib
One hears only those questions for which one is able to find answers.
    — Friedrich Nietzsche
Be patient towards all that is unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves.
    — Rainer Maria Rilke
What people think of as the moment of discovery is really the discovery of the question.
    — Jonas Salk
Judge a man by his questions rather than his answers.
    — Voltaire
The ability to ask the right question is more than half the battle of finding the answer.

  • JSF: partial page rendering is causing memory leak leading to outofmemory

    JDeveloper 10.1.3.2.0
    JDK: 1.6.0_06
    Operating System: Windows XP.
I test my application for memory leaks. For that purpose, I use jconsole to monitor java heap space. I have an edit page that has two dependent list components. One displays all countries and the other displays cities of the selected country.
I noticed java heap space keeps growing as I change country from country list.
I run garbage collection and memory usage does not go down. If I keep changing the province for 5 minutes, then I hit a java heap space outofmemory exception.
To narrow down the problem, I removed the second city component and the problem still exists.
To narrow it down further, I removed autosubmit attribute from the country component and then memory usage stopped increasing as I change country.
country/city partial page rendering is just an example. I am able to reproduce the same problem on every page where i use partial page rendering. My conclusion is PPR is causing memory leak or at least the autosubmit attribute.
This is really bad. Anyone out there experienced same issue. Any help/advice is highly appreciated !!
    Thanks

    Samsam,
I haven't seen this problem myself, no.
To clarify - are you seeing this behaviour when running your app in JDeveloper, or when running in an application server? If in JDeveloper, a copuple of suggestions:
    * (may not matter, but...) It's not supported to run JDev 10g with JDK 6
    * have you tried the [url http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/masterj2ee/j2ee_wk11.html]memory profiler
    Best,

  • SDO_GEOMETRY displaying in Oracle SQL Developer (freezing)

    Hi,
I am using Oracle SQL Developer (V 1.5.3) heavily at work, and have noticed some undesirable behaviour when the table's data tab is trying to display SDO_GEOMETRY. In this version (and subsequent ones) Developer tries to convert the geometry to WKT, instead of just displaying "sdo_geometry". I can see why this has been added in, however I am using many geometries that are quite large, and have extremely large sdo_ordinate_array/s . This is causing Developer to appear to be freezing while it runs the conversion, often hanging for many minutes at a time. I have briefly looked at V 2.1, and it appears to be the same.
Does anyone know if there is a check box option, or similar to switch this behaviour off? Limiting the number of rows returned has been suggested, but even when dealing with a STATES table the 9 rows needed for all 9 Australian states is far too large for a data tab display. If an option doesn't currently exist, it might be worth adding in to future versions of SQL developer.
    regards, Jeff

    Hello,
I´ve the same problem. I use version 3.0.03 (3.45) but I can´t find the possibility to change this option.
    Can someone help me?
    Thanks
    Peter

  • JAR conflicts in Oracle SQL Developer Extension

    Hi,
I am developing a extension for Oracle SQL Developer. I want to use JavaFX to show a WebView inside SQLDeveloper, so I imported such library.
When I try to use such library, the program crashes with an error (NoSuchMethodError) pointing to the constructor of JSObject. The problem is that oracle.help_5.0 (bundled with sql developer) and JavaFX (in the future is going to be bundled in jre) defines the same class (netscape.javascript.JSObject) with different implementations.
My question is that if it is possible to define/modify the ClassLoader to serve the JSObject provided by JavaFX library to the JavaFX library.
    Thank you in advance!

    Thats odd.
Do you see any exceptions in console ? (to see the console launch sqldeveloper.exe in ../sqldeveloper/sqldeveloper/bin dir.)

  • Debugging in Oracle SQL Developer

I would like to know how to debug my PL / SQL programs in the Oracle SQL Developer program using breakpoints and such. I've never known how to use debugging tools like this and since this program provides this kind of feature, I was wondering if anyone on here might be able to shine some light on this for me. How are these used? How could I use them to say, figure out what the value of a given variable might be on line whatever? Etc.
One reason I'm setting out to learn this is because I'm tired of typing DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE all the time. I would think that there must be a better way than this.
Lastly (and while we're on that subject), what would cause SQL Developer to not output a DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE line? I've given this a string of text to output to the monitor and it's not working. It's in the DECLARE section (thinking I could place these almost anywhere my tiny little heart desired, but apparently, I'm wrong?)
    Again, any insight is appreciated.

Oh, I get it... We had another pesky drop-out fishing for homework cheats again, right?
Here's a suggestion to make this forum (you know, a place where people come together who all think differently about things both deep and shallow) somewhat more accepting and useful a place for idiots like me who might happen to overlook an apparently obvious "Help" menu item with the glowing neon-colored label heading of "Table of Contents": instead of wasting your own time (let alone, others) by posting silly responses that serve arbitrary agendas for the sake of inflating one's ego and online rep points due to having a bad high school experience, why not just instead take a high road (all the real Oracle kings around here hopefully take) and either ignore the response altogether or post something at least 1% useful. Sound like a plan? Great! For instance, why not inquire about why someone posted something that might not make sense to you? It's an amazing concept...
    Because after all...
"+I'm often perplexed about the "answers" we get. Seems like you never posted your suggestions.+"
...doesn't do a lot for people who come across this thread in similar straights or perspective I was in at the time of creating it.
    That said, something like...
"+Since you're using Oracle SQL Developer, you should have a 'Help' menu item near the top of the window. Click on it and then click on 'Table of Contents'. Proceed to do as Jim suggested by locating the topic 'Running and Debugging Functions and Procedures'. In that section of the contents, you will find more information about debugging your program, tips and tricks, etc. If this doesn't help you or if you're unsure about something in general, feel free to post back and we'll try to help you further.+"
...is much more helpful and succinct. It's welcoming, objective, and very informative (not that Jim's response wasn't).
On that note, Jim, I do appreciate your response. When I first read your suggestion, I had misinterpreted what you proposed in the heat of the moment. Above all else, I also had some things going on around me that were distracting me. Thanks again. I'm reading the topic right now...
