Oracle SQL Developer for OSX not able to compile/execute/handle packages?

Hi,
Have been stuck with this for quite some mins now,
When I execute this simple -valid- create package statement in Oracle SQL Developer:
http://www.pastebin.ca/757859
It shows it's not compiled and has errors, when I check the Packages part in Oracle SQL Developer I see this:
http://www.pastebin.ca/757860
The ; after end has been removed by the application. In fact this means I can't do anything with packages in Oracle SQL Developer for OSX?
Is this a known bug?
Or am I doing something wrong?
Any resolving response to this matter would be really appreciated.

Yeah, that bug is in there since stoneage, and is really a no-brainer to fix. Until they don't, we'd be losing time recompiling.
FWIW, everything works fine using the procedure editor for creating, editing and compiling.
Regards,
K.

  • Oracle SQL Developer for personal use?

    Hello,
I would like to use Oracle to test out my SQL commands, however I do not have a connection set up (at home). Is there a way I can create databases and tables without setting up a connection to a database. If that isn't possible, is there a tutorial avaliable somewhere to set up a connection on a local machine. Operating system is Mac OSX, however I do have Windows 7 64-bit available as well. Thanks in advance for your help/sugguestions.

Without making a connection to the db, there isn't any chances that you can issue the sql statements. So you must have to have a connection with either an existing db or make a new db and get connected to it. The another way , to run sql statements, is to just connect using plain black window (terminal) using o/s authentication . This won't need any tns settings at all but you won't get that good looking GUI interface of Sql Developer as well. That's my preferred way to work with db but you may have a different preference still you can give it a try if you want to.
The setup is pretty straightforward. You need to pass the information of your host with the appropriate user name and password and it would be done. Once you start doing it, keep the thread updated with your efforts so that we can guide you in case you would face troubles.

  • How to configure Oracle Sql Developer for 9i

    Hi,
We are using oracle 9i for existing application, and i am trying to connect oracle 9i through SQL developer 1.5.1, i got an error message "Unsupported Oracle Database Version".
Appreciate if any body guide me in this.
    regards
    Husal.

After removing dictionary statistics with dbms_stats.delete_schema_stats(ownname => 'SYS') I noticed the initial SQL Developer object list query became very slow.
Removal of dictionary statistics increased the predicted Oracle optimizer (CBO) costs. Previous SYS statistics were collected perhaps without realising the consequences.
You may wish to try dbms_stats.gather_schema_stats(ownname => 'SYS', method_opt => 'FOR ALL COLUMNS SIZE AUTO', sample_size => dbms_stats.auto_sample_size).
Recent Oracle 10G versions include a gather_dictionary_stats routine.
Suggest you try this on a development DB first.

  • JDK1.5.0_06 for Oracle SQL Developer for Windows 1.5

How do I find what version of, or if any version of, the JDK is installed?
Am trying to minimize download time/space.
    Thanks in advance.

Think to check in your environment variable if CLASSPATH parameter exists to see if you've ever a JDK version or not.
If necessary, last option is to get the JDK 1.6.0_06 from :

    Hi,
I downloaded the above software, but when I try to open the zip file, I get a message saying "cannot open file, it does not appear to be a valid archive". The size of the zip file downloaded is about 57meg. I tried to download a number of times with the same result.
    Any ideas?
    thanks.

I have not the problem what you said.
You may download the one without JDK, or change the version of WinZip.

  • Oracle SQL Developer does not browse Sybase's objects

I had installed and configured jtds-1.2.5.jar in Oracle SQL Developer for Sysbase connection. Oracle SQL Developer does not browse any objects. Why? Can you please provide a solution?

    Hi,
Can you provide some more information into what you are experiencing.
What version of SQL Developer are you using?
Did you install the jtds jar under the
Tools > Preferences > Database > Third Party JDBC Driver
Is the Sybase tab available in the new connection dialog?
Did you select the default database in the connection dialog?
Can you run a query against the Sybase database from the SQL Developer worksheet?
Note that JTDS 1.2 is the only supported version. There maybe issues with other versions.

  • Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler start up error

    Hi All,
I just downloaded Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler (2.0.0.57.0) [Released 1 July 2009] by selecting the option "Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler for Windows (This zip file includes the JRE)"
After I installed the same and tried to run it by clicking datamodeler.exe, I get the following error message
"unable to create an instance of the Java virtual machine located at path:..\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll"
On the same machine I can successfuly run the Oracle SQL Develper with no errors. My machine is having Windows XP Professional SP3.
Any ideas? If there was a problem with Java, than the Oracle SQL Developer should also not run. But as stated it runs with out any error but the Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler gives the above error.
    Regards,
    JAA149

1 - The above problem has nothing to do with the memmory. I tried on a 400 MB RAM, 900 MB RAM, 1.5 MB RAM & 2 MB RAM with the same arror.
"unable to create an instance of the Java virtual machine located at path:..\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll"
    http://i30.tinypic.com/9vkwf6.jpg
    2 - There are two "datamodeler.exe: files
    One is at D:\datamodeler\datamodeler.exe
    2nd is at D:\datamodeler\bin\datamodeler.exe
The same error occurs with both the files.
3 - The Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler version is "Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler (2.0.0.57.0) [Released 1 July 2009]" and the file I downloaded is "Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler for Windows (This zip file includes the JRE) - (57M)"
    If I look in "D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\README.txt" I find
"Java(TM) Platform, Standard Edition Runtime Environment Version 6"
    If I run "D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\javacpl.exe" I get
    http://i30.tinypic.com/mt8ocn.jpg
    If I run "D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\jureg.exe" I get
    http://i28.tinypic.com/30boiyo.jpg
If i check at the control panle add/remove program
    http://i30.tinypic.com/1428tba.jpg
If I go to "http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp" and download "jre-6u16-windows-i586-s.exe" and run it.
If I go to "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6" I find the same files as in "D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre"
I am able to run Oracle SQL Developer with out any kind of error let alone the above one. But with Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler I get the above mentioned error no matter what I try.
As the error states "unable to create an instance of the Java virtual machine located at path:..\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll". The file "jvm.dll" is located at two places. One at "D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll" and the second at "D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\server\jvm.dll"
A similiar problem occurs with JDeveloper with the fllowing solution
    http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=506339&start=0&tstart=0
    Which states the following
    "hello!
in the problem with JDeveloper i have a solution. The jdk have a file jvm.dll in the path: jdk/jre/bin/client/jvm.dll this is the problem ... now in the path:jdk/jre/bin/client/ojvm has a file with the same name if you copy and paste this file to the another path, now its works fine your Jdeveloper.
Jdeveloper use two files to jvm.dll to work one in the folder /client and other in /server copy the same file to the two locations for precaution
    for me work fine thanks..."
I tried to do the same (Copy from client folder to server folder)
    D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll
    COPIED THIS FILE TO
    D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\server\jvm.dll
Nada. So I reversed it (copied from server folder to client folder)
    D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\server\jvm.dll
    COPIED THIS FILE TO
    D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll
Does not work. So I tried another solution stated at the same forum entry
    "Well,
i solved the problem by this way :
    <SQLDEVELOPER>/jdev/bin/ide.conf
In this file, change this line :
    AddVMOption -Xmx512M
    by
    AddVMOption -Xmx256M
Now, the executable is lauching correctly. No more errors with Java Virtual Machine.
But is it a good thing to solve it like that ?"
But the ide.conf file is only at "D:\sqldeveloper\ide\bin\ide.conf" which is for the SQL Developer and not the SQl Developer Data Modeler
Correct me if I am wrong but
JRE = Java Run Time Envoirment
    JDK = Java Development Kit
And Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler needs JRE and not JDK. In any case I download JDK
jdk-6u14-javafx-1_2-windows-i586.exe (121,306 KB) and installed it but no succcess.
I tried every thing except completely re-install my whole PC.
Any help will be much appreciated.
    Cordially,
    Jawad

  • Oracle sql developer downlaod problem

    hi
i put my oracle sql in C drive, but when i open it ,it gives me error like :"unable to find main class.Class specified is :oracle/ide/boot/Launcher
    can anybody has solution
    thanks a lot in advance

    I have the same issue...
    I've just downloaded
Oracle SQL Developer 2.1 Patch 1 (2.1.1.64.45) Oracle SQL Developer for 32-bit Windows (This zip file includes the JDK1.6._11)
I extract it straight to the c:\ drive making sure I select "Keep folder structure", double click the sqldeveloper.exe executable and I get
"unable to find main class.Class specified is :oracle/ide/boot/Launcher"
I noticed I have a directory and an entry in my environment path of :-
    C:\jdk\bin
which holds a JDK v5.0 in it (don't know why it's there, I didn't build the machine).
Could this be a reason for my issues?

  • Oracle SQL Developer Screen hangs up

I am facing an unusual problem in Oracle SQL Developer. When I try to compile a store procedure it hangs up the Oracle SQL Developer Screen and I can't do any activity, except to kill the SQL developer instance and start again.
But when i start he instance and try to compile it, i again get the same error.
Anybody faced such problem? I am new to oracle.
For one or two instance I waited for 5 to 10 min and got this error
ORA-04021 timeout occurred while waiting to lock object
But I am the only person working on this instance of Oracle

That would indicate some other session is currently running the proc. Check out Tools - Monitor Sessions, or the Enterprise Manager. If necessary, you can kill the locking session from both.
    Hope that helps,
    K.

  • Not able to compile wrapped package bodies.

    Hi All
Can anybody pls help me finding me the reason why I m not able to compile .plb (wrapped package body). There are no compilation errors. But when I run the .plb file (as @xyz.plb), sqlplus window hangs. No error shown. Everytime I had to close the window after waiting for 8-10 minutes.
This is happening only with 11 files out of 200.Rest were compiled.
Any ideas? Do we have any other way to wrap than using pl/sql wrap utility or pl/sql plug-in for wrapping(which is actually the same as former)??
    ThanksInAdvance!!
Keep striking the iron until it's hot!

yes, I did check for locks from pl/sql developer only. No Locks.
I waited for 10 minutes for a 6 kb .plb file to get compiled. But had to close the session after that.
    I am using oracle 10g, pl/sql developer 7.1.0.1337

Did you perhaps do a custom install? The DB software includes a version of sql developer and, by default, installs it in the sqldeveloper folder of the DB_HOME. Does that folder have sql developer in it?
I suggest that you NOT use the version of sql developer that ships with the database. That version will NOT be the current version.
Download the current version of SQL Developer, unzip it into a new folder and create a desktop icon for it.
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/downloads/index.html
The current version includes many, many bug fixes from that earlier DB version and you will have far fewer probems with it.

  • Oracle SQL Developer (Not seeing object names within the interface)

    Hello,
I was finally able to perform an export/import from our production environment to our training environment. Anyway, this was done using the SYS account and for some reason, I have an issue where in Oracle SQL Developer, there are no object names being displayed, but the objects do exist within SQLPLUS if I should query the table.
The following error message displays when I refresh any of the objects folders within SQL Developer:
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Even the term "database" has different meanings.
First thing I see, in your original post, is that you did the export/import as SYS. Was this "as sysdba"?
    From Oracle® Database Utilities
    10g Release 2 (10.2):
Invoking Export and Import As SYSDBA
SYSDBA is used internally and has specialized functions; its behavior is not the same as for generalized users. Therefore, you should not typically need to invoke Export or Import as SYSDBA, except in the following situations:
    * At the request of Oracle technical support
    * When importing a transportable tablespace set
so it's quite possible that I missed something during the import/export of the environments.
Are there any system tables that get invoked when you click on any of the objects within the connection?

  • Oracle SQL Developer  error - "The file-based source procedure Name is not present in the database."

I recently started working on the Oracle SQL developer. I have 'select' privileges on the QA schema and when tried to execute proc in QA. It is giving the error as 'The file-based source <procedure Name>  is not present in the database.  Was it compiled?'
instead 'you do not have sufficient privileges to execute this procedure'. Did research on internet but with no luck. What configuration changes needed to be done to make it work.Guide me.

Sounds like you do not have the correct privileges.  What should have been granted to you by the QA user, or some other user with appropriate privileges, is...
    grant EXECUTE on "QA"."<PROCEDURE_OF_INTEREST>" to "<YOUR_USERID>" ;
Note that a grant of execute on a procedure has nothing to do with grants of select on some or all of QA's tables and views.
So, as Vadim suggests, from your connection node in SQL Developer's Connections view, if you expand the Other Users node, then expand QA and look in the Procedures node, do you see the procedure of interest?  If not, you cannot expect to be able to execute it from your userid's connection. And even if you do see it, you may have some other privilege that permits viewing but not executing, like...
    The role SELECT_CATALOG_ROLE
The system privilege SELECT ANY DICTIONARY
And even if you do not see it there, then having certain other privileges granted to you could permit executing it in general, like...
    The role EXECUTE_CATALOG_ROLE
The system privilege EXECUTE ANY PROCEDURE
Also, note that the 3.0 release is a bit dated nowadays. Upgrading to 4.0.3 production or even the 4.1 EA2 (early adopter) release will, in general, give you a better experience.
    Best wishes,
    Gary
