Oracle Suite Practice Sessions ESB example OrderBookingESB

Hi All,
As per the Practise sessions i have created the Oracle ESB Project called OrderBookingESB and applied sipmle routing logic to it.
Able to register it into the ESB.
When i open ESB Console and try to open the WSDL it is saying that
"XML document must have a top level element. Error processing resource".
Can anybody suggest how to overcome this?
Thanks In Advance.

Hi,
I am also facing the same issue.

    Tow is printer's items
    Third is food's item's

And For item with type food's not exceed 45000usd
How to map this in oracle application
The modules implemented on my site
(GL, AP, AR, INV, PURCHASING, OM)
Please give me the oracle best practice that handle this case
    Thanks for all of you

    Hi,
It is really difficult to have Budgetary Control on Inventory Items in Average Costing enviornment as you can have only one Inventory Account at the Inventory Organization level.
You have to modify your PO / Requisition Account Generator to populate the Encumbrance Account in PO / Requisition based upon item category. Moreover, the "Reverse Encumbrance" flag in your Inventory Org needs to be unchecked so that the encumbrances are not revered when the goods are received.

  • Oracle forms multiple session

I need to populate a grid with multiple rows where multiple users can view the data in their respective login fetched from multiple tables. The users can select some configuration data in the UI to perform insert or update transactions for multiple rows to another table.
I need to uniquely identify the set of rows for each user and for each session so that I can insert or update the rows. The user also can re-query the newly inserted or updated rows to table.
Please let me know whether usage of global temporary tables can be used here.
Is there any other way to achieve the same?
The oracle stored procedure should return the result set and the oracle forms should be able to display it in the UI. I am using oracle 10g.

  • Resetting a Practice Session

I have a practice session in the middle of a lesson where the users practice certain steps of a simulated software application – it has various text entry boxes and click boxes. If the user returns to the simulation to practice it a second time, all the text entries from the previous session are still showing up. Is there anyway to reset the session without having to refresh the entire swf and navigate back to the practice session frame?

    Hi there
Sorry but my crystal ball is broken and I cannot intuit what version of Captivate you are using, so I'll have to stab at it a bit.
If you are uisng Captivate 3 or 4, you have an option labeled "Retain Text" for Text Entry Box objects. It sounds to me as if this option is enabled currently and you should consider disabling it.

    Hi Experts
How to monitor the Oracle 11g database sessions on Windows 2008 server (other than SQL Developer tool), which procedure or query is taking more time with Java application.

Recently i found this tool- myorasql on the net to monitor the performence of database, easy to setup and check the performence.  i never tested it but seems impresive.  It is free and i think it would be use ful to you.

You can also use Quest - Toad or sqlplus if you are very good at sql commands and all dictionary tables or OEM/EM grid if it is configured .

  • Where does one find the Oracle Best Practice/recommendations for how to DR

What is the Oracle Best Practice for install/deployment and configuration of ODI 11g for Disaster Recovery?
We have a project that is using Oracle ODI 11g (11.1.1.5).
We have configured all the other Oracle FMW components as per the Oracle DR EDG guides. Basically using the Host ip name/aliasing concept to ‘trick’ the secondary site into thinking
it is primary and continue working with minimal (or no) manual reconfiguration. But will this work for ODI? The FMW DR guide has sections for SOA, WebCenter and IdM, but nothing for ODI.
Since ODI stores so much configuration information in the Master Repository..when this DB gets ‘data guarded’ to the secondary site and promoted to Primary…ODI will still think it is at the ‘other’ site. Will this break the actual agents running the scenarios?
Where does one find the Oracle Best Practice/recommendations for how to DR ODI properly?
We are looking for a solution that will allow a graceful switchover/failover with minimal manual re-configuration.

  • Oracle Shared Server Session Scheduling

    Hi,
We're currently evaluating the shared server architecture for production use. As far as we know, Oracle schedules N sessions across M operating system threads, dependent on the configured limits.
An essential requirement for our production system is to be able to associate a given operating system thread belonging to an Oracle shared server process with a session (more specifically the session owner) and maintain this information externally. Because a shared server thread may handle multiple sessions in random order with interruption, the assumption that a given thread and its corresponding thread identifier always processes a specific session throughout the thread lifetime is incorrect, thus we cannot directly associate a thread and session via the thread identifier.
Does Oracle provide a way to be notified (native callback) before and/or after a shared server level scheduling "session context switch" so that a thread id could be used to associate a thread with a session at any given time?
Thanks in advance for any insights!
    cheers,
    Horst Reiterer

You can realize if your database is working in shared mode through several ways:
1.- Looking the background process at the OS level
2.- Looking some init parameters and other methods

I don't see how you'd be able to integrate OAM with EBS unless you have the oSSO (assuming of course that you're not on the bleeding edge, per 975182.1).
We are running the same configuration and have setup the redirects in OAM policy. We setup specific context roots for each application, then use OAM policy to redirect. (for example, http://iwa-server/ebs redirects to https://ebs-server)
Unique authorization rule for each redirect, then a unique "policy" on the "Policies" tab for each redirect. Each Policy maps to the respective Authorization Rule.

  • XREF best practices in ESB cluster installation-OESB10.1.3.3

    Hi,
We are using Oracle ESB during last 2 years.
2 months ago I migrated our ESB installation to ESB Cluster in production (1 ESB DT, 1 ESB RT for polling
adapters, 2 ESB RT for further message processing).
We are using SOA Suite 10.1.3.3 with MLR#17 applied.
I faced a issue with XREF (populateXRefRow XPath function) in production system and need assistance.
All our ESB Processes contains next main parts:
    1) Polling DB-adapter (or FTP-adapter, this didn't matter) that initiates a ESB process, routing service for that polling adapter
    that asyncronously (!) invokes Requestor ABC level services (AIA terms);
    2) Requestor ABC level-services perform XREF population and continues message
    processing.
XREF population is doing with next steps:
we call lookupXRefRow XPath function, if value is not present in XREF, we doing
    populateXRefRow call.
This logic is working fine when we are not using ESB cluster, but now step 2) (ReqABC level) is performed by different ESB servers
and frequently we faced unique constraint violation error on XREF_DATA
    population (during populateXrefRow call).
ESB RT nodes using to balance load but transmitted data is intersected. For example, we are poll not documents but document details instead (polling table populated by Oracle Streams, there are no guarantee that document header receives earlier than document details, because our system is high loaded and we are using commit_serialization=none with parallelism at APPLY processes).
Each ESB RT instance can receive different rows of same document and xref population done at document header level.
My question is: what is best practices to work with XREF in ESB cluster installations?
May be other peoples faced with this issue and how this issue was resolved?
I know possible workarounds to accomplish this task: not call populateXRefRow function in XSLT, instead call PL/SQL procedure or function that working same but can ignore any exceptions.
This's solution not liked to me, but I dont know any other solutions.
Also I cannot not populate XREF because XREF actively used in inter-systems communication.

  • Getting VALID_GUEST icxSession using Ebusiness Suite SDK session management

    Hi all
I have the following use case. My first question would be - is the ebusiness SDK appropriate for this use case in the first place?
I am trying to provide order invoices to customers on the web. I have an OAF page we use internally to view the pdfs. The plan is to use this page basically as a web service that provides the pdf to my application (sending users to the actual page is of course not desirable). So I am building a mid-tier RESTful web service that will hit the appropriate OAF page url, and take the input and pass it to an external app.
Of course, to access the OAF page, I need a valid icxSession. Previously, I was able to get a valid session by calling some of the icx functions through a PL SQL call. Then I extract and pass the $TWO_TASK cookie, and use it in my call to the OAF page. I then pass along the pdf I get from the OAF page as a Response. I had this working. But I understand the icx PL SQL functions are (or will soon be) deprecated, so I am trying to avoid using them if possible. And so, now I have been trying to use the Ebusiness SDK.
Is this a valid use of the SDK? I know the icx PL SQL functions are being deprecated and all, but how valid would using them be as a backup plan?
Here is my experience so far with the SDK.
I have registered the nodes, setup profile options, created the AppDataSource, and everything else in the steps found in the pdf manual (titled Oracle E-Business Suite Software Development Kit for Java). I have integrated some code into my RESTful service to use the fndext.jar(I am using Jersey by the way). Right now, I can instantiate the EBiz object with the APPL_SERVER_ID from my desktop dbc file, create the AppsRequestWrapper and Session. However, I am getting a session as a guest, not a VALID session as the new user I created with the UMX|APPS_SCHEMA_CONNECT role. I believe I have my app and the EBS instance on the same domain, so I do not think that is the problem. Could there be other reasons for this problem? Some steps to troubleshoot this would be wonderful - note I am developing the service in Eclipse, and not JDeveloper though.
So of course with a guest session, I cannot access the page. However, I have found that is I use Session.convertGuest() and pass in the user name of the user with the UMX|APPS_SCHEMA_CONNECT role, that I can now get the icx cookie value, and successfully use it to get the pdf data as I was before. So it is working like this, I am just not sure it is good practice. I expected to not need to use convertGuest at all - I thought I would have a VALID session immediately. Can someone confirm this for me - should I indeed have a VALID session as soon as I instantiate the EBiz object and create the session? Or is a VALID_GUEST session the intended initial session?
My last question is about the HttpServletRequest and HttpServletResponse objects I pass in to instantiate AppsRequestWrapper. I have not been able to find an example of this used in a RESTful web service. So to get these objects, I am using the following:
    private @Context HttpServletRequest request;
    private @Context HttpServletResponse response;
Does this seem correct, or should I be doing this some other way?
    Thanks very much
edit - one other thing. In the documentation, it talks about editing your hosts file:
"1. Open C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file on notepad. Then replace the
    line 127.0.0.1 localhost with #127.0.0.1 localhost 127.0.0.1 myapp.us.oracle.com"
I am not sure how to decipher this. It seems to be telling me to replace
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    with
    #127.0.0.1 localhost 127.0.0.1 mydomain.com
All on the same line... I don't know everything about the hosts file and how it works, but wouldn't that just be a commented out line?
Are the instructions perhaps trying to say to replace
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    with two lines:
    #127.0.0.1 localhost
    127.0.0.1 mydomain.com
That seems to make more sense to me, but I wanted to clarify since it is not clear in the pdf.

    Hi,
Regarding the host file change in the documentation: The EBS SDK routines require that your external application, which is typically on a separate machine from the EBS installation, must be on the same domain (such as oracle.com) as the EBS installation. In development, we are often working from machines (like a laptop) that are not on the same domain as the EBS instances we are using, so for testing purposes we often need to make our "external application" machines LOOK like they are in the same domain. This is ONLY for testing purposes.
    Thanks,
    Sara

  • Require official Oracle Best Practices about PSU patches

A customer complained about the following
Your company statements are not clear...
On your web page - http://www.oracle.com/security/critical-patch-update.html
    The following is stated!
    Critical Patch Update
Fixes for security vulnerabilities are released in quarterly Critical Patch Updates (CPU), on dates announced a year in advance and published on the Oracle Technology Network. The patches address significant security vulnerabilities and include other fixes that are prerequisites for the security fixes included in the CPU.
The major products patched are Oracle Database Server, Oracle Application Server, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle Collaboration Suite, Oracle E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft Enterprise Tools, PeopleSoft CRM, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, JD Edwards OneWorld XE, Oracle WebLogic Suite, Oracle Communications and Primavera Product Suite.
Oracle recommends that CPUs be the primary means of applying security fixes to all affected products as they are released more frequently than patch sets and new product releases.
    BENEFITS
    * Maximum Security—Vulnerabilities are addressed through the CPU in order of severity. This process ensures that the most critical security holes are patched first, resulting in a better security posture for the organization.
    * Lower Administration Costs—Patch updates are cumulative for many Oracle products. This ensures that the application of the latest CPU resolves all previously addressed vulnerabilities.
    * Simplified Patch Management—A fixed CPU schedule takes the guesswork out of patch management. The schedule is also designed to avoid typical "blackout dates" during which customers cannot typically alter their production environments.
    PROGRAM FEATURES
    * Cumulative versus one-off patches—The Oracle Database Server, Oracle Application Server, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle Collaboration Suite, Oracle Communications Suite and Oracle WebLogic Suite patches are cumulative; each Critical Patch Update contains the security fixes from all previous Critical Patch Updates. In practical terms, the latest Critical Patch Update is the only one that needs to be applied if you are solely using these products, as it contains all required fixes. Fixes for other products, including Oracle E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft Enterprise Tools, PeopleSoft CRM, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, and JD Edwards OneWorld XE are released as one-off patches, so it is necessary to refer to previous Critical Patch Update advisories to find all patches that may need to be applied.
    * Prioritizing security fixes—Oracle fixes significant security vulnerabilities in severity order, regardless of who found the issue—whether the issue was found by a customer, a third party security researcher or by Oracle.
    * Sequence of security fixes—Security vulnerabilities are first fixed in the current code line. This is the code being developed for a future major release of the product. The fixes are scheduled for inclusion in a future Critical Patch Update. However, fixes may be backported for inclusion in future patch sets or product releases that are released before their inclusion in a future Critical Patch Update.
    * Communication policy for security fixes—Each Critical Patch Update includes an advisory. This advisory lists the products affected by the Critical Patch Update and contains a risk matrix for each affected product.
    * Security alerts—Security alerts provide a notification designed to address a single bug or a small number of bugs. Security Alerts have been replaced by scheduled CPUs since January 2005. Unique or dangerous threats can still generate Security Alert email notifications through MetaLink and the Oracle Technology Network.
Nowhere in that statement is the Patch Set Update even mentioned. If Oracle intends to recommend to all customers that Patch Set Updates are the recommended means of Patching for Security and Functionality then it should be stated so here!
    Please clarify!
Where can I find the current information so that I can use to Official Oracle statement as a reference for my Enterprise Practices and Standards document? The individual patch package references you are giving me do not state Oracle recommended Best Practice, they only speak to the specific patch package they describe. These do not help me in making an Enterprise statement of Practices and Standards.
I need to close the process out to capture a window of availability for Practices and Standards approval.
Do we have any Best Practice document about PSU patches available for customers?

Application Team wanted to change Byte to Char on Varchar2 columns to accommodate Multi byte character  on couple of production tables.
Wanted to know is it safe to have mixture of BYTE and CHAR semantics in the same table i have read on the couple of documents that It's good practice to avoid using a mixture of BYTE and CHAR semantics columns in the same table.
No change is needed to 'accommodate Multibyte characters'. That support has NOTHING to do with whether a column is specified using BYTE or CHAR.
In 11g the limit for a VARCHAR2 column is 4000 bytes, period. If you specify CHAR and try to insert 1001 characters that each take 4 bytes you will get an exception since that would require 4004 bytes and the limit is 4000 bytes.
In practice the use of CHAR is mostly a convenience to the developer when defining columns for multibyte characters. For example for a NAME column you might want to make sure Oracle will allocate room for 50 characters REGARDLESS of the actual length in bytes.
If you provide a name of 50 one byte characters then only 50 bytes will be used. Provide a name of 50 four byte characters and 200 bytes will be used.
So if  that NAME column was defined using BYTE how would you know what length to use for the column? Fifty BYTES will seldom be long enough and 200 bytes SEEMS large since the business user wants a limit of FIFTY characters.
That is why such columns would typically use CHAR; so that the length (fifty) defined for the column matches the logical length of the number of characters.
What happens if we have mixture of BYTE and CHAR semantics columns in the same table?
Nothing happens - Oracle could care less.
Do we need to gather stats & rebuild indexes on the table after these column changes .
No - not if you by 'need' you mean simply because you made ONLY that change.
But that begs the question: if the table already exists, has data and has been in use without their being any problems then why bother changing things now?
In other words: if it ain't broke why try to fix it?
So back to your question of 'best practices'
Best practices is to set the length semantics at the database level when the database is first created and to then use that same setting (BYTE or CHAR) when you create new objects or make DDL changes.
Best practices is also to not fix things that aren't broken.
See the 'Length Semantics' section of the globalization support guide for more best practices

    One more thing to add:
I am not able to get any of the examples to work with Oracle database. Again the only thing I suppose I need to change are the folloowing lines in the EmployeeProject.java
         login.usePlatform(new oracle.toplink.internal.databaseaccess.OraclePlatform());
         login.setDriverClassName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
         login.setConnectionString("jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1522:fims");
         login.setUserName("kumarv");
         login.setEncryptedPassword("7AD96CD575D1A7FCAA504BA7E4FC");
Also one line change in the sessions.xml file to use the OraclePlatform instead of the HSQLPlatform.
Has any one got these to work with Oracle, Any help is really appreciated.
classes12.jar is in the classpath so I don;t understand why I get the execption that:
[java] EXCEPTION DESCRIPTION: Configuration error. Class [oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver] not found.
