Oracle Sysdba logon and password
Hi, all the Oracle specialists:
I tried to logon on an Oracle server which we don't know the password for sysdba.
Usually when I get on to the Oracle server, I can log on as sysdba using the following command:
svrmgr>connect / as sysdba
or
svrmgr>connect internal
both returns me "insufficient priviledges". If I am the system administrator for the server, I should be able to log on to Oracle with no problems, are I wrong?
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Maggie
make sure the O/S user that you are using is part of the dba group. I think this group is called ORA_DBA on windows.
you can try: connect sys/change_on_install as sysdba
this will work if the sys password has not been changed

Forgot my oracle 11g username and password
hi all
forgot my oracle 11g username and password , how can i recover them although i tried multiple ways as using / as sysdba and it didnot work .Please in addition to your own words, post full copy-paste of command line sessions including actual error messages (e.g. cannot access database is not an actual error).
Try from a command window (cmd), assuming Windows platform:
sqlplus / as sysdba
If it says "Connected to idle instance.", try:
SQL> startup
Did you just install XE or was it working before and now suddenly it doesn't? (what changed in the latter case?)

hello I am French subscriber to Itunes but would also like to download books or movies from English or Spanish platform. Itunes is refusing my "French" logon and password, and refusing creation of new ones as well. Any solution ?
You can buy ONLY from the itunes store of your country of residence ( proven by the valid billing address of your credit card) AND ONLY while physically located inside the borders of that country.

Validate Oracle Apps Username and Password via ADF?
Hello. I'm trying to verify a persons user id and password in ADF 11g. I snagged the FND classes to be able to do this, and am calling it as follows:
AppsContext ac = new AppsContext("/home/workspace/idev.dbc");
boolean loginStatusCode = ac.getSessionManager().validateLogin(userName, password);
if(loginStatusCode == true)
return "success";
else
return "failure";
This works in the Application Module tester, and works as a standalone program. However, when I run it in weblogic I get a class cast exception (this can be fixed by removing the ojdbc5 & 6 files in the lib folder and replacing them with the ojdbc14 jar) Unfortunately, it fixes that problem but then all the ADF stuff breaks.
Has anyone used Oracles apps security for logging in a user? Or, is there a way to have Weblogic use the ojdbc14.jar for a singular deployment? Here's the class cast I get:
oracle.jbo.JboException: JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: java.lang.IllegalAccessError, msg=tried to access class oracle.jdbc.driver.OraclePreparedStatement from class oracle.apps.fnd.common.ProfileCache
Thanks in advance.Hi,
you can also validate an FND login using the FND_WEB_SEC.validate_login package if it's easier.

Profile Parameters for Logon and Password (Login Parameters)
I've upgraded SM3.2 to SM4.0 and now users can create password with 40 characters. I want to return to max 8 letters in password and to big letters in password. I' haven't found appropriate parameter. Does parameter login/password_downwards_compatibility provide me compatybility to old login parameters?
Hi,
Also follow the following
/people/sap.user72/blog/2005/10/19/attention-security-administrators-new-password-rules-are-on-their-way
After SAP NetWeaver 6.40, the password hash algorithm is changed from MD5 to SHA-1. This means that more secure hash values, which are not backward-compatible, and which make reverse engineering attacks difficult, can be generated. By default, new systems generate two hash values: a backward-compatible value and a new value. However, you can configure the system so that only the new hash value, which is not backward-compatible, is generated. You can set the degree of backward compatibility with the profile parameter login/password_downwards_compatibility.
The system can determine the type (new or old) of the current user password at any time. During logon, the system calculates the password hash based on the entered data and in accordance with the information from the user master record (see the hash procedure used) and compares the hash values. The system decides itself which part of the entered password is evaluated.
· If the user master record shows that the users password was encrypted with the old password hash algorithm, the system only evaluates the first eight characters and converts these to upper-case
· If the user master record shows that the users password is encrypted with the new password hash algorithm, the system evaluates all characters as they were entered (up to 40 characters, with no conversion to upper-case).
The new functions do not initially have any consequences after the upgrade; the operation of the system and password queries continue to run as usual. The passwords of the new type gradually replace the passwords of the old type.
Do reward with points.

Crystal Report always requires sa logon and password
I have created a simple crystal report, with two parameters (date range) and added it to the main menu using the Report and Layout Manager, in 8.8 PL19 HF. The first time I run the report, after each logon, I am prompted for the sa password. How can I avoid this? Not only do I not want to give all of my users the sa password, but I don't want them to have to deal with the hassle of entering it. The report works fine otherwise.
I saw some notes similar to this, but never really saw an actual fix provided.
Thanks for any helpHi,
1. Are you using the SAP connection? If you have, but problem persist, try the following steps.
2. If you are using ODBC connection, then try OLEDB connection.
3. If you have created the report on your laptop (eg: ABC) with connection to (eg:ABC) and then you import the report to SAP server (eg: named SAP), then open the report in Crystal and reset location to SAP. -

In case you are using WS-over-EJB you can try to implement something like described in this <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/21/f8424089ff2571e10000000a155106/frameset.htm">tutorial</a>.
If you need user cridentials, check

Default username and password for 10g
hey guys does anyone noe the default username and password for the sql plus? version 10g
SQL*Plus does not need a username and password. E.g.
/home/oracle> sqlplus /nolog

SQL> prompt Hello World
Hello World
SQL>
Connecting to an Oracle database instance usually requires one to supply Oracle database authentication, e.g. a schema name and password. Unless of course the database uses external authentication in which case you do not need to manually specify an Oracle schema name and password.
Yes, using SQL*Plus as a client to connect to an Oracle database server typically requires a scheme name and password.
It is important to understand the difference - SQL*Plus is a CLI (Command Line Interface) client to Oracle. It is not the database. SQL*Plus does not need a username or password to load and use.
Granted, it is not of much use when not connected to an Oracle instance, but that does not change the point that SQL*Plus itself does not need authentication. -
Why does firefox want a login and password
I deleted firefox and tried Bing now I have deleted Bing and have redownloaded firefox but it will not open I wants a logon and password. How can I fix this
Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
*Firefox 20.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_Firefox
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.

Cannot logon to OEM with the oracle/oracle name and password -- what is it?
Installed off the DVD just fine.
started emctrl just fine.
Firefox -> localhost:1158/em
and I get the logon screen as expected.
oracle/oracle does not work as expected. The greeting I get logging into the shell is oracle/oracle unless otherwise noted but I see no notes.
Very frustrated -- what did I miss?Replying just for someone's reference in future: I installed Oracle Linux 5 VM and struggled to login to OEM of 11g using url: localhost:1158/em
First thing I realized I need to start the database.
secondly here is username and password which worked for me:
Username: sys
Password: oracle -
What are the default userid and password to logon to Oracle Applications
What are the default userids and passwords to logon to Oracle Applications Manager?
There r no any default password for Application Manager,
However userID is applmgr and if I have to create a password for applmgr I would do that as welcome or welcome1 so the applmgr user can change it when he/she log on first time as needed. -
What is the default user name and password for oracle databse 10g
Hi: gurus, I just recently installed the oracle 10g personal edition and trying to log on to the enterprise manger, but can't figure it out the user name and password, can some one help me and tell me what is the default user name and password to logon to the oracle instance. BTW during the installation I choose two passowrds one for the schema and one for the global database orcl. I wonder will I be using one of these passwords. Still I don't have any clue for the "User Name".
thankssystem/manager and sys/change_on_install are still valid default passwords when database is manually created. If DBCA was used, passwords will be those defined at creation time inside DBCA.
In case passwords have been forgotten, those can be reset:
From an OS commnad prompt, set ORACLE_SID, ORACLE_HOME and PATH environment variables, just to make sure you are pointing to the right Oracle Home installation, and issue:
OS> sqlplus / as sysdba
SQL> alter user sys identified by yourNewSysPassword;
SQL> alter user system identified by yourNewSystemPassword;
And you're done with it.
