Oracle Text, ctxsys.context problem with number column

Hi,
DB 11.2.0.3
Is there any solution to create ctxsys.context index on number column ? Or I have to create other index type ?
When I try do that (create ctxsys.context index), I get
09:01:18  ORA-29855: wystąpił błąd przy wykonywaniu podprogramu ODCIINDEXCREATE  (An error has occurred in the performance of the subprogram)
09:01:18  ORA-20000: Oracle Text - błąd: (- error:)
09:01:18  DRG-10509: niepoprawna kolumna tekstowa: ITEM_TYPE (invalid text column:)
09:01:18  ORA-06512: przy "CTXSYS.DRUE", linia 160
09:01:18  ORA-06512: przy "CTXSYS.TEXTINDEXMETHODS", linia 366Btw, is there possible to search like "*LIKE %123%*" clause any of index (in contains) ?

The multi_column_datastore says that the text to be indexed should be fetched from the supplied COLUMNS list rather than from the actual column the index is created on.
So in this case we're fetching the contents of "theNumber" column, converting it to text, and indexing it.
You don't necessarily need a dummy column, if "a_title" is a varchar column you could create the index on that instead.
For example:
SQL> create table mytab( a_id number, a_code number, a_title varchar2(80), a_subtitle varchar2(80), a_info clob );
Table created.
SQL> insert into mytab values ( 12, 9812376, 'foo is the title',
  2  'foobar is the subtitle', 'the info column will not be indexed' );
1 row created.
SQL> exec ctx_ddl.drop_preference( 'myds' )
PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
SQL> exec ctx_ddl.create_preference( 'myds', 'MULTI_COLUMN_DATASTORE' )
PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
SQL> exec ctx_ddl.set_attribute( 'myds', 'COLUMNS', 'a_code, a_title, a_subtitle' )
PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
SQL> create index myindex on mytab (a_title) indextype is ctxsys.context
  2  parameters ('datastore myds');
Index created.
SQL> select a_id from mytab where contains (a_title, '%123%') > 0;
      A_ID
        12
SQL> select a_id from mytab where contains (a_title, 'foo') > 0;
      A_ID
        12If you want to be able to search within a particular column, then add "section group CTXSYS.AUTO_SECTION_GROUP" to the parameters clause, and you can then do:
SQL> select a_id from mytab where contains (a_title, 'foobar WITHIN a_subtitle') > 0;
      A_ID
        12

  • Oracle Text -- ctxsys.context

    Hi
    We are creating a oracle text index on one table . The table contains 200 million records
    The script is failing in the middle by giving the error unable to extend temp segement by 128 in temp table space.
    Can you please provide any suggestions of how this issue can be rectified.
    Also Can we use nosort option with text indexes.
    Regards
    Ramakrishna

    Are you using automatic PGA work area sizing?
    You could switch to manual for this session and override sort_area_size.
    Also, memory parameters of index can be changed.

  • Problem with checkbox column in matrix

    Hello.
    I have a little problem with checkbox column in matrix.
    Column is binded to the UserData.
    It has ValOn="Y", ValOff="N".
    I use C++. It is wird problem. In matrix I have 10 columns - scrollbar role and if You want see checkbox column, You must role to the right. If this column is on the screen, and I use:
    checkcell->PutChecked(VARIANT_TRUE);
    then the checkbox is cheched, and if the checkbox isn`t on the screen and I use this comment - it nothing happening.
    I tried to use ValOn="Y", PutChecked...
    The problem i solved if the column is on the screen - if the column is first in matrix or second, but if it`s last I have a big problem.
    My column with checkbox is not editable, but I tried to make it editable, check it, and then make it uneditable - the same efect.
    How can I solve it ?
    Sorry for my english.
    Kamil Wydra

    Hello Kamil,
    I am not sure about your problem, but here is an example of how to use checkbox in UI API.
    First, create the matrix with checkbox column in Screen painter, and the output is an xml file, like this. Type as 121 indicates that it is a check box.
    - <column AffectsFormMode="0" backcolor="-1" description="" disp_desc="0" editable="0" right_just="0" title="Rented" type="121" uid="Rented" val_off="N" val_on="Y" visible="1" width="41">
      <databind alias="U_RENTED" databound="1" table="@VIDS" />
      <ExtendedObject />
    Second, bind the column to table from DB. This is a bug of 2004 Screen Painter, so if you are using 2005 Screen Painter, there is no problem.
    Third, when you open the form, you can check and uncheck the cell.
    BTW, please set the editable of the column to true.
    Hope this helps,
    Nick

  • Problem with blob column index created using Oracle Text.

    Hi,
    I'm running Oracle Database 10g 10.2.0.1.0 standard edition one, on windows server 2003 R2 x64.
    I have a table with a blob column which contains pdf document.
    Then, I create an index using the following script so that I can do fulltext search using Oracle Text.
    CREATE INDEX DMCS.T_DMCS_FILE_DF_FILE_IDX ON DMCS.T_DMCS_FILE
    (DF_FILE)
    INDEXTYPE IS CTXSYS.CONTEXT
    PARAMETERS('DATASTORE CTXSYS.DEFAULT_DATASTORE');
    However, the index is not searchable and I check the following tables created by database for my index and found them to be empty as well !!
    DR$T_DMCS_FILE_DF_FILE_IDX$I
    DR$T_DMCS_FILE_DF_FILE_IDX$K
    DR$T_DMCS_FILE_DF_FILE_IDX$N
    DR$T_DMCS_FILE_DF_FILE_IDX$R
    I wonder what's wrong with it.
    My user has been granted the ctx_app role and I have other tables that store plain text which I use Oracle Text are fine. I even output the blob column and save as pdf file and they are fine.
    However the database seems like not indexing my blob column although the index can be created without error.
    Please advise.
    Really appreciate anyone who can help.
    Thank you.

    The situation is I have already loaded a few pdf document into the table's blob column.
    After I create the Oracle text index on this blob column, I find the system generated index tables listed in my earlier posting are empty, except for the 4th table.
    Normally we'll see words inside the table where those are the words indexed by oracle text on my document.
    As a result, no matter how i search for the index using select statement with contains operator, it will not give me any result.
    I feel weird why the blob is not indexed. The content of the blob are actually valid because I tested this by export the content back to pdf and I can still view and search within the pdf.

    Jap.

  • Oracle Text - CTX Context Index Soundex Problem

    Hi,
    I'm running into a problem with Oracle Text when searching using the ! (soundex) option. I've created a simple test example to highlight the issue.
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bit
    Windows 2008 Server 64-bit
    create table test_tab (test_col  varchar2(200));
    insert all
      into test_tab (test_col) values ('ab-tönes')
      into test_tab (test_col) values ('ab-tones')
      into test_tab (test_col) values ('abtones')
      into test_tab (test_col) values ('ab tones')
      into test_tab (test_col) values ('ab-tanes')
      select * from dual
    select * from test_tab
    begin
          ctx_ddl.create_preference ('test_lex1', 'basic_lexer');
          ctx_ddl.set_attribute ('test_lex1', 'whitespace', '/\|-_+&''');
          ctx_ddl.set_attribute('test_lex1','base_letter','YES');
          -- ctx_ddl.set_attribute('test_lex1','skipjoins','-');
    end;
    create index test_idx on test_tab (test_col)
      indextype is ctxsys.context
        parameters
          ('lexer        test_lex1'
    select token_text from dr$test_idx$i;
    TOKEN_TEXT
    AB
    ABTONES
    TANES
    TONES
    select * from test_tab where contains (test_col, '!ab tones') > 0;
    TEST_COL
    ab-tönes
    ab-tones
    ab tones
    select * from test_tab where soundex(test_col) = soundex('ab tones');
    TEST_COL
    ab-tönes
    ab-tones
    abtones
    ab tones
    ab-tanes
    So my question is, can anyone suggest an approach whereby I can get the Oracle Text Context index (or CTXCAT index if it's more appropriate) to return all 5 rows like the simple Soundex is doing?
    I can't really use soundex as this search query will form part of a search screen for a multi-language application. Soundex is limited to English sounding words, so I need the solution to be able to compare strings that may not "sound" English.
    It must be an attribute of the BASIC_LEXER, and I've tried skipjoins, start/end-joins, stop lists, but I just cannot get the Soundex feature of Oracle Text to function like the SOUNDEX() function!
    Looking at how the tokens are stored dr$test_idx$i I need Oracle Text to almost concat 'AB' and 'TONES' to search as a single string.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    I am not getting the same problem that you are getting with the umlat, but I don't see what is different.  Please post the result of:

    Here are the results on my system.  Perhaps you can spot the difference.  I added an empty_stoplist, so that it won't print out a long list of stopwords.

  • Problem with MULTI-COLUMN Data Store

    I am using multi column store on 2 CLOB columns in the table while creating a context index. After creating the context index, when i run my contains clause for certain words; it actually returns all the records in that table. When i search the $i table for these words, it shows that the word occurs in all the records even though it doesn't. I assume that when indexing the words, the special characters aren't being handled at all. So, i need a way to efficiently handle the special characters in the text. Also, need to know; how are the special characters handled when context index is created on a single column (As i haven't been facing any problems when mining data such columns).
    The script i used for creating the context index is given below :
    BEGIN
    ctx_ddl.create_preference ('MLT_COLUMN_STORE', 'MULTI_COLUMN_DATASTORE');
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute ('MLT_COLUMN_STORE',
    'columns',
    'column1,column2'
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'CREATE INDEX routine_task_ctx_idx '
    || 'ON routine_table (column1) '
    || 'INDEXTYPE IS CTXSYS.CONTEXT '
    || 'PARAMETERS '
    || '(''DATASTORE MLT_COLUMN_STORE'
    || ' FILTER CTXSYS.NULL_FILTER'
    || ' STOPLIST CTXSYS.EMPTY_STOPLIST'
    || ' LEXER CTXSYS.BASIC_LEXER'')'
    || ' PARALLEL 2';
    END;

    Hi,
    is it possible to give an example of how your data looks like? What are these special characters? Oracle Text includes option like printjoins and skipjoins which give special meanings to characters. So an example will guide us for helping you.

  • Problem with number-fields in csv-Export-Files

    Hello,
    the export with the csv option works fine and our users like this export-function.
    But Unfortunatelly we have some problems with the exported number fields. In my region I defined the field with a format mask.
    On the screen it looks fine but when I change to csv the values are exported as text-values.
    So in excel the columns are shown with left alignment.
    When I try to change the format in excel to number, excel change the column type but not the value inside.
    On this account we cannot use the sum-function and the display of the value is wrong (alignment).
    Which possibilities do I have to resolve that problem?
    Thanks in advance
    Ulrike

    I have the same issue - Anyone any ideas on how to export currency values in a report to excel as numbers?

  • Oracle Text contain query limit with 9i

    The Oracle Text contain query is defined as this:
    CONTAINS(
    [schema.]column,
    text_query VARCHAR2
    [,label NUMBER])
    RETURN NUMBER;
    Is the size limit of text_query 4000 bytes with 9i? Is it increased with 10g or is it accepting CLOB in 10g?
    I always got the error: "ORA-01460: unimplemented or unreasonable conversion requested" when I do the following where p_var was dynamically passed with size of more than 4000 bytes:
    p_statement varchar2(20000);
    p_var varchar2(8000);
    p_statement := select count(*) from dewey_table where contains(concat, :x)>0;
    open m_cursor for p_statement using p_var;
    Thanks very much,
    Kevin

    The limit is definitely 4000 characters in 9i and the 10g documentation shows no change in the calling spec for that parameter.

  • Oracle 9i, Rel.2 - Problems with dynam statement and cursor

    Hello,
    I have the following problem with Oracle 9i, Release 2:
    I have a SQL-statement, which I create with the help of a configuration table. That means I don’t know how this statement looks at runtime. It could be look like this:
    SELECT Att1, Att2, Att3
    FROM Tab1
    or this…
    SELECT Att1, Att2
    FROM Tab1
    or this…
    SELECT Att1
    FROM Tab1
    etc.
    That means I don’t know in advance how many columns will be in the select-clause.
    Here my code snippet until here:
    v_query_str := 'SELECT ' || v_select_clause_str
    || ' FROM cb.' || v_table;
    ,,v_select_clause_str" willl be created dynamically
    ,,v_table" is as well from the config-table
    Now I want to iterate through the result of the query and do further processing.
    For this reason I wanted to use a cursor, iterate through the rows and save every value of each row in an own variable (but I don’t know the number of columns!!!).
    But how can I open a cursor and iterate through it without knowing the number of columns???
    The following code is NOT working:
    TYPE t_dataColumnComp IS TABLE OF VARCHAR2(200);
    a_dataColumnComp t_dataColumnComp;
    --here I create the query…
    v_query_str := 'SELECT ' || v_select_clause_str
    || ' FROM cb.' || v_table;
    OPEN c_tempAtt FOR v_query_str;
    LOOP
    FETCH c_tempAtt INTO a_dataColumnComp; --THIS DON’T WORK
    EXIT WHEN c_tempAtt%NOTFOUND;
    FOR i IN 1..a_dataColumnComp.COUNT
    LOOP
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(a_dataColumnComp(i));
    END LOOP;
    END LOOP;
    CLOSE c_tempAtt; --close cursor variable
    Regards
    Homer

    You will need to use DBMS_SQL to handle this since the number of columns in the result set is not known until runtime.
    See here for an example of using DBMS_SQL:

    using JDBC. Can you anybody help, please?

  • Best way to implement oracle TEXT on multiple tables with regular updates

    Hi,
    I have the following situation:
    5 tables where we want full text search on multiple columns.
    Some of the tables have a master/detail relation. (1 to 1000, or more)
    because of the number of transactions on these tables we can't have a lag in the sync time.
    Currently I have create a dummy table just for the search with 2 columns: for the primary key to all the other tables and one for the update trigger.
    I use the user_datastore with a procedure to join all the necessary columns resulting in a clob.
    My question is regarding the update.
    Of course I can create triggers to update the dummy field in the search table, but this will give lot of updates on that table with possible locking issues.
    What would be the best approach to have this search functionality working?
    I am open for any ideas!
    Thanks,
    Edward

    Ok, I will focus on building a solution on 12c.
    right now I have used a USER_DATASTORE with a procedure to glue all the field together in one document.
    This works fine for the search.
    I have created a dummy table on which the index is created and also has an extra field which contains the key related to all the tables.
    So, I have the following tables:
    dummy_search
    contracts
    contract_ref
    person_data
    nac_data
    and some other tables...
    the current design is:
    the index is on dummy_search.
    When we update contracts table a trigger will update dummy_search.
    same configuration for the other tables.
    Now we see locking issues when having a lot of updates on these tables as the same time.
    What is you advice for this situation?
    Thanks,
    Edward

  • Problems with varchar2 column and a select statement

    Hi to all,
    I am new to ODP...so I would really appreciate your help..
    I am having problems with using the following code:
    con.ConnectionString = "User Id=bla;Password=bla;Data Source=bla;";
    string cmdQuery = "SELECT * from try where data ="+textBox1.Text+"";
    OracleCommand cmd = new OracleCommand(cmdQuery);
    cmd.Connection = con;
    cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text;
    OracleDataReader reader = cmd.ExecuteReader();
    while (reader.Read())
    MessageBox.Show(reader.GetString(0)+"");
    cmd.Dispose();
    con.Close();
    where:
    data is the name of a field in the table
    textBox1 is the name of a text box where the user inserts the values..
    The error that appears is "Invalid identifier"..
    I hope it makes sense...and please help...

    Hi,
    I'm fairly sure it IS the single quotes actually. Print out the string you're trying to excute, then try it outside odp.net, does it work?
    For example:
    SQL> select * from dual where dummy=foo;
    select * from dual where dummy=foo
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00904: "FOO": invalid identifier
    SQL> select * from dual where dummy='foo';
    no rows selected
    Cheers,
    Greg

  • Problem with Stacked Columns in Business Graphics

    Hi,
    Has anyone used the stacked columns chart type in business graphics?  Am facing a problem with this.
    I am using the SimpleGraphics example demo with 2 dataseries, the values ranging from 0-10.  It works fine if the chart type is Columns (this is default).  When I change the chart type to stacked_columns, the graph goes for a toss.  The y-axis range automatically changes to 0-1 (values as 0, 0.2, 0.4 ... 1.0) and it does not display stacked columns as expected.
    Is there any specific property(s) that need to be set for this chart type?
    Appreciate any quick response.
    cheers,
    Vittal
