Create Oracle Text stoplist in Java with PL/SQL

Hi, I need help with this
I do connection Oracle database with Java by using JDBC. I need create stoplist in my
Oracle Text application that I create with PL/SQL procedure. I want to add stopwords to
this stoplist directly in Java therefore I must create this procedure in Java.
This procedure is:
begin
ctx_ddl.create_stoplist('mystop', 'BASIC_STOPLIST');
ctx_ddl.add_stopclass('mystop', 'NUMBER');
ctx_ddl.add_stopword('mystop', 'word1');
end;
CTX_DDL is package in Oracle Text. This procedure runs functions directly on Oracle no
problems. I don´t know - how create this procedure in Java and run this in Oracle by
using JDBC. Can you anybody help, please?

> The problem is that we have a compatibility problem with LDAP. When I try to retrieve information
in LDAP, I have strange characters that appears instead of accents like é,è,ë or whatever... someone
in my developement team has the same problem and he solved it using java.naming.ldap.version and put
it in version 2. The problem is that he developed in Java and I am in PL/SQL. That's the problem...
No. That is not the problem.
The problem is that you have no clue what the problem is, and now jump at the first available thing that seems to be a solution for this unknown problem. And who knows just how many other problems this so-called solution will now introduce... never mind whether or not the root cause of the original problem will be solved by this solution.
Software engineering does not work like this.
Software engineering says:  Identify the Problem.
  Analyse the Problem.
  Solve the ProblemAll you have identified is a symptom of some problem. A character set issue. How about identifying the actual problem and then solving that problem comprehensively?

  • Create Oracle Text Index from Java via JDBC

    Hi, I have a question relevant to creation of the Text Index in Oracle Text via Java JDBC.
    In Java I create client application and I connect to remote Oracle server. (there is Oracle
    10g Enterprise Edition 10.2.0.3.0 on Debian Linux OS). In Java I create query:
    CREATE INDEX index_name ON source_tab(text) indextype is ctxsys.context
    parameters('datastore ctxsys.file_datastore filter ctxsys.null_filter');
    and I start it by:
    PreparedStatement stmt = db.prepareStatement(query);
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery();
    There is problem that Text Index is created empty and when I write out error log then:
    DRG-11513: unable to open or write to file "path"
    I have on my computer Oracle XE 10g (Windows XP OS) here this application in Java functions
    without problems. Without problems it´s with that same query in SQLPlus when I connect at
    this remote Oracle server via PuTTY.
    Do you know anybody where could be error? Or at worst case where find I more detailed
    manual about JDBC Oracle mainly possible errors and problems with compatibility?

    Does it work if you don't use "file_datastore"?
    Eg. try the following in sqlplus:
    create table t (text varchar2(2000));
    insert into t values ('hello world');
    create index ti on t(text) indextype is ctxsys.context;
    select * from t where contains (text, 'hello') > 0;
    Then drop the index ti and try the same "create index" through JDBC. Does that work?
    If so, then we have some kind of issue with the file_datastore. I assume you are aware that the file will be read by the SERVER, not from the client?
    So if your database resides on a Linux box, but you are calling from a Java program on a windows PC, the file names in source_tab(text) must be in Linux format, and must refer to files which are available on the Linux server (and readable by the owner of the Oracle database process).
    So /home/me/file.txt might work, but C:\Documents\file.txt will not.

    Hi,
    it works if you put an extra PARAMETERS clause at the end so the creation looks like:

    When it was explained to me it didn't sound to hard of a task, I have no LabVIEW experience and the tutortial sucks.

    StevenD: FYI, I did NOT give you the one star rating. I would never do that!

    Well, this is an assignment, so it is probably homework.
    Why else would anyone give HIM such an assigment, after all he has no LabVIEW experience and the tutorials are too hard for him?
    This would make no sense unless all of it was just covered in class!

    OK! Let's do it step by step. I assume you already have a VI with the digital indicators.
    "...but have no idea where to begin".
    open notepad.
    decide on a format, possibly one line per indicator.
    type the document.
    close notepad.
    open LabVIEW.
    Open the existing VI with all the indicators.
    (are you still following?)
    look at the diagram.
    Who made the program?
    Does the code make sense so far?
    Is it a statemachine or just a bunch of crisscrossed wires?
    Where do you want to add the file read?
    How should the file be read (after pressing a read button, at the start of the program ,etc.)
    See how far you get!

  • How to use Java with PL/SQL commands to send an email with attachment

    Apologizes in advance if this is the wrong place to ask the question.
    I need to use Java with PL/SQL commands to send an email with attachment. My java application runs from the command line and does some magic to gather info from an Oracle 11g db. If the DB has sendmail configured, I'd like to send the results of the data gathering as an attachment to the email addresses. I'm not sure how to do this. I've been reading up on on PL/SQL can send email with UTL_SMTP - with attachments. I'm just not sure how to translate that into being triggered by my Java application. Any suggestions or pointers on what I should read would be appreciated.
    Background - I've been programming in Java for 10+ years, but this is my first time using databases. I also have been on these forums for a long time, but lost my profile when it was switched to Oracle.
    Thanks for all help.

    The original requirements were put together and given to me, an Oracle newbie. They expected the Java app to use something intrinsic to Oracle and Unix sendmail. To solve my problem, I use a JDBC connection to run some SQL commands. I take that data, format it and send the results by email to the user. By default the requirement is to send it as an HTML attachment using Unix 'sendmail'. So I do that using Runtime exec. I have also added JavaMail functionality as an alternative to sendmail. It works great and as expected.Sounds like a reasonable solution.
    Note however that PL/SQL itself can send email. And PL/SQL can call unix sendmail too.
    However myself I would have done it in java with JavaMail.

  • Help with creating oracle text index on 2 columns with partial html data

    Hi,
    I need to create an oracle text index on 2 columns.
    TITLE - varchar(255) = contains plain text data
    DESCRIPTION - CLOB = contains partial HTML data
    This is what I created.
    begin

    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('Title_Description_Pref', 'columns', 'TITLE, DESCRIPTION');
    end;

    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('bid_lexer', 'index_stems', 'ENGLISH');
    ctx_ddl.create_section_group('htmgroup', 'HTML_SECTION_GROUP');
    end;
    create index Bid_Title_Index on Bid(title) indextype is ctxsys.context parameters ('LEXER bid_lexer sync (every "sysdate+(1/24)")');
    create index Bid_Title_Desc_Index on Bid(description) indextype is ctxsys.context parameters ('LEXER bid_lexer DATASTORE Title_Description_Pref sync (every "sysdate+(1/24)") filter ctxsys.null_filter section group htmgroup');
    The problem is when I do a CONTAINS(description, '$(auction)')>0. I get results where the descriptions have the "auction" word (which is correct). But, the results also returned rows where the search word is inside an IMG tag. e.g. <img src="http://auction.de/120483" alt="Auction Logo"/>.
    What I would like is to exclude rows where the search word is inside HTML tag attributes, results expected are rows having <a>Auction</a> or <p>For Auction</p> ... etc. Basically stripping the html tags and leave the text contents.
    I'd appreciate some input.

  • Oracle Text contain query limit with 9i

    The Oracle Text contain query is defined as this:
    CONTAINS(
    [schema.]column,
    text_query VARCHAR2
    [,label NUMBER])
    RETURN NUMBER;
    Is the size limit of text_query 4000 bytes with 9i? Is it increased with 10g or is it accepting CLOB in 10g?
    I always got the error: "ORA-01460: unimplemented or unreasonable conversion requested" when I do the following where p_var was dynamically passed with size of more than 4000 bytes:
    p_statement varchar2(20000);
    p_var varchar2(8000);
    p_statement := select count(*) from dewey_table where contains(concat, :x)>0;
    open m_cursor for p_statement using p_var;
    Thanks very much,

    The limit is definitely 4000 characters in 9i and the 10g documentation shows no change in the calling spec for that parameter.

    Oracle Text will not index the content inside the portlet of the pages. The portlet is treated as a portlet instance item and only the relevant attributes are searched for, like display name of the portlet, etc.

    The multi_column_datastore says that the text to be indexed should be fetched from the supplied COLUMNS list rather than from the actual column the index is created on.
    So in this case we're fetching the contents of "theNumber" column, converting it to text, and indexing it.
    You don't necessarily need a dummy column, if "a_title" is a varchar column you could create the index on that instead.
    For example:
    SQL> create table mytab( a_id number, a_code number, a_title varchar2(80), a_subtitle varchar2(80), a_info clob );
    Table created.
    SQL> insert into mytab values ( 12, 9812376, 'foo is the title',
      2  'foobar is the subtitle', 'the info column will not be indexed' );
    1 row created.
    SQL> exec ctx_ddl.drop_preference( 'myds' )
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL> exec ctx_ddl.create_preference( 'myds', 'MULTI_COLUMN_DATASTORE' )
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL> exec ctx_ddl.set_attribute( 'myds', 'COLUMNS', 'a_code, a_title, a_subtitle' )
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL> create index myindex on mytab (a_title) indextype is ctxsys.context
      2  parameters ('datastore myds');
    Index created.
    SQL> select a_id from mytab where contains (a_title, '%123%') > 0;
          A_ID
            12
    SQL> select a_id from mytab where contains (a_title, 'foo') > 0;
          A_ID
            12If you want to be able to search within a particular column, then add "section group CTXSYS.AUTO_SECTION_GROUP" to the parameters clause, and you can then do:
    SQL> select a_id from mytab where contains (a_title, 'foobar WITHIN a_subtitle') > 0;
          A_ID
            12

  • Create hover text from mouse rollover with nav. menu

    Howdy,
    I'm using CS5 actionscript 2. I would like to create hovering text when one mouses over an item in the navigation window (please see pic). You know, something that would act like a brief abstract to give the user more info re: whether or not they need to click on that link.
    At present, the nav_mc is linked to an xml doc FYI (the nav_mc accordians in and out, but doesn't have to). I input what I want the menu and submenu to say in the xml nodes and it shows up. It would be cool if the hover text added could also be xml driven too.
    I am green to this so the more detail the better. Do I need to create a new xml doc? A new .swf? How do I link this? Should I use Flash Builder or Catalyst?    I am happy to provide coding/docs of what I have to make things more clear.
    Much Thanks!

    Hi Kglad,
    Thank you so much for taking the time to answer. I'm afraid I'm a bit of a newbie, would you mind fleshing your suggestions out a bit? sorry!
    create a movieclip with a dynamic text, I'm not sure what this looks like (see pic) I made the green rec. a movie clip and created a dyn. text field...the movie clip and dyn. text are different things or one in the same?
    assign the textfield an instance name (eg, tf) think I got this?
    and assign the movieclip a linkage id. not sure what this might look like, do you mean an instance name? you can then attach your movieclip on rollover and assign the textfield's text and remove the movieclip on rollout.  not sure what this looks like
    you can enter the data used on each menu item's rollover wherever you like (including your xml).  you just need to parse those data so each menu item is aware of its "tooltip" and can assign that to the attached movieclip's textfield.  sorry, not sure hat this looks like either... the only menu item I have access to in the .fla is the lt. blue box you see in the upper left of pic. everything is generated in the xml...you probably gathered this, but just in case...
    Thank you so much for your help!

    env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "ldap://localhost:389/o=JNDITutorial");
    env.put("java.naming.ldap.version", "2");
    // Create the initial context
    DirContext ctx = new InitialDirContext(env);
    I would like to be able to create my context and use it with the DBMS_LDAP in PL/SQL. Is there any way to do it ? Do I have to use DBMS_SESSION.set_context ? I'm new with all those concepts and it is really important...
    Thanks for your help !

    in my developement team has the same problem and he solved it using java.naming.ldap.version and put
    it in version 2.

  • Best way to implement oracle TEXT on multiple tables with regular updates

    Hi,
    I have the following situation:
    5 tables where we want full text search on multiple columns.
    Some of the tables have a master/detail relation. (1 to 1000, or more)
    because of the number of transactions on these tables we can't have a lag in the sync time.
    Currently I have create a dummy table just for the search with 2 columns: for the primary key to all the other tables and one for the update trigger.
    I use the user_datastore with a procedure to join all the necessary columns resulting in a clob.
    My question is regarding the update.
    Of course I can create triggers to update the dummy field in the search table, but this will give lot of updates on that table with possible locking issues.
    What would be the best approach to have this search functionality working?
    I am open for any ideas!
    Thanks,
    Edward

    Ok, I will focus on building a solution on 12c.
    right now I have used a USER_DATASTORE with a procedure to glue all the field together in one document.
    This works fine for the search.
    I have created a dummy table on which the index is created and also has an extra field which contains the key related to all the tables.
    So, I have the following tables:
    dummy_search
    contracts
    contract_ref
    person_data
    nac_data
    and some other tables...
    the current design is:
    the index is on dummy_search.
    When we update contracts table a trigger will update dummy_search.
    same configuration for the other tables.
    Now we see locking issues when having a lot of updates on these tables as the same time.
    What is you advice for this situation?
    Thanks,
    Edward

  • Creating Oracle Wallets (pkcs#12 files) with OpenSSL

    I am attempting to create pkcs12 file that will be recoginized by the Oracle Wallet Manager.
    I found a procedure here:
    http://web.metacircles.com/oracle%20wallet%20manager
    but I'm not having much luck with it.
    This is what I have done:
    1. Created a private key with the command:
         openssl genrsa -des3 -out privkey.pem 2048
    2. Used the private key to create a certificate request:
         openssl req -new -key privkey.pem -out cert.csr
    3. Used cert.csr to generate a test site certificate from Thawte (http://www.thawte.com/)
    4. Converted the Thawte ServerCA certificate into PEM format:
         openssl x509 -inform der -in ThawteServerCA.cer -outform pem -out serverCA.pem
    5. Created the pkcs#12 file:
              openssl pkcs12 -export -certfile serverCA.pem -inkey privkey.pem -in sitetest.crt -name "Test Wallet"
              -certpbe PBE-SHA1-RC2-40 -keypbe PBE-SHA1-3 DES -noiter -out ewallet.p12
    However, the Oracle Wallet Manager does not like the resulting pkcs#12 file. I am getting the unhelpful "Invalid Password" error even though I am using the same password I used when I created the private key.
    If anyone has had any success creating an Oracle ewallet with OpenSSL, I would be appreciative to any suggestions they may have.

    Which one is it supposed to be? I have both versions installed side-by-side in /usr/lib, the prefix was /usr. Also, I was thinking about openssl installing header files into /usr/include. Aren't they needed to compile this php extension? openssl098 basically installs just the library:
    $ pacaur -Ql openssl098
    openssl098 /usr/
    openssl098 /usr/bin/
    openssl098 /usr/bin/openssl098
    openssl098 /usr/lib/
    openssl098 /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8
    openssl098 /usr/lib/libssl.so.0.9.8
    openssl098 /usr/share/
    openssl098 /usr/share/licenses/
    openssl098 /usr/share/licenses/openssl098
    Maybe I should go with compiling openssl from sources after all...
    On a side note

    Does it matter? I'm going to use it for development.
