ORACLE Time Out problem - Please Help

Hi All
I am working on an application which needs to handle the sql error code -3113 ("end-of-file on communication channel").
When the application (PRO C) gets a -3113 error from the database it should run a series of steps.
To simulate this feature i shutdown the database (not the listener).
The problem that i am facing is this.
In some databases the SQL query returns immediately with an -3113 error when the database is down. In others it takes well over 8 minutes to return. Why is this? Cant i reduce this time?

As you can see in the show ip route from RouterC below, I am able to see a route for 1.1.1.0/24. It is an EIGRP AS redistributed into OSPF.
However, I ping '1.1.1.1' from RouterC, but it times out. Why can't I get to 1.1.1.1 from RouterC ?!

I agree with Sundar that since the route appears in the routing table that you probably do have a viable path to get to 1.1.1.0 and that the problem is most likely lack of a return path.
One way to verify this would be to run debug ip icmp on the router that you are attempting to ping and then do the ping again. If the debug output shows that the ping packets are being received then you have verified that the problem is with the return path.

Time Machine Problem, Please Help.

Hi, I have a new MacBook Air and TM just doesn't work. I keep getting the "backup volume cannot be found" error message. I've trashed the preference file in Library, quit TM, restart again, and repaired permission to no avail. I have also reinstalled the OS and the same problem persists. I've tried on 3 external drives (Time Capsule wirelessly, WD MyBook connected via USB and a Lacie portable drive connected via USB) and TM fails to backup every time. I've searched this board and other Mac fora and found no solution to my specific problem. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

how exactly did you reinstall the system from TM? please give details. the correct way to do it is to boot from the snow leopard DVD and use the "restore system from backup" utility in the Utilities menu. there is no need to reinstall anything prior to using that utility. the restore utility wipes your hard drive and restores it to the state it was in at the backup time.
It said the installation was successful, but when the computer restarted a message comes up saying "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button until it turns off, then press the Power button again". Ive done this about 5 times now but it always just says the same message without starting properly. WHAT DO I DO???? I really need to use my computer tomorrow so any help is hugely appreciated!!! TIA
PS. i have done a hardware test in "loop mode" and it says everything is fine

Time Machine Problems - Please Help!

I am fairly new to the world of Mac's, purchasing my first in late November 2010 and i have recently been investigating Apples own Time Machine software as a means of backing up my Mac. I had an Iomega 1TB Home Media Network drive which i had connected via ethernet to my router and my Mac was on wireless. When Time Machine saw the network drive it refused to back up to it and then occasionally it didn't see it at all. I then decided to use this drive just for the Windows PCs in my household and not for my Mac as i thought it may not be backing up because i have Mac backups and Windows backups on the same drive without partitioning. I have now got a Freecom Classic 3.5" 500GB hard drive connected directly to the USB in my Mac and Time Machine sees it and begins the backup. I get so far and then i receive the error "The backup was not performed because and error occurred while copying files to the backup disk" - i have installed the Time Machine buddy widget from Apple and have looked into it, this is what i get:

I have tried everything and looked through the forums finding people with similar problems - i have tried Verifying my Internal HD, Repairing my External HD and have tried running Tech Tool Deluxe - all of which cannot find any problems. I have also tried excluding this file but Time Machine just finds the same error with the next file in alphabetical order in the folder - i should also add it is not just the folder Applications. Can someone please tell me if i am doing something wrong as this is always a possibility with my inexperience with Macs.

Time Machine can back up to some NAS (Network Attached Storage) devices, if they meet Apple's criteria. But there are some downsides; see the pink box in #2 of [Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/FAQ.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).
But yes, even if it supports Time Machine, backing-up both Windoze and OSX to the same partition is unlikely to work.
You'll have to check with Iomega about that.

That's not really a problem; it just means Time Machine isn't sure whether you "migrated" your data from a different Mac.

That's the kind of thing we see when there's a problem with a file or the destination; often a bad connection. But if it's happening on every file, obviously it's something much more serious.
Is the external HD formatted properly? See #C1 in [Time Machine - Troubleshooting|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/Troubleshooting.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).

It should be working as a switch if you plugged it into a router..
You do not want the TC to be a router if it is plugged into a router causing double NAT issues.. or worse failing because it has same IP as WAN side.
The setup is via the airport utility.. click the TC, click edit and go to the network tab.. there are three options,
Off bridge mode is likely what it is now..
DHCP and NAT is router.
DCHP only is not used for normal setup.

If you configure the Time Capsule as a "bridge" to use exactly the same wireless network name, security and password as the wireless on your main router, you will in effect, extend the wireless network that way. Computers will be able to move from one area to another without having to change networks.
I assume that you have an ethernet cable connecting your main router to the WAN port (circle icon) on the Time Capsule.
Open AirPort Utility and click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab below the icons
Wireless Mode = Create a wireless network
Wireless Network Name = Exact same name as your main router network
Radio Mode = Automatic
Channel = Automatic
Wireless Security = Exact same setting that your main router is using. You may need to check the configuration pages for your main router to get this information. If the settings do not match exactly, the wireless network will not perform as a single network, it will perform as two separate networks
Wireless Password = Same password as your main router
Confirm Password
Click the Internet icon
Connect Using = Ethernet
Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
Update to save settings.

Time capsule problems - please help! Disk errors.

I bought a 500gb TC after a data loss scare and it has been ticking along doing its thing happily for a couple of months. I have it connected to my router and my iMac and Macbook backup to it wirelessly.
Today the backup of my macbook failed (my iMac is with apple having the lcd replaced, so isn't being backed up).
Initially the message was that the disk could not be mounted. But now has changed to a warning that the disk repair has failed and the disk has limited access and I should back up my data and reformat!
I can view the sparsebundle files, but don't have any way of getting them off TC as the files are too large - so backing up is going to be tricky (and involved buying another HD I imagine).
Is there any way of telling if the TC is fried or if it is some kind of setup/software error?
Does anybody have any tips? Isn't TC supposed to be 'server grade'?

I have tried that (read a post on here suggesting it) and it still won't backup. I haven't changed any passwords.
The only thing which has changed is that my iMac has temporarily been taken off my network while it is being repaired.

Time out problem while uploading large bpel processes into oracle soa suite

Hi everyone,
I'm using oracle soa suite 10.1.3.4.0 and I'm encountering time out problem while trying to upload a 5MB bpel process into my bpel process server located in the LAN network. The error is coming from apache common file upload.
Is there a way to increate the connection time out for oc4j to avoid this problem?

Did you check your security software (firewall)?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

Pay no attention to iinami, the amount of replies to people saying their handsets must have been jailbroken everytime iTunes throws out an error is tremendous. (Clearly you don't need to have any real knowledge to get to level 3 on these forums, let's hope apple's geniuses know a lot more than some of their customers.)

3)Opened Repository Administration Utility
Log in as 'repos_manager/repos_manager@orcltest'
Installed Repository.
4) Opened Oracle 9i Designer. I am able to connect
as 'repos_manager/repos_manager@orcltest'
But I am not able to logon as any other user in same database/ any other user in different database. Why?

To make sure that this is not software related, set it back to factory settings, without using any backup data afterwards. Set up the rest of the personal settings manually and test the phone. If it still does not work, this is a hardware issue and the phone has to be serviced by Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider:

Time out problem in BPS

BPS friends,
We have a planning function to copy Versions based with some filters. The copy function takes 5 hours and times out after that. The function is reaching max buffer size as recommended by SAP so we cant increase the buffer size anymore.
We are on BW-BPS 3.5.
How can I solve this time out problem? Please respond to me.

How many record did you copy ??
Could you restrict the copy in not 1 package ??
Package per package ...
I suggest you ..
e.g. you have restriction by a 0CALMONTH / something ..
Then,
You can copy e.g. for January to March, then March to August, etc.
You can automate it by planning sequence.
