Oracle.toplink errors, but no toplink installed? (10G, SRDemo)

Hello, I installed the Chapter 4 SRDemo on my machine, and I am receiving an error. (at bottom)
However, I am able to connect to the database without any problems, have been using the same database connection for over a month, but wanted to trying doing the EJBs and following the SRDemo tutorial.
This locks my account, so it is using the correct account name (Which is not the same as the default from the demo)
What is really confusing me is the references to TopLink everwhere. I do not have TopLink installed. When I try to debug when I step into the line where the error is thrown it tells me "Unable to find source file for package oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions, filename TopLinkException.java.
Here is the error I receive on running the ServiceRequestFacadeClientEmbed.java in the SRDemo:

    Hi :),

    I tried to fix it as explained in http://www.puschitz.com/InstallingOracle9i.shtml#OracleInstallationErrors but after executing the genclntsh script I got this message:

  • Errors when trying to Install 10g Client on OS X

    I was just trying to install 10g on Mac OS X, 10.3.7 and got the following two error messages:
    1) "File not found: %fileName%" when trying to install without the "Networking Utilities".
    (When looking at the log file it seems as if during the linking process a file or link /Users/oracle/OraHome1/lib/libclntsh.dylib.10.1 would missing)
    2) Additionally i received "Thrown when the ip address of a host cannot be determined" when trying to also install the "Networking utilities".
    Has someone encountered the same problem and came up with a solution ?
    Thanks,
    Dieter

    You need a static IP, not a reserved DHCP, a static.
    My Ten Step Program to Static IP is:
    1) Double click the Network Icon (two PCs) in the system tray
    2) Click Properties
    3) Highlight "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and then click Properties
    4) Check the "Use the following IP address" radio button
    5) Set IP Address to xxx.xxx.xx.xx ( I use the 4 digit PC number split in two. Make sure a ping of that address times out before you assign to ensure no one else has it)
    6) Subnet mask should default to 255.255.0.0
    7) Set Default Gateway xxx.xxx.xx.x
    8) Set Preferred DNS server to xxx.xxx.xx.x
    9) Set Alternate DNS server to xxx.xxx.xx.x
    10) Grab large bottle of alcohol and enjoy the added functionality of a static IP address.

  • ORA-12203 error in Forms6i, after installing 10g local DB

    Hello,
    I have a configuration with multiples Oracle_Homes as I use Disco R4, Forms6i, Forms 10g, and sqlplus. I had no problem when I used a local 9i DB. All worked fine.
    When I had the 9i DB, I decided to set a TNS_ADMIN variable and only use one version of SQLNET.ORA and TNSNAMES.ORA. All was fine !
    Recently, I have decided to install a brand new 10gR2 DB, and get rid off my 9i DB.
    Since then, only the 10g tools work fine... and I cannot connect anymore to any of my Forms6i or Disco. BIG Problem !!!
    The error is always the same : ORA-12203: TNS:unable to connect to destinationI have made many different tries for fixing this issue...but I have no clue, and I would like some advices from you.
    Here are the details of the variables and files (after all my modifications):
    - My 10DB is located under OracleHome DB10g_OH (c:\10g\DB)
    - My Forms6i is located under OracleHome DEFAULT_HOME (c:\oraNT)
    - I created environment variables
    ORACLE_SID=SCFOXD
    TWO_TASK=SCFOXD
    and
    PATH= C:\10g\DB\bin;C:\orant\bin; ....
    I currently put the same version of listener.ora, sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora in both directories (C:\orant\NET80\ADMIN and C:\10g\DB\NETWORK\ADMIN):
    - sqlnet.ora:
    SQLNET.ALLOWED_LOGON_VERSION = 9
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)
    TRACE_LEVEL_CLIENT = ADMIN
    TRACE_UNIQUE_CLIENT = on

    - tnsnames.ora

    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = SCFOXD)
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (GLOBAL_NAME = SCFOXD)
    (HS = OK)
    - listener.ora (defined with the 10g Net Manager)
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =

    Using the Dos command window, I stopped and started the listener (lsnrctl stop/start and its current status is (in french!!):

    La commande a réussi
    Looking at the listerner status, all seems fine, except the status UNKNOWN of the DB... I have no idea why it is that, as I can successfully connect it using the 10g tools (sqlplus/forms10g)
    To go further, I can reproduce the same error (like with Forms6i) when I use the DOS command window, when I run plus80.
    Anyway, I am sure there is something I missed to do... but, I am really stuck, and I would like to get some advices in order to solve my issue.
    Thanks,
    Olivier

    Thanks for your quick reply.
    1) forms 6i version is = 6.0.8.23.2
    2) in the DOS box, here is what I get :

    b) tnsping SCFOXD : seems ok.
    c) tnsping80 SCFOXD : brings this error:

    I really feel bad about my current configuration. I don't understand at all...
    Any other suggestion?

  • CS 5.5+AAMEE=No packaging errors but won't install

    I'm packaging CS 5.5 Master Collection using AAMEE 2.1 on Mac OS X 10.7. It's a completely vanilla workflow; I just have AAMEE suck in MC, find any updates (it finds 3), and spit out a .pkg. No customizations whatsoever.
    But the .pkg that AAMEE ouputs fails to install. It seems to run normally for a couple of minutes, then the time estimate starts climbing until it finally fails out about 15 minutes later. The error I'm able to discern is a "Script error". A few portions of CS 5.5 do get installed (the ones starting with "A") but nothing else.
    What I've tried:
    * Redownloading CS 5.5 MC from Adobe, in case I got a bad download,
    * Repackaging using AAMEE on a completely different Mac,
    * Installing on more than one Mac. I've tried it on three, on both OS X 10.6 and 10.7.
    I was previously able to package CS 5.0 using AAMEE so I've gotten it to work before. Just not sure how to troubleshoot what's happening here.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Sorry to hear that you are facing problems. Can you please send the PDApp.log file present at /user/Library/Logs. This will help us debug the issue.
    Some tips -
    A conflicting process may be running which is causing the install to fail.
    Make sure you have administrative privileges while installing Adobe Products.
    We can tell you the exact reason by looking at the Logs.

  • No error shown but database not installed (no c:\sapdb directory created)

    After a failed installation of NetWeaver 2004s ABAP Trial Version (SP11) downloaded from SDN, I removed MaxDB using the control panel, deleted the SAP and sapdb directories, restored the services file, and ran the registry clean tool.
    I then tried to install the SP10 version from the DVD in the new ABAP Objects book - this ran for only a couple of minutes, gave no errors but didn't install the database.  I presumed this was an error with the DVD so I cleaned everything up again and tried installing the downloaded SP11 version again, but the same thing happened: it only ran for a couple of minutes and said everything was OK but created no database directory.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hello Andrew,
    Unistall/delete your current NSP system.
    Afterwards remove the folder

    Update

    Yes I did. But my database storage engine is set to MyISAM which don't support foreign keys. So this 'error' results from database configuration (Info: InnoDB do support foreign keys).
    I'm wondering why the queries didn't throw any errors. So the foreign key/reference part was just skipped.
    Thank you very much, rsapir.
    PS:
    How can I configure configure 'application side' references/associations? It is described in the TopLink Developers Guide on site 34-10 ... but I have no Add/New Buttons?

  • Exception [TOPLINK-46] (OracleAS TopLink - 10g (9.0.4) (Build 031126))

    Hi,
    I am using TopLink for simple Department-Employee relation, i have my project xml configured, But i am facing the problem with following exception
    Descriptor Exceptions:
    Exception [TOPLINK-46] (OracleAS TopLink - 10g (9.0.4) (Build 031126)): oracle.toplink.exceptions.DescriptorException
    Exception Description: There should be one non-read-only mapping defined for the primary key field [emp.empno].
    Descriptor: Descriptor(com.oracle.mssql.emp.toplink.EmpTopLinkBean --> [DatabaseTable(emp)])
    Runtime Exceptions:
    What could be the reason?
    Thanks
    Madhu

    My best guess would be that you have a 1:1 mapping from Employee to Department. This mapping represents part of the primary key.
    Make sure that your 1:1 mapping is not configured as read-only. Another issue is that you may have set the relationship as target foreign key. This has the same effect as read-only and is not applicable in the 1:1 returning from a 1:M.

  • Oracle Toplink Version issue

    Oracle Toplink Version
    Hi all,
    Can i know which version of toplink is stable?
    currently i am using toplink v9.0.3 for our project.i found in the same forum that there is a bug(#2662726) in v9.0.3 related to improper setting of target foreign key and a suggestion to use v9.0.3.2 where bug had been fixed.
    I am unable to find v9.0.3.2 download in oracle site.I found only the latest versions 9.0.4(10g product).I tried to install toplink 10g which is just an extraction of zip file,but i end up with the error "Windows cannot find '-Xmx128m' file" when i tried to start workbench.cmd
    I found somewhere that there is a work-around for that bug - just reversing the feild names of addTargetForeignKeyFeildName() method.
    I don't want to take risk.
    please suggest me correct stable versions and place of downloads of both App.server and toplink
    our Oracle Application server version is 9.0.3. if i am going to use the latest version of toplink,can it solve the issue mentioned above and also can it be compatible with app server version.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Karthick.

    Hi doug,
    Thanks for ur immediate response.
    I had installed the latest patchset 9.0.3.6 and tried to generate project java source using workbench.
    now the foreign key mapping problem is O.K. but i am having problems in the generated persistent classes code.
    I am having certain feilds in a table in Oracle Database of type Number of size varying from 1 - 6. I used workbench to generate code for that table. In that i found that all attributes which has direct to feild mapping to a Number datatype in Database is of type Double(irrespective of size even for Number(1)).
    I think it is a huge memory wastage having Double where an Integer or other types will do.
    I would be very grateful if u help me in this regards.
    -karthick.

  • Clustering TopLink with 10g

    We are trying to use TopLink (version 9.0.4.3) in a cluster of Oracle 10g application servers (9.0.4.0.0) but we are having a number of issues getting it to work. When I add the following into the sessions.xml file I get a number of toplink errors on startup:

    There was a recent thread on this issue,
    Missing Descriptor in Servlet
    Basically TopLink does not get notified of the undeployment of an app, so cannot remove the session from the SessionManager. (unless you are using CMP)
    If you can receive notification of the deploy/undeploy you could remove or refresh the session from the session manager.
    A simple way to do this would be to keep a static boolean variable in your apps class that accesses the session from the session manager. The first time you access the session refresh it and set the static to true.
    To refresh a session from the session manager use the API,
    SessionManager.getSession(XMLSessionConfigLoader/XMLLoader xmlLoader, String sessionName, ClassLoader classLoader, boolean shouldLoginSession, boolean shouldRefreshSession)
    i.e.
    SessionManager.getManager().getSession(new XMLSessionConfigLoader/XMLLoader("sessions.xml/or your file name/path"), "yourSessionName", yourClassLoader, true, true);
    Only use this API the first time you access the session from the app.
    You can also use the following code to remove a session,
    SessionManager.getManager().getSessions().remove("yourSessionName");
    I have logged this issue internally, hopefully a better solution will be provided in the 10.1.3 release.

    Hello,
    Without more information, I can't determine what the problem is. This exception's english wording is "Object comparisons can only use the equal() or notEqual() operators. Other comparisons must be done through query keys or direct attribute level comparisons.", and implies that the query expression is using a Like operator where atleast one side of the comparison is an entity instead of a string value. Entity/object comparisons are only supported with the equal or notEqual comparisons.
    Best Regards,
    Chris

  • Data truncation with oracle.toplink.internal.databaseaccess.OraclePlatform

    Hello everyone
    I use Toplink 10g(9.0.4.5) with Oracle Lite database. I use the oracle.toplink.internal.databaseaccess.OraclePlatform and everything seems to be fine, except that when I pass a String more than the length defined in the Database, data is getting truncated to the maximum possible length in the Database and no exception is thrown. If I run a SQL statement directly on the Oracle Lite database using msql "value too large for column" exception is thrown.
    The question is it the default behviour of oracle.toplink.internal.databaseaccess.OraclePlatform to truncate the data for the large Strings? How can i change this behaviour to throw an exception?
    Any information on this would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance..

    Thanks for the reply.
    But my tests are pointing towards ToplinkPlatform only. I use the oracle.lite.poljdbc.POLJDBCDriver with Oracle Database Lite, and when I do a simple test to insert a large String wiht plaing JDBC and POLJDBCDriver, i receive the following error.
    [POL-2403] value too large for column
    However if i did the same using Toplink and oracle.toplink.internal.databaseaccess.OraclePlatform, the SQL statement generated by Toplink does not throw any errors. When i query the database, i see that the data is truncated. I use the same oracle.lite.poljdbc.POLJDBCDriver with Toplink.
    <session>
    <name>testLite</name>
    <project-class>com.entityobjects.mappings.testLite</project-class>
    <session-type>
    <server-session/>
    </session-type>
    <login>
    <driver-class>oracle.lite.poljdbc.POLJDBCDriver</driver-class>
    <connection-url>jdbc:polite:POLITE;DataDirectory=C:\;Database=testLite;</connection-url>
    <platform-class>oracle.toplink.internal.databaseaccess.OraclePlatform</platform-class>
    <user-name>test1</user-name>
    <password>test1</password>
    <should-bind-all-parameters>true</should-bind-all-parameters></login>
    <enable-logging>true</enable-logging>
    <logging-options/>
    </session>
    I do not want to add a check at the object setter level, as the same object model is used in different projects and published across.
    Any more ideas why data is getting truncated?
    Thanks in advance for any suggestions..

  • Oracle TopLink Object-to-XML - issue JAXBException: Provider not found...

    Env:
    OS:XP
    Java dev env: JDev 10.1.2 production
    Toplink Workbench - 10g Developer Preview 3 (10.1.3.0) build 041116
    I am attempting to use the toplink object to xml functionality through carefully following the tutorial titled Oracle TopLink Object-to-XML on OTN (link: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/toplink/preview/10.1.3dp3/howto/ox/index.htm)
    The first 11 steps are nice and clear and very easy to follow. However, when I hit 12 I run into problems. I believe I have done all I am required to do.
    My demo test code falls over on the attempting to create the JAXB context:
    JAXBContext jaxbContext = JAXBContext.newInstance("examples.ox.model");
    The exception I get is:
    javax.xml.bind.JAXBException: Provider oracle.toplink.ox.jaxb.JAXBContextFactory not found
    - with linked exception:
    [java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.toplink.ox.jaxb.JAXBContextFactory ]
    The code is capable of loading the jaxb.properties file, and has toplink.jar in the classpath. I am able to create a is located JAXBContextFactory prior to calling the new instance logic, illustrating that the class is in the classpath.
    Using google I have seen it mentioned that the newInstance call could be making use of a different JVM to the Application (https://jaxb.dev.java.net/faq/#classloader) hence may not be able to pick up the JAXBContextFactory class. I have attempted to follow their advice of passing in a class loader - but this makes no difference.
    I.E. JAXBContext jaxbContext = JAXBContext.newInstance("examples.ox.model", this.getClass().getClassLoader());
    Does anyone recognise this issue and have a solution.
    Here is my code:
    try
    File file = new File("D:\\Toplink\\demo\\Customer-data.xml");
    JAXBContext jaxbContext = JAXBContext.newInstance("examples.ox.model);
    Unmarshaller unmarshaller = jaxbContext.createUnmarshaller();
    Customer customer = (Customer) unmarshaller.unmarshal(file);
    System.out.println(" customer.getFirstName() : "+customer.getFirstName());
    catch(Exception e)
    System.out.println("Error: "+ e.toString());
    As mentioned earlier it falls over on JAXBContext.newInstance("examples.ox.model);
    cheers
    Nick

    Hi Blaise,
    thanks for your response.
    My session.xml file is located:
    D:\Toplink\demo\classes\session.xml
    And contains:
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'UTF-8'?>
    <toplink-sessions version="10g Developer Preview 3 (10.1.3.0 )" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">

    <login xsi:type="xml-login"/>
    </session>
    </toplink-sessions>
    My classpath references only jars downloaded with the links on the How To tutorial titled Oracle TopLink Object-to-XML on OTN (link: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/toplink/preview/10.1.3dp3/howto/ox/index.htm)
    This is the JDev output indicating the classpath and error:

    Any more suggestions?
    In the meantime I will go through the information on the link that you have sent and see if I can get anyfurther.
