Oracle XML Schema (Java) on Macintosh

Hi Everybody,
I tried your XML Schema parser on my Mac and I had no single platform specific Java or configuration problem. Congratulation. (I used the Windows download since I never had problems to unzip files)
One minor problem is left: the file names in the doc folder are cut to 31 characters and this means that some links between some html files are broken.
Have a look how how Sun uses JavaDoc: they would create a com folder that contains an oracle folder ... that contains the unqualified classname.html files.
It would be nice if you could use JavaDoc the way Sun does it.
Cheers,
Gerd

This is because of a known problem for JIT under AIX. Please turn of the JIT and run the program by:
1/ set enviroment variable
JAVA_COMPILER NONE
2/ run java with -D option, like:
java -Djava.compiler=NONE <your program>

  • DOM, XML Schema, Java.  Confused!!!

    Hi all,
    Please help me to answer the 3 questions. I'm totally confused.
    1. Does DOM allow us to add invalid data based on the XML schema?
    2. I have an XML file. I want to use DOM to add, modify and delete nodes from the file, then print out an XML output file. If DOM does not prevent us from adding invalid data, I guess we have to run the validation after the output file is printed out?
    3. There are so many parsers, DOM, ... outthere that I am totally confused. Please give me your suggestions. I want to use Java to populate the DOM tree, check the data integrity based on the XML schema as I modify the DOM tree (if possible) or after printing the XML output to a file. What parser should I use? What DOM should I use (DOM or JDOM)? Can I use MS XML parser (because that what my main client uses), DOM, and Java? If so what do I need. I have read 2 books and many sites, but still don't have the answer clear yet.
    Very appreciate your help,
    Nam.

    1.
    never tried with Schema, with DTD: yes
    2.
    it is what I did*, which is pretty clumsy: currently AmauryDebou has started another thread on this subject but there's no answer yet.
    *in fact I do everything in RAM (no file needed): I ouptut the DOM in a byte array and then reparse it
    3.
    Xalan/Xerces is pretty standard (they are used in JAXP).
    JDOM has a reputation of being faster than DOM - depends on the amount of data you deal with.
    if you develop in Java, forget MSXML
    if parsing speed is an issue, you can achieve excellent performances with James Clark's XP.

  • Oracle XML Schema documentation

    Does anyone know if there are any good books, websites, etc ... with various examples on creating an xml schema that includes other schemas with different elements and how all schema objects are affected and linked when loading an xml instance file in the master schema? Most of the documentation I have found only discusses a schema with no includes and only one element. Thanks.

    I believe that the desired default date format only applies for two functions:
    "27.1 XML Date Formatting
    Dates and timestamps in generated XML are now in the formats specified by XML Schema. See Oracle XML DB Developer's Guide, Chapter "Generating XML Data from the Database", *section "XMLELEMENT and XMLATTRIBUTES SQL Functions"*, subsection "Formatting of XML Dates and Timestamps"."
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/readmes.102/b14233/toc.htm#sthref85
    Your quote from the docs ( http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14259/xdb13gen.htm#sthref1506 ) applies to the SQL/XML standard functions, and apparently not to DBMS_XMLGEN (one of the Oracle Database-provided functions).
    "It explains the SQL/XML standard functions and Oracle Database-provided functions and packages for generating XML data from relational content."
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14259/xdb13gen.htm#ADXDB1600

    Hi All,
    I have created a custom xml publisher report. All the setups in xdo.cfg and the fonts have been installed. When i run the report as concurrent program using the XDODTEXE as the executable this report executes fine displaying the arabic characters in the PDF output.
    I have integrated this xml report to a OAF page where am getting the output of the arabic characters as ???????
    Following is the java code i have used to generate the blob for the xml publisher report.
    pageContext.writeDiagnostics(this,"Inside process Template",4);
    AppsContext appsContext = ((OADBTransactionImpl)pageContext.getRootApplicationModule().getOADBTransaction()).getAppsContext();
    String applicationShortName = dataDefApplication;
    String dataSourceCode = dataDefCode;
    OutputStream os = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
    try {
    DataTemplate dataTemplate = new DataTemplate(transaction.getAppsContext(), dataDefApplication, dataDefCode);

    Iterator it = parameters.iterator();
    while (it.hasNext())
    Parameter p = (Parameter) it.next();
    pageContext.writeDiagnostics(this,"Processing Parameters "+p.getName(),4);
    if (p.getName().equals("P_AUCTION_HEADER_ID"))

    System.out.println("Exception (other) occurred.");
    byte[] xmlb = os.toString().getBytes();
    BlobDomain blob = new BlobDomain(xmlb);
    return blob;
    Kindly let me if i had missed something.
    Thanks
    Anoop

    On a related note, I am seeing a couple of different types of 'incorrect' characters based on different NLS_LANG settings.
    If it is set to AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8, I get characters like this:
    رقم الموظ
    If it is set to ARABIC_UNITED ARAB EMIRATES.AR8MSWIN1256, I get characters like this:
    ÑÞã ÇáãæÙÝ
    Do any of you know what these characters are?
    Thanks for any insight.

  • Oracle Xml Schema Registration problem.

    Hi Gurus,
    I tried to register a schema using an xsd named 'EntityBase.xsd', using the following block. It got registered successfully.
    BEGIN
    DBMS_XMLSCHEMA.registerSchema(
    SCHEMAURL => 'http://xmlns.oracle.com/xdb/EntityBase.xsd',
    SCHEMADOC => bfilename('XMLDIR','EntityBase.xsd'),
    LOCAL => FALSE,
    CSID => nls_charset_id('AL32UTF8'));
    END;
    select local,schema_url,int_objname,qual_schema_url from dba_xml_schemas where schema_url like
    '%http://xmlns.oracle.com/xdb/EntityBase.xsd%';
    This gives me a record.
    Now I have another xsd, VersionedEntity.xsd with which I would like to register another schema. In the xsd definition for VersionedEntity.xsd, it has Entity.xsd being used and which is already registered and the .xsd exists in the same directory 'XMLDIR'. But when I register using the following block,
    BEGIN
    DBMS_XMLSCHEMA.registerSchema(
    SCHEMAURL => 'http://xmlns.oracle.com/xdb/VersionedEntity.xsd',
    SCHEMADOC => bfilename('XMLDIR','VersionedEntity.xsd'),
    CSID => nls_charset_id('AL32UTF8'));
    END;
    I get
    ORA-31000: Resource 'EntityBase.xsd' is not an XDB schema document

  • Help needed with XML Schema Processor sample

    I'm trying to run the sample that came with the Oracle XML Schema Processor (XSDSample.java) and get the following error:

    thx,

    Looks like unzipping the jar and making sure its in your classpath fixed the problem. not sure why explicitly having the xschema.jar in the classpath didn't work.

    Just wanted to share the results of some testing I've done recently. Thought you would all enjoy this information.

    Literally, the only difference is the XML libraries being used for the transformation. Same exact input xml & xslt files and Java code. And the time difference is 1.5min (Saxon) vs 189min (Oracle). Even the Sun JDK libraries are no slouch vs Oracle XDK at just over 4mins.
    We might be doing something in our XSLT that is particularly "bad" for Oracle, but I'm not sure of specifics, I just know these results show Oracle to be the wrong choice for our specific transformations and messages.
    (The test file is about 20mb XML and the XSLT is quite simple.)
    I'll try this experiment again when 10.1.3 is final and see if things are improved. For now, I'd advise anyone considering XDK to also evaluate other XSL engines!!

    Sure, here's the code, just modified TraxExamples.java from the Saxonb8-6 release (samples/java/TraxExamples.java) by swapping in my own XML and XSL files instead of the ones that are included with Saxon8.
    * Show the simplest possible transformation from File
    * to a File.
    public static void exampleSimple2(String sourceID, String xslID)
    throws TransformerException, TransformerConfigurationException {
    TransformerFactory tfactory = TransformerFactory.newInstance();
    Transformer transformer =
    tfactory.newTransformer(new StreamSource(xslID));
    System.out.println("TransformerFactory is: " + tfactory.getClass().getName());
    System.out.println("Transformer is: " + transformer.getClass().getName());
    transformer.transform(new StreamSource(sourceID),
    new StreamResult(new File("exampleSimple2.out")));
    I simply added my own call to this method using my own file strings and named it "wayne2" so I could call it directly.
    Then as you can see above, I simply changed the JAR files in my classpath before executing the tests. Otherwise, everything in the various tests is identical.
    I can probably post the XSLT and a sample XML file if there's enough interest. I don't see a simple way to attach a file to a message in this forum...

  • Howto force Oracle XML parser not to expand entity references?

    Hi,
    Is it possible to force Oracle XML parser (Java) not to expand entity references, so that they appear in DOM tree as separated nodes after parsing XML?
    Example:
    for following XML
    <tag>abc&auml;xyz</tag>
    I get:
    Element: "tag"
    |-Text: "abcdxyz"
    but I would like to get:
    Element: "tag"
    |-Text: "abc"
    |
    |-EntityReference: "auml"
    |
    |-Text: "xyz"
    I've already tried to use JAXP api (setExpandEntityReferences method in java.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory), but it doesn't seem to work.
    I'm using parser from XDK Java v9.2.0.2.0 Production.
    Thx,
    James

    This is requested code sample:
    DocumentBuilderFactory dbf = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    dbf.setExpandEntityReferences(false);
    System.out.println("isExpandEntityReferences = "+dbf.isExpandEntityReferences());
    DocumentBuilder db = dbf.newDocumentBuilder();
    Document d = db.parse("file://c:/test.xml");
    Element e = d.getDocumentElement();
    System.out.println("documentElement"+ e.getTagName() + " nodeType=" +e.getNodeType());
    System.out.println("ChildNodes:");
    NodeList nodeList = e.getChildNodes();
    for(int i=0; i<nodeList.getLength();i++) {
    System.out.println(i+" value=\""+nodeList.item(i).getNodeValue()+"\" nodeType="+nodeList.item(i).getNodeType());
    Content of test.xml:
    <!DOCTYPE test SYSTEM "test.dtd">
    <test>abc&auml;xyz</test>
    Content of test.dtd:
    <!ELEMENT test (#PCDATA)>
    <!ENTITY auml "&#x00E4;">
    When you run it you will get the following output:
    isExpandEntityReferences = true
    documentElementtest nodeType=1
    ChildNodes:
    0 value="abcdxyz" nodeType=3
    which means that EntityReference has been expanded.
    As you can see in the output the isExpandEntityReferences method returns "true", even though I set it to false in code!
    Does it mean that Oracle parser simple doesn't support this feature???
    Thx,
    James

  • Java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: oracle.xml.parser.schema.XSDBuilder.build

    The following code works fine with JDeveloper 10.1.2 with the xmlparserv2.jar file provided with JDeveloper.
    =====
    XSDBuilder schemaBuilder = new XSDBuilder();
    URL xsdURL = new URL(schemaUrl);
    XMLSchema xmlschema = (XMLSchema) schemaBuilder.build(xsdURL);
    ========
    However when I try to put this in Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2, I get the following error:
    ====
    java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: oracle.xml.parser.schema.XSDBuilder.build
    ====
    It seems like the oracle version is different in app server 10.1.2.0.2 that that of JDeveloper 10.1.2.
    When we rename the parser, the application works BUT the Oracle Enterprise Manager does not work properly as it depends on the latest version of the parser.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Madhav

    I am able to reproduce this problem. I have a jar file MyLib.jar which contains a class MyXmlUtils with a method called validate. This JAR file was created in JDeveloper 9.0.5.2.
    Now I create a Test class in JDeveloper 10.1.2 and use the method in the JAR file and it crashes in build method. The error says "NoSuchMethod".
    However if I import MyXmlUtils class in to the Test project, everything works fine.
    What is going on here?
    // MyLib.jar (Created in JDeveloper 9.0.5.2)
    public class MyXmlUtils
    public static void validate(String xml, String schemaUrl) throws Exception
    XSDBuilder schemaBuilder = new XSDBuilder();
    URL xsdURL = new URL(schemaUrl);
    XMLSchema xmlschema = (XMLSchema) schemaBuilder.build(xsdURL);
    dp.setValidationMode(XMLParser.SCHEMA_VALIDATION);
    dp.setXMLSchema(xmlschema);
    ====
    // Test project created in JDeveloper 10.1.2
    import MyXmlUtils;
    public class Test
    public static void main(String[] args)
    Test t = new Test();
    try
    String xml = "<Person><Name>John</Name></Person>";
    String xsd = "file:\\c:\\Person.xsd";
    MyXmlUtils.validate(xml, xsd);
    catch (Exception e)
    System.out.println(e.getMessage());
    System.exit(1);

    On further test, If I let the default oracle xml parser be loaded, then I do not get the the exception.
    I have removed the following lines from orion-application.xml

              <remove-inherited name="oracle.xml"/>
         </imported-shared-libraries>
    Now, If I access the JPDK provider URL
    http://ple-fjunod.peoplesoft.com:9820/pspc/providers/psprovider/ps/EMPLOYEE
    I get the excepted page
    Congratulations! You have successfully reached your Provider's Test Page.

  • Java Stored Procedure SAXParser XML Schema Validation

    Using Oracle XML Developers Kit 10.2.0.2.0 - Production.
    Attempting to validate using XML Schema in a Java stored procedure with the code:
                   if ( schemaDoc == null )
                        // Obtain default connection
                        Connection conn = new OracleDriver().defaultConnection();
                        OraclePreparedStatement stmt = (OraclePreparedStatement) conn.prepareStatement("SELECT XmlDocObj FROM XmlDoc WHERE XmlDocNbr = 2");
                        OracleResultSet rset = (OracleResultSet)stmt.executeQuery();
                        if ( rset.next() )
                             // get the XMLType
                             XMLType schemaXml = (XMLType)rset.getObject(1);
                             XSDBuilder builder = new XSDBuilder();
                             XMLSchema schemaDoc = (XMLSchema)builder.build(new InputSource(schemaXml.getInputStream()));
                   if ( inst == null )
                        inst = new ValidateCoreRequest();
                   ErrorHandlerImpl handler = inst.getNewErrorHandler();
    SAXParser saxParser = new SAXParser();
    saxParser.setXMLSchema(schemaDoc);
    saxParser.setValidationMode(XMLParser.SCHEMA_VALIDATION);
    saxParser.setErrorHandler(handler);
    saxParser.parse(new InputSource(new StringReader(docStr)));
    if( handler.validationError )
                        errorMsg[0] = handler.saxParseException.getMessage().substring(0, Math.min(199, handler.saxParseException.getMessage().length()));
    Never reports validation errors in the XML. Although the XDK Programmers Guide states "...you can use
    the oracle.xml.parser.schema.XSDBuilder class to build an XML schema and
    then configure the parser to use it by invoking the XMLParser.setXMLSchema()
    method. In this case, the XML parser automatically sets the validation mode to
    SCHEMA_STRICT_VALIDATION and ignores the schemaLocation and
    noNamespaceSchemaLocation attributes." No validation seems to occur. I have tried to set an xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation attribute on the root XML node, but this results in URL errors if the URL is not valid or schema build errors if the URL is valid, but does not point to a real location.
    It appears that without a schema location attribute, no schema validation occurs. Using setXMLSchema() with a database source does not seem to cause the schema location attributes to be ignored. At least for Java stored procedures.
    Does XML Schema validation work in the database for externally referenced schemas?
    Thank You,
    Art

    Try this:
    Edit your XSU installation script located on lib directory of Oracle XSU's distribution:
    Find the line:
    loadjava -r -v -u $USER_PASSWORD xmlparserv2.jar
    Replace by:
    loadjava -r -v -g public -u $USER_PASSWORD xmlparserv2.jar
    And installs your Oracle XSU again.

  • XML SCHEMA registration for XML TYPE (storing XML files in Oracle 10g)

    I have created the XML Schema for the XML file stored in Oracle 10g and also added this Schema into the database. I have related that schema with the column in the table which contains the XML file. When i execute the query to fetch the data from the stored file i am getting a blank resultset. Is registering the XML Schema is necessary, if yes then please let me know the process of doing it. I have tried following steps to register Schema, but it is not working
    Step1:
    DECLARE
    v_return BOOLEAN;
    BEGIN
    v_return := dbms_xdb.createFolder('/home/');
    v_return := dbms_xdb.createFolder('/home/DEV/');
    v_return := dbms_xdb.createFolder('/home/DEV/xsd/');
    v_return := dbms_xdb.createFolder('/home/DEV/messages/');
    v_return := dbms_xdb.createFolder('/home/DEV/employees/');
    COMMIT;
    END;
    STEP 2:
    Connecting To XML DB
    Step3:
    Register XML schema
    I am failing to execute step number 2 and hence not able to register the schema also.

    The 'e_mail_valid' is undefined" has to do with the format of or lack of the email address. The routing problem is ours and should be fixed later today or by tomorrow morning.
