OracleBulkCopy - strange behaviour ("invalid number")

Hi there,
I'm using the .NET Oracle Data Client. I use the "OracleBulkCopy"-class for copying a datatable to the database. This worked for at least one table for me very well and really fast. But now I recreated the table. The previous table had among some other columns :
LSL FLOAT
USL FLOAT
TARGET FLOAT
CHARTID NUMBER(24,0)
The new table now has :
LSL BINARY_DOUBLE
USL BINARY_DOUBLE
TARGET BINARY_DOUBLE
CHARTID NUMBER(24,0)
Now the strange things began to happen, not only for this table, also for another where I changed some FLOATs to BINARY_DOUBLE.
I get this error on the insert which works on the old table with exactly the same data :
Error in row '1' column '18'
ORA-01722: invalid number
Column '18' is the column "CHARTID" which was changed in no way, the schema definition is exactly the same as before. The column has a valid number in it, to be exact it's a 201 .
Now the next really interesting thing is, if I copy the data from the old table where the insert worked to the new table, using this command
INSERT INTO NEWTABLE (SELECT * FROM OLDTABLE WHERE PK=48311)
I don't get any errors. The values inserted are correct.
I even tried casting all double-values to type double and all number-values to int before inserting the datatable - it didn't change anything.
I would appreciate any help.
Does anyone have an idea what is happening here?
Thanks & best regards,
Compu
P.S.: The code used for the insert :
// It does not make any difference according to the error if I comment the following 3 lines
OracleGlobalization glob = OracleGlobalization.GetThreadInfo();
glob.DateFormat = "yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi:ss";
OracleGlobalization.SetThreadInfo(glob);
OracleBulkCopy copy = new OracleBulkCopy(conn);
copy.ColumnMappings.Add("PK", "PK");
// some other ColumnMappings, all correct
copy.DestinationTableName = tableName;
copy.BulkCopyTimeout = 10000;
copy.WriteToServer(dt); // the error occures on this line
copy.Close();

Wow, I think I found the problem. I wrote a little test :
CREATE TABLE TEST1 (FLOATCOL FLOAT,NUMCOL NUMBER)
CREATE TABLE TEST2 (FLOATCOL BINARY_FLOAT,NUMCOL NUMBER)
CREATE TABLE TEST3 (FLOATCOL BINARY_DOUBLE,NUMCOL NUMBER)
       static void Main(string[] args)
            DataTable dt = new DataTable();
            dt.Columns.Add("FLOATCOL"); //  dt.Columns.Add("FLOATCOL", typeof(double))
            dt.Columns.Add("NUMCOL"); //  dt.Columns.Add("FLOATCOL", typeof(int))
            DataRow newRow = dt.NewRow();
            newRow["FLOATCOL"] = "1.337"; //  newRow["FLOATCOL"] = 1.337
            newRow["NUMCOL"] = "5"; //  newRow["NUMCOL"] = 5
            dt.Rows.Add(newRow);
            OracleConnection conn = new OracleConnection(Properties.Settings.Default.OracleString);
            conn.Open();
            OracleBulkCopy copy = new OracleBulkCopy(conn);
            copy.ColumnMappings.Add("FLOATCOL", "FLOATCOL");
            copy.ColumnMappings.Add("NUMCOL", "NUMCOL");
            copy.DestinationTableName = "TEST1";
            copy.WriteToServer(dt);
            copy.DestinationTableName = "TEST2";
            copy.WriteToServer(dt);
            copy.DestinationTableName = "TEST3";
            copy.WriteToServer(dt);
            copy.Close();
            conn.Close();
        }With the commented lines, all 3 statements work. With the uncommented lines, it only works for table "TEST1". I don't know why, but Oracle seems to cast the strings to numbers if FLOAT in combination with NUMBER is used - but not with BINARY_FLOAT and NUMBER .

  • Invalid character 0 ... error in xmlparsing??? strange behaviour

    Hello Everyone,
    I am experience a strange behaviour with XML processing in oracle. I have a xml that contains HTML as CDATA
    as the content of a node.
    When the HTML size is greater than 51 KB (or 51. something KB i was not able to find the exact boundary)
    it's giving an error.
    XML Parsing Failer
    LPX-00216: invalid character 0 (0x0)
    I tried to search for null character (chr(0)) but couldn't find one.
    The strangest part is when i am trying with HTML size as 48 KB/24 KB (anyting less than 51 KB) it's getting passed and
    the large HTML ( > 52KB ) is being build manually by copy pasting the small xml again and again. So if the small HTML
    is getting parsed what's wrong with the large html which consist of nothing but the small html again and again?
    When the HTML size is greater than 64KB oracle is throwing error saying node size cannot exceed 64KB which is fine.
    First i thought that it was a character set encoding problem. The HTML is encoded in UTF-8 and the database is in
    WE8MSWIN1252, but it seems that it is not the problem as i have explained above?
    Can anyone help me what am i missing in here?
    Thanks,
    Ru

    What database version are you on?
    Can you provide us an example of XML you are using?
    Can you show us the code you are using to parse it?
    Can you tell us what you are expecting as output?
    Based on your current description all we know is you have some XML and you're getting an error when you parse it. By itself that's pretty meaningless.

  • Looks like a bug in DB, Getting a invalid number with a group by

    Hi All,
    This is very strange problem that I am encountering. Would like to hear from you, if you have also witnessed something similar:
    What I am doing:
    basically I am doing something like:
    Select x,y,z,count(distinct a) from
    taba,tabb,(select col1,col2 from tabc) tc,
    tabd left outer join tabe on tabd.col=tabe.col,
    viewf
    where (joins between the tabs)
    group by x,y,z
    All the join columns are number(10,0) in all the tables/views.
    If I run this query I get an invalid number 01722. If I comment the count(distinct a) column, the query runs fine.
    Or if I put the to_number for all the joined columns in the where clause, the query runs fine.
    I have never seen such behaviour of Oracle database. May be I am doing something really wrong?
    Looking for help.
    Thanks in advance.

    Well, I do not think it is related to GROUP BY or to DISTINCT. Most likely you have some column X that holds both numeric and non-numeric strings and some other column that indicates if column X value is numeric. If this is the case, you can get ORA-01722 simply becuase Oracle does not apply where clause predicates in the order they are listed. Assume column c1 holds numeric strings when column c2 is set to some specific value. Even if you use:
    WHERE c2 = 'some-value'
    AND TO_NUMBER(c1) = 5
    it is not guaranteed Oracle will first check c2 and only then c1. And if Oracle decides to check c1 first, TO_NUMBER will fail on the first non-numeric c1. Especially it can happen in not very recent Oracle versions. In recent versions most of the time optimizer is smart enough to realize that checking c2 costs less that converting c1 to number and then checking it, so it will check c2 first. Anyway, you need to use ORDERED_PREDICATES hint to let optimizer know to follow predicate sequence. For example, in 9i:
    SQL> create table tbx(flag varchar2(6),value varchar2(10))
      2  /
    Table created.
    SQL> insert into tbx values('alpha','abc');
    1 row created.
    SQL> insert into tbx values('number','123');
    1 row created.
    SQL> commit;
    Commit complete.
    SQL> select * from tbx
      2  where flag = 'number' and value = 123
      3  /
    where flag = 'number' and value = 123
    ERROR at line 2:
    ORA-01722: invalid number
    SQL> select /*+ ORDERED_PREDICATES */ * from tbx
      2  where flag = 'number' and value = 123
      3  /
    FLAG   VALUE
    number 123
    SQL>SY.

  • Invalid Number exception

    Hi experts,
    I have a very strange problem. I have a query to which I am binding a value. The datatype of the value is number. Whenever I am executing the VO for the second time it is throwing ORA-01722: invalid number exception. The value that is being bound is 100% number. The JDBC version I am using is 9.2.0.6.0
    It is reproducible in instance and JDeveloper.
    I have no clue why it is happening. Appreciate if someone can give some pointers.

    I'm just trying to rule out the possiblity of unsynchronized load balanced servers because the issue begaviour is not pointing to code as such otherwise it shouldn't have been happening in a random way. Have you put the trace and seen the value of parameter which is getting binded at the time the error is getting generated.

  • Strange behaviour from new 2012R2 in old domain

    Hi all,
    At work (education level), I'm starting to take charge of windows admin, so beiing a noob admin I'm finding strange behaviours that I hope you can help me solve them all :-)
    We've one (big) domain with about 5000 computers (workers and students all together), and around 50000 users (again, workers and students all together) setup like this:
    DC-DOMAIN-1:
    Windows Server 2008R2
    Shares NETLOGON and SYSVOL
    DC-DOMAIN-2:
    Windows Server 2003 R2 x64
    Shares CertEnroll, NETLOGON, SMSLOGON, SYSVOL
    Checking RootDSE, I see 'domainControllerFunctionaly is Windows 2003' (DC-DOMAIN-2)
    So, with this setup, I've noticed these strange behaviours, hope list isn't too big  (guess there will be more behaviours but these seemed too odd):
    1) On DC-DOMAIN-2, WinServer 2003 eventlog, inside 'Directory Service', I found this warning event ID 1083 (Source NTDS Replication):
    Active Directory could not update the following object with changes received from the domain controller at the following network address because Active Directory was busy processing information.
    Object:CN=<an user name>, CN=Users, DC=DOMAIN
    Usually followed by an information event (eventid 1955) which says:
    ctive Directory encountered a write conflict when applying replicated changes to the following object.
    Object:
    <SAME USER OBJECT THAN PREVIOUS EVENT ID>
    Time in seconds:
    0
    Event log entries preceding this entry will indicate whether or not the update was accepted.
    A write conflict can be caused by simultaneous changes to the same object or simultaneous changes to other objects that have attributes referencing this object. This commonly occurs when the object represents a large group with many members, and the functional level of the forest is set to Windows 2000. This conflict triggered additional retries of the update. If the system appears slow, it could be because replication of these changes is occurring.
    User Action
    Use smaller groups for this operation or raise the functional level to Windows Server 2003.
    And having as result that user being blocked in domain.
    2) I've added a new print server based on Windows Server 2012R2 (running inside an updated ESX 5.5 with VMXNET3 ethernet adapter as recommended by vmware), and seen in the event viewer these warnings/errors:
    At System log:
    Error Event ID 5783, Source NETLOGON:
    The session setup to the Windows NT or Windows 2000 Domain Controller \\DC-DOMAIN-2.fulldns.name for the domain DOMAIN is not responsive. The current RPC call from Netlogon on \\PRINTSERVER to \\DC-DOMAIN-2.fulldns.name has been cancelled.
    I've seen Event ID 5783 with DC-DOMAIN-1 too....
    Error Event ID 5719, Source NETLOGON:
    This computer was not able to set up a secure session with a domain controller in domain DOMAIN due to the following:
    The remote procedure call failed and did not execute.
    This may lead to authentication problems. Make sure that
    this computer is connected to the network. If the problem persists, please contact your domain administrator.
    ADDITIONAL INFO:
    If this computer is a domain controller for the specified domain, it sets up the secure session to the primary domain controller emulator in the specified domain. Otherwise, this computer sets up the secure session to any domain controller in the specified domain.
    At Microsoft-Windows-TerminalServices-RemoteConnectinoManager/Admin found also this warning:
    Warning Event ID 20499 Source TerminalServices-RemoteConnectionManager:
    Remote Desktop Services has taken too long to load the user configuration from server \\DC-DOMAIN-2.fulldns.name for user administrator
    3) If I try Group Policy Modeling on DC-DOMAIN-1 (server 2008R2), everything works fine, no matter if I try it against DC-DOMAIN-1 or DC-DOMAIN-2, but if I try this from the Server 2012R2 (the one from point 2), I get this:
    Simulation against DC-DOMAIN-2: Gets executed, but all GPO show as inaccessible, empty or disabled.
    Simulation against DC-DOMAIN-1: Sometimes it gets executed as DC-DOMAIN-2, sometimes I get an error saying query can't be executed.
    4) From server 2012R2, I usually manage printing GPO. If I click on the domain root (GPMC, forest, Domains, DOMAIN-NAME-ROOT) right pane, I get a pop up saying:
    'A processing error ocurred collecting data using this base domain controller. Please change the base domain controller and try again'
    After closing popup, right pane says something like 'DC-DOMAIN-2.fulldns.name' is the baseline domain controller for this domain.
    No infrastructure Status information exists for this domain.
    Click the Detect Now button below to gather infrastructure status from all of the domain controllers in this domain.
    Pressing 'Detect Now' does nothing, and trying to select New Baseline DC shows again same pop up than before.
    5) Last, but not least, I've feeling that GPO takes too much to apply. I've found scenarios in which even after executing 'gpupdate /force' correctly on client computer either local or domain admin, I can't see the new changes (gpresult says it has been
    updated though). But couldn't find anything on eventlog that informs about problems with GPOs...
    For all these strange behaviours I've noticed in last month that I started checking things as sys admin, I believe domain is damaged, or something is wrong there (not just my new server 2012R2, even if it's running inside an ESX, blehh), so please, any hint
    on what to check, what to change, what to fix, would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Paul,
    Honestly, I'm still trying to figure out all broken things reported by tests :( Guess Jesper's suggestion about adding a new 2008 DC to get rid of 2003 and start checking again after that may be best option.
    I'll try to summarize list of things I believe are wrong:
    running
    DCDIAG /V /C /D /E /s:yourdcname > c:\dcdiag.log  for every DC, shows different errors. They show things such as:
    another domain running here (not administered by us, only relationship is that our users are shared with that domain, nothing else) appear when Printing out pDsInfo (as if they were DC of our domain too, but they do not even share RootDomain). Guess it
    may be for a bug old sys admin had when clonning from his 2008R2 template, that forgot to change SID... I already noticed 1 year ago our print server shared SID with those DC, guess there may be more servers sharing SID too :-(
    Within Starting test: Replications, I see few messages at Replication Latency Check, such as the one for CN=Schema, CN=Configuration, DC=<ourdomain>:
    Latency information for 35 entries in the vector were ignored.
                      35 were retired Invocations.  0 were either: read-only replicas and are not verifiably latent, or dc's no longer replicating this nc.  0 had no latency information (Win2K DC)
    On Services test, I see an
       Invalid service type: RpcSs on DC-DOMAIN-3, current value
                WIN32_OWN_PROCESS, expected value WIN32_SHARE_PROCESS
    On SystemLog, I see LOTS of warnings/errors such as:
    A warning event occurred.  EventID: 0x80000002
                Time Generated: 07/28/2014   08:21:54
                (Event String (event log = System) could not be retrieved, error
                0x503)
             An error event occurred.  EventID: 0xC0000003
                Time Generated: 07/28/2014   08:22:18
                (Event String (event log = System) could not be retrieved, error
                0x3afc)
    Missing entries on DNS (we've a static DNS)
    netdiag.exe /v > c:\netdiag.log Showed again DNS problems such as our primary DNS pointing to all DC, secondary
    DNS pointing just to DC with FSMO roles,...
    repadmin.exe /showrepl * /verbose /all /intersite > c:\repl.txt  Gave no errors, now I must check in detail
    if every replica is correct
    And finally,
    dnslint /ad /s "ip address of your dc"  gave more DNS problems:
    One or more DNS servers may not be authoritative for the domain
    One or more DNS servers did not respond to UDP queries
    One or more zone files may have expired
    SOA record data was unavailable and/or missing on one or more DNS servers
    Sumarizing, guess it will be better to fix DNS problems, promote new 2008R2 DC to get rid of 2003 one, promote domain to 2008 too, check again for messages and relationship with other domain, and then come back here for support if needed
    EDIT: Almost forgot to talk about SYSVOL folder. As said before, there are 426 GPO folders inside Policies. Of them, 375 have an inetres.adm files in it (smallest one 1398 KB, almost all of them 2307 or 2707 kb)....

  • Strange behaviour of .swf movies - AS2/AS3

    Hello from Italy,
         this is my first post and I think I need some help from the experts...
         I am putting together an interactive Flash movie which is made of several different small movies. For the sake of clarity, I'll call them A.swf, B.swf, ..., Z.swf. The movies are launched from each other depending on certain buttons I've implemented.
         The first one, A.swf, is actually a sort of "main menu": it grants access to all the other movies and it is also the point of return from them when a certain button is pressed.
         Important: All the movies are scripted in AS3, except for the last one which, for a number of reasons, is scripted in AS2.
         The return from any (but the last) movie to the first, say B.swf to A.swf, is implemented like this:
    function eventResponseSole(event:MouseEvent):void {
    var myLoader:Loader = new Loader();
    addChild(myLoader);
    var url:URLRequest = new URLRequest("A.swf");
    myLoader.load(url);
    sole_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, eventResponseSole);
         This is, of course, AS3.
         The last movie, which is scripted in AS2, returns to A.swf like this:
    luna_btn.onRelease = function() {
    loadMovie("A.swf", _root);
         The strange behaviour is this: if I launch Z.swf and navigate with the proper button up to A.swf, everything works. But if I launch A.swf, navigate to Z.swf and attempt to return, this doesn't work. There are no problems, instead, moving up and down between movies scripted in AS3, that is with the first bit of code I've pasted. My guess is that the syntax in AS2 is correct, but something stops A.swf from "launching itself" when the control is transferred to Z.swf, but the movie is launched in the original window. Is this diagnosis reasonable? And if so, would someone kindly provide a way out of this? Re-doing Z.swf in AS3 is not an option, I'm afraid, it will have to stay as it is. I also have to add I've tried some solutions by setting _lockroot, but this doesn't seem to work.
         Many thanks in advance!
         Marco Olivotto

    Mixing AS2 into AS3 is not without stipulations... and I am no expert on translating those stipulations, but here is what the Flash documentation says regarding the matter... the third paragraph may be significant to your case:
    - ActionScript 3.0 code can load a SWF file written in ActionScript 1.0 or 2.0, but it cannot access the SWF file's variables and functions.
    - SWF files written in ActionScript 1.0 or 2.0 cannot load SWF files written in ActionScript 3.0. This means that SWF files authored in Flash 8 or Flex Builder 1.5 or earlier versions cannot load ActionScript 3.0 SWF files.
    The only exception to this rule is that an ActionScript 2.0 SWF file can replace itself with an ActionScript 3.0 SWF file, as long as the ActionScript 2.0 SWF file hasn't previously loaded anything into any of its levels. An ActionScript 2.0 SWF file can do this through a call to loadMovieNum(), passing a value of 0 to the level parameter.

  • ORA-01722: invalid number when performing query

    Hi,
    I am running SQL Developer on a laptop (XP Pro) accessing Oracle Applications
    Product Version     11.5.10.2
    Platform     IBM SP AIX
    OS Version     AIX
    Database     9.2.0.7.0
    Support ID     14460365
    If I run the following query it works fine -
    select
    mtrh.request_number
    ,to_number(mtrh.request_number)
    from
    mtl_txn_request_headers mtrh
    where
    to_number(mtrh.request_number) = 135060
    and mtrh.request_number = '135060' -- works with this line in!!!!
    however if I comment out the last line I get
    An error was encountered performing the requested operation :
    ORA-01722: invalid number
    The field request_number is defined as varchar2(30)
    It seems that there is something strange about the way it handles to_number in where clauses.
    Thanks
    Mick Sulley

    You have an invalid number in request_number. If you add "and mtrh.request_number = '135060' ", the result set will be reduced to only those rows which have 135060 in the column and the to_number() will work. WIthout that row, it does to_number(request_number) for all rows in order to identify the one you want. When it comes across a request_number column which contains an invalid number it reports an error.
    <preach>
    If request_number is a number then it should be stored in a number column. If it isn't, don't try an convert it to a number.
    </preach>

  • ORA-01722: invalid number caused with SQL using bind variable

    Hi,
    Im am hoping that someone can help me resolve a problem thats only just services and is being experienced on quite a few clients.
    our application uses C++ exes and makes OCI calls to the database.
    what has happened in the last week or so, there has been quite a few invalid number errors being received on a prod server but strangly enough we cannot reproduct the error on our UAT system.
    The sql is using bind variables and the information in the trace file shows that a number is being used for the bind variable, here is an extract from one trace file:
    for some schemas, the bind variable value is some currupted value, i think:
    oacdty=01 mxl=32(21) mxlc=00 mal=00 scl=00 pre=00
    oacflg=03 fl2=1206001 frm=01 csi=178 siz=32 off=0
    kxsbbbfp=9a8d62b8 bln=32 avl=03 flg=05
    value="Â*d"
    but on another schema, the value used is:
    Bind#0
    oacdty=01 mxl=32(32) mxlc=00 mal=00 scl=00 pre=00
    oacflg=03 fl2=1206001 frm=01 csi=178 siz=32 off=0
    kxsbbbfp=c5f92718 bln=32 avl=04 flg=05
    value="2101"
    however both produce invalid number errors.
    I am relatively inexperienced as a DBA so would appreciate as much help as i can get.

    Could you post your sql statement that is being run.
    Also post the query plan from your uat system and the one from your production system (They are likely to be different)
    You can export the stats from your production system and run them in your uat system. If you do this, then the execution plans should be the same on both systems(dbms_stats) and if you have the same data you should run into the same problem on uat as in production.
    The root cause of this type of problem is having a column in a table which holds values which are of different datatypes. Typically there is a condition in the where clause which indicates that for example only numeric columns should be retrieved from the column which holds multiple data types. However since the optimizer is free to rewrite the query any way it sees fit, (It does not necessarily execute in the order the sql statement is written) it does not filter this data first, and therefore you hit non-numeric data and run into the invalid number error.
    You can use little techniques like using an inline view with rownum in the column list, to perform the first filter. This ensures that the inline view is executed on its own, rather than being merged (materialized) with the rest of the query.
    A quick temporary solution is to use a comparison like to_char(column_name) = variable
    Make sure your comparisons are correct and it doesn't negatively impact on performance of the query

  • How to delete duplicates in oracle 10g ( strange behaviour)

    Recently we migrated from oracel 8i to oralce 10g and we face this problem.
    When we try to delete duplicates using rowid ( analytical functions row_number()/
    or normal delete ) and commit the same , still we find some duplicates to be existing because of which we are not able to enable costriants and resulting in process failure.
    When we run the same delete statement next time it removes more duplicates than the required or sometimes required duplicates resulting in abnormal behaviour.
    I don not understand this strange behaviour after upgrading to oracle 10g.
    It'd be great if some one who has idea on this can throw light on the same.
    thanks

  • Strange Behaviour after 6.0.2 install

    Hello all,
    This is my first posting to Apple Discussions, so please be kind...
    I recently installed iTunes 6.0.2 via Software Update and noticed strange behaviour while trying to edit a smart playlist. I have a smart playlist set up to select songs between 3 and 5 stars in My Rating, which have not been played in the last four weeks. While trying to edit the star range, I found that I could only select two stars or five stars. If I clicked one star, it changed to two; if I clicked any other number of stars, it changed to five. As a test, I restored the previous iTunes.app from backup and the problem disappeared.
    Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this?
    Thanks,
    Jon

    Hello Web_Diko,
    I'm sorry but I don't know where you can find that package. I take nightly backups of my machine so I just restored the previous version from my backup. Maybe try a search for "iTunes 6.0.1" on Google or on www.apple.com?
    When I mentioned the "privacy thing" I was alluding to the various items about iTunes 6.0.3 "phoning home" with details of what tracks you are playing together with your Apple ID. It doesn't bother me personally, but I think that the complaints are legitimate, because people should be told whenever they install a program that sends information back to the vendor.

  • Invalid number in 10g but not in 9i

    Hello,
    I have a weird problem with the database version 10.2.0.2.0.
    The following function executes in database version 9.2.0.7.0 as expected and for a long while everything is ok. But know on the new database I got an error: ORA-01722: invalid number at this line:
    FOR rec_apex_navigation_role IN c_apex_navigation_role( rec_core_role.ID )
    I discovered that all referenced columns there are of the type NUMBER(10,0), so that isn`t the problem.
    Here is the whole code of the function:
    FUNCTION get_page_role_sql
    RETURN VARCHAR2 IS
    proc_name CONSTANT VARCHAR2( 60 ) := package_name || '.get_page_role_sql';
    ret_value VARCHAR2( 32000 );
    p_column VARCHAR2( 100 );
    p_column_nr PLS_INTEGER;
    CURSOR c_apex_navigation IS
    SELECT a.ID,
    a.page_id,
    a.page_name
    FROM apex_navigation a
    ORDER BY ID;
    CURSOR c_apex_navigation_role(
    x_role_id apex_navigation_role.role_id%TYPE
    ) IS
    SELECT c.seq_id,
    c.c001 page_id,
    nr.role_id
    FROM wwv_flow_collections c, apex_navigation_role nr
    WHERE c.collection_name = c_col_page_role
    AND nr.navigation_id = TO_NUMBER( c.c001 )
    AND nr.role_id = x_role_id;
    CURSOR c_core_role IS
    SELECT ID,
    NAME,
    ROWNUM col_nr
    FROM core_role
    ORDER BY ID;
    BEGIN
    wwv_flow_collection.create_or_truncate_collection( c_col_page_role );
    wwv_flow_collection.create_or_truncate_collection( c_col_role_column );
    ret_value := 'SELECT c002 "Id",c003 "Seite",';
    FOR rec_apex_navigation IN c_apex_navigation
    LOOP
    wwv_flow_collection.add_member( p_collection_name => c_col_page_role, p_c001 => rec_apex_navigation.ID, p_c002 => rec_apex_navigation.page_id, p_c003 => rec_apex_navigation.page_name );
    END LOOP;
    FOR rec_core_role IN c_core_role
    LOOP
    p_column_nr := rec_core_role.col_nr + 3;
    p_column := 'c' || TRIM( TO_CHAR( p_column_nr, '000' ));
    ret_value := ret_value || 'APEX_ITEM.CHECKBOX( ' || p_column_nr || ', c001 , DECODE( ' || p_column || ',NULL, NULL, ''CHECKED'' ) ) "' || rec_core_role.NAME || '",';
    wwv_flow_collection.add_member( p_collection_name =>
    c_col_role_column, p_c001 => p_column_nr, p_c002 => rec_core_role.ID, p_c003 => rec_core_role.NAME );
    FOR rec_apex_navigation_role IN c_apex_navigation_role( rec_core_role.ID )
    LOOP
    wwv_flow_collection.update_member_attribute( p_collection_name => c_col_page_role, p_seq => rec_apex_navigation_role.seq_id, p_attr_number => p_column_nr, p_attr_value => rec_apex_navigation_role.role_id );
    END LOOP;
    END LOOP;
    ret_value := RTRIM( ret_value, ',' ) || ' FROM wwv_flow_collections WHERE collection_name = ''' || c_col_page_role || '''';
    RETURN ret_value;
    END;
    So the strange thing is, that it works in version 9 and not in version 10...
    Does anybody have an idea where the problem is?
    Thank you,
    Tim

    Well, I would suggest that there is something in your data which is causing the problem most likely due to an implicit data conversion, even though you insist not.
    However, without your data it is impossible to comment, only possible to guess.
    Can you reduce the problem any further to a reproducible test case that someone else could run?
    Have you tried the two workarounds in the article, not as a permanent solution, but to see if your problem persists?

  • Sdo_util error code ORA-01722: invalid number in Oracle 11g R2

    Dear every one,
    Greetings.
    Hi. As mentioned in the title, I met a strange problem when I was trying to extrude the 2D objects into 3D. The error code says ORA-01722: invalid number. Then, to eliminate the possibility that the code would be wrong, I took the sample code from the ORACLE document about sdo_util.extrude
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e11830/sdo_util.htm#SPATL1230
    the same error appeared. However, I tested the same code through the SQLDeveloper in Linux (where the 11g R2 is located) to perform the same thing in my other database in windows server 2008 where 11g R1 was installed. Works fine.
    Is there any particular configuration I should do or I have done wrong. Any one knows, please help. Thanks.

    Hi,-
    Please use w/o 'FALSE' parameter for 11.2.0.1.0 release:
    SELECT SDO_UTIL.EXTRUDE(
    SDO_GEOMETRY(
    2003,
    null,
    null,
    SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY(1,1003,1),
    SDO_ORDINATE_ARRAY(5, 1,8,1,8,6,5,7,5,1)),
    SDO_NUMBER_ARRAY(0,0,0,0,0),
    SDO_NUMBER_ARRAY(5,10,10,5,5),
    0.005) from dual;
    In 11.1.0.7 release, you need to use 'FALSE' parameter:
    SELECT SDO_UTIL.EXTRUDE(
    SDO_GEOMETRY(
    2003,
    null,
    null,
    SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY(1,1003,1),
    SDO_ORDINATE_ARRAY(5, 1,8,1,8,6,5,7,5,1)),
    SDO_NUMBER_ARRAY(0,0,0,0,0),
    SDO_NUMBER_ARRAY(5,10,10,5,5),
    'FALSE',
    0.005) from dual;
    We fixed this confusion for the next releases so that both interfaces can be used
    and 'FALSE' parameter will be ignored.
    Best regards

  • Invalid number error when calculating with sysdate

    Hello - I am getting invalid number error for query below:
    SELECT *
    FROM
    trkg
    WHERE
    trkg.tran_type=500
    AND
    trkg.mod_date_time>sysdate-0.5
    I am not sure what is wrong with above query. Strange part is that it executes fine in one environmnet and returns 'invalid number' error in other environmnet? Please help me find missing setting.

    more information:
    Table1: LOCN_HDR with field locn_brcd and locn_id
    locn_brcd locn_id
    26001A 0000086
    26002A 0000087
    26001B 0000088
    Table2: PICK_LOCN with field LOCN_ID
    locn_id
    0000086
    0000087
    0000088
    Table3: TRKG with field from_locn and mod_date_time (this is timestamp field)
    from_locn mod_date_Time
    0000086 29-MAY-13 10.09.23.000000000 AM
    0000087 29-MAY-13 10.11.48.000000000 AM
    0000088 31-MAY-13 04.07.21.000000000 PM
    Now I combine Table1 and Table3
    select * from appwms.locn_hdr lh
    join
    (SELECT lh.locn_brcd,trkg.mod_Date_Time from appwms.trkg
    join appwms.locn_hdr lh
    on trkg.FROM_LOCN = lh.LOCN_ID
    where
    trkg.TRAN_TYPE = 500
    and trkg.mod_Date_time>sysdate-5
    ) trkg1 on lh.locn_brcd=trkg1.locn_brcd
    -- returns values correctly
    Now when I join another table to above (ie table 2), it returns 'invalid number'
    select * from appwms.locn_hdr lh
    join
    (SELECT lh.locn_brcd,trkg.mod_Date_Time from appwms.trkg
    join appwms.locn_hdr lh
    on trkg.FROM_LOCN = lh.LOCN_ID
    where
    trkg.TRAN_TYPE = 500
    and trkg.mod_Date_time>sysdate-5
    ) trkg1 on lh.locn_brcd=trkg1.locn_brcd
    join
    (select pld.locn_id,lh.locn_brcd
    from APPWMS.PICK_LOCN PLD join appwms.locn_hdr lh
    on pld.locn_id = lh.LOCN_ID ) picklocn on picklocn.locn_brcd=lh.locn_brcd
    why are rows returned with one join? when i have more than one join why does it return error 'invalid number'.
