Order By Class (Report Builder)
Hi, I am developing report for EBS. I have four groups in my data model section. I am sorting my records only for last 2 groups but its not sorting this data as per the understanding. Any help.

Hi Bruno / Rainer,
I am implementing the same solution, and after adding the lexical parameter reference in the SQL statement and calling the report from Oracle Forms the report failed with the following error on the report server:
Terminated with error: <br>REP-300: missing expression select wcsr_no , wcsr_date , wcsr_rec_week_zone , wcsr_loc_house_num || ' ' || wcsr_loc_pre_dir || ' ' || wcsr_loc_street_name || ' ' || wcsr_loc_street_type || ' ' || wcsr_loc_post_dir || ' ' || wcsr_loc_unit || ' ' || wcsr_loc_city || ' ' || wcsr ==>
No change has been done to the SQL statement except adding the &p_orderby parameter at the end of the query.
Any suggestions? Are all parameters defined as "bind" parameters on the Repotr Object Navigator.?
Thanks

I just installed CF 8.1 Report Builder and attempted to use
it for the first time.
Is it required to have RDS activated on the server in order
to use report Builder?Exactly the same problem here
Windows 7 IIS7 Local installation
None of the obvious steps works. -

Implement Java Classes to Report Builder
Hi, I have problems implementing own java classes into the Report Builder. OK, let say I am running a simple report using STUDENT_ID and STUDENT_NAME. What I wanted to do is to concatenate a string "XXXX" to one of the records in STUDENT_NAME (e.g. STUDENT_NAME = 'Mary').
The Java class that I wrote has a static method:
public class MyAppend
public static String myMethod(String s)
s = s +"XXXX";
return s;
I also wrote a Formula Column in Report Builder called "TestFormula":
function TestFormula return varChar2 is
StuName varchar2(40);
myStr varchar2(40);
begin
select STUMST.STU_NAME
into StuName
from STUMST
where STUMST.STU_NAME= 'Mary';
->myStr := myappend.myMethod(myPackage.aobj, StuName);
return myStr;
end;
The error message I get when I compile this Formula Column PL/SQL is (with '->' pointing to the line):
Wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'MYMETHOD'
How do I correct this error?
Thank you.
JoeyThanks Navneet. Actually I am new to PL/SQL programming. I have another problem here. I would like to list all the records of the STUDENT_NAME. How would I go about it using PL/SQL? This is the Formula Column I have written but it only shows me 1 record:
function TestFormula return varChar2 is
StuName varchar2(40);
cursor c1 is
select all stumst.stu_name
from stumst;
begin
LOOP
open c1;
fetch c1 into stuName;
stuName := myappend.myMethod(stuname);
return stuName;
EXIT WHEN c1%NOTFOUND;
end loop;
end;
By the way, can you please give me any useful sites for reference to the PL/SQL?
Thank you.

How to find the maximum of group sums within a specific column using report builder 3.0
Hi
For each part number I am trying to find out in which week of a month did the largest daily shipment occur... so using report builder 3.0
in SSRS 2012 I can find daily, weekly and monthly totals for the units shipped but I am having a hard time thinking through the logic to find the daily max for each week.
in my data I can have multiple orders/shipments for the same product on the same day.
The ultimate goal is to set inventory levels
So..
In my matrix report I have
Row groups:
Classid => Product class
InvtID => Item Part Number
Column Groups:
FiscYr=> Fiscal Year
PerPost => Month or period the transaction occurred
Week_period => the week the transaction occurred
Day_period => The day that the transaction occurred
The aggregations are
Sum(case_shipped)
Max(case_shipped)
The Sum(case_shipped) is working as desired but the Max(case_shipped) is picking out the max amount shipped on any one order when looking
at the week, month or fiscal period and that is not what I need.
I have attached a screenshot since a picture is worth more than my words. I have also included some sample data
I would very much appreciate any thoughts on this. I am guessing that the solution has something to do with using the inscope function but
I can't wrap my head around how to use it
Thank you
Tom D
Here is some sample data for Product A
Invtid Case_ship Trandate FiscYr PerPost week_period day_period
A 10 1/1/2104 2014 1
1 1
A 3 1/1/2014 2014 1
1 1
A 50 1/2/2104 2014 1
1 2
A 30 1/3/2014 2014 1
1 3
A 20 1/9/2104 2014 1
2 2
A 5 1/9/2104 2014 1
2 2
A 20 1/10/2014 2014 1
2 3
A 60 1/10/2104 2014 1
2 3
On 1/1/2104 I shipped a total of 13 cases
On 1/2/2104 I shipped a total of 50 cases
On 1/3/2104 I shipped a total of 30 cases
On 1/9/2014 I shipped a total of 30 cases
On 1/10/2014 I shipped a total of 80 cases
On 1/9 I shipped a total of 25 cases
I would like to show that in week 1 the maximum number of cases shipped on any day is 50 (1/2/2014)
I would like to show that in week 2 the maximum number of cases shipped on any day is 80 (1/10/2104)
I would also like to show that in perpost (month) 1 the maximum
number of cases shipped on any day is 80 (1/10/2104)Hi
I was able to find a solution
I built a new dataset in report builder using the same table as before but tried out the "Group and Aggregate" function and for the case_ship
field I chose "Sum" as my aggregate.... In essence this gave me a very cool and easy daliy sum of the shipped cases.
When I used this new dataset and built my matrix report I was able to easily get the max daily shipment for each product by week, month and
year.

But the alias names does not change in the group of the data-model, although two query are running with different alias names at different times. In the data model you see the alias names of the first implemented select statement, which are the column fields in the layout.

I select the shared datasource from the data source propeties dialog, test the connection and everything is good.
I add a dataset by selecting "use a dataset embedded in my report" option within the Dataset properties dialog.
I select the newly added data source, click the "Stored procedure" query type and drop down the list box and select my intended stored procedure.
the timeout for the dataset is "0" seconds.
I click the "OK" button and I'm presented with the parameters to the stored procedure.
I enter valid data for the parameters and click the "OK" button.
I then get the following error message after 30 seconds:
The problem is, all of the timeouts, that I'm aware of, have values of zero (no timeout) or high enough values that 30 seconds isn't even close to the timeout.
I think the smallest timeout we have is 120 seconds.
I have searched this site and many others and the solutions all involve altering the stored procedure to get the fields into report builder and then revert the stored procedure back to its original form.
To me, this is NOT a solution.
I have too many stored procedures that need to be brought into Report Builder.
I need a real solution.
Thank you for you time, Tim Caldwell.
Timothy E CaldwellI don't mean to be rude, but really, check to see if the stored procedure can return data rows???
Maybe I'm not being clear enough.
The stored procedure runs perfectly fine.
it runs perfectly fine in the production environment and the test environment.
I can access the stored procedure in several ways and have it return correct data.
I can even trick report builder into creating a dataset with parameters and run the stored procedure that way.
What I cannot do, is to get report builder to not timeout after 30 seconds on the initial creation of a dataset with a Query type of stored procedure.
I have seen this issues posted again and again and again on may different sites and the "solution" is to simplifiy the stored procedure by creating a stored procedure that has a create table and a select in the stored procedure and that's it. After
report builder creates the dataset the developer then has to replace the simplified stored procedure with the actual stored procedure and everything works fine after that.
HOWEVER, having to go through this process for 70 or more stored procedures is ridiculous.
It would appear that there is something within report builder itself that is causing this issue.
The SQL Script included is an example of a stored procedure that will not create fields create a dataset with fields and parameters in Report Builder 3.0:
USE [CRUM_IT]
GO
/****** Object: StoredProcedure [dbo].[COGNOS_Level5ScriptSP] Script Date: 11/17/2014 08:02:26 ******/

We are in the middle of testing our R12 Upgrade. I am getting this error from the invoice XML-based report that we are using in R12. (based on log). Only for a specific invoice number that this error is appearing. The trace is not showing me anything. I don't know how to proceed on how to debug where the error is coming from and how to fix this. I found a patch 8339196 that shows exactly the same error number but however, I have to reproduce the error in another test instance before we apply the patch. I created exactly the same order and interface to AR and it doesnt generate an error. I even copied the order and interface to AR and it doesn't complete with error. It is only for this particular invoice that is having an issue and I need to get the root cause as to why. Please help. I appreciate what you all can contribute to identify and fix our issue. We have not faced this issue in R11i that we are maintaining right now for the same program which has been running for sometime. Add subquery to main query in Report Builder 6i
Usually, when you add a subquery to an existing query in a report, you'll see the query in data model marked by a paper clip icon with a forward slash across it (means "Subquery Inside"). All current field names in current query (except CF and CS) will have a '1' appended after it (CF and CS fields are not affected), but in your sql, the column names stay the same. So there is an out-of-sync situation with the column names.
To fix this:
1) before change anything, back up old report somewhere else
2) copy the original query somewhere else as backup
3) open the query in Report Builder
4) wipe out the query, replace it by "select 1 from dual" to reset it and press ok.
5) replace "select 1 from dual" with your new query with an embedded subquery.
6) All field names will be without the '1' appendix.
7) check all the CS fields, the source should be reset to null. Redefine the CS fields using backed up report as reference. CF fields are not affected.
8) move the fields and restore the break orders according to backed up report.
9) Recompile whole report.
10) save report again and you're done.
Maybe you don't need this in the latest version of Report Builder, but in 6i, this is what I do.If you use aliases for your item names in your original query you avoid this problem....
eg
Select field1 item1, field2 item2 from table.....
item 1 and item2 will stay in your layout between query changes.

Folder: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15Hi,
i had the same problem. First we figured out, that the Report Builder was working in the Root Site Collection of a Web Application but not in any other Site Collection of the WebApplication.
After that we took a look how the Report Builder is started. The Content Type got a Click Once Application as Template, but you can't open the URL in the Browser neither the referenced file can be found in the Feature folder on the SharePoint Server. Turns
out SharePoint does some crazy http redirection and that this doesn't work on Site Collections which are not at the root. At least if you installed Reporting Services Add In Service Pack 1.
Fun Fact: If you start the Report Builder on the Root Site Collection you can create a Report which works on any Site Collection. Its just the launch if the Report Builder which is broken.
Our Solution was the SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 1 Cumulative Update 8 which fixed the Problem.
You can request a download here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2917531
Select the "2012_SP1_RSShrPnt_CU8_2917531_11_0_3401_x64" Fix and install it on every SharePoint Server in your Farm.
