The Organization Value is not Defaulting in Requisition from(R12) for a new responsibility I created for my OU.. (Purchasing --> Requisitions --> Requisition). Can anyone help on from where its picking the value?. The Location is coming Default. but when I manually enter the Organization, its prompting to enter Location again.
Please help on where to set the values.

The location and the Organization in the Requisition form, will get defaulted from the following location:

Login using the HR responsibility
Query the Employee ( requester ) in the Enter and Maintain Form
Press the Assignment Button

2)Organization:
Login using Purchasing responsibility
Navigate to Setup -> Organizations -> Locations
Query for the Location Assigned to the Employee in Step 1

  • I need default values for APEX form fields. How do I do this?

    Hello,
I am trying to set a default value in my form so that there will not get a null value. I have gone to the Column Defaults page and filled out the following fields in From Defaults:
    Default Value: 0
    Required: Yes
Help Text: Please enter a number.
When I add a record set or update a record and do not fill in the field, neither does it prompt me to fill it in or has a default value. It is blank.
Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks
    leh

    Hi leh,
    Defaults:
Click on the page item, go to the Default section, enter your value into the Default value area.
    Validations:
It's not quite as automatic as you are thinking.
You'll need to add a Validation process for the item.
First you go to the Page Processing section, then the Validations section, click the creation icon in the Validation section. You will first have the choice to create an item level or page level validation. Either will work. Next you will select the item you want to validate. Then, select Item Not Null. On one of the next pages you will be able to enter the error message. It's all pretty straightforward.

  • Two default values in a form

    Two needs:
    1. I need to insert the userid as a default value in a form to know who made the entry.
    2. Second, on the same form I want to insert the date with seconds precision..mm-dd-yy hh:mi:ss..
Can I just use sysdate and query my date format in seconds or does my date have to be inserted with seconds precision to be queried in seconds precision?

    Hi ,
If you dont want data to be displayed in this report for this two values , then exclude this two values when you restrcit your characteristic to the variable.
If you want not to display this values when user opens help for entering the values where he can see all the possible values for selection for the variable, then it wont be possible.
    Hope this will help.

  • How to set a default value in a form, for a current record.

    Hello,
I have created a form to store the details of an employee, details include employee id, name and lan id. I am wondering if it's possible to set the default value for an e-mail address. The e-mail address would be in the format '[email protected]'. So If I press 'create', I am directed to a form.
In the forename field, if i type 'stewart'
In the surname field, if I type 'Young'
Then in the e-mail field, I should see '[email protected]'
Furthermore, if I change 'stewart' to 'stuart', while still in the form, the e-mail address field is automatically updated to '[email protected]'
Would anyone be able to help with this problem?

    Hi,
to do this you need kind of interactivity in your form.
You can achieve this either by:
    1) using JavaScript onchange-events on forename and surname items, or
    2) use the AJAX Computations option of ApexLib, see: http://www.oracle-and-apex.com/ajax-computations-rich-client-feeling/

  • Using select list as default value in tabular form.

    Hi,
I am using Application Express 4.1.0.00.32. I have two questions that are related.
I have a Select item *'P1_SELECT'* and a tabular form My Items.
Question 1. The My Items tabular form col1 Attributes are set Display As Text Field, and the Tabular Form Attributes are set Default Type = item(application or page item name), Default = P1_SELECT. I have checked the session state value is set on P1_SELECT ie. Fred. What I need to know is, why, when adding a row to the tabular form My Items does col1 not display 'Fred' as the default value from the select item P1_SELECT? I can change col1 of the Tabular form to be Display as Text (save state) and this will work. However that leads me on to:
Question 2. After adding say 3 rows to the form, I then change the select P1_SELECT value to Bob and Bob is now set in session state on the P1_SELECT item, but when I again add row to the form the value Fred is still the value not Bob. It seems that the tabular form keeps the default value as Fred and not Bob. How can I get this to look or work like:
    col1_
    Fred
    Fred
    Fred
    Bob
    Your help is needed.
    Thanks.

    Howard (DBA in Training) wrote:
Do you submit the page or set the value after changing the selection? If not, the display value seems to be Bob but the working value is still Fred. That's what you are seeing right? In the "Settings" section, what do you have for "Page Action when Value Changed". I've been using "Redirect and Set Value" because I was staying on the same page after the selection.
Additional info which might be helpful (or NOT). ====================
NOTE: I am just a novice's novice with APEX and I had much agony with Select Lists. It was challenging to have the Select List value displayed because there seem to be so many different sources of the Select List value, namely:
    1) the current value in the session state
    2) the value you can specify in "Source value or expression" in the "Source" section of the Select List item
    3) the value you can specify in the "Post Calculation Compution" in the "Source" section of the Select List item
    4) the value you can specify in the "Default value" of the "Default" section of the Select List item
[Now, if I've misdescribed any of these, remember, this is from a novice's perspective.]
It's like putting a clock (back) together. Get any of the pieces wrong and it will probably not work right.
I had an addiitonal challenge in that I wanted the same Select List displayed on multiple pages and for the currently selected value (from the former page) to already be set on the new page when it was displayed. What fun!
To see what I did here: http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=43250:101 login Dever/Ima9Dever
Remember, I'm doing many things you will likely not need to do. I iniitalized the Select List for the first time it displayed. I copied the Select List value from old page to new page by storing it in an application item F217_SYS_NIC_NM.
    Best wishes,
    HowardHi Howard,
You don't have submit the page for just setting one item's session state. you can use a Dynamic Action OR use Page Items to Submit property if available (this is available in various places such as sql region, chart region etc)
In context to this question you don't have to do any of those..just see my example above
    Thanks

  • Setting Default values in portal form

I have a portal Master/Detail Form. I want to set some of the detail block columns value to the value of a field in the master block.
In the formattng option of the detail column, I tried setting default value to:
    p_session.get_value_as_varchar2(p_block_name=>'MASTER_BLOCK', p_attribute_name=>'A_CLASS_CD');
and default value type to: function (I also tried expression). It compiles, but gives me an error when I ry running form. How can you set the default value (from the value of a differnt field)?

    HI,
You can set the default value to value of a different field. The only way is to use javascript like onFocus.

  • A default value in a form

    Hi All
I have a form that collects info from the users and puts the info in the table. There is one field that I would like to enter a default value of 51, as this is a field that will properly cause the user some concerns.
I could then not show this field.
I would normally set a default at the table level however this number can change due to the area you are accessing from. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
Please remember I am a new to this and need fairly detailed instructions.
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers
    Silv

    Hi Silv,
In order to set a default value ( in your case "51"), to your ITEM, edit the item and scroll to the "Default" attribute of the item. For the Field "Default Item", enter the value "51". Apply the change and run the application/From Page.

  • A default value in tabular form

    Hi all,
I have a simple tabular form, and i'd like that if a certain field doesn't contain any value to fill it with a default value.
I tried to do it via default value attribute, but i'd like it to take place in a certain record in the table and not in all the records (which i can identify by a key, e.g. id)
    how would you do it????
    Liron

    Hello Liron,
    >> when i submit the page, it doesn't take the default value (which indeed appear on screen) but null
Well, if this default value is the only “change” in this row, it will not be updated into the table, because the tabular form mechanism is not detecting any changes in this row – remember, as far as the tabular form goes, this is the original value of the cell.
However, it seems like you want this default value to be saved, regardless of other possible activities of the tabular form. In this case, you should run the update prior to rendering the tabular form. You can use a before header PL/SQL block to do that. Using the EMP example, you can use a similar code in your pl/sql block:
    update emp
    set comm = 10
where comm is null and deptno=20This pl/sql block will run prior to your tabular form query, and all the updates will be reflected in the rendered result. Now you can continue to work with the tabular form to enter the rest of the changes you need (including deleting the new default values).
Don’t forget to change the tabular form query back to its original form. If you are using this technique, you don’t need the CASE statement.

    Arie.

I want to know..if this approach is fine OR we may have some better approach to acheive this...????

  • Setting default value of Tabular form item is not working

    Hi,
I have a tabular form and in that I want to set the default value of the username to app_user. So in the default value of the item, I wrote v('app_user') and type Pl/SQL, but that does not seem to work. I tried the static application & page item with :app_user. That threw an error.
Also, I wanted to populate the date field in one column. Doesn't sysdate work?
    Thanks,
    Sun

Bob, I did read that. MY problem is that it is still not working. I am wondering if this is because the table is in execute query mode maybe? I am wondering if the default value needs to be added after the tabular data is populated through some other way? Maybe the default value would work only for static non database items?
ThanksYou're right, I just tested that using the default setup on the column in report attributes and it did not work.
I think you'll have to update the columns with the default value post query but I'm not sure exactly what you need to do.
I have a form that has a weight entry column. I tried changing the query to set the default value in the query
    from..
    Select Weight
    From...
    to
    Select 999.99 Weight
From...That appeared to work, but the 999.99 value was not populated back to the Database since it wasn't entered through the form UI. APEX maintains the entered values internally so it can do its checksumm processing and update modified rows back to the DB. I'm thinking you could update what needs to be updated using Javascript in a Dynamic Action, but I'm afraid I don't know how to do that.
Excuse my incorrect assumption when first replying.

  • Setting default value for form field assoc with a table column

On a "Create Record" situation I was trying to set the default values of some form fields using a page level "Process". These form fields have Source Type = Database Column. It wasn't working, I could only set non-db assoc form field values no matter when the "Process" was set to exec. From some other posts it seems that this is by design, ie. not being able to programatically set the initial values of form fields that are sourced to db columns. I was hoping to have just one "Process" that would exec to set these initial values in one place rather than scattered about for each field that needed a default value. These particular default values come from ref tables and may be different for each user.
So, it looks like I have to use a "Default Value" plsql chunk for each field on the form itself or else set their value on the calling form's Redirect in the "Set these Items" area.
    Is this correct?

You could define a database function which accepts the name of the item and the user ID of the user running the application. Based on the item name and the user ID have the function return the appropriate initial value. Invoke this function in a "Default Value" PL/SQL block.
Does that help in centralizing your initial values? You could have one function per page or one function per application. I would do one function per application.

  • HELP - i can't set field value in a form

    Hi,
I created a form based on a stored procedure.
I try to set a field value on this form( the name of the item in the wizard is 'P_GG') from the advanced PL/SQL SECTION in the wizard, and, for exact, in "... before displaying the page..." i wrote:
    p_session.set_value(
    p_block_name => 'DEFAULT',
    p_attribute_name => 'A_P_GG',
    p_value => '20');
But when I run the form the field is blank
Thank for everyone reply and help me.
    Simone Mancino

    Dmitry,
    thank u for your reply.
I tried your solution, but there is another problem. I specified a default value for the form, using the syntax "#myfunction()".
The first time I run the form, i get the correct value. But whenever i run the form again in the same session, I always get the FIRST value: it looks like the function is not evaluated again. For example, suppose the function is
    return to_char(SYSDATE, 'SS')
    (just to have a random dynamic value);
you always get the value of the first run, even if you refresh the page.

  • How to insert row where DB date field has default value.

    APEX 4.1, Oracle 11.2
I'm trying to insert a row using "javascript:addRow();" where the report query is an SQL Query (Updateable Report).
    1)  Several of the fields are display-only with defaulted values.
    2)  No problem with the VARCHAR2 fields.
    3)  And if RUN_DT is a text field, the insert works.
    4)  But I get errors when trying to make RUN_DT (DD-MON-YYYY) display-only and default it to P63_RUN_DT.  I display P63_RUN_DT so I see it is correct.
Now, this is not a new question.  See:

Various folks recommended using Default PL/SQL and SYSDATE when SYSDATE was the desired default value.  That worked for some and not for others.  I could not get it to work for me.  The errors I receive are "•Column must have a value. (Row 1) " and "ORA-01410: invalid ROWID".   I believe the ROWID error is an example of spurious error cascade caused by the RUN_DT problem.   I believe it will disappear once the RUN_DT problem is solved.
I will try to replicate on apex.oracle.com
    Thoughts?
    Howard

Update: At least in my case, it seems the RUN_DT date column cannot be Standard Report Column.  I made it "Display as Text (saves state)".  Standard Report Column works for the defaulted VARCHAR2 columns.  Go figure!
(more)  And I could not get it to work with "Item" (P63_RUN_DT) as the Default.   However, it seems to work -- so far -- using Default PL/SQL of TO_DATE(:P63_RUN_DT,'DD-MON-YYYY').
