Original Import doubt on indexes

Hi All,
First of all, I wish you a Happy New Year to you all
I have been learning most of the stuffs in oracle DB from here. Thanks for that to all.
Recently, I got an original export dump (exp) to import in the database.. and I have imported in the database.
but, some doubts I had about the import.
The export log ended as below:
+. . exporting table                      GILRFILES      17336 rows exported+
+. . exporting table                          FLY7          0 rows exported+
+. . exporting table                            KOCHC      19645 rows exported+
+. exporting synonyms+
+. exporting views+
+. exporting stored procedures+
+. exporting operators+
+. exporting referential integrity constraints+
+. exporting triggers+
+. exporting indextypes+
+. exporting bitmap,functional and extensible indexes+
+. exporting posttables actions+
+. exporting materialized views+
+. exporting snapshot logs+
+. exporting job queues+
+. exporting refresh groups and children+
+. exporting dimensions+
+. exporting post-schema procedural objects and actions+
+. exporting statistics+
Export terminated successfully without warnings.*
I executed the below import command:
imp userid=JRET/JRET file=F:\oracle\need\SALLOOONI.dmp fromuser=JRET*
The import ended with the below lines:
+. . importing table                    "GILRFILES"      17336 rows imported+
+. . importing table                        "FLY7"          0 rows imported+
+. . importing table                          "KOCHC"      19645 rows imported+
Import terminated successfully without warnings.*
My doubt is...
Where are the indexes, synonyms, procedures and functions which are exported in exp dump but they are not visibly displayed in the import. When I executed a command to import index I got the warning stating "This was done by SYS not by you" and an error stating " Already exists'. When I asked one of my friend he said indexes will be imported in imp command when the above imp command is issued.
Is this true..? can some one put some light on this.
Thanks in advance

Hi Dean,
Dean Gagne wrote:
Any object in the dumpfile owned by T24 would be imported. If it existed, an error would be reported.
DeanThanks I got the answer. The exp dump had objects like index, view, procedure, etc..
As when they are imported from user JRET from the exp dump which has all the objects and they are imported as well.
Thanks for your input Dean.

    I can't think of anything that would prevent this from working. You just need to make sure that the large table does not have any ref constraints, or other associations with the other tables that may get screwed up while the other users are using the database.

  • Excluding 3 tables out of 170 tables in Original Import

    Db version:10gR2
    I want to import all tables except 3 from a dump file using Original Import Utility. I could use the TABLES parameter in the parfile and specify all 167 tables separated by comma that i need.My parfile is going to be huge if i choose this option. isn't there an easier way to achieve this?
    Can this be achieved easily using Datapum IMPDP?

    you can create a parameter file containing the list of tables you want to import/export. while importing it can be partial list too.
    you can create a file exp.par like
    file=file1.dmp
    log=file1.dmp.log
    fromuser=abc
    touser=abc
    user=user_db
    tables=(table1,
    table2,
    tablesn)
    and to execute the command do it as
    exp parfile=exp.par
    make similar file for import also.
    to get the list of tbales, you can run the following query
    select object_name from all_objects where object_type='TABLE' and owner='SCHEMA_NAME' and object_name not in ('tableexclude1', tableexclude2')

    Hi,
    I never tried, but you can export and import the Index configuration settings with the export/import function of the configuration iView.
    You find the settings below the Global Services, only when the export is started.

  • Error while importing a table index.

    Hi,
    We are facing a problem while importing an index to the production region. Below are the details.
    1. A secondary index was created on standard SAP table ILOA in DEV region.
    2. The Index was successfully moved to the Quality system, without any glitches.
    3. Due to some issue (releated to testing, for which we had to revert back the changes), we had to delete the index on ILOA in the DEV region. The transports were moved to the PPD region and hence, the index on ILOA was deleted in PPD also.
    4. Once the issue related to testing was resolved, we again created an index on the table ILOA and moved it to PPD.
    All these 4 mentioned steps happened successfully and in PPD there was no error while importing the transports.
    But, while moving the above transports to the Production region, there was an error :
    "Index ILOA~Y could not be activated
    (E - No index ILOA~Y found with status M)"
    Please note that Y is the name of the index that was created on the table ILOA.
    The error code that we have got is "8".
    Can anyone please shed any light on what the issue is?? WE cannot re-import the transports in to Production without analysing this issue,because our client doesnt permit that.
    Thanks and eagerly awaiting a kind reply.
    Regards,
    Raghavendra.

    You've three transports - one to create the index, one to delete, and one to recreate.  It could be that the the third one tried to run before the database had finished with the second?
    Have you looked on SE14 for the actual status on production of the index?

  • When relocating my itunes, I lost all my metadata for albums that I had originally imported from either CD or bandcamp. Is there anyway to stop this from happening?

    I wanted to access my itunes music from an external HDD as my mac mini only has a 256GB SSD. That was fine, I did that correctly as the forums suggested, however looking through my library It appeared that I was missing a fair amount of music! Right down the bottom of my library was a whole bunch of songs with '01 *trackname* ' then a whole bunch of '02 *trackname* ' so on and so forth. This was all my missing music! I realised after a short moment that this was indeed all the music that I had imported either directly from CD or music I had bought from Bandcamp (so originally it had all the album/artist/artwork/year etc etc) Now I've had to go through and look up each album and re-sort them myself. I want to know how to make sure that if I do need to ever re-import my itunes (HDD failure etc) that all that metadata will stay the same.
    Thanks!

    AIFF and ALAC will both preserve tags in the files itself as well as what is stored in the library file.  It is still best you do the move the library properly as there are some metadata only stored in the iTunes library file and this data will be lost if you end up re-adding a file, but at least most will be saved.
    ALAC is the same quality as AIFF but smaller files (~60% original).
    Various things you mention set up small red flags.  If you are sharing a library you have to be careful.  A library is all the media plus all the support files which give it the structure you see when you open the iTunes application.  Only one person at a time can open the library file itself (iTunes library.itl).  Several people can simultaneously share media but if you want several computers using the same media at the same time you will have to set it up so
    each user has their own library file and share the same media.  The main problem there is if one person makes changes to the media the other person has to be notified because iTunes iwll not automatically update a library file if something changes in the media folder.  I could type another 30 lines on this topic and won't unless you specifically need to configure things a particular way.
    Another red flag is "network".  Is this a NAS?  Plenty of posts on the forum where iTunes has problems using those. Probably many people with no issues but it seems to be a constant issue with some.

  • How do I restore all images in a collection to original imported aspect ratio?

    Typically I select all images in a catalog, resize the first image to 640x480.  I then right click on the first image (all images are still selected) click on Develop Settings, Sync and choose to sync only the aspect ratio.  All images are then cropped to 640x480 like the first image, which I then export to a folder.
    I then need to restore all images to the original aspect ratio for building a slideshow to export to my website.  I've followed the same procedure i.e. selected all images, click on the first image, change aspect to original, right click on first image and sync aspect ratio for all images.
    The problem is that the rest of the images do not return to their original aspect ratio but revert to 4x6 aspect ratio instead of the original size when imported.  I've changed the lock to unlocked and tried both but still no result.  Now I have to select each image individually, open the crop dialog and choose custom to get it back to the imported aspect ratio.
    How do I batch restore all images in a collection to the aspect ratio when imported?

    Rotating an image is adjusting its crop rotation and crop size.  You originally said you wanted things back to import state which presumably was full resolution w/o any adjustments to ratio, size, or rotation.  If you are wanting to do things in the middle of your other processing I'm less sure what to tell you.
    Taking a crop that you have at 3:2 and setting it to 4:3 shrinks in the longer sides, and resetting the ratio to 3:2 shrinks down the shorter top and bottom--this is how it always works, because a crop box is not ever expanded by setting the ratio to something different, and changing the ratio back and forth like that makes the crop-box smaller and smaller.
    Are you having an issue because you want to fiddle with the crop in the middle of other processing every time, or is this a special case because you've moved on in your processing after asking your question some time ago?
    If you routinely need to do this, an easier way might be to export the images at the 3:2 crop, then reimport those JPGs, change the crop on those JPGs, only, then re-export them a second time, and be done with them.  This sounds like you're making proofs?
    If you are making proof-sized images at a different ratio?  Why not just export the 3:2 images at a smallish size, perhaps with a watermark and not have to worry about making them 4:3 ratio?
    Another alternative would be to print the images to JPGs instead of a printer, and set the paper size to a 4:3 ratio and turn on the Fill option--which will chop of the long sides automatically as it prints them.

  • Importing a second Index from Word 2010 into InDesign CC

    I am working on a 1000 page book. It was imported from Word 2010. Things imported messy but I am cleaning it up. The second index imported as text but did not attach to the reference in the text. The Index worked as did the table of contents. What can I do and how do I work with this. I have never had this kind of a situation.

    Make sure to open the track changes dialog and accept the changes, then do a Save As to rewrite the file.

  • TDM Importer Excel start index automation

    I am trying to create a macro within excel to import and format data from a .tdm file.
    The files to be imported sometimes exceed the 1M row limit in Excel, so when this happens, I want to generate two workbooks. One of these workbooks should be generated from a start index of 1 and the other should be generated from a start index of 1048576. Right now I use the silent mode to give a start index of 1 and then rerun the importer and enter 1048576 manually for the second workbook.
    My question is: is there any way to set the start index through a macro?
    I have considered using the sendkey command to generate the "tab tab 1048576 enter" keystrokes required, but excel cannot interrupt the call object command in order to do this.
    Many thanks,

    I have done quite complex processing with DIAdem.  Your request is not a big deal to do in DIAdem.
    For max flexibilty, you can take out references to the channel. Like shown below in oChan01.  This will allow you to handle a channel like an array. The limitations on this approach is speed,  The built in functions are faster than this approach, and should be used as much as possible.   The chnfind command is one examle that is much faster to find a specific value in a channel.
    OptionExplicit'Forces the explicit declaration of all the variables in a script.
    dim oChan01,i,oGrp,dVal
    set oGrp = data.Root.ChannelGroups("EXAMPLE")
    set oChan01 = oGrp.Channels("Time")
    for i = 1to oChan01.Size
       dVal = oChan01(2)

  • Import tablespace and index seperately

    dear gurus,
    i created two tablespace testtbs, and testtbs_idx. so when i try to import the dump file. so complete file is going to tablespace.
    can you suggest advised as starting or beginner level what best practice should i do. so that both goes seperately.
    there is user test/test@orcl. the file is also test.dump
    i am not using parameter file rather it is single file command line issue. i am using rhel 5.3 with 10.2.0.4 10gr2.
    confirm another thing, at the time of creation user i give user test to tablespace test permission already. but tablespce index i have not given any permission.
    look at below and confirm if i miss or wrong anything...advise accordingly
    CREATE USER test IDENTIFIED BY test DEFAULT TABLESPACE PREMIA QUOTA UNLIMITED ON test TEMPORARY TABLESPACE TEMP;
    GRANT CONNECT,RESOURCE,IMP_FULL_DATABASE,EXP_FULL_DATABASE TO test;
    REVOKE UNLIMITED TABLESPACE FROM test;
    ALTER USER test QUOTA UNLIMITED ON test_IDX;
    imp test/test@orcl file='D:/bkup_dump/test.dmp' log='D:/bkup_dump/test.log' ignore=y FULL=Y;
    regards

    hello,
    CREATE USER test IDENTIFIED BY test DEFAULT TABLESPACE PREMIA
    QUOTA UNLIMITED ON test TEMPORARY TABLESPACE TEMP;is it like that you are creating user test, default tablespace premia and quota on test???? you should allow quota to user on its default tablespace only so try
    CREATE USER test IDENTIFIED BY test DEFAULT TABLESPACE test
    QUOTA UNLIMITED ON test TEMPORARY TABLESPACE TEMP;before executing this
    ALTER USER test QUOTA UNLIMITED ON test_IDX;
    have you executed this???
    ALTER USER TEST DEFAULT TABLESPACE TEST;
    ?????? you should do that.
    and import complete dump in users default tablespace and then rebuild all indexes to index tablespace, that will be easiest way....experts please correct me...
    alter index <index_name> rebuild online tablespace <new_tablespace>;
    import command is looking fine
    imp test/test@orcl file='D:/bkup_dump/test.dmp' log='D:/bkup_dump/test.log' ignore=y FULL=Y;you might like to include fromuser and touser clause if the user exported is different...and why using full?? are you importing full database???

  • Original Filename not saved if renaming during original import - Why?

    From what I have read online and what I have seen personally, it seems the concept of "Original Filename" is different depending on whether one renames during import vs after the fact.
    The files I renamed after the fact can be restored to the true filename from the camera card.  Subsequent renaming operations seem to use the true original name for pieces like original number suffix.
    Files that I renamed during import have a totally different idea of the original file name ... I think it is what I renamed it to during the import.
    Can you please confirm what I am saying is true?  If so, does anyone know why this is and how I can get my "true original filenames" back?
    I am new to LR and was experimenting with naming formats thinking I could change them around willy nilly.  Apparently this is not the case for the files I imported.  Those names are looking pretty screwed up.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Original filename is what file is named upon import. If renamed before import (or during importing), then original filename will be as renamed - as you've experienced...
    What I do is to use the original file number as part of the renamed filename, thus I can always "recompute" the original card filename, if need be (on-the-fly, in my head, in Lightroom or out, via external software or plugins...).
    for example, if Nikon files are named {date-time}_{original-file-number}.ext upon import, then the original original raw filename was:
    * DSC_{original-file-number}.NEF, or
    * _DSC{original-file-number}.NEF.
    Depending on exif metadata "sRGB", or "AdobeRGB".
    If you need or want to rename them, in Lightroom, back to original card name, you can use a template like this:
    Granted, you'll need to have a different one for each mfr., to get the signature prefix right, and one for each colorspace...
    (if you don't know the (jpeg preview) colorspace, you'll need ExifMeta, or some such...)
    Cheers,
    Rob.

  • Doubt with index hint

    I have a doubt with applying the index hint to fire for multiple coulmns in a query.
    For a single column, it is ok like:-
    select /*+ index( ppbS_inv_sim_serial iss_status) */ item_type_id, status, city from
    ppbS_inv_sim_serial where status='IT';
    there is a problem with indexes firing in our database so this way, using hint, the
    indexes fire.
    But, what, if i want all 3 indexes in the query to fire like
    select count(1) from
    ppbS_inv_sim_serial where status='IT' and item_type_id='A2' and city='USA';
    I hope, my question is clear. Please, help i solving my doubt as it is urgent.
    regards.

    Fix the problem. Not the symptom.
    Using hints in SQL, especially production SQL, is a very poor way to address the problem and only fix the symptom for a period. Until the problem rears its head again and bite you in the butt - a lot more painful this time around.
    Solving performance problems start with Rule #1.
    RULE 1#. IDENTIFY THE PERFORMANCE PROBLEM
    Saying that something is slow, is not identifying the problem. The only way a problem can be solved is if you have at least some idea what the actual problem is.
    Identifying the problem will point to issues like:
    - database schema(s) not being analysed or analysed correctly
    - poorly designed and written SQL (often the case)
    - poorly configured Oracle instance
    - problem/bug(?) with the Oracle CBO
    And depending on the problem analysis, the problem can be CORRECTLY and COMPREHENSIVELY and PROPERLY addressed.
    Fixing symptoms? That is only moving the brick wall a bit further away. Allowing you to run even faster into it the next time around.
